An impressive influx of people at Breakfast club - my colleague even set the flippin tone at 10am! Well what can I say, yet another steady breakfast, a little more pricey than the young vanish but nevertheless just as tasty! I went old school with a sausage and bacon bap which was delicious! There was a few full English which is a set menu by the way! If an establishment lets you have a beer with your brekky then that’s automatically bonus points ain’t that right JH! We had a great view of the tele which we watched the first half of some boring St mirren game. This breakfast sorted us out nicely in preparation for our important match and even more important big night out! Kudos to Mary and the gang!

Thanks to Yvonne and Audra for being so attentive, helpful and kind when we came in for lunch. Between them they tweaked the menu for me because of special dietary requirements and didn't once make me feel like a nuisance for being so fussy! The food was beautifully cooked by Audra and all four of us were more than happy with the service. The Windmill's got a lovely atmosphere, it's a proper pub not just an eatery that sells alcohol. But it is only a small place so if you're eating it's always best to book in advance. Plenty of parking, friendly and welcoming staff, good food and great variety of drinks........what more do you need 👍🏼😊

We visit The Windmill regularly for a family lunch and are always given a warm and friendly welcome from the lovely Yvonne behind the bar. The food is always fresh, and delicious and the service is extremely efficient. Audrey is a master-chef in the kitchen. We would definitely recommend to anyone passing by or local to the area. My dad is a firm favourite of their Fish and Chips and they serve a great pint of Guinness too 🍺 cheers!

There were 4 of us who all had different meals and each one of us were delighted with our lunches which we later discovered were cooked by Audra. There were 2 of us with dietary requirements which were soon sorted with the help of Yvonne whose care was second to none. Here’s hoping both of these ladies are appreciated for their very professional and friendly approach to their work.

Our meal was ruined by customers stood at the bar vaping. We had to leave before our meal was finished as my elderly dad is asthmatic and the awful smell and fumes were making his asthma worse. The staff were nice and the food was good. It was just the awful smell from the vaping customers who could be clearly seen smoking at the bar.

Stopped off here for tea during our stay in Derby. Said they served food til 10pm and we got there about 8.20pm. Was told we might not be able to eat as the kitchen was backed up. They managed to squeeze us in for an order of 2 burgers. Food was good, atmosphere wasn’t too great. Feels very much like a locals pub. The guy behind the bar was pretty helpful.

We placed our food and drinks orders with her and when it became obvious one of our party was delayed Yvonne managed the situation beautifully so we could all eat together which we appreciated and thank her very much for. Although this pub has a nice atmosphere halfway through our visit my friend accidentally broke a glass, instead of making her a new drink the bar tender grabbed a (large) funnel and simply put the liquid through the funnel into a new glass meaning there could still have been tiny shards of glass left in the drink that my friend consumed. In my 3 years of working in hospitality I have never seen this practice done and it is incredibly unsafe and unprofessional and we shall not be returning

Yvonne is brilliant and I can't fault her. As for the other staff members I have come across one woman in particular, they are rude and disrespectful never in my entire life have I experienced such vile, rude and disgusting attitude and behaviour from a member of staff towards a customer its shocking. The food 8 times out of 10 is absolutely awful, not edible, cheap, greasy and literally thrown together my 2 Yr old would have done a better job but god forbid you make a complaint that just comes with a mouth full of abuse from the staff along with name calling and false allegations. Just so convenient that the cctv only records certain areas of the pub so no safety either. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Having eaten at The Windmill on several occasions we decided to have our friends Xmas Meal here.We are a group of seven and by booking the party menu early (in November) between certain dates we received 3 courses for the price of two and a free bottle of Prosecco. We ordered a range of starters; chicken liver pate, prawn cocktail and breaded Brie wedges; all splendid.Ben served at the table and also asked if we would like our drinks replenishing, ( nice touch in a pub to save going to the bar) something we took advantage of several times. The main courses were terrific...Traditional Hand Carved Turkey with all the trimmings was the moistest I'd ever had, a view shared by another guest who regularly eats at Darleys and The Bay Tree. The other guests had the Rib of Beef in red wine, huge piece which literally flaked with the knife. The amount of vegetables and roast potatoes would have fed us twice!!!Extra gravy provided without a sneer as in a lot of establishments. All plates cleared apart from a few roasties that we just had to give up on, to ensure we had room for dessert........ a very good move. After a breather and a few more drinks ( again Ben to the rescue ) the desserts arrived.Apple and plum pie, cookie crumb profiteroles and cheese and biscuits with a large selection of crackers ( not like Darleys)The amount of cheese !!!!As a group we all could not rate the meal highly enough and will be returning next year.A very special thanks to James in the kitchen for his efforts (especially the cheese board)Thanks to Ben again and also a mention to the other staff who always keep the drinks flowing year round CheersPs...4 of us booked the meal 2 weeks later, exactly the same quality. Ben was in the kitchen this time and Chris did the duties at the table.... Thanks again.Photos to follow (having problems loading)

4 of us went for a meal, and each had build your own board. The food arrived and was excellent quality, brilliant value for money. We then ordered a sharing board ice cream for desert - and as they were busy we were told this would take an hour!! We queried this and was told this was correct. Therefore we left without our round of drinks and went home, which was a shame as we’d enjoyed it until that point. I can understand there being an hour wait for food, but have never heard of this for deserts when mains have been eaten - especially when it was ice cream! It’s a shame but that would put us off another visit.

My wife and I were taken to the Windmill as a present for our wedding anniversary. There was an offer of "a pie and a pint" from £5.99.The menu showed a picture of a "Hunters pie" accompanied by chips and peas.We asked if chicken pies were available and were told that the they didn't have any so we ordered 3 pie and pint meals and one fish and chips meal.We were then informed that there was only one steak pie left but they had "found" a chicken pie. We were offered an upgrade to a Hunters steak and Stilton pie for two of us along with the remaining steak pie and the chicken pie. We agreed to this thus cancelling the fish and chips meal.We were eventually served one steak slice, one Hunters steak and Stilton pie, one chicken pie and one fish and chips meal.We then ordered 4 sticky toffee puddings for dessert. When these arrived they were,in fact, 4 pieces of sponge cake with a sticky covering. The host agreed not to charge for these desserts. On a previous visit to this venue on ordering a mixed grill and steak meals we were informed that steak was not available. We will not be frequenting this venue again and would advise anyone considering eating at this venue to telephone in order to check what food is available

We were very impressed with the menu, especially the all day breakfast, which my friend would have loved, but I am a small eater, but sadly, there is no child's breakfast. Getting together with family and friends we chose the windmill so my parents could relive some memories from many decades ago. It lived up to their memories. There was a large seating area outside but unfortunately it started to rain. There wasn't enough seating inside during the dinner hour as things were very crowded but we grabbed some brollies and set outside until some tables cleared. We ordered a few different meals with my father getting the last beef and ale pie as part of the pie and pint deal. My mother enjoyed the fish and chips platter. My husband enjoyed the fish and chips while I had the beef Yorkie wrap. It was a unique meal that I enjoyed though the beef was a bit hard to chew. There was a large selection of drinks available and I tried a rhubarb cider that I hadn't had before. We enjoyed a nice night out finished with the guitars coming out and some singing along to some old tunes.

Accepting the fact rump steak is a fattier piece of beef, I was not prepared for the “10oz smothered rump steak” to be riddled with fat. My fingers ached with having to saw through it- even with a steak knife. The chips were dry and tasteless, and the peas not much better. The grilled tomato had largely avoided the grill ( but my husband happily ate it). I have been eating in pubs and restaurants for around 45 years, and have never felt £13.99 to be so badly spent. This is also my first negative review on tripadvisor...ever.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon, and ordered 4 Sunday lunches. They took over half an hour to arrive, and when they did, they looked awful. The beef was grey and tough as old boots. The roast potatoes had freezer burn, and disintegrated in the mouth. The Yorkshire puddings were chewy like leather. The peas were so overdone they were like bullets. The mixed grill contained a steak, gammon steak, sausage, fried egg, chips, peas and chicken breast ! Portions are generous, so think twice about ordering and up-sizing!! The value here is excellent, the staff are very pleasant and the service was prompt. There is plenty of outdoor seating and many customers appear to be regulars who were recognised by the staff. The menu here is extensive, covering many types of food as well as pub classics. This pub is next to the main A608 road and has a car park. You order your food at the bar, give them your table number and they bring it to your table for you. There are plenty of condiments brought to each table and nothing appears to be too much trouble eg they asked if we would like the steak chopped up for our elderly friend and then brought a take-away tray when he couldn't eat all his mixed grill.

Called in for lunch... we used to frequent this pub regularly years ago but is went down hill and we stopped going. It was recommended that we try again and we were not disappointed. It is clean and well kept, guest beers and really great service. The food was brilliant, the prices aren't expensive so wrongly, you don't expect a Loy but I have to say I had mixed grill and it was one of the best I have had in a long time. The husband had the fish a chip platter and it was amazing. Really good value and very well cooked. Really really pleased and will definitely be back, and soon!

Visited for lunch with mum & dad, and the dog, Will, before going in to Derby to see the Weeping Poppies.Sat in the bar area, where there was water for the dog.Ordered meals from the 2 for £8.99 menu and one from the normal menu. Lots of choice on the menu. Portions from the £8.99 menu were of a good size. Food was nice and hot. Staff were friendly. A great area outdoors to sit but not quite nice enough to do this when we visited. Will definitely visit again!

Not many places allow dogs but this place does. Has lots of water and treats ready. Decided to have all day breakfast. Asked for eggs to be well cooked as my partner is pregnant. Waited at least 30 minutes in a quiet pub and when the food came the eggs wasn't cooked as we asked. Dessert was nice I had the profiterols which had a nice coating on them. TMy partner had the chocolate fudge cake which was a decent portion. Especially when it's 2 for 1. Overall not a great meal but not a bad one. Will go again

Clean, friendly typical country pub with a good selection of meals. Including vegetarian choices. Prices very reasonable.Meals were hot and served quite quickly, although the majority was cooked fresh. Good choice of beers and wines. An all round pleasant visit. Will certainly go again.

Called in and had a lunch and a drink, nice staff, friendly. We sat with two couples about our age and we got chatting, it turns out they call in at least twice a week, so that good enough for me. On leaving we booked a table for 5 on Saturday afternoon and yet again we all enjoyed the food Oh and we tried the beer, they have a good selection and its well kept. We will be back

We needed to visit a dog-friendly pub with food and chose this option. They had a great value for money set of options and a well-kept pint of pedigree. The food was tasty, well-cooked and good portion sizes and the vanilla ice cream was very good quality. And they welcomed our collie with open arms. All round I don't think you could find a better proper pub. Will definitely visit again.

We bought a Groupon offer based on the picture on the advert on Groupon. All we got was 3 tiny finger sandwiches with minimal filling. A cheese straw which was half the size shown in the picture. No pork pie. No sausage rolls etc. A packet of crisps shared between us. Scones were nice but our cakes were cherry slice which was topped with a very runny icing & a tiny child size fairy cake topped with hundreds & thousands. Don't let the pictures fool you!!!

Decided to have breakfast here this morning, it was quaint and picturesque... so thought would be lovely, pot of tea ordered by my husband and 2 sausage and egg cobs, ... when they came we were terribly dissatisfied, one sausage that was too small for the bread and the egg it was more like having a fried egg sandwich, the egg was an extra 75p which is OK I guess but £4.35 for one sausage 1 egg in a breadcake did not feel like good value for money. Can get a dozen sausage for less than that. Queried the waitress and she just said that's how we do it 🤨 not sorry about your disappointment or anything, seamed a little rude a response if you ask me. Safe to say we won't be returning.

Great old pub that we visit every year during the summer months, food was ok, and this year seems like standards have slipped, paddock area in the garden looking very tired and in need of a makeover, had 2 pints and only one was decent, would return but hopefully improvements made

Very nice friendly place with welcoming staff but wear your eating clothes as you will need extra room to store the food that you are served.
