My mum pops in when out shopping to buy treats for the kids, they make lovely gingerbread biscuits, the latest she bought were Paw Patrol characters, my 3 year old daughter loved her Skye gingerbread. Mum also gets pies and sausage rolls for an easy lunch, all very nice.

There really is very little to fault. It was a very well presented location, inside and out. It was reassuringly busy, but no wait required to get a table for a walk-in. Staff were friendly and presentable. Carvery price was reasonable and there was a wide selection to choose from, both meat and veg. Food was well cooked and hot. The location right next to the tram line was a pleasant surprise for the enthusiast, but no disruptive or noisy. Even the fairly busy road didn't impact the ambiance. The place well deserves 5 stars, but if I had to find something to comment on... Consistency of server would have probably made it easier on the staff. Two different servers tried to take our drinks order and I think we had three different servers total. Didn't spoil the experience at all and probably an easy fix. 😊 Getting out of the car park took a moment too - traffic lights right next tot the exit and traffic feeding from the left mean that, at busy times, you are relying on goodwill of other road users. Less of an easy fix, but I'd still happily eat here again. Thank you, Sheldon Arms! 🍽

We called to take a friend to look around Edinburgh Wollen Mill and decided to have a coffee. Queued for ten minutes and got two sausage rolls and a cream bun and ordered two cappucinos and a latte and a bowl of chips to share with the sausage rolls. After a five minute wait I took the sausage rolls and bun to the table where our friend was sitting waiting as they were going cold. I went back to find my partner still waiting for the drinks only to find the girl who'd taken payment had 'forgot' to tell the girl making drinks about them! Five minutes later we were given two lattes and one cappucino! Whilst my partner was waiting someone came back to say their coffees were cold and the man behind her gave up and left! Another five minutes and we finally got our drinks and a little number 7 flag to put on the table. After we'd eaten the sausage rolls and almost finished the drinks I went to the counter to ask about the chips. After disappearing into the kitchen (and leaving the queue building) the girl came and said "someone crossed them off as being done" ?? I said I'd have a refund if they were going to take more time but was assured they would be "two minutes". Three minutes later they appeared, a small bowl of frozen chips just about cooked. The organisation of the staff is really poor with a few just standing around and one chatting to someone servicing the machines. Shame because the drinks were good and so were the sausage rolls. Just don't expect to grab a quick bite. The queue was huge when we were leaving and going just as slow. Won't call in again.
