The best restaurants serving British food in West Auckland County Durham North East

We visited here on a Sunday without reservation, and seem that we were lucky to get seated as by the time our meal was put on the table, the room we were in was full. The staff were all really friendly and the food was really tasty and quality. We had the mixed Sunday roast with extra veg and roasties. We would definitely go again. Thank you. Can’t comment on the rooms, but everywhere downstairs was clean and well presented.

A lovely place to stop for a light snack or tea and cake. Good value, charming staff and exceptionally clean. Plus some lovely characters for people watching 🙂.

Had breakfast here. Was lovely. The black pudding was the best my husband has ever had! The veggie sausage was really nice. Coffee good and plenty of selection for the kids

9 of us visited as a multi-generational group. We had a lovely lunch and it was so nice to not be hassled/hurried as we chatted afterwards. Staff were great and took our order with good humour. The tables were clean and the food was super. Those who hadn't visited before were well-impressed.

Stayed at the Manor Hotel over the road for 1 night and decided to pop in here for a couple of drinks. Has the feel of a proper local pub but the regulars and bar staff (Kieran was a great laugh and very welcoming) were all friendly and chatting away with us. It was Karaoke night with everyone getting involved having a right laugh. If you're visiting the area give this place a visit - you'll enjoy yourself!

Amazing food and didnt have to wait long at all , friendly excellent staff . Would highly recommend going here for food and drinks

The hotel, rooms and spa are lovely - I often have people staying there who visit us but…….Three of us ( all locals, in our 60’s) have been going to the bar at The Manor House regularly for about 6 years for a monthly get together for wine / whisky and chat and spend well over £150 a session. However since some staff changes (staff leaving) the service and the attitude of some of the (largely untrained) staff has become very unwelcoming. There’s a definite atmosphere of ‘we don’t want locals’ which as we’re often the only ones there is quite surprising and disappointing given our custom over the years.
