We called to take a friend to look around Edinburgh Wollen Mill and decided to have a coffee. Queued for ten minutes and got two sausage rolls and a cream bun and ordered two cappucinos and a latte and a bowl of chips to share with the sausage rolls. After a five minute wait I took the sausage rolls and bun to the table where our friend was sitting waiting as they were going cold. I went back to find my partner still waiting for the drinks only to find the girl who'd taken payment had 'forgot' to tell the girl making drinks about them! Five minutes later we were given two lattes and one cappucino! Whilst my partner was waiting someone came back to say their coffees were cold and the man behind her gave up and left! Another five minutes and we finally got our drinks and a little number 7 flag to put on the table. After we'd eaten the sausage rolls and almost finished the drinks I went to the counter to ask about the chips. After disappearing into the kitchen (and leaving the queue building) the girl came and said "someone crossed them off as being done" ?? I said I'd have a refund if they were going to take more time but was assured they would be "two minutes". Three minutes later they appeared, a small bowl of frozen chips just about cooked. The organisation of the staff is really poor with a few just standing around and one chatting to someone servicing the machines. Shame because the drinks were good and so were the sausage rolls. Just don't expect to grab a quick bite. The queue was huge when we were leaving and going just as slow. Won't call in again.

Disappointing visit today. Called with my Niece for the "Afternoon Delight" which has sadly been replaced with something else - Summer something or other. This was supposedly finger sandwiches, sausage roll and strawberry tart. It took over 30 minutes to receive our food and it wasn't because they were overrun with customers at that time. When it eventually arrived mine was wrong as they supplied cheese and pickle sandwich instead of the ham ordered and had to be replaced, not a finger sandwich in sight - it was two slices of bread slapped together and cut diagonally. When ordering we didn't get asked if we wanted white or brown bread and I forgot to ask for brown. The strawberry tart looked like it had been literally thrown together using the odd bits of strawberry and looked absolutely nothing like the one shown on the promotional material. Such a shame as we have previously visited and enjoyed the food but not today.

Had the breakfast offer and though it wasn't the cheapest you can get, the quality and quantity were excellent. 2 rashers of back bacon, 2 eggs, two hash browns, sausage and tomato, with excellent very tasty beans. A slice of toast included would have been nice but overall, this was a real treat, freshly made, so everything nice and hot. Will definitely visit again (with friends!)

We went to nocutts today which is a lovely little garden centre, unfortunately we decided to eat in the cafe.....Myself and my mum both had the Croque monsieur...the bacon was cold the bread hadn't even been toasted so the cheese sauce had just soaked into the bread making it soggy and inedible! Ridiculous for £8.95! My son had the chicken goujons and chips and when it came the batter was pale almost WHITE which I thought was odd and when I cut into the chicken it was cold! The total of this including drinks cost £30 which is absolutely absurd. I'm annoyed at myself for not asking for a refund, we didn't even eat a quarter of the food before leaving it was disgusting. Please save your money and do not bother, we could have gone somewhere else and spent the same amount and had a lovely brunch! We definitely won't be visiting the cafe again.

Very clean (although there was a nasty smell near the toilets) and well laid out with lots to see although the prices are very high (even on their sale rails). The overheads for a place like this must be massive so that may go some way to contributing to the cost but it is still an expensive place. Went into the cafe for lunch and, like others, got a mixed experience. Slow service (although the staff were apologetic), average food and high prices. An extra till and more staff would certainly help.

Visited here last week and was very impressed with the service and the food. It was very busy but nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they even helped me to my table with my tray as I had my baby in his pram with me. The beef pie was lovely! And wait times were quick, considering how busy they were. I had been here previously last year and was put off due to low standards and poor customer service. Nice to see the huge improvements. We will be back again soon for sure!

Visited Ashton Park and popped into the cafe for lunch as a family. No suitable child options on the menu so I asked if they could do sausage and chips, since both were options on the menu on other meals. Server enquired with someone more senior and the answer was no. How hard would it be to put these on a plate and put them through the till as a meal? Shockingly poor customer service and also did themselves out of an easy tenner!

My wife, her colleague, both NHS employees, and myself visited this establishment earlier today, we first visited the in store cafeteria for coffee and cake. On settling the bill my wife presented her Blue light card expecting the NHS discount but was informed it was not accepted, after presenting the staff with proof to the contrary via the Internet, and manager intervention it was honoured with apologies from the staff. We proceeded to the checkout to pay for the numerous plants we had chosen onlyto be told, Once again, the blue light card is not accepted, a trifling snotty individual purporting to be a manager refused to even consider the possibility after, once again being shown information on the internet suggesting she was wrong, and being told it had just been accepted in their own cafeteria. Suffice to say we will not be frequenting this establishment again if they can't honour their pledge to the NHS.

Service was good and everything was clean coffee were very good but oh my their breakfast was disappointing. Had a veggie omelette which turned up brown and was very bland only served with overdone beans for £7.50 was not good. My partner had a breakfast again with overdone beans dry. Fried eggs were hard and overcooked. Fried potatoes were that well done they were also brown. Only thing not overdone was half of tomato which was rock hard. First and last time here very disappointing. Noticed as I walked past other tables there breakfast looked the same. We were given gift vouchers by some relatives for an afternoon tea to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary and my husband’s sister’s diamond wedding anniversary… what a treat and a thoughtful, useful gift! We arrived a little early, but we were welcomed with a smile by staff and offered the pots of tea whilst we waited. It wasn’t long before another smiling member of staff brought the cakes and sandwiches on super stands looking very inviting and proved to be tasty. It is always nice to have homemade/ on the premises made items..fabulous. Table was decorated with small vase of flowers and lovely napkins…a perfect afternoon out.

This is a typical cafe attached to a garden centre. It is mostly over-priced fare. I think they rely quite heavily on the "Sage" loyalty card that includes a certain number of free drinks and 2-4-1 meal deals. There's no way I would pay the "normal" price. I've stopped ordering coffees because they're never hot enough, no matter how many times you mention it. However, the scones are very good, though I think the extra 50p and £1 charged for jam and cream respectively is a bit steep. I have to agree with other reviewers, tables are often not cleared quickly and there's nowhere obvious where you can return your own used dishes.

This used to be one of the most popular places to visit and has a history that goes way back for good food and service. In the past you could get a bowl of hot delicious soup and a roll for lunch and/or have a large size scone with butter that melted in your mouth. We went to relive the experience today and were (not for the first time) sadly disappointed. The soup was a watered down version of the original served with one thin slice off a bread roll. The scones were about a third smaller than they used to be. The staff were sympathetic but the manager displayed an "oh not another complaining nuisance" look on his face and blamed it on the top management, to be fair the situation was not in his control. We have been watching the standards drop at Ashton for more than a year now. The cafe used to be a bustling busy place but it is now half empty. At the table next to ours an elderly couple had bought a piece of chocolate brownie that was impossible to cut with a knife. They returned it and the next piece was the same. We left as they were retuning that piece. Both were not good on their feet but no attempt was made by the manager to visit their table. On the way out of the center the person on the till was brusque with no manners. Please and thank you were not in his vocabulary. This is the last time we will be visiting this garden center, the sooner it crashes the better.

We have visited the cafe at this garden centre several times over the years and in the past the food has been average to good - especially the cakes. However, on this occasion the service and food was way below average. We had 2 cups of tea and 2 cheese and ham toasties (with the obligatory bit of salad to fill the empty space on the plate). The cost was almost £16 and the quality questionable - very little filling, thin sliced bread slightly burned and no dressing on the salad. On top of that we waited 30 minutes for the meal by which time our tea had gone cold. The cafe was not busy.I believe that the cakes are still good but a little pricey for a local cafe.

We called into the cafe within the garden centre for a snack and drink with our young children...wish I had got the tram back home instead. 15 minute wait in the queue, staff seemed more busy talking to a family member who had visited then actually working in the kitchen, with no clean trays to place our order on. finally ordered what was supposed to be a pot of grapes for the little ones, unwashed and looked dirty, had to wash ourselves using our girls own water. Got a dirty glass for bottle of Coke, asked for a replacement only to be given an even dirtier one, staff didn't seem interested or apologised. Good job I couldnt see into my cup of coffee as I dread to think what I would have found.Customer next to me in the queue also had to ask for clean cups for this drink. One star for the food that was thankfully already packaged and one for the Ben and holly ride at the back of the 'restaurant' that my children liked.... the fish in the aquarium would be better looked after then customers in here.

Too many staff standing about doing nothing leaving it to the younger ones to do EVERYTHING On our visit we reached the till end of the queue and eventually a clearly harrassed young girl took our order ,she tilled it up and then went to the far end of the counter to get (I mistakenly assumed ) our cakes , a customer who had joined the queue asked her for two sandwiches from the display so the girl started to serve her with said sandwiches and the customer then joined the queue to pay so it wasn't as if she had paid earlier and was waiting for her freshly made sandwiches. All the time there was staff from this cafe (I wont call it a Restaurant as this is afar too grandiose title.) standing about and leaving the work to be done by a few younger (probably Saturday staff) girls. This was the final straw for my wife and I as we both decided to leave there and then with our purchases from the garden centre which we replaced on the shelves that we had picked them before vowing never to return to this centre .It is not the first time that this has happened in this centre's cafe but we decide to give them the benifit of any doubt, but alas this time there was no doubt .Poor service , poor experience. Can I offer some advice having been in service industries for for a number of years Supervision...This position comes with a responsibility...Use that responsibility wisely..do not abuse and just delegate.Show your staff what you want doing and how you want it doing.Standing around is not supervising.Show by example.

There are plenty of really nice cakes to choose from in the cafe. There is pretty much nothing healthy to buy from the lunch menu so you won't get a healthy lunch if that's what you're looking for! Food and drinks are overpriced. Staff are nice. The garden centre is good for shopping. Lots to choose from and some good offers on.

Took the kids to do the Half Term Holiday Bee movie trail and it was good fun, following the clues on the posters and walking round the shop. When the kids had finished they received a chocolate lolly as a prize! The shop itself is quite expensive (but it's what you expect for a garden centre).

Initially disappointed as expecting breakfast but finished serving at 11.00am on a Sunday. So we opted to have a snack. We both had paninis with chips & was delicious. The staff were both friendly & efficient.Plan to go back earlier next time for breakfast.

Just visited with a friend. Went to the cafe as I have a 'privilege card' which means I get 2 free drinks per month. No free drink was worth the wait so we left, having queued for about 10 minutes without having moved down the queue. As mentioned by other reviewers it's silly to have the till where people are ordering drinks, it makes for lengthy delays. There were plenty of people behind the food counter, waiting for customers, whilst there was just one person making all the drinks and taking payments. Waste of time. Sort it out, Notcutts! You're not cheap and the service could be better.

We was on the way to the in laws and decided to call in because we was early and live a far distance. It was a wet and cold day and wanted hot drinks and toasted teacakes because we was having a meal later. The young girl was taking my order then the older miserable one said we aren't doing teacakes we are too busy there was no one cueing apart from me and some one in front. Despite us wanting a hot drink we left. Disappointed. Not sure if we will call in again.

We paid a visit to this garden center today too have lunch, disappointed in the limited choices of food in comparison with our local Notcutts in Woodford which is always excellent. My wife and I both had the fish and chips which looked really nice but was extremely greasy, the plate was swimming in oil. They need to improve with more choice and food presentation, we asked for the apple crumble and was told they didn't have any, this was not late but 1.00 pm maybe couldn't be bothered!!!As far as the garden center goes this is well laid out with a good selection, good size Edinburgh Woollen Mill, which I particularly like, had very helpful staff ,Kate and Barbara. As far as the cafeteria goes not sure whether I would recommend, need to improve.

I do like to go and so do my grand children, all is good but why doesn't someone take the restaurant/cafe and give it a good shaking and a reality check. 1. Why is the till not separated from the drink preparation area preventing the meal being tilled up and causing a bottleneck that goes all the way to the start of the food display.2. Why is there not an l shaped counter extending the food area and allowing people that only want drinks to miss out the long wait while food is ordered.3. The person clearing the tables needs training to fill the trolley before doing half trips and the irregular floor near the till needs sorting to make transporting the trolley easier. Perhaps think of a plate clearing area in the restaurant area against the wall to make their life easier and faster.4. No glasses, "we only have paper cups as the new pot washer as forgotten to clean them" what's all that about .. needs sorting out. 5. Food is good and cakes are marvellous the business needs to aim higher with a faster smoother operation. All of the above was happening while two staff member were discussing whether the vegetarian menu was displayed on the wall in the most appropriate place. Now come on please - it worth a visit but watch your blood pressure

You would not believe that Its sister company at Woodford is the same company. At Woodford it's like eating in a good country restaurant. Fresh coffee free refills are plentiful so why does Ashton Notcutts not do the same. A complete new layout is required for both the eating area and the sales floor.

We ordered two small lattes (should have gone for the large, as the small are very small) plus a slice of Victoria sandwich cake and a key lime pie.Coffee was from a machine rather than separately frothing the milk and was bland tasting, needing another shot. The cakes were OK, a bit dry and the key lime pie a bit tasteless. c £11.50, which is expensive for the portion size and compared to other garden centres and cafes in the area where you can get better for £10.Plants at the garden centre are good, but expensive compared to the nearby nursery and the inside has too much non-gardening stuff such as Edinburgh Woollen Mill and Regatta.

Pity that other customers were disrespectful. Ive read reviews and honestly don't know what there on about as it was a complete contrast to the reviews. Had lovely chat to stuart melling such a chirpy fello. Getting a privilege card was painless and easy. Definitely coming for lunch next time

Nice Scones and food very good but hugely over priced we think, £12.95 for fish, chips and peas ! Went in for a snack ordered cheese and onion toastie and had to complain and they replaced it as more onion than cheese,at £5.90 it's a rip off anyway ! It's very popular though so something must be good, over priced we say.

We happened to be shopping in Nottcutt's garden centre so we decided to have lunch at the on-site cafe. We chose toasties which arrived lukewarm though the lettuce they'd left inside when they toasted them had been thoroughly cooked black. Despite the presence of Stilton cheese as the binding agent, the toasties managed to be bland and tasteless. The side salad consisted of lettuce & great hunks of roughly chopped onion with no condiment (not even salad cream) in sight and bizarrely included cooked peas. The chunky chips seemed refritos several times over and while i couldn't fault their crispyness, they were cold and the insides were hollow & potato-free.If in the vicinity & want a quick snack Ashton Moss a little up the road has several franchises. For something less heavy M&S cafe is a bit further along next to IKEA.

We visit here on the odd occasion, a curious setup, a mismash of items, books, kitchenalia, pet supplies, clothes, garden furniture, etc. etc. An outside area, obligatory cafe like a canteen. I don't think we have ever purchased anything here?

This is the first time we have been on a Saturday as Sunday is the norm and the service and table clearing was excellent compared to previous visits. As all way the counter staff were very helpful. As we had our two year old grand daughter with us we asked for a child's box. This was excellent value and the sandwich was freshly prepared, that and the jelly, drink, crisps and large cocky for just over four pounds, good value and all eaten. This place is always worth a visit and the menu is varied also they do cater for different food alergies.

Me and my friends popped in for a look around and some lunch. Usually I wouldn't hesitate spending £10 on a meal but this was horrendous. I ordered a panini, chips and a bru and I wouldn't usually mind the prices if the quality was good but it was terrible this time. Also, it seems there's completely different staff in every time I visit the place! They're dropping like flies!! and the new people don't have a clue what they're doing which made the queue take forever, on a good note by the time I had reached the till my food had arrived which meant it wasn't sat on the side for 10+ minutes going cold like usual. I used to love this place but the quality of the food is dropping as the prices are rising changes are needed!

1st of all the restaurant staff,or some of them hadn't a clue what on earth they are doing, cant get simple orders right, as for the prices, unbelievable, compared to other restaurants only a very short drive away exceptionally dear. My friend ordered the Soup and half sandwich, for near £6 and what she got was half a bowl of soup and a limp bread with Kraft slice and 1 slice of tomato, when she actually ordered chutney. We complained and at least got out money and went down the road for a massive sandwich and cake for half the price. AVOID

Usual garden centre, lots of lovely things for the garden. Inside a bit strange with sections for rabbits, fish, cats & dogs, diaries and calendars, Christmas decorations, clothes, toys, diffusers, furniture and even soft furnishings and jams!!! If you removed all of that, there would be more space for lots more plant and garden related things. We decided to stay for lunch and mom had an egg mayo sandwich and I had a cheese and ham toastie. Both flat, small and very overpriced, as for the pea, kale, radish and onion side salad (a tiny ramekin full) it was simply awful! Mom had a scone filled with cream and jam and I had a slice of key lime pie - both were stale and extremely expensive at £6.95 each!! Very disappointed and actually felt embarrassed I had suggested the place. What a waste of our time and money ☹️☹️☹️

I went with my husband for lunch. Our first visit. Typical garden centre with the usual departments, including clothing, furniture, gifts. Nicely set out. Good choice of items. Went in the restaurant, very pleased to see they do a gluten free, as well as vegetarian menu. The scones of different flavours looked delicious, but unfortunately no room after I had eaten my meal. The food was very nice, my husband liked his gluten free pie, with chips. I've given 4 out of 5 because we waited a long time for the meal to arrive. They did apologise and said it was because the gluten free option wasn't pre cooked and they did give us a top up tea and coffee on the house.

We visited Mottram Wood pub next door to the Premier Inn for late dinner (7pm). It was a perfect end to For The Love Horror convention. The service was quick. The food was fabulous, tasted a lot nicer than it looked. Staff very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be returning for next year

Known this pub for 40 years. New broom has not made much difference. No real ale. Not one handpump. All keg and lager. Rather frequent a proper pub with good food.
