My Uncle John's favorite place. Home away from home. Many thanks to all his amazing friends. He loved coming to the Kings for a pint. Don't be surprised if you see him in the shadows, just raise you glass and give him a cheers!

I felt like I stepped back in time to a warm friendly pub with great people. Had a large selction of cask ale, all of which I sampled and were excellent. The open fires made it give a warm friendly feel and I would highly recommend.

The Kings Arms is top of the league for friendly easy going local pubs. It is not corporate but genuine and an individual family run establishment. No cooked food. Great range of beers, ciders and something for everyone. Two bars, up to 3 open fires running all Autumn, Winter. Sheltered beer garden in Summer. Plenty of parking as most locals are within walking distance.

Been visiting this old boozer for about 50 years.., yes 50! Still serves a good pint and fresh sarnie. Telly a bit loud bit times do change. Other nearby rivals could take a leaf out of this old place in particular the nearby Ship Inn. Appalling!

Made the mistake of going to watch a football match and have a pint here. During the game the foul language and racist remarks that were screamed at the screen, and with children and women present, made us feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable. Will never be visiting again!

Lovely welcoming fires, tasty locally brewed ale, true free house, well worth supporting. It is not pretentious, just a basic country pub trying to serve a decent range of products without interference by pub co or brewery tie.

Called in on a wet and windy Saturday afternoon. Friendly welcome and a great roaring fire again. This is a proper local pub selling great ale. Didn't eat but did return later in the day for another pint or two.

The KIngs Arms has ceased doing food but its a really good place to go for a drink - Open 1300 - 23.00 all days there are two bars one has a magic woodburner stove. There is a good selection of real Ales rotated by the landlord. The Kings Arms is NOT a chain pub, freehold and is operated by a individual well worth a look in to my mind - called in during a visit to our relatives in Southport centralheatking

Last minute dinner out one evening. What a fantastic find. 3 adults and one child. We each ate different meals - all of which were generous portions and a taste to die for. Definitely coming back. The home made pie is out of this world! x

Living in Maghull, & being a frequent diner, I often look at reviews on TripAdvisor to find somewhere different to eat. The Kings Arms in Haskayne caught my attention, as the reviews were so positive & wondered if the last reviewer could really have had such a bad experience. So early last week my husband & I went along to The Kings Arms for a late lunch, without our children, not wanting to risk young ears should it have been as raucous as the last reviewer suggested. Far from being raucous the place was extremely quite & all I can say is that was the only aspect which may have been different from the last reviewers remarks. The food was bland & tepid & the staff extremely unattentiive mainly because the assumed 'chef' spent more time outside the front of the pub than he did inside. This I assure you will be our first & only visit to The Kings Arms as the whole afternoon was a huge dissapointment. Dissapointed, Hungry Diner.

I'm not sure who the 11 Excellent reviews have come from I'm assuming regulars or staff as our meals were not very good. Starters were not bad but you can't really make a mess of black pudding? The menu was very limited to start, ordered drinks and my partner got a "can" of coke but charged for a glass, I had steak for main course which was like chewing a farmers boot, this came with Frozen chips - in fact the best part was the mushrooms! Very disappointed! On top of this we couldn't really talk due to punters shouting and swearing at the football match that was on in the other side of the bar. Won't be going again, and would definately question as to whether the excellent feed back above is genuine?!

Passed this pub while out for a ride and decided to go in for a bite to eat. Had the fish and chips off the lite bite menu. One of the best decisions I have made in a while. Delicious food, relaxing atmosphere, cracking beer garden. Will have to go back again!

We ate here after having a boat cruise on board the Pride of Sefton. We booked for 5 children and 6 adults and we were welcomed warmly on arrival. Children's food came promptly...stopped any moanings of hunger! Our food came shortly after and we were all very impressed at the quality, price and choice. Excellent pub food, with roaring log fires, friendly staff, great with children. Nice to know good food still exists in traditional pubs!

We were looking for a traditional pub lunch on Saturday and spotted the reviews here. I thought that a restaurant under new management would be trying hard to please and - it did! The homemade pies are excellent (steak and ale/cheese and onion) and very good value and there is plenty of variety on the menu. The two ladies waiting-on were friendly and extremely helpful and the chef also popped out to chat. A bit of a smile from the barman would have been nice though.

Four of us went yesterday, it was our first visit since it reo-openend and yes we were pleasantly suprised. The dining area is spacious and well-layed out. Very freindly service from all the staff, who come and took our order. We ordered Steak & Ale Pie with chips and peas, Chicken & Beef Cock & Bull (of the specials), Cumberland Sausage and mash (plus loads of gravy....yum), and ham, egg and chips from the Light Bite Menu. All the food was served piping hot, well presented with a friendly and helpful waitress service. The chef also came out to see if everything was ok with our meals. If you want good value for money and especially if you have family/riends we all recommend the Kings Arm's. The four of us all adult ate for £30 and that included the drinks. The food portions will even challnge the most hungry of Horace's..............well done, we will be back next time to try the Sunday Lunch. We wish the new owners well and it is right what another review says its just what Haskayne needs. Well done all.

Been in a few times now since re-opened for food.Sunday lunch is just fab, had a slice of each meat, which came with all the trimmings and extra gravy, served really nicely by a very polite waitress, who cannot look after you enough.Just what Haskayne needs....proper home cooked food from local farms.Make sure you dont eat though if heading that way, as the meals are plenty.Had a few drinks with the locals in there after too, a very plesant and friendly pub, even the punters make you feel welcome. Now looking forward to the summer when the BBQ's start outside and eating in the lovely beer garden too :)Well done guys!!!!

Brought my mother and daughter for Sunday dinner and we will not return. We were cold in a draft and asked to have the radiator turned on, this didn’t happen and eventually we had to ask to move tables after sitting with our coats on. Sunday lamb shank was fatty and came with roast potatoes covered in gravy so we’re not crispy. Key lime pie was disgusting couldn't eat it, synthetic and horrid texture. They did take this off the bill. The wall paper is coming off the walls by the radiators, toilets stink and disabled isn’t fit for purpose. Too low toilet with no grab rail to get up with. Chairs at the dining tables are so uncomfortable and cheap, dirty painted walls. Whatever happened to this place it used to be top notch, such a shame.
