What a little gem of a cafe! Next to a decent sized car park, we popped into Yam Frae Yam on a disgustingly wet Saturday afternoon. We had missed the breakfast menu (served until 12) but one of us had a bacon and brie panini and lemon meringue blondie. Both were delicious and great quality. We both also had coffees which were expertly made. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful, even giving us recommendations on walking trails locally and showing us specific routes on Google maps. Loved the unusual decor and the cafe felt spacious - unlike many others where you feel like you're sat on top of other customers! A lovely place to spend a few hours on a rainy afternoon. We hope to return again and sample the breakfast menu! And a shout out to the young lad working there who served our drinks and food and was proactive in clearing our table.

A really great local pub and restaurant. We stopped here three times during our walking in The Lakes, once for food and twice for drinks after walking the fells. We always received a warm welcome and enjoyed the wide selection of brews. Food was great, high quality pub food that catered well for vegetarian and vegan options with everything accurately labelled. Lovely open fire place and great atmosphere with lots of people enjoying the food and ambience. Recommended.

We had an amazing little weekend trip away! We stayed in the haunted attic room (room 7) the four poster bed was so comfy and there’s a fabulous round bathtub too. We had a cosy dinner by the fire, my husband said the venison and haggis pie was the best he’d ever had! The staff were really friendly and couldn’t do enough for us, we highly recommend a stay here, loads to do in the local area too. We’re already planning our next stay here! Thank you very much

Excellent bakery, the pies are the best there is, get there early to avoid disappointment. Great selection , very friendly staff - highly recommended.

Was a resident for three nights in the first week of January '25. Excellent time throughout though quiet at this time of year, which is to be expected. Nice public bar area especially by the roaring fire. Lots of snow overnight Saturday (4th) so a white wonderland to awaken to in the morning; you can't beat that in these surroundings! Decided on an evening meal for the final night, fish & chips and it was 'delish' as they say. Will definitely be going back again at this time of year when time permits.

My wife, daughter, dog and I have just returned from an excellent weekend in the Lakes. My wife found this hotel as we wanted somewhere close to the Lakes so we could Tick off a few Wainwright's. Although I was taking my dog, I was worried the standard would be below par and the rooms smell of dogs. Not at all, the room was lovely and clean and we were very happy. The dog was not allowed in the restaurant but eating in the bar was fine. The food was really good. I had one of the best steaks I've had in ages. The bar was well stocked with everything you could need. The full English breakfast was excellent and came quickly. I've read poor reviews of the staff, but they were friendly, attentive, and very professional. I wont hesitate to stay here again. Thankyou for making our weekend so enjoyable. Gareth Rothery.

We had been warned it got very busy so had booked a table. When we arrived it was already packed so had high expectations! Sadly we were very disappointed. The service was poor and the food was not good. My wife chose fish and chips ‘because you can’t mess that up’ but struggled to eat it as it was swimming in grease. The mash with my Cumberland sausage tasted like Smash made on a camp stove by my mother on camping holidays in my youth! Not a good recommendation 😂. There’s very little choice of establishments locally so they have a captive audience so I guess little motivation to drive improvement
