First time visit to Paws for 5 , had an excellent morning Kaiser our 18 week old Rottweiler puppy throughly enjoyed himself. We both had a lovely fried breakfast, tea and Lattes at very reasonable prices.

I do feel guilty writing this but my family and I agree we'd be unfair in not sharing our experience. We went for dinner so lunch & breakfast menus we couldn't comment on. The venue is stunning great location easy to park and it's trendy and housekeeping was spot on. However .. sadly food for us wasn't all we expected. The quality of meat used was notable across all the dishes we tried chicken was thigh or wing meat on the skewers and had bits that at home we would cut off ... tendons and such like ...it was also very dry as if they'd been prepped a while ago. Chorizo tasted almost synthetic and had a lot of gristle and so this affected the scotch eggs as well as the halloumi and chorizo and the hotshot parmo ... Parmo was good again though the chicken itself didn't taste of good quality and the meatballs ..same story. For myself the best of the dishes on our table were the tempura fried veg - which was in fact beautiful...and the haddock which also was really good. Aside from this upon food arriving at our table and being asked if we were all good we had no revisits ..despite 4/5 staff members being in close proximity - both myself husband and oldest son had empty glasses for some time and we were not approached to ask if we might like another drink. Then we waited and waited for the table to be cleared - it was not busy. So to be helpful we began to stack the plates so that our smaller kids didn't knock anything over. Again waiting for the offer of table to be cleared ...a drink...desserts ... A coffee? ...nothing ...we sat so long we decided to Google somewhere else for dessert and walked up to the bar to ask for the bill on our way out ...it was sadly underwhelming and we had driven a considerable way to try this place ... Has the potential to be unreal but quality of meat used and service lets this place down ATM.

After noticing it was dog friendly as we were walking past we decided to pop in . What an excellent choice we made . We were greeted by 2 extremely friendly ladies who made us both feel very welcome . I decided on Eggs Benedict and a latte which were both delicious. From the Doggie Menu sausages were chosen and were devoured with much licking of lips . My daughter who pops to seaham quite often has been informed of this little gem 💎. Ty ladies we both thoroughly enjoyed popping in . Mike and Nellie

This used to be a wonderful place to visit, all members of staff were friendly, the food was always piping hot, well portioned and very reasonable. It has undergone a few changes, one being the name - now named "The Lighthouse by Poppies". It seems the new owners have made a few changes, the decor has been vastly improved, however there are couple of new members of staff who just aren't as friendly. Furthermore, the quality of the food is terrible compared to all our previous visits. The chips which used to be absolutely wonderful are now terrible - I'm not certain if a different oil is being used, but the quality is just not there, and the meal was also served warm as opposed to hot. To add to this, the prices are much more expensive, even a can of coke is £1.50 - a can that came from a multipack! I'm afraid what was a regular place and a highlight of Seaham has now been crossed off the list. Finally, a "Traditional Turkish Breakfast"... It's an English cafe for goodness sake!!!

We dropped in here for coffee on a wild January day and sat on the outside deck to watch the waves breaking over the walls. The coffee was very good and the cherry Bakewell remarkable. Lovely staff, clean toilets, nice place all round. If you park in the harbour car park be aware that the wardens are on the ball!

Hi I'm a regular at the Black Truffle in Seaham... I pop in with friends for coffee and sometimes a nice cake or 2 .... the staff are great... very friendly and always have a smile on their faces. The food is 2nd to none and fairly priced and would recommend a visit. You can also get your drinks to go...

This was my first visit to the pub. I arrived early just after 8am . The bar was very clean and the staff friendly. I ordered the vegan breakfast and was pleasantly surprised how quickly the breakfast was prepared and served. The breakfast was hot and well cooked. The toilet facilities were spotless. I recommend this pub for anyone visiting Seaham.
