We received great service today, lovely staff and friendly manager. Our food was served hot, came out quickly and everyone enjoyed it. Will definitely return!

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and great food! Despite having quite a lot of menu items missing on our visit yesterday staff were unbelievably apologetic and helpful, working with whatever they had our food came out delightful! Slightly disappointed with the lack of steaks but impossible to place blame on the lovely bar/floor staff nothing what too much of a bother! Will definitely be back!

Staff were first of all very polite and friendly,food not so good,got a mixed grill,staff asked how i wanted my steak cooked,i said medium,steak was overdone,havent eaten carpet before but am sure this steak was a piece of carpet!!! Chips were scrappy and overdone,literally no potato inside! Half a tomato with the pith left in,cold, one sde of the gammon steak was grill burnt and tasted charcoaled,once again staff were attentive,food diabolical.

We came in for a friends birthday staff were so welcoming but there was one individual who really stood out to us, as we decided our food we asked the lady if it was table service and she informed us it was bar service now, but she still came out of her way to take our order on this occasion, the food was cooked perfectly and everyone was happy! We will definitely be returning in the future! 8 very happy customers, I think she said her name was Rebecca? But I can’t remember she is a credit to the company and you should be very happy with the service we received on our visit.

Had Sunday Dinner at the March Hare yesterday. The food was lovely and the service was brilliant. Louise our waitress was excellent and we will definitely be going back for another meal there soon.

Great food and we had a fantastic waitress serving us named Louise, food arrived promptly and was hot and cooked to our liking, would definitely go again, only downside was that Marston's have changed their policy for blue light card holders, instead of getting money off the whole order that I paid for I only received it off my own meal, so paid for my family's meal then had to pay for mine Seperate and they added the discount for that one meal, the waitress was very apologetic about this and was great with us though, overall very nice meal.

staff were very helpful especially louise, the problem is only 2 items were actually vegan or vegetatian, the other items marked with v or ve with a star are not due to being cooked with none vegan or veggie food, i find this very misleading as it is only highlighted in the really small print at the back of the menu, the venue is advertised as vegan and vegetarian friendly and is NOT this is a blatent misrepresentation.

Great food and catered very well for my gluten free diet with an ultimate spicy beef burger and fries. Staff are very friendly especially Louise our server who kept us entertained.

Great service from Louise here. The manager Craig is star quality. Nothing is too much trouble from all of the staff . We would fully recommend the steak night which has good value. Mention also for Lyndsey, Claire and Ryan who are always so welcoming.

We have been visiting The March Hare since it opened probably about 8 years ago. Always had nice meals and have had happy times there. We regularly visit there due to their Gluten Free Menu as my son has Celiac disease and becomes incredibly ill when he eats gluten.We visited the pub on Thursday 13th August, first time since lockdown. It was lovely to see the staff who know us well, but we checked the gluten free procedures before ordering - as we always do.We ordered and enjoyed our meals, then enquired about gluten free desserts. After checking with the kitchen we were offered a Rhubarb and Ginger sponge. I checked again that it was gluten free as I have never seen it on the menu. They confirmed it was. The dessert arrives and before eating it, we checked one more time that it was gluten free because it just didn't look like it was. We were assured it was definitely gluten free. My son enjoyed it so much!!However 20 minute later he was very ill which continued into the night. I took a day off work the following day as he was too poorly to be left.I emailed the pub immediately to let them know. The manageress from the pub called me back and explained the dessert was not gluten free it was vegan. She was concerned, however didnt actually apologise. She advised that head office were dealing with it. To date I haven't heard anything further. No apology for my son, no feedback and no offer of any compensation. I am utterly appalled at their lack of concern and total disregard of customers with allergies. I have since emailed Marstons again, and still no response. I am considering taking this matter further, but am unsure who to report it to.

Meals were of a mixed standard. Mine was good, although expensive for what it was.Other members of the group I was in either liked or were disappointed in their meals some describing them as a 'boil in the bag' experience. This mixed reaction lost this eatery a star....It was 'cheap eats' standard at mid-range prices.

Visited for lunch. No lite bites just full meals. Very expensive but thankfully we have the help out eat out deal. £25 lasagne, £15 gammon and chips, £20 steak. Service took forever, meals were nice . At these prices we wouldn’t visit again

A good vegan menu and food was delicious, if a little on the pricy side for what is usually a cheap eat. I’m guessing the pandemic is to blame but the food and service was great! Visited Bishop Auckland for the weekend to see family. They took contact details on arrival. We were then shown to our table the whole area had arrows on the floor to show which way to go. There was a way in and separate way out. It was reassuring that they keep customers safe. The service we received was spot on. As it’s a buy one get one free on main courses it makes the food price reasonable. Six of us could not fault the quality of the food. Will return next time I visit

Yet another example of ridiculous pricing during this pandemic. We live locally so frequented this pub often and found prices reasonable, staff polite, service polite .However since the reopening the prices have rocketed! A simple burger at around £15! Pizzas at around the same price. Yes they do 2 for 1 on mains but even so we went and 2 mains with a starter plus garlic bread, pint of lager, coke and j2o over £32!It seems places like this think it is right to overcharge to claw back the money lost during lockdown. I suggest they take a leaf from other retail venues who have not increased prices and often offer great deals at sale prices to drive custom. We won't be going back until marstons get realistic with their pricing. On the plus side the staff are polite and the place clean but please go easy on the garlic butter on the garlic bread. I want to eat it not swim in it! The staff kept this at 3 stars otherwise it would have been 1.

Another visit to this great value for money pub restaurant. Clean and airy.Full menu. Tasty food. Quite a lot for vegetarians too which was good for one of our party. Helpful, friendy staff.The only down side was the wait between courses.Play area outside for kids.An under 5 play area inside.Large car park.

Lovely restaurant haven’t been here in a good few years. Cheap and cheerful. The plant based burger is bang on 100% I thoroughly enjoyed it. My partner ordered leek and potato soup which was microwaved which isn’t a problem it’s a cheap but but stir it before serving cause he had a few mouthfuls and it was luke warm and then burned his mouth out and also there was no butter cause they put it on a warm plate and it melted all over the place, he also got chicken tikka which he said was lovely. Also his mam asked for a gluten free menu which was given and she got lovely food off there. She is celiac and she enjoyed her food. What we paid for was lovely and honestly the service was great just stir the soup before serving and I would have given 5 stars it was just what we needed.Thankyou

Not sure what’s going on but it need sorting ..... over the years I’ve put thousands over the bar in this place , it’s was never the best place in the world but more “ you gets what you pay for” .... convenience let’s say ... which I was happy to accept. Tonight was the third night on the trot it was crap and I’ve had enough . Peroni was as flat as a witches t*t , which I mentioned to at least 5 staff and was met with a grimace every time. The two spots out of five are for the garlic bread believes it or not which was lovely . Staff ain’t bothered, management ain’t bothered , so why should I be ? I’ll try somewhere else , sorry Jan, I won’t be back till I hear better vibes ...
