We've been here many times and it's such a shame it's gone down hill. It took the staff 30 mins to take our drink order, and they only came because we had to go and ask them. Another half an hour later we had to ask them again to take our order. Food was average, not as good as it used to be, which is a shame. Prices are quite steep for what you get. I've never had to pay £11 for a child's meal. And child's desserts were £7, which is very dear.

Having seen people eating delicious looking lunches recently when my daughter and I popped in for a drink, we decided to go for lunch. We chose toasties and were disappointed with the quality and quantity (bread from a sliced loaf, not much filling and about 10 chips). We heard the bar staff saying the pub is changing hands and stock is being run down (they kept telling customers that they were out of various food/drink e.g. Guinness and most desserts). Pity nothing was said, or a sign put up, before we ordered.

After having had a lovely roast dinner last time we visited we stopped off here after an afternoon of shopping hungry and full of expectation. We perhaps should’ve taken the empty restaurant as a warning and left to go elsewhere as the roast lamb dinner was one of the worst we’ve ever had….. what on earth was the mush on my plate! No lovely slices of roast lamb just soggy bits swimming in gravy, it looked more like lamb mince but tbh I’m not even sure it was lamb, it certainly didn’t taste like it, more likely to be a mixture of everyone’s leftovers! My husband had asked for lamb and paid for the extra meat supplement of beef but you couldn’t tell the difference…. Again not a slice of anything on his plate either! I’m really struggling to write anything positive, the roasties were obviously microwaved as they were hard and inedible and although probably the nicest thing on the plate the veg was bland with a mixture of greens and just one carrot….no sign of the lovely crisp parsnips we’d had last time. We did complain to the waitress upon clearing our half eaten plates and although she apologised and said she would pass our comments on, she disappeared into the kitchen never to return to us, therefore no attempt to rectify our disappointment. Not sure if this place has changed hands since our last visit or we caught them on a bad day but this visit will definitely be our last!

This cafe makes no sense, it's a garden centre not a restaurant. You are seated by someone from a podium then you wait and you wait and you wait. There are one or two people wheeling old fashioned trollies round who come eventually to take your order but the area is so big no one is served in order, I'd say, if possible, get yourself seated near the podium they're less likely to forget about you. You order and then wait for ages again, eventuality someone pushing one of the infernal trollies brings your order, the whole process reminds me of faulty towers!!. If you want dessert you can't really see what they have a you have to go back to the entrance to peer into a cabinet but when I've been things haven't had name cards. You then go back to your seat to once again go through the waiting process for the flaming trolly to rattle into view to clear your table and take your dessert order. The food is hot and miss, sometimes it's been lovely others is been awful. I don't understand why they're trying to run a restaurant, which is essentially a cafe, in a garden centre. It would work far better if you went to the counter and ordered so you weren't sat round forgotten. The prices are very high for a garden centre cafe
