The Manor House Hotel in County Durham

The hotel, rooms and spa are lovely - I often have people staying there who visit us but…….Three of us ( all locals, in our 60’s) have been going to the bar at The Manor House regularly for about 6 years for a monthly get together for wine / whisky and chat and spend well over £150 a session. However since some staff changes (staff leaving) the service and the attitude of some of the (largely untrained) staff has become very unwelcoming. There’s a definite atmosphere of ‘we don’t want locals’ which as we’re often the only ones there is quite surprising and disappointing given our custom over the years.

Recently came here for our first afternoon tea experience. Such a beautiful place with a nice menu option. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Facility was very clean with lots of seating options. Highly recommended!

absolutely lovely, so so calming, easy to park and excellent service from the off, the man at reception directed us round and then the lovely lady serving made us feel right at home, we had sourdough sandwiches with salad which were delicious and the couple next to us were having afternoon tea which looked amazing and value for money and we will deffo get it next time, thankyou for making mine and my grans afternoon so special x

We arrived at Reception and were taken to the restaurant. We were quickly served our Afternoon Tea [with no explanation of what we were to eat] and that is the last we saw of any staff until I had to shout through the kitchen door to get more pots of tea. It would appear to be the chef who eventually came to see us and he actually said he didn't have a clue where any staff members were!! He did bring us more tea. The other couple in the restaurant were also really fed up with the lack of staff. As we were leaving, another couple arrived and we eventually advised them to knock on the kitchen door if they wanted any service! Talking about the food - it was actually very nice, but, the lack of service certainly spoiled the experience. We won't be rushing back and wouldn't advise people to go there

The breakfast and evening meals are delicious. Evening meals you can choose from starter, main and dessert. Then with beef there is a wide selection. I would highly recommend people to try it.

We hadn’t been for several years but chose this venue to celebrate Mothers’ Day with my parents. The restaurant has been superbly redecorated and furnished. Very comfortable and special. We received a warm welcome and this level of friendly and efficient service was extended to us and our fellow diners throughout our visit. My parents haven’t ventured out much since the pandemic, but felt assured by the fact that the tables are well spaced so social distancing was fairly easy to maintain. We all thoroughly enjoyed our delicious food. It was beautifully presented, generous in it’s portions and extremely tasty. Between the four of us we all gave our courses top marks! This all made for a very special lunch which was topped off by my mother being presented with a pretty ‘Happy Mothers’ Day’ plate of treats. As I said, we hadn’t been for years but are delighted to have given it another try. The restaurant at The Manor House West Auckland is excellent for Sunday lunch and the staff are ALL fantastic. I hope we are able to return very soon. Thank you.

What an amazing hotel, the staff and the service was first rate. Restaurant Food was beautiful, lovely locally sourced cheeses and waitress very knowledgeable. Service and food was beautiful. loves the history of the building . Nicola from the restaurant and her knowledge was amazing. Spa and staff were equally as accommodating and took the time for a conversation. Our room was beautiful, and could not ask for more . We will be coming back.

Never again! Appalling food and service. Ignored when we sat down had to ask for service! 4 tables in restaurant every one complained!

I hadnt been here for quite a few years, I had the unfortunate experience of working here early on in my career. I hoped the place had improved but was left disappointed, and its a real shame as the building and setting although not in the best location is stunning. The main problem is the service and the level of professionalism on show fro certain staff. I have to say that the young waitress was really putting the effort in and she is a credit to the place, the lady at reception and at the bar though simply had no manner what so eve, very little in the way of communication or basic freindly demeanor, maybe she was being disturbed by the actual customers. The food that we had was average at best but priced at premium. The worst thing though was a decaf coffee served as a pot of boiling water with 2 sachets of cheap decaf coffee granuels that I would expect to seee in a budget hotel tea caddy, hmmmmm

Lovely place for a celebrity dinner with your loved one , we went twice in two weeks Valentines day and her birthday . Superb service and excellent food

we had Sunday lunch here and the food was excellent and very good value. A word of warning though as it states that children eat free with every paying adult but they didn't tell us it was from a separate children's menu which wasn't given to us. So our daughter was charged full price from the main menu. However after asking why we were charged a very friendly member of staff kindly refunded the cost of my daughters meal. I would recommend eating here and we will return soon

I visited the manor for a meal on a Friday evening. Our experience wasn’t great at all. Staff seemed bored of their job and not interested. The food took a while to come out, wasn’t tasty. We declined a pudding and within 5 minutes the bill was brought to the table. Without us asking! We may have stayed for another drink but we got the hint once the bill was brought to us without asking that they weren’t interested if we were ordering more food!! Not good

A lovely hotel with lots of atmosphere, reputed to be of one Henry 8th hunting lodges. Lovely en suite rooms, ours was massive, great staff, lovely good, and plenty of seating areas inside and out, a reasonably priced hotel in a good location.

Very reasonable prices and food excellent quality. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food served promptly and highly recommended for a visit.

My friends and I visited today for afternoon tea and a glass of bubble. The food as always was lovely and staff members Shelley and Emma really couldn't do enough for us. We will definitely be visiting again.

I visited on a quiet lunch time for a birthday lunch. The serving staff were attentive and friendly but that was the end of the positives. A two course lunch took 2 hours to be served. To be honest if we had not already paid on a voucher we would have left after the first hour. The food was not great. The starter was acceptable but the main was poor. A huge disappointment. I won't be back nor am I able to recommend this establishment.

Cannot recommend this restaurant enough - it was a definite highlight of our stay. My blade beef was cooked perfectly and the portions were not skimped on! Reasonably priced and the service was great. Highly recommend

We enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal here on our first night staying at the hotel. The chicken was excellent. Highly recommended

3 of us booked a spa day with two treatments on a groupon. After reading some of the reviews, we knew the treatments would be lovely but thought the facilities wouldn’t be as good. We were pleasantly surprised as both were excellent. Staff were all lovely and helpful. To knit pick, the decor did need updating but it didn’t affect the day at all. We were able to all have our treatments at the same time and told we could have spent all day there from 9am til 9pm! We were lucky to have a lovely day and eat lunch in the sun (the chips are gorgeous by the way!!) The whole day was excellent value for money and we will definitely be back for another pamper day :)

Went today first time for a meal . There was 6 of us , we were seated straight away which was promising . Then the young man taking our order kept getting it wrong even though we kept telling him . Starters was ok , main meal we had to wait at least half hour to come after starters . One of the mains was totally wrong so had to eat on her own when it came . Mine was a chicken dinner , I could see a vein running through the chicken portion what they had cut up and put on my plate , this put me off straight away , why they could not see that and slice it off is beyond me . I sat at least 5 minutes waiting for vegetables to come , this was all diced or sliced veg mixed up , not nice at all . I left most of mine , and I wasn’t the only one to leave food . We asked for desserts straight away , because we had been in there ages and needed to get away , other appointments . We thought when booking we would be finished in 2 hours . My husband went he didn’t even want to see his dessert . Wasn’t the best at all . When asked for bill , it came and 3 times it was wrong , by this time people were saying they had issues with the wait and the service , they told us they wouldn’t have paid . I told the manager I think it was that it’s the worst service I have ever had , that I would write a review and that I would not be returning again . It’s a shame because the building looks lovely and I think it will have a great history , I did want to go and see the spa , as I have wanted to visit for a long time . But sorry BIG disappointment and won’t ever return .

Booked for Sunday lunch for 6 people the service was very poor, we were there for 2 hours the wait between courses was terrible, 1 of the meals ordered was not the correct order , the veg served I have never seen anything like it it looked like a mixed bag of frozen veg the roast potatoes were frozen . When bill finally arrived it was wrong, 3 times I had to send it back . I really felt like walking out without paying when we complained all the manager said was sorry what a joke I will definitely not return

My friend and I booked a table for dinner recently. We were taken to a sort of corridor type room with large window overlooking the garden. Décor not up to much and due to the flagstone floor, our teeny tiny bistro type table kept on wobbling! Extremely frustrating. Imagine if we'd had ordered red wine! We ended up having to place our drinks onto the nearby window sil. Service was slow and the staff were not dressed smartly. I ordered fish and chips and while the fish was very nice indeed, the chips were rather brown and sorry looking. For the prices they charge, I really do think that they ought to use linen table cloths along with cloth napkins. We were given some flimsy paper ones. We had dressed up for the occasion and felt overdressed!

Mothers Day Lunch where do I start first let me say we have come hear for the last two years and always been lovely but this year omg what a disaster met in restaurant or grand hall (dirty cold room no decoration on tables except for empty wine bottle with a numbered wooden spoon they never even had salt and pepper pots on) by a staff member with belly hanging out of ripped trousers very off putting and I can’t believe that no other member of staff or management would let there staff look this way when asked what starter we would like also had to tell them what dessert we wanted we asked for 3 orange and waters and got told to go to the bar to get our own drinks as they don’t bring them to our tables starter was cold and inedible mains was disgusting cold plates chef cut the meat wafer this with just a knife and gripped the meat with his other hand he then put the meat on the plate with his hands he said when asked by another customer if he could use something to handle the meat with that they had nothing to use no mashed potatoes and a tray of frozen diced turnip carrots and leeks (I always thought the idea of a carvery was to choose what you liked not mix every vegetable together) when we asked where the gravy was it was in a coffee pot (silly is it’s the obvious place) all in all it was very cold and inedible dessert a member of staff came and asked if we would like a glass of bubbly that we should have been greeted with (better late than never) we ate our desert finally got to eat something for £19.95 paid our bill in full as we did not complain to get money knocked off they did offer but we complained because it was rotten from going in the place to coming out and never again will I eat there or my family

Was concerned my daughter wouldn’t like the menu as she can be a little fussy however she absolutely loved the food! I had blade of beef that was the most tender I’ve had, served with lovely veg. She had trio of sausage with bubble and squeak. We shared ice cream for dessert and really enjoyed it. They were really short staffed but the waiter handled it very well, lovely atmosphere too.

Particulary excellent steak and chips. Also the camambert platter is well worth a try with different breads and dips.

Sunday lunch well yorkshires were like brittle hard over cooked. Lunch came with red cabbage. Told waitress about yorkshires she did bring new one which was just a bad. BNext waiter asked if we had finished said I but told him about red cabbage as it was picked that it had cinnamon in it which I was allergy to, he just said yes. Went to the toilets and on the way back heard two waitress talking about us and who would be going over to take the bill. Very unprofessional.

While visiting friends in the area we decided just to stay at the hotel restaurant for dinner.

Ok food but not much to choose from, very basic decor so didn’t give a cosy feeling, breakfast was under cooked

My mam and dad went here for her birthday and the food was amazing! Couldn’t fault anything about it! The steak and sausages were the best so highly recommend to try them!!

We ordered Steak Pie, but ended up with chicken pie, due to the chef saying that the steak pie was not up to her standard. The pie was OK but nothing special. It is Ok if you are hungry.

I have just stayed at this hotel for two nights and overall the experience has been good. I was in a courtyard room which was nicely appointed clean and comfortable. The only down side was the noise of creeping floorboards above when people walked around the room. This stopped at a reasonable hour and a good nights sleep was had by all.

Being an old Manor House it is a bit like The House that Jack Built, but this adds to the fun as it is unlike modern hotels where everything is predictable. The food was generally OK pub-type food, but my steak pie was all pastry and very little meat. My wife chose better as she had large prawns from the starter menu with chips. Our guests chose risotto which was OK, but nothing spectacular. You don't come here for gourmet food, but it is alright in an interesting setting.

First appearances make this Hotel look very smart. The dining room is light and airy and again looks very nice. Customers at every table eating so it was fairly busy. Very young staff who were quite attentive. Choice on menu fairly good, the usual pork, beef, chicken and wild mushroom risotto as vegetarian option.

We ate in the restaurant and was really disappointed. I had the steak pie and it had clearly been through the microwave, it was soggy and the meat was grey looking! The buttered veg had no butter on at all and the hand cut chips were hard and not cooked properly. The waiting staff had no clue to what the chefs dessert of the day was, what soup it was or what beers you sell!

I have restrained from posting this review for a couple of weeks as I was wanting to write a semi positive comment, however I cant, and having seen that multiple negative comments have now been removed from trip advisor (why?)I now feel compelled to leave my feedback to anyone wanting to book here.

Lite lunch here as part of our spa package. Pleasant restaurant with conservatory area if desired.

Despite highlighting the dirt to staff, it was still there 24hours later. The decor is lovely but please sort the carpet, stained walls and dead flies out

50 min wait for dinner in a restaurant that was close to empty. Now I know why it was quiet. before we were served dinner we decided to leave so I cannot say if the food is good or not.

For the price we paid i couldnt complain. Hotel very old ! althou bed was nice and soft ,spa could do with a few minor repairs , the lady in charge of the spa bookings desk was very nice . Breakfast was nice

I visited here with my partner on the lunchtime menu and were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and attentive and it was nice and quiet which suited us. Decent menu variety for lunch and competitively priced too. Lovely fresh food, what more could you ask for? Highly recommended.

Had breakfast here on Saturday Morning 30th June ahead of a wedding in the afternoon.

Enjoyed a very nice lunch here on our spa day. The staff were friendly and the restaurant overlooked the garden which was lovely. Not a huge menu but something to suit most tastes and lighter options for those using the spa facilities. Definitely recommend the chunky chips they were delicious!

Nice cooked to order breakfast. No tongs for the bread! finger picking from ALL guests. The cups were dirty as was the table cloth.

Average food , quite expensive. The included breakfasts are however really nice. Good choice and something for everyone.

The food is absolutely beautiful everything we had while there,was lovely and plenty of it we had the steak pie with chunky chips really tasty would recommend eating in there restaurant.

Me and my wife have stopped here twice. On both occasions the service has been top notch. The rooms are comfortable, food is great and the health club and spa is great. We would be happy coming back every year.

Had a Lovely three course meal. Fish cakes with mozzarella cheese for starters followed by lamb shank with mash and asparagus and for dessert the most amazing red velvet cheesecake.

We visited this restaurant for breakfast and our evening meal as we were staying in the hotel. The breakfast was lovely, however the evening meal was a bit of a mixed bag - my partner's chicken tikka was very good, however my pasta dish was extremely watery and therefore difficult to eat and lacking in taste. That being said, the chunky chips I had on the side were delicious. We both feel that the menu is overpriced, and the customer service you receive depends very much on who is serving you - some members of staff are friendly and efficient, whilst others (one in particular) are sullen and ignorant. As a result of this, we chose to spend the remainder of our stay dining in the nearby Eden Arms instead.

Terribly run down wonky light shades, missing candles from candelabra, cobwebs all over, served dirty teacups. Wedding planner if you could call her that was 35 minutes late not very professional at all. Wasted journey.

Food was superb. We would recommend even a visit if your not staying at the Manor House. Staff very friendly and efficient.

Pleasant staff. Cosy , a little pricy. We popped in after a very quick visit to the spa . The girl serving was very pleasant and helpful . The wine she offered us was a brand is not seen before and was delicious.

Upgraded to a superior room and really liked it, massive bathroom and very quirky.

Horrific experience following on from spa deal. Food was bad and the chef couldn’t have cared less. Waitress hid in kitchen the whole evening with customers having to go into kitchen to get her attention. Only my table and one other in so an extremely quiet night. No service whatsoever with really bad food. Greasy and tasteless. Complaint wasn’t taken seriously by duty manager so I emailed. 6 days later with no response I chased it up. Got a response just saying food manager was in holiday and he would be in touch middle of the week. Still no apologies with nobody taking responsibility for the shambles that took place. I’d never ever return here as long as I live.

Visiting the parents and looking for somewhere local for Sunday lunch opted for Manor House due to ideal location and reasonably priced and looked like the ideal setting.

Booked a spa day for 2 for my sister's birthday. Spa part of the day was lovely (I've left a separate review for the spa) but the afternoon tea part of the day was absolutely appalling.

Been a few times for Dinna food always nice plenty of choice great service spotless clean friendly staff always fast Service I would recommend the fish and chips beautiful

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the manor house for one night and visited the restaurant for tea and breakfast. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. Would recommend to visit when staying in the hotel or if life round the area. A tad on the expensive size which was our personal opinion.

My husband and I often visit this lovely pub for Sunday lunch. The food is amazing. You can choose between medium rare beef or well done which is a good idea. I prefer mine rare. The lunch comes with all of the roast trimmings and veg. You can also add extra veg and trimmings too if you have a big appetite. There is also other meats available on a Sunday plus other food (not just Sunday roast). They serve lovely wine too and a couple of real ales which adds to the enjoyment. We would certainly recommend this pub both for Sunday lunch and at other times.

Had an evening meal here and breakfast the next day with my partner during our spa breaks and we couldn't fault it. We had a bottle of wine included in our meal thanks to our booking deal which I had no idea about but it was a lovely surprise. The gentleman who looked after us (beard and hair tied up) was very pleasant and made the experience all the more enjoyable.We both had the fishcakes for starters which were amazing. I then had the chicken and chorizo penne pasta which was so creamy and tasty, the portion was so huge I couldn't eat it all! My partner went for the sirloin steak and upgraded to surf and turf which he ate all of! Just when I thought I had no more room our server offered desserts and once I was told the dessert of the day was baileys cheesecake I was a goner. My partner went for sticky toffee pudding which is a favourite of his and we both ate every last bit.The next morning we had breakfast in the restaurant which was just as good as I'd hoped. As it was included on our deal I wasn't sure what to expect but we got there and there was a continental buffet laid out, we got a choice of tea or coffee, got to pick what cooked food we wanted. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better breakfast to start the day on. The 2 women looking after us were very friendly and cheerful although they seemed a bit rushed around even though there was only the 2 of us in. Maybe setting up for dinner service? All in all very nice restaurant and I would love to come back and try more

Great little get away which I first picked as a one night stop over travelling further north...have been back loads of times since ! really love it, great to chill out, swim, eat, drink etc...personally I can't fault it.

Beautiful food in a lovely setting the cheescake was best i have had. Attentive staff will be back. Had fish which was cooked well and homemade chips

We went to the manor for Sunday lunch. And may I say that I found the hotel to be a beautiful old style building. However the meal was set out nicely but was a little on the cooler side and the beef a little tough.

We went to the restaurant for the first time with friends from the South and we were all impressed. Lovely seating area to wait with a drink and then into a bright restaurant for the meal.We all had something different and were very pleased with both the food and the service. In fact we will be returning in the next few months.

The food was delicious well presented, hot and delicious. Every thing you could want at breakfast. Huge choice of Buffett items and a cooked option. Delicious.

Visited for Sunday Lunch and was very nice. Food was excellent and great portions. Restaurant is very nicely decorated and cosy. Ewa who served us was full of smiles and very friendly. Only negative would be a dirty glass on the table and mismatched cutlery but would definitely visit again

Very nice meal, and was even made a starter that wasn't on the menu by a very accommodating chef. Place was nice temperature and very pleasant with soothing background music and very friendly staff

Me and my partner came last year after the birth of our baby boy and have returned today, the food is amazing, compliments to the chef!! The food is the main reason for our return

We had an evening meal in the restaurant. The service was appalling. My boyfriend asked what bottled beers they had, to be told they only had Speckled Hen, but then she came back and said they have ran out and only have Black Sheep. She said the only beer on draft was Carlsberg. Another couple sat down behind us and asked for a bottle of Peroni to which the waitress said yes of course, so it was quite clear they did have other beers in stock. We ordered the burgers which were overcooked, and a side of onion rings which we cut open and found uncooked batter. The food and drinks service was slow and tedious, considering there were only 6 tables including ourselves occupied. When we finished our food, the waitresses seemed to ignore us, and settled two table’s bills who had finished after us, and still did not ask us if we were finished despite sitting there no longer eating.Only plus side great cheese board for £8, but did have to ask for extra biscuits as didn't give enough. We went to breakfast for our full English. I note tariff for room with breakfast is an additional £8. The breakfast was cold, parts lukewarm but the black pudding and sausage were cold. The yoghurts and muffins ran out and no one seemed to be replenishing the continental breakfast.

Great portioned food, at a very reasonable price, all staff are freindly and give top service all round start to finish

I came here as a spa package which included 2 course lunch. Always lovely food and friendly staff. We had soup of the say to start which was leek and potato and was lovely and hot. Crusty bread was warm aswell.Main we had cod and chorizo with veg which was gorgeous!! Would recommend this as it was delicious. Never had it before but would have it again.We upgraded to a dessert as we were hungry from our spa day and git sticky toffee pudding which again was lovely.While we were in people wete havungwa Sunday dinner which looked lovely so il be back to try that!!

We arrived early, check in wasn't till 3pm so we went for lunch in the hotel restaurant. There were a few other guests but it wasn't busy, so we were expecting quite a fast service....this sadly wasn't the case! We waited ages for a sandwich and baked potato, when the sandwich arrived the bread was stale, we sent this back and got a replacement.We then checked into our twin room, this was very nice and clean and bigger than expected. Tea and coffee facilities were provided but not much choice with only 1 small packet of biscuits. We decided to venture out for an evening meal so wanted to freshen up, the shower was cold so phoned reception, the boiler had tripped so would need resetting. In the morning we woke up for breakfast at 8am, this was a continental style buffet with the option of a cooked breakfast. There was a good variety of cereal on offer with muffins and croissants. There was bread with jam / marmalade on offer to make toast but no butter, and you had to wait for tea and coffee but no milk on tables either! We decided to give the cooked breakfast a miss as we didn't want to be late for our spa treatments.The spa itself was nice, unfortunately you have to pay for tea / coffee which I thought would have been complimentary...the treatments (facial and massage) were ok, we upgraded to collagen facial and aromatherapy massage for an extra £5..I wouldn't have been happy if we had paid full price for these treatments though!All in all this hotel is nice, it has a lot of character and it is clean, it does lack a bit of final polish, if the restaurant service was a bit swifter and to a higher standard this would bump up my review vastly! I would consider staying here again but only with a wowcher / groupon deal as I dont think it is worth full price.

Only ONE vegetarian main option available for Dinner. Luckily a dish I do like (goats cheese and beetroot risotto) and it was tasty, but surely these days all restaurants should have a number of options (without guests having to feel awkard by asking for special requests) to choose from like those who eat meat/animal produce.

We stayed at the hotel here recently and went in the restaurant for dinner. We were not disappointed as the food was excellent. We had a three course dinner and each course was both well presented and absolutely delicious. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Took my relatives from Oz for lunch. Two out of the three orders were cold, frozen inside the jacket potato. Couldn't pay the bill so we were sent to pay at reception. It's a good thing we are honest as we could have easily slipped out. The waitress was pleasant.

We had a lovely relaxing time over a two night stay on NYE and New Years Day night. The food was of a good standard and the staff were all courteous and helpful. Service could be a little slow but we were not in a hurry. We took our little pooch too as the hotel is dog friendly. We ate in the Knights Hall on NYE and thought the food was generous and we enjoyed the surroundings. This is a very old and creaky hotel but full of character. There are a couple of bars and a pool, gym, restaurant and orangery. The countdown to NYE was missed by us and we were all on the dance floor. Should have made a bigger deal of the time as that's what we were all their for. Wine £19 bottle, £120 for two night stay including 1 breakfast and the meal NYE. Restaurant meals varied £10/20 each and breakfast £8Go with on open mind and I think you will find you get what you pay for.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and had our dinner here. The grilled fish was so crispy on the outside and moist inside. Breakfast was standard English breakfast and was plenty and good.

My best friend's wedding was held here recently and I could not fault it. Rooms were beautiful, clean and comfortable whilst maintaining tradition. We ate in the restaurant the night before the wedding; food was delicious and very reasonable. Staff were very helpful and accommodating with everything we needed. Wedding was beautiful the Manor House was a perfect setting for it. Would highly recommend.

My friend took me here for lunch and a catch-up.We were greeted very warmly by the hotel staff and taken through to the restaurant. The restaurant has a nice feel about it, but the decor of the rest of the hotel was very shabby.I had home made Lasgne and my friend had steak pie with chips. My meal was ok, but I felt that the Lasgne had not been freshly made.The staff worked really hard to please us though.

My husband and I had our wedding party one year ago at the Manor house. As an anniversary present my sister bought a voucher for us to enjoy a meal in the restaurant.We tried for 2 weeks at different times of the day to get through on the phone to book. Eventually I got through to the kitchen and spoke to a lovely man who took our booking.We arrived and we were told 'your not on the list but we will fit you in'.We were shown to a table.All if the glasses on the table were dirty.The cutlery had dried food stuck to it.I ordered a glass of wine it came with a free dead squashed fly on the rim of the glass.The staff were rushed and we had to call out to place a drinks order. The food was really good. We ordered steak pie, and chicken in white wine.We love the manor house. It's history and medieval nights hall a beautiful place.Unfortunately we won't be revisiting, the service was lacking and the standards were very bad.

Enjoyed the Sunday lunch, food was lovely and was a good price. Drinks were expensive. only issue is you have to go to reception to pay and the service was very slow there

Steeped in history, so for a history geek like me, it couldn't be better. The Hotel is truly beautiful, and the rooms will make you feel like you have stepped back into Medieval England and Henry the 8th's court. The food is fantastic, the spa and health club (pool etc) beautiful and well kept. The staff are so friendly and professional, and cant do enough for you.This is a true gem, and in my opinion deserves a much higher star rating. I have traveled a lot in my life, and I have rarely stayed anywhere that compares to this. The food is outstanding also. Thank you all who work at The Manor House.

The food is put of this world, I couldn't stop eating. I had to try the starter, main and desert and wow it did not disappoint. The portion sizes is really good and I couldn't move after I had finished my meal.

Food, whether lunch in the bar or in the restaurant, was of good quality, meat cooked to order and service brilliant despite them having a function in the Knight Hall. A good ratio of staff to customers and great service from all waiting and bar staff.

Just came back from a stay at the manor house hotel. It was a great break. The staff are all from the local area, which is why they are all so knowledgeable about where to visit. They are all friendly, helpful and professional. The night watchman is a super star. He told us lots of information about the place that I didn't know and I researched before going. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The restaurant and food is great, at reasonable prices. No need to go any where else. Well worth a visit.

Two course lunch as part of the spa day through Wowcher. Me and friend has two treatments and a two course lunch. We both opted for bruchetta for starters and I went for steamed fish in tomatoe sauce. My friend opted for chicken and chorizo salad. We both thoroughly enjoyed. Polite and helpful staff although understaffed at times.Delicious food. Lovely view to the garden. The fish cakes are delicious and both our main courses of lamb and duck were cooked to perfection.
