We came here to celebrate my dad’s birthday and had a truly delightful evening. It was such a thoughtful gesture for the staff to give him a birthday card—it made the occasion feel even more special. The food was excellent. I had a steak that was of outstanding quality and cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and provided efficient service throughout the evening, which added to the overall experience. The decor is tastefully done with a traditional feel, creating a refined and elegant atmosphere. This is definitely a place for a sophisticated dining experience, rather than a lively or trendy vibe. Another bonus is the large, free car park, which made arriving and leaving so convenient. For a special occasion, I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I rated my meal 10/10, had the turkey dinner and it was so tasty and delicious. I'm quite fussy and have not had a meal out like that for a very very long time. It's under new management too. I think this place will be giving the other local establishments a run for their money.

Located at the Slack Lane entrance of Shipley Country Parknis this perfectly decent and spacious cafe, offering valuable refreshment to the ramblers, birdwatchers and families that frequent the park. Offering everything from cooked breakfasts, paninis, sandwiches and a wide variety of drinks and cakes, this cafe truly is a valuable part of the park. We enjoyed hot cobs and tea, along with a lovely caramel shortcake biscuit. Sadly, however, Derbyshire County Council don't seem to share this view, as their over fastidious, nit-picking intrusion into the running of the business to whom they rent the premises. The upshot of it is that last year Derbyshire County Council informed the cafe that they were increasing their rent by an extraordinary 66% As if this wasn't bad enough, this rent increase came with the stipulation that additional rent increases may well be incurred if the business continued to be successful, with level of rent increase tied directly to financial turnover and/or business profits. This would require Ramblers Cafe to submit their accounts to DCC as part of an "answerability" agreement. Thanks to a (totally justifiable) level of anger from the public, this was revised by DCC, with the renf increase dropping by 50% to a 33% increase, but with the answerability process (with all its intrusiveness) remaining in place. Perhaps unsurprisingly, despite the rent being directly linked to turnover, should the cafe's turnover drop (which is entirely conceivable, given the rise in minimum wage, rise in food/ingredient costs, rise in energy prices etc etc), the rent increase of 33% would not go down. Ultimately this has meant that this cafe has had to close its doors - and indeed will be doing so as of the end of March 2024. DCC have allowed an independent business to go to the wall because they are desperately trying to plug the haping holes in their revenue stream - gaping holes brought about by their own mismanagement. At time of writing, you still have time to visit here, and I urge you to do so!

We have just had a lovely 1 night, 2 x golf at MH with friends. We have been a few times before and are happy to return as it has always been a lovely venue. Hotel, golf, food, staff can’t be faulted. However, after golf and before we were heading home we went to the Spike Bar and ordered food in our individual couples. Some time later one of our friends received his sandwich/chips. Then we had a long wait and my husband received his Panini/chips. After a long wait my friend and I asked where our food was as our husbands had both finished theirs. Unfortunately the staff serving us were not helpful or reassuring so we had to request a refund. Sadly this was extremely poor customer service, which we do not expect from Morley Hayes. Two ladies left to go home feeling hungry and disappointed.

We visited on the 8/8/24 ,a mix of seniors including one 90yr old gentleman. This was a very special day for myself & niece who hadn't seen for sometime. We all chose our selection ok but the elder senior requested an item not listed for lunch!! After discussion with the helpful waitress his wish was granted , he thoroughly enjoyed his special Chip butty with extras & made short work of it. His day started with sadness but his surprise lunch made his day. Thankyou for the kindness.
