Having booked a table in another pub in the village and found it wanting, we headed over to this one. It appeared that this was where the locals go, as it was busy compared to the other. Great range of beers and ales, unlike the other place that had one. Loved the pie and peas and came away with a very cheap bar tab... Thank you.

We have visited twice over the last few months. Both times we have been treated to the most amazing and delicious food. Everyone who works here is brilliant and they never stop. They are so welcoming and friendly. I have had the eggs Benedict both times and I can honestly say I have never tasted them better elsewhere. My husband had the breakfast and he thoroughly enjoyed it. We can’t wait to visit again. Highly recommended ✅

Absolutely wonderful place. Cosy atmosphere with log fire and warm cosy spots to sit over a drink and a meal. We had lunch fabulous fresh sandwich on Brown bloomer bread which tasted like it had just been made. The fillings were amazing I had the Aubergine and courgette with an amazing sauce. We also thought we would like some of the hand cut chips and OMG they were so tasty and definitely not to be missed. The other sandwich was a Bay Club - Chicken Parma Ham and tomato apparently delicious as well. Chicken very moist and very tasty. the sandwiches are served with a little dish of coleslaw which didn't disappoint. Service was great lovely friendly staff who served with a smile and made us feel so welcome. Can't wait to call again which is going to be Tuesday with my Vegan daughter and her baby, so looking forward to it; she will love the food and deserves a special treat.

I 100% recommend it for everyone. Best roast beef ever! Delicious, crunchy veggies, soft melting-in-your-mouth beef. Definitely will come back and bring my friends next time!

We had a family meal at the Thornton Arms at Christmas time 2024. It was absolutely superb! Great menu, great service, great food. As near to home cooked food or better actually. Super friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended!! We also had a Christmas meal on Christmas Day, in a word-it was superb!!! A better meal & we have yet to experience. Thank you to all concerned.

We tried the Ram inn because my partner has always wanted to go here as she said it looked nice and looked busy. We visited on a Tuesday afternoon so wasn’t expecting it to be packed. Well we were very disappointed! We sat on a table by the window and perused the menu (which is very small and nothing spectacular) but all the time we were really cold. We moved tables and chose another table in the main dining area. There were only 2 other couples in so plenty to choose from. The price of the food was very expensive but we thought maybe it’s really nice, we don’t mind paying high prices if the food is good! After moving tables we were still cold, there was a big open fire, but this was unlit. I chose a burger (£18.50) and my partner chose fish and chips (I think around £18) When the food came we were very disappointed, my burger was on its own with a small pot of chips and the fish and chips was nothing special, frozen peas and frozen ketchup! The burger was what looked like a thin frozen packet burger that was dripping with fat, very underwhelming when I was expecting a premium burger for that price. We did not complain, as I feel that complaining shouldn’t be needed, you should get it right first time! 2 meals and 2 drinks came to £45! As we were leaving, we were the only people left in there, they decided to light the fire! Pretty pointless when there is nobody in. We will vote with our feet and not return. Which is a shame as this could be a lovely country pub, but seems like it is being ruined by greedy landlords!
