First time visit to Paws for 5 , had an excellent morning Kaiser our 18 week old Rottweiler puppy throughly enjoyed himself. We both had a lovely fried breakfast, tea and Lattes at very reasonable prices.

Total rip off. Couldn't make the booking due to one of the parry being ill so arranged a takeaway instead. Charged exactly the same price despite only the chef having anything to do with the meal. No service required as we collected it. Under no circumstances will visit ever again. Shamelessly ripped off despite trying not to cancel the booking entirely, which we could have done.

This used to be a wonderful place to visit, all members of staff were friendly, the food was always piping hot, well portioned and very reasonable. It has undergone a few changes, one being the name - now named "The Lighthouse by Poppies". It seems the new owners have made a few changes, the decor has been vastly improved, however there are couple of new members of staff who just aren't as friendly. Furthermore, the quality of the food is terrible compared to all our previous visits. The chips which used to be absolutely wonderful are now terrible - I'm not certain if a different oil is being used, but the quality is just not there, and the meal was also served warm as opposed to hot. To add to this, the prices are much more expensive, even a can of coke is £1.50 - a can that came from a multipack! I'm afraid what was a regular place and a highlight of Seaham has now been crossed off the list. Finally, a "Traditional Turkish Breakfast"... It's an English cafe for goodness sake!!!

I last reviewed this place in 2019 where my main issue was poor service and would you believe it things haven't changed. Service today was non existent. We were seated for over 10 minutes .... Not even a greeting. Front of house totally disorganised. It's a wonder the floor covering wasn't worn out because of the too-ing and fro-ing which never seemed to produce anything. This service is the worst I've experienced anywhere.. Cone on.... Get a grip !

My wife and I had travelled up from Leicester to stay in the area for a few days to visit relatives, and we decided to have our dinner at this pub. We use this chain quite a lot as we know that the food is normally fine and we won’t be charged the Earth for it. We’d never been in this particular establishment, so did not know what it was like, but were more than happy with what we found. Now, before I go into the review proper I would like to mention the clientele. My wife is temporarily in a wheelchair after having her foot operated on. As we walked down the street towards the pub and headed for the front door one of a group of young lads left the conversation they were having and literally rushed to the door to hold it open for us. We had the same experience on leaving where another young lad did exactly the same. Now, I’m mentioning this as I’m fairly certain that we would not have experienced the same treatment at any of our local Wetherspoons, so just some nice gestures that renew your faith in humanity and most especially in the younger generation of the North East of our country. We easily found a seat that we could get to with the wheelchair, and sat down to decide what to have to eat. The place was definitely a good choice for dinner, as it wasn’t too noisy or rowdy, which some of the Wetherspoons can be, and the whole ambience of the place was quite nice to have our evening meal in. We ordered our food and drink through the app, and soon after our drinks arrived. The food didn’t take long to be brought to the table and looked great. Now, just a comment here on my wife’s meal; she ordered the sticky Korean fried chicken bowl with coconut-flavour rice, but the meal wasn’t exactly as advertised on the menu, in that it was meant to have both chicken strips and balls, but only came with the balls, and it also had the chillies missing. I’m just stating this as it would have been nice to have been informed of this, unless of course no-one in the kitchen noticed their omission, but in any eventuality she still enjoyed her meal immensely. I had the mixed grill, which was also very good. We both agreed that we would unquestionably return here for food if we were in the area again.

Incredible! Food and service were absolutely spot on. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Pub also has a dog friendly area so great if you want to dine with your pups! We all had steaks and they were gorgeous - so good that we’ve booked to come again tomorrow for their steak night! Special mention to Alison and Kirsty who looked after us so well, they were very accommodating and friendly!! And the dogs loved them bringing extra treats ☺️ Thank you and see you again tomorrow!

Came into the shop as it looked lovely from the outside, the customer service was terrible. Lady did not want to give her name, but I won't be coming here again. Pot of tea came out after 10 minutes.. and tea bag was split. Place next door was a lot more friendly ...
