We visited the Three Horse Shoes as a family for Sunday dinner and we were highly impressed. It was by far the best home made Sunday roast I’ve had in a long time. The Yorkshire puddings were massive, the meat was top quality and the gravy was delicious. We also ordered cauliflower cheese as a side order which was amazing!! The pub has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely be going back again soon. It’s dog friendly too which is a bonus for us. Give it a try it’s a solid 10/10.

Simply the best Sunday lunch! Myself and my daughter had Lamb & chicken both of which were tasty and succulent. Homemade Yorkshire puddings were spot on. The selection of fresh veg were all cooked to perfection and the gravy was absolutely delicious!!! Lots of meat juices in it - just perfect. Really good value with optional extras. Absolutely would not bother going anywhere else for a Sunday roast because it could not be beaten locally.

By far one of the best Sunday lunches we’ve ever had. The customer service from the team at the Three Horseshoes is brilliant, nothing it too much trouble. Graeme is an excellent chef, you can tell he has a passion for producing high quality, well cooked food. We have also had other meals since Graeme took over and all have been first class. We will be seeing you again very soon.

Heard good reviews regarding food at the pub so thought we would try a Sunday lunch. Food was plentiful and hot and plenty of vegetables. However, potatoes were not good. We came at a later time and these tasted reheated and tough. Beef wasn’t easy to cut and cauliflower cheese not very cheesy

This pub is recently under new management and they have certainly hit the ground running. The varied menu is a cut above that which you might expect from a humble village inn with food cooked on the premises daily from fresh ingredients. The chef is keen to offer the best experience and will often will make point of checking on the diner’s experience personally. I would recommend the starter of leek and potato soup, the fish and chips and also the delicious Sunday roast which you would be hard pressed to better in the locality. The pub has a pleasant atmosphere, cheerful staff and is very welcoming to diners and drinkers alike. It is also dog friendly with bowls of water and treats on the bar for your furry friends with the added bonus of large beer garden for those long summer evenings. Diners would be wise to book ahead as this new eatery is becoming increasingly popular.

I had read a Newspaper Article about the Three Horseshoes selling Award Winning Burgers made by a Local Farmer. Sounded good, so had to be worth a visit. The Burger came in a Bun with Cheese, Plenty of Bacon, Homemade Chips and Garden Peas for less than £10-00. The Burger met every expectation. A Glass of Marstons Pedigree to accompany was equally satisfying. A very pleasant lunch indeed.

This place has always been a good choice if you want home cooked food at a price that's reasonable. Its a lovely old pub. In fact I think my parents used to visit this place when they dated some moons ago! Anyway, I fancied a cheese and onion sandwich, chips and a pint of shandy... wow not disappointed. Home made and I mean home made chips! Lovey sandwich with salad and crisps. Absolutely delight. So good I went back the same week and ordered the lasagna! Dont drive past this place. Its lovely and has nailed it for the pub scene with good nice Pedigree and lovely food.. Warm welcome too!

Four of us had an evening meal here recently, I would rate the four meals as 4 star, 3 star, 2 star and 1 star. Various things were not available, some of which we were told of prior to ordering, which is fine, but some we were not. One of us was also given the wrong vegetable with the meal. My meal luckily was the four star meal , well cooked and generous portion. The one star meal was poor, no presentation and slopped into the middle of what was quite similar to a soup dish. The portion size and meal was similar to a Morrison’s £2 ping meal, and was no better. My 83 old mum could have eaten it all and still had room for a sandwich for supper when she got home. I’ve been here in the past, not very recently, but not so long ago, with a group of mates and we all had good food, puds drinks and a grand time was had by all, in fact we left quite late we were having such a good time. But on this occasion it was very disappointing.

A really good range of food, and good beers in a traditional pub, conveniently located a few miles from Derby, and in our case, walking distance from Oakwood. The food choices are extensive, with both a standard menu and a wide ranging daily specials menu too. Beer choices are good with real/keg ales plus more usual offerings. Our food was both well cooked and delicious with generous portion sizes. Service was friendly and efficient. All told very good value.

Plumped for the scampi, and was offered a choice of potatoes or chips, and either salad or veg. Chose the chips which were homemade and delicious, and salad which was fresh and varied. Had the above menu with 12 other family members. A number of us unfortunately chose the prime rump steak which on the special menu would be "cooked to order". As all the people who ordered the steak were unhappy as it was very tough and overcooked. The serving staff were very young and didn't communicate with the diners. I asked the young lady who took my plate away to ask the chef whether my "steak" had never seen a cow". She said "yes" but I didn't get any response. There was a poor selection of vegetables, some were al dente, other were soggy. We were very disappointed, it wasn't as though the resaurant was very busy!!.

Stopped here for a quick Meal on Friday night 28th jun 18 after being out for the day. Reasonable parking and outside seating in an adjacent garden. Whilst the meal and drinks were reasonably priced the locals in the bar made you feel as though you were in the way after having to ask if they would move so we could access the restaurant. One of them did subsequently sit on the table next to use in an empty restaurant but turned her back rudely. Seemed to be the only pub in a few miles so ok if you need a value meal and beer and the locals are not in. Hope this helps

I visited with my mother after not being here for over a year but remembering how good the home cooked food was. Once my food was brought out I asked if I could have Stilton swapped for cheddar as that’s what it said on the menu. I was told I could but would have to pay extra. I asked to speak to the manager who told me I would be charged as that’s what the menu said. I ate my meal which was good but decided to check the menu as I would never have ordered Stilton. Upon this I saw that the burger I ordered did have cheddar and no Stilton. I asked a young lad working if I could speak to the manager again as my burger should have had cheddar and various other things. The boy told me that the particular burger I’d ordered didn’t have all these thing. I told him he had the wrong burger then and that I hadn’t ordered the one he’d referenced. I asked the waitress who took my order of she remembered my order and very rudely told me that I had ordered something I hadn’t and stormed off. I waited 15 minutes before having to ask for the manager again before she finally came to speak to me and admitted the order of received had been wrong. The only fall back she had was that it had come through to the kitchen like that and there was nothing she could do. As a business owner I know how important customer service is and being treated like this and then effectively called a liar and not even being offered a free round of drinks or something by way of compensation for being treated like that is appalling. The Managment was more interested in covering for the mistake the staff member had made than looking after customers. My mum and I left feeling very annoyed as we were clearly being watched and talked about. Lesson here, is be respectful and polite to customers at all times. Mistakes happen and whether by a manager or member of staff accept them and apologise and offer to make it right. I will not be visiting here again and won’t be recommending it. Sadly it could have been rectified with a smile and apology for the misunderstanding, and the manager was given plenty of chance, but she hid in the kitchen instead. Real shame.

Visited here for the first time even though we have lived locally for years, with my daughter my friend and her daughter. First impression on walking in was that it seemed a little dark old fashioned and was so quiet we resorted to whispering, but was very clean. There was another 4 diners in but there was no atmosphere. A little later another group came in so it wasn't so quiet then has they were chatting and laughing like us!!! The food was lovely definitely home made but if I had to be picky I like homemade chips to be a bit thicker and a bit more cooked. What really let this pub down was the drinks they were extortionate in price!!!! £6.10 for a pint of lemonade and half a carling and lime. This is more expensive then the exclusive golf place further up which I might say I love but don't go often to cause of the price of the drinks but at least you expect that cause it's attached to the golf course. Here I would not expect drinks to be expensive!!! Other older reviews have said the same. To sum up: the place needs updating the food was lovely so well done to the chef BUT the drinks were very overpriced !!! Might return for the food but will ask for tap water.

Long much anticipated visit to this establishment turned put to be so disappointing. Pre drinks turned up an undrinkable beer, which was replaced. My meal was a small monkfish tail served only with a serving of chilli rice which was lacking in flavour and so hot as to be inedible for me. When asked by the waitress whether we had enjoyed our meals, I politely told her that I had not eaten the rice as I had found it far to hot. The reply came back from the kitchen " It said chilli on the menu"

Wed 18th April 2018 12 noon. On entering we were greeted by the barman and found a table and looked at the menu. I decided on a curry with rice and my companion on a burger with blue cheese which i ordered with drinks. The pub itself was very tidy and clean with a relaxing atmosphere. My curry came in a bowl with rice on one side and curry on the other. The rice was cooked ok and the curry was tasty if not a little dry, could have done with more liquid to go with the rice, a popadom and some mango chutney would have been nice to go with it. My companions burger was nice but a little overcooked for his liking and it came with chips. It has been mentioned by other diners that they were not the best, and we do agree they could be better. They seem more like french fries and although they looked brown they were a bit soft and needed to be a little bigger. To sum up , nice and friendly pub , very clean and tidy but we felt the food needs a little tweak.

My Wife and I really love it here, old school pub with an honest menu, great prices and friendly, welcoming staff. A great example of how pub food should be, with great quality beer and real ale. The beef & steak especially seem excellent quality, and it's one of the few places around Derby that serve steak which tastes of anything other than chewy water!! The chips seem to be cut from a potato by a person, always a good sign, and nothing feels like it has seen a factory or microwave.Only about 8-10 tables so you may not get a table, we've been 4+ times and I've never seen any children there, you have to go to the bar to order food and very reasonably priced so don't expect Michelin starred service. Deserved a great review for over a year from me, but I haven't posted one until now as I thought it may give me a better chance of getting a table if people don't know how good it is. Great job, keep up the good work

Have eaten here a couple of times and always had good, reliable pub food. On this occasion we were with friends and had opted for the Christmas menu, which was a bit hit and miss to be honest. Some of the meals were fine, but some weren't. The turkey was dry and tasteless (just why people don't have turkey at Christmas!) and the lamb was so 'pink' it was literally raw and inedible. In fairness, they did offer to re-cook it, but if they were going to serve this meat on the pink side, then they really should ask people how they want the meat cooked. We passed this message onto them, but weren't sure they actually took it on board. All in all, it was a very average experience, which is a shame as I know they can do so much better. Even the service wasn't at its best - bit indifferent.Still worth a visit, but best advice is stay away from the Christmas menu and stick to their regular one!

We have had about 6 meals at this pub & generally the food is reasonable, not outstanding, but o.k. Tonight we had our 'Thursday night Christmas dinner' (We go out every Thursday to different local eateries). Firstly the dish of vegetables arrived when we were half way through our meal, 1/2 to 1/3 of my wifes lamb was inedible & my Christmas pud was the size of 3 after dinner mints stacked on top of each other (no exaggeration). The coffee although not instant, was weak to the point of tasteless & I suspect the mince pies were from a pound shop ( maybe a slight exaggeration). Complaint yielded the perennial ' I'll tell the chef'. When it came to paying I asked what the chefs response was - the reply ' he sends his apologies'. - Me 'Is that it?'. -Bar person 'yes'. Unfortunately, like far too many English people, my companions do not like complaining about substandard food & service, they prefer to 'vote with their feet'(????), so deferring to their wishes I did not take the matter further. To sum up what should have been an enjoyable run up to Christmas was to say the least, disappointing.

Visited here whilst in the area. Took over 20 mins to get served at the bar...Server #1 couldn't take my order as the single till was in use (ordering food) - then proceeded to serve a long drinks order to someone else....they then completely ignored me and served food to someone else...! Must have been some new staff (or very poor existing) as they were having issues with the till.Once eventually did order, didn't get asked if wanted tab/payment, so 'assumed' that would be a tab (and paid at the end) - though some others were paying at time or ordering, so a little confusing. Manager was heard complaining about her staff not adding table numbers to ordersDidn't other us, but dogs were in the main bar area (one on floor, one sat on seat) - one was off lead and roaming around whilst people eating - so if that doesn't appeal, I wouldn't visit. When food came, it was 'average' - I had burger/chips which was OK portion size, but chips a little greasy and Onion rings extremely greasy - others in the party has better experience, so maybe a lottery on what you order/who cooking itOverall, not bad, but had better, cheaper and significantly quicker

The outside looks like a nice traditional pub with a lawned garden albeit on the roadside. Inside looks a bit tired and plain. A good choice of beers on the pumps, some I hadn't seen on draught before. The barman was sweeping the floor when we walked in and I expected him to put the broom down and serve us but he carried on sweeping, he may of just been giving us more time to choose, he was pleasant enough, a man of few words but laid back. He took our order and we went into the garden. The food was great! The ham was a good quality meat, the gammon was not salty and the eggs were cooked to perfection. For a no nonsense meal and a pint it was great but not for a special occasion meal, in my opinion anyway.

Been here quite a few times and the food is always good, piping hot and chips have always been proper chips which is very rare these days, it is either frozen or twice or triple cooked chips, chips in three horses were excellent home made and very tasty and i do not eat chips very often, but what has happened they are awful now, they look like they have been kept warm and reheated and taste of oil, i do not know if they have changed their supplier of potatoes because they are cheaper but please go back to original chips i would rather you put the meals up a bit, as they are very good price anyway, than have these awful chips. Apart from that all good. I will return to see if things change if not it is a shame that something was very good in todays, frozen, tasteless, cardboard chip era.

She came out said to him right what you having totally ignored us and serves him obviously we walked out terrible customer service and we will definitely not be returning here and will advise others (unless your a regular) to go

Myself and best friend called in at 14:50 for some lunch. We found the bar staff very friendly and acommodating. The choice of fayre was reasonable with options from a menu and a specials board. I chose their chilli con carne with chips and my friend chose the steak which she said was extremely nice. My chilli was in fact for me perfect with the correct mix of minced beef and veg. The chilli "spark" was made with fresh chillis and not powder and of medium strength. The chips here are home made and superb in flavour. I gave that a 5/5 rating. My dessert was a petit four plez (sp) which was a delight and was a centred scoop of ice cream with four different radials of delicious homemade tarts

Tried this pub because it's local to us but continue to go back because we enjoy it. We always receive a warm welcome from the friendly staff and enjoy the choice of well-kept beer and other drinks. The standard menu gives plenty of choice and the specials board adds variety (they cope well with gluten-free - not huge range, but they know what they're doing). Prices are very reasonable & their chips, in my opinion, are a must. Toilets are clean. Good local walks.

A decent little pub with good beers. When we went in it was a little quiet, but the barmaid was welcoming and it looks like a good place to stop off for a drink on a bike ride.

Great food and plenty of it, freshly cooked and very tasty. Good prices if not the best décor, not that that should detract from the food

Driving back from Shipley Park, myself and my partner fancied a nice Sunday lunch, we happened to clock this lovely looking pub. As we entered the three horseshoes, we were greeted by two of the most friendliest staff I have ever met, who recommended drinks and made us feel so very welcome. We ordered a lamb and pork Sunday dinner, which was very well presented with a side of vegetables (carrots, broccoli and cauliflower). The mash potato had cheese mixed in, very lush indeed. :-)

I couldn't give the place a higher rating as it's not a restaurant. It's a pub that serves very nearly restaurant quality fayre. I had the chilli con carne which although heated with chilli powder was very nice in other respects. I was given the choice of rice or chips as I'd eaten there before I elected the chips. These are home made and are spectacularly delicious, only slight downside was I didn't get enough of them. My eating partner had the sirloin steak which she said was delicious and cooked as ordered and to perfection. The staff I saw was very friendly and accommodating. Although situated by a busy main road, there's no doubting that we were in a Derbyshire village pub. It was nice and relaxing. I would recommend this place to anyone even the most discerning as the quality of their food says it all.

Do not be deceived by the outside in thinking that this a big pub it is not, it is a cosy traditional pub serving a good range of real ales and proper pub grub, good portions, well cooked, tasty and at a reasonable price.

My neighbourgh gave me a recommendation as I wanted to take my friend Viv out for lunch after she very kindly took my little dog home with her as I was so very poorly, she took care of her for a week and then when I was back on my feet she took me in too 4 4 days, feeding me and Poppy.I booked lunch 4 1o'c, we arrived early so sat and had a a drink, our meal was brought to our table, piping hot and beautiful with lots of fresh veg, followed by fresh meringue pie and cream, it was so beautiful and all less than £20. We are most certainly going back there. Happy staff and lots of smiling faces. We love it Jo 1pm 30th April. Thankyou

A great village pub with fayre that lived up to expectations set by the menu. Nothing pretentious but some great homecooked food. The staff were friendly and helpful which made our brief visit enjoyable. We were staying nearby and glad we called in.

Myself and a mate called in the Three Horseshoes for a couple of pints and a bite to eat. We had gammon and an omelette. Both were well cooked, served with home made chips / new potatoes and fresh salad. We followed with equally nice desserts. In summary: the food was excellent; the lady behind the bar (who also served the food) was very friendly and polite; the atmosphere was really nice and the prices were very good. Undoubtedly we'll be back for more.

Me and a friend went today to have a 'catch up' lunch and we're looking for a new pub to try to see if we could find a new golden gem. We entered the pub to a fusty smell and a cold welcoming. We were wanting food and in all fairness we did get there at 2:50 not know knowing they stopped serving at 3pm. We asked the bar maid if they were still serving which we were told with a big huff yes. We asked for the menu were the bar maid stood over us making placing an order feel like a make it break decision. After I decided we were rushed to put our order through and couldn't do it separately because by the time my friend would have put hers through the kitchen would be closed (how we were made to feel). So after this 10 minute drama we decided to leave and I'm sorry but with that kind of service, pressuring staff I won't be going back. I got to the pub for a pleasant experience not for a game of deal or no Deal!

This quaint pub is traditionally British through and through. The pub is nicely decorated however, looks aren't everything, try their ales and you will be flabbergasted, outstanding and a perfect pint every time. The food is home cooked and is to die for. The home made chicken nuggets are a great starter, the chips are not your regulated 'fries' the they are home cut and home fried, absolutely gorgeous. Worth a second, third and more visits.

After a big muddy stomp around the local countryside a proper pub meal was what was needed. We happened upon The Three Horseshoes and tentatively decided to give it a go as from the outside it's probably not the most appealing pub and is located on a busy road. Once inside you're transported back to a traditional pub with a friendly, welcoming land lady. There's an extensive menu and a specials board but it was an easy descision and we both opted for steak and kidney pudding. We certainly weren't disappointed as it came with perfect homemade chips and garden peas (mushy peas, beans or veg were also offered as alternatives) I can honestly say that it was one of the tastiest pub meals I've had for years and so reasonably priced. 2 mains and 2 drinks and change from £20! We will definitely be returning!

Went there for a meal last week and really enjoyed the food, the drinks, friendly staff and overall pleasant experience. It's great to find a traditional pub like this, that is well kept, very clean and that offers great value for money. There are loads and loads of big brand pubs out there, which are fine in their own way, but pubs like this should be supported, as they offer a much friendlier and more personal service. The food was excellent, especially the home made and cooked chips . . Can't remember the last time I found these in a pub. The portion sizes were generous and I cannot fault. The whole place was very very clean, with the windows gleaming and everything inside gleaming . . There are not many around like this anymore . . Great standards, clearly set by people that know what they are doing and are experienced in the pub business. I shall be back there again and would recommend to others.

I originally started going to the 3 horsehoes to drink with workmates. The Pedigree bitter is superb ! Your can , if you want try the guest ales of which there are usually 2 or 3The hosts and their staff make you most welcome, whether you are there purely for a drink , a meal or bothThe menu is wide and interesting and the prices are very reasonable. This is a venue you can have a casual drink in or a more formal dining experience. The atmosphere us always good

The Three Horseshoes is a non-chain pub serving down to earth food. Had the fish and chips (beer batter). The fish was beautifully cooked and the batter delicious. They have a small selection of real ales. The menu isn't extensive but if you want some "proper" pub food, freshly cooked in a friendly atmosphere then this is the place to come.

Nice small pub with real ales and home cooked food. Not a fine dining place by any description though. The steak was overcooked, and the big meat feast a bit heavy on the gammon. On the plus side the food was cheap and perfectly acceptable for a pub.

This pub is superbly located with ample parking, plentiful outside seating and a great children's play area in a gated garden area.It is a very quaint, old pub, so don't expect a large modern interior. It's quiet the opposite, but clean and well kept all the same. The beer is good - although not diverse in choice and you would say slightly above average in price. The food, although not overwhelmed in choice, is varied with a regularly changing specials board and more importantly, home cooked, tasty and excellent value. If you visit, you will not be disappointed.

Visited as a family with kids on a sunny mid week night. This is a nice, clean pub with a good sized outside area and plenty of parking, as well as a bus stop right outside. Welcomed by friendly staff and good choice on menu as well as specials board. Kids had chicken in batter and chips, I had bacon burger and husband had a curry. All the meals were only just warm and not greatly presented. Kids meals were on the greasy side and the bacon on my burger was that crispy it was solid. Over priced for what we got. If the food quality was better we would have visited again as venue and staff were really nice. However, another pub up the road has nice location, nice staff and quality food at the same price.

Called in for a late lunch and it was excellent. Freshly cooked fish and chips, large succulent cod and chunky haddock with crispy batter and great chip portion sizes. Friendly service with a smile and lovely clean welcoming environment. Feels so much nicer than sitting in a shop window as it’s a proper restaurant. Spotted a young family whose children even took the time to say thank you themselves too. It wasn’t busy at 3pm in the restaurant which is probably an odd time to eat but it suited our day. I’d highly recommend going and trying it for yourself. Keep up the good work Sea Fish and thank you for the experience.
