A great value meal. Excellent quality with wonderful chips! Great service without a too long waiting time. The portions were very generous.

We went for Christmas Dinner 2023 What an excellent time we had. There were 12 of us and all the staff from the bar, front of house and kitchen staff couldn't do enough to make sure everyone had a relaxing Christmas dinner. Well done to every single member of staff 👏 highly recommend

Visited the Greyhound today and last week with friends. Both occasions were faultless. Excellent value Lunctime menu. Service is always friendly and meals are very tasty and quick to arrive after ordering. Just wish more people would give this pub a chance at lunchtimes. They are really missing a treat.

Popped in at 7pm tonight hoping to get a hot meal and received a very warm welcome. Got a couple of pints and a table for two and ordered the homemade pies and curry of the day off an extensive menu. Lovely meals and didn’t have to wait long and we were impressed with the very friendly service. Will definitely be back. Thank you!

Just wanted to say what a lovely meal we had at The Greyhound Belper on Saturday! Our starters were delicious and perfectly sized. The mains were just as lovely. The thing that impressed me most was the child's fish and chips that I ordered for my 1 year old (she eats loads!). It was a proper meal just smaller. No fobbing us off with processed rubbish just cos kids "don't appreciate good food" it was proper home cooked chips and battered fish with juicy peas. Decent price and sized kids meal! The beer was also good. The dessert was a proper homemade cheesecake. Overall massively impressed!

Myself and my partner made an impromptu visit to The Greyhound. We were cordially welcomed by Ben who had recently taken over as landlord. We stayed in the bar area and ordered our food. (There is also a slightly more formal restaurant area if you prefer). There is a good selection on the menu. I decided on the mixed kebab and my partner had the jerk chicken. Both meals were delicious as was the ice cold Moretti. We will be visiting again soon. Recommended.

Nice welcome. Waitress was so friendly and lovely Food was ok. Prawn cocktail was served on a hot plate , so ended up warm and runny! Roast beef dinner was ok, but they had no horseradish ( co op is next door so you’d think they’d buy some from there ) Fish and chips were nice. Burger was nice. Lasagne was ok. Best thing we’re the homemade chips, can’t comment on Dessert as we didn’t have any

We’ve been here twice over the last few weeks, and can certainly see ourselves becoming regulars. Staff are very friendly and welcoming which adds to the nice “buzz” of the place. We had table service for both food and drink, and were served very quickly. Three of us had Fish n Chips… including the hand cut chips which are just yummy…😋 😋 another had the burger which was very tasty, and lastly the hubby had lasagne after having it the last time we were in and enjoying it so much he had to order again 😋😋 The bill for the 5 of us was very reasonable and included a bottle of the Jack Rabbit Sauvignon Blanc (which I can thoroughly recommend 🥂) along with a few pints of beer and more wine 🍷. Overall this was a lovely place to have lunch, a great atmosphere and excellent customer service. We’ll definitely be back…. 😋😋

Booked for a family meal - 11 of us and everyone’s food was lovely- well presented and nothing was too much trouble for the staff- they even switched off a speaker for us as a couple of our party are a bit hard of hearing...

10 of us had Christmas Dinner here today, considering they had been left in the lurch recently the experience was brilliant. Food was amazing and all served with very friendly and polite staff who were very attentive. Awesome.

Amazing Greek Night!Hubby, daughter & I went to the Greek Night. Fantastic atmosphere, service & food! We had a meze of starters, all you can eat main course and a fab trio of mini desserts. Best restaurant experience in a long time. Really hope there are more theme nights soon. Very good value for a first class experience.

We had a lovely meal last night and would highly recommend the kebabs.We have to mention Hannah as she is amazing at what she does. Her customer service skills are outstanding and she should be made Manager to lead a team by her high standards.We had an issue which she sorted really well and on that basis we will be returning and suggest anybody wondering gives it a try.

Had a lovely meal in the beer garden on a summer evening. Good pub food - the batter on the fish was excellent and the vegetarian curry was spicy and well flavoured. The service was excellent, speedy and friendly. We were entertained by the birdsong from the giant budgie cage in the garden. A great neighbourhood pub.

This is the first time we’ve visited our local since moving here 6 months ago, and we are SO impressed! The menu is extensive and most importantly for us includes lots of gluten free options. The staff were very friendly and service was quick; we sat in the beer garden which is a lovely setting too. 10/10 we’ll definitely be back!

We saw the steak advert on facebook for steak and homemade chips for £6.When we parked up on the street wasnt too sure from the outside but there is a large restaurant to the right.Very busy inside and we were told it may be abit of a wait.The staff were quite young but they very efficient and polite.All I can add is it was well worth the wait the steak was beautiful we did add on quite a few extras pepper sauce onion rings tomato salad you name it we had it.The overall meal was really good and at less than £40 for two ribeyes 2 alcoholic drinks each and a full plate of yummy ness.What a greanight.Well worth a visit

I've been to the Greyhound a few times, as its very local to us. It's our go-to place when we have family and friends visiting, as the food never disappoints - particularly a fan of the build your own burger! The staff are very friendly and helpful.. Keep it up!

I visited with my family on 2nd February 2020. Food was average and customer service very poor. What made it worse was my son took ill very suddenly complaining of a headache, the nesxt minute he was sick on the floor. We let the staff know and tried to cordon off the area with chairs. The manager told my son to clean it up himself. We were outraged and left. The manger followed us onto the car park where he goaded my husband as he knew he was already angry. I managed to get my husband out the way and the manager went inside. I have since found out the manager has shown cctv footage of the incident to someone we both mutually know who was there at the time. I would never got there again.

Visited here last week ordered scampi and chips off the main menu when it came I was a little surprised that I only received 6 pieces of scampi in a basket and the peas were in a pot once tipped out onto the plate it was no bigger than a childs meal Been here a few times before and generally the portion sides have been ok however I wouldn't advise ordering the scampi if your hungry !

We booked a place at The Greyhound for a Wake.The staff allocated a private space for us and provided a buffet lunch. The food was plentiful and very tasty. I kept going back for more,always a sign that I approved. Price was very reasonable. Unlimited tea and coffee was available. All in all a place I would recommend.

Just popped in on our way out of Belper and what a result! We were served by lovely friendly staff and the food was gorgeous! A family gathering. We all shared platters which were good. Mine was fish and chips very good. Pedigree was up to standard. There was a party which stated early with a disco, very noisy so we left early, shame. Will probably go again.

Went here for a family meal 6 adults 3 children. Service left a lot to be desired. After hearing great things expected maybe too much. Meat severely overcooked to the point was inedible and resembled leather. Staff couldn't care. Also compared to other places where the food was far superior it was very expensive

We popped in early one Saturday lunchtime, the staff are extremely well organised and the premesis is spotless. We opted for the vegan Roasted Vegetable, Hummus & Rocket wraps and chips, they were delicious. We definitely recommend eating here.

One of my favourite food places in this area . Really comfy eating area and food never fails to impress. I don't eat out on Sunday lunch as I don't think they are well cooked and prefer my own but the Sunday lunch at the greyhound is the exception as they are truly excellent.

Ive been here on many occasions this time I went for lunch with mum and dad . On arrival it was lovely to see the beer garden open and lots of people making use of it well it was such a glorious day . The lovely pleasant landlady Coral always makes us welcome and looks after us regarding our food intolerances , Well to be honest all the staff do and they are all friendly . The new menu was really very good with loads more choices for GF / DF they even have loads more vegan options too . It’s obviously shows a lot of thought has gone into putting this new menu together catering for everyone. Me and mum both had the Lentil burger topped with vegan cheese and salsa in a lovely soft GF bun with sweet potato fries dad had pie of the day served with chips and gravy . For pudding me and mum went for the GF / Vegan crumble served with vegan ice cream dad had lemon drizzle cake . We all had such a lovely afternoon .

Food great. Would be here more if dogs could come in the main section. The back bar is not that nice and spoils the meal. Lighting too bright and people playing pool. Not what you like when eating. Maybe a nice section in the main part so away from people who don’t like dogs.

Just had a birthday lunch at the Greyhound. 14 of us including 4 children. Lovely table in the bay window. Service was just right, staff were attentive - not too fast so we felt rushed so too slow that we had to chase them. Lovely little garden area which was great for the kids. The chickens were well loved! Food was nice. 3 options for Sunday roast, a good few specials and a good varied menu. Desserts were delightful especially the sharing platter. All in all a lovely meal in a family friendly place. Definitely come again.

Having seen the website and menu we thought we would drive to Belper and give it a try. There is plenty of off road parking accessed via a driveway by the Coop.

Just had an excellent meal for Mother’s Day! Lovely food and great value for money. £20.95 for 3 courses and they didn’t skimp on the sizes either! The service was very good too. My mum was over the moon with the food - she polished off the lot which she doesn’t normally do. I feel lucky to have this pub as my local! Highly recommend.

These guys keep reinventing and updating. The staff are always a delight and the meals are wonderful. I’ve been reminded to leave a review again after trying the new Chilli Dog! OH YES, that’s a winner, winner ... sausage dinner. Give it a try!

We have visited The Greyhound for food 3 times over the last 10 months since moving nearby. Each time we’ve been delighted with service, food and drink. This 3rd visit with an extended family group, all equally pleased with the experience. Will continue to visit!

Not been here in a while. Used to visit regular, until it got full of young lads smoking and swearing at the doorway. Anyhow, thought we'd give it another go...wish we'd not bothered!

called in for a drink with my wife after going to see a production by belper musical theatre at the high school belper which was brilliant.that was an absolute mistake calling here for a drink. SMALL GLASS OF RED WINE and a pint of abbot bitter was £8:25. I think that price is dearer than the savoy hotel in London.will definitely not be calling again.

Attended the wake of a good friend at this establishment a couple of weeks ago. Good parking, nice atmosphere, nice bar staff. Food was well laid out and fresh. Excellent spead.

We popped in last minute today (sunday at 12ish) and asked for a table for 7, they were very accommodating and found us a nice large table. Most of our party had the sunday roast which was delicious and great value at £11ish (for a large). We have a 1 and 3 year old and ordered them a children's meal to share as they'd had a sandwich an hour ago. The lady even brought an extra plate without asking which was lovely and they had plenty of highchairs. The staff asked us several times how our food was and if we needed anything else. Visited this pub with my partner as we had heard good things and we was not disappointed. Very big inside and would be good for groups, it was a quiet night but this was fine and to be expected. Staff very friendly and informative. We ordered off the specials menu and the food arrived promptly and tasted very good. Portion size was decent and we left full and happy!

Visited as I googled gluten free near me and this came up. Close to us but hadn’t been in for food. Easily found us a table even though we hadn’t booked. Good gluten free choices although I didn’t look at puddings as was stuffed! Just had mains, I had chicken and ribs. Lovely home cooked chips and homemade coleslaw. Slightly awkward service but more of a personality thing as apposed to bad service. Husband enjoyed his massive burger and it beat him! He upgraded his chips to sweet potato fries. Only thing I would suggest is table mats as plates very slippy on tables and kept spinning!

We only visited here twice during our stay and on both occasions the same group of dole scrounges were in there, drinking Bacardi and playing pool whilst generally being loud. Although this was not the fault of the owners, beware that it seems to be a haunt of theirs. Place was clean and tidy and has sport on and I have heard that the food was good, so it would be unfair to judge based on our brief visits, but given that it is in the centre of the housing estate, i dare say it’s somewhere for the locals. Dog-friendly though and nothing to complain about - other than the company.

We regularly visit The Greyhound, and it has become clear to me that this pub has two very different sides to it, quite literally. If you enter from the street (not the rear car park), you want to be sure to go in the lounge on the right hand side. In here you can expect quality food cooked to a very high standard, and welcoming service from the staff. Perhaps it's a little on the higher priced side, and it seems to come across as a bit more upmarket than your average gastropub, but we've always had an enjoyable meal and felt like valued customers. The neighbouring room, advertised as the bar, is very different indeed. This is where the local "ne'er-do-wells" tend to hang out to shout, swear and get generally rowdy. To attract two very different types of customer I imagine is very good for business, and they do a good job of keeping the two apart, but as a customer just make sure you don't accidentally enter the wrong side, or you may be in for a shock.

We visited on a warm Thursday evening with our dog. The greeting from all of the staff was very friendly, they were both helpful and attentive. We requested to eat outside as we had our dog with us but we were also offered a table inside with the dog.

Made me my wife and my dog very welcome. The menu is very good and the food was excellent, it was a very hot evening and the waiters were very attentive and provided water for my dog.

I have been to the Greyhound many times and would usually recommend it, but after visiting earlier this week I have been put off. I asked to close a door as smoke was drifting inside (I had my young daughter with me, otherwise I wouldn’t have minded as much). The man behind the bar was so rude and dismissive.

I really like this pub, good atmosphere, music, and they also have sky sports for football. They have a lovely beer garden and seating area what have a little play area, enclosed as well so feels more like a beer garden and the pub grub is lovely

The menu has changed since we last came but still has all the traditional pub favourites. There was twelve of us including four children and it was good to see them serve the children first. All the meals are freshly cooked, hot , tasty and there is a specials board to browse as well. I had the special sea bass salad which was delicious. The Lamb tagine was a favourite along with the Stilton burger , gammon steak, and chicken melt .

Ten in the group all family, all ate different meals. All things served hot and well cooked. Desserts different and tasty. Good beer selection. All staff very good. Will go again

Decided to go for a birthday meal. All staff were helpful and friendly. We had a selection of main courses. Al were well cooked and hot. The Tribute beer is well worth it. Minor the criticism the batter on the cod was a little too well done. Will go again.

Went here for a evening meal with the family . We received excellent service even though the pub was really busy . All eight of us really enjoyed our food , Me in particular I went for the Gluten Free fish and chips with a side of Gluten Free onion rings . I may just have to visit again soon to try out the other Gluten Free options .

We had a last minute booking to the Greyhound thanks to Tim and Coral they managed to squeeze us in at the last minute.

We had a wonderful family lunch here! With our one year old and a four year old grandchildren it is important to feel relaxed and welcome - the atmosphere was calm and friendly and the children were happy. The food was delicious and portions generous. What a lovely place to share a family meal - we will be back!

Dropped in by chance whilst visiting friends in the area. Pleasantly surprised. Great welcome and good home cooked food. A bit more expensive than the typical chain pub but worth the extra. Would recommend and will visit again. Great bar atmosphere as well.

Today the restaurant was heaving as it was Mothering Sunday. We booked ahead in advance for a party of 10, and were told it was going to be very busy so we would be allocated a two hour slot. This was more than enough time...

My wife and I called in for lunch (well worth booking a table as it can get busy). My wife had the small carvery choosing beef. This is brought to you. Roasters, stuffing, mash beef and gravy on plate. Veg comes desperate and a gravy boat. Beef tender. I had the burger and pint offer. Superb burger and home made chips crispy in outside and soft inside - perfect.

Met up with family we all traveled and dined here tonight as a party of 14.

A family group of six visited The Greyhound for Sunday lunch based on previous recommendations on TripAdvisor as we had never heard of the pub before. First impressions were positive as the decor was nice and the bar presented a broad selection of beers.

I like your service it is very quick and your food is amazing and the sofas are comfortable and I like the layout and the name. My most favourite pudding is WAFFLE.

Four of us visited and were met warmly at the door and directed to a table. Our drinks order was taken quickly and the menus and specials were explained. We ordered a mixture of Sunday’s roasts, the beef was very tasty, and another meal. All were served quickly and were hot and tasty. The staff were pleasant and attentive without us feeling rushed. The meals were excellent, tasty and good value. A very good meal.

Fillet steak was very high quality and perfectly cooked. Chips superb. Beef Bourguignon very flavoursome with tender meat. Desserts of Jam Sponge and Choc Orange Cheesecake also superb (although the offer of Ice-cream, cream or custard(!!) with the cheesecake made me chuckle). Quick, friendly service, and a reasonable price. Will definitely return.

I have visited the Greyhound today as I won a free Roast dinner in a competition - it was delicious! I have never had a bad meal here and I am so lucky that this is my local. The service was great too - no lengthy waiting for our food. Highly recommend!!

Before writing this review we have made sure we have visited this restaurant several times. Whether it be for a quick lunch, dinner with friends or, a special occasion, The Greyhound have all the ingredients to make one want to go there time and time again. Unfortunately, our trusted haunt for Sunday lunch, where the bar had been set high, closed due to the owners' retirement in the summer of 2017 and, having tried many places only to be disappointed, we were fortunate to have been recommended The Greyhound. The food is excellent, a well varied menu and special diets catered for, the Sunday lunch is excellent quality and, unlike many of the other "restaurants" we have tried since summer 2017, Sunday lunch is served hot, the meat is excellent quality, the cauliflower cheese served separately at £2.50 is exceptional. Food is served with a smile and nothing is too much trouble for the staff, they genuinely appear to value your custom. At last we have found somewhere where the hosts demonstrate enthusiasm and deliver it to their customers in abundance. The toilets are immaculately clean, which again, reflects the excellent overall management and cleanliness at The Greyhound and the time invested. We look forward to summer and being able to sit in the wonderful beer garden where again, a lot of thought and time has been invested.

Came out for a family meal early Doors on New Year's Eve 2017. The food was absolutely amazing and all the staff and management were really accommodating and friendly. Reasonably priced but the food was top quality and not to missed! Many thanks for a lovely evening!

Visited on a Wednesday afternoon with my family. We had been recommended The Greyhound by friends a few months ago and only just gotten round to visiting. We certainly weren’t disappointed. Such a lovely warm reception from the owner. Happy to help and went out of her way to make us feel welcome. My Mam has a dairy, wheat and egg intolerance and she found items on the menu to suit her allergies - they even offered to go it to buy soya milk so she could have a coffee. How wonderful. If you or someone in your family is DF, just call in advance to let them know and they’ll accommodate. Many of their dishes are already GF adaptable. My partner had a beautiful pork and black pudding stack which he throughly enjoyed. I had the lamb shank - mmm... plus some naughty chocolate fudge cake for dessert. And my dad opted for fish and chips. Portion sizes weren’t small to say the least and everything was warm and tasted lovely ! Very reasonably priced too. All in all very impressed.
