Stopped for lunch after a dog walk at noon on a Friday. Dog was welcome with water and treats. Pizzas were very good. As was service. Place filled up quickly

We really enjoyed our visit to the Bluebell! I'd seen a photo of the steak frites online and felt like I had to go and try them! I was not disappointed - we both really enjoyed our mains, and the puddings were incredible too. I'd definitely recommend visiting if you're nearby.

Had a Sunday roast today,at the bluebell and have to say that it was the best Sunday dinner I have ever had.i couldn't fault anything and starter was lovely as well.i have recommended it to friends and will definitely be coming back again.Staff were very obliging and helpful.We wll be seeing you soon.

We had a table booked for my son’s 21st birthday on Saturday 8th feb and we had excellent service and a lovely meal and was enjoyed by myself and my two son’s and my best friend and her daughter and would recommend to anyone for a great meal

"Initially booked large Garden pod for party of 10 for Birthday celebration and sent pre-oder for starters and mains. We then had last minute extra 2 persons to add and gave the extra order on arrival. Staff were very attentive. Escorted to our pod and Ben looked after us extremely well. Food was very hot, plenty of it and delicious. Birthday Boy was presented with a 'Happy Birthday' pre-desert which, was unexpected! The deserts ordered went down a treat 👍 Despite weather being cold and damp we were all very toasty. Staff, food, drink and service Excellent. We'll definitely be dining again in one of the Pods. Thank you to you all."

Great gastro pub on the outskirts of Derby serving delicious food in lovely environment. During the warmer weather there is a fabulous garden to enjoy too.

Good meeting up place, nice atmosphere. Food was good, but took a long time to arrive. Staff could have been more communicative/attentive.

Had to wait over an hour for our food. The waitress came over after 50 minutes and told one of the party that they would have to change their coeliac order. The steak on the steak frites was fatty and chewy. The brussel sprouts were like rocks and impossible to cut. Has the venue had a change of chef? Felt sorry for the waitress who was left in a difficult situation.

Although the restaurant was not busy it took 45 minutes for food to arrive. And only arrived after we enquired to the sullen service staff about its whereabouts The steak was overcooked and very difficult to cut with the blunt knife provided. Very disappointed. Plastic tables.. It was a Marstons meal at a gastro pub price. Very poor. We went for a romantic meal. We won't go again.

Went as a group of 7 on a very busy Tuesday in December. The staff couldn't have been more attentive. The food was excellent; beautiful baked figs followed by turkey roulade. We've been a few times and will certainly continue to go back!

First visit to The Bluebell and was very impressed. The pub was beautifully decorated. Good menu selection, prices very reasonable, food excellent. But most important of all what made our dining experience was our server Zak. He was very attentive and polite and excellent at his job.

Nice location, lovely pub, food and service. Just the background music kept suddenly jumping up in volume where you couldn't hear your conversations. It happened about 3 times.

Myself and my partner visited the Bluebell yesterday for afternoon lunch. We arrived into a nice atmosphere in the garden room, everything looked aesthetically pleasing, and the menu looked great. Unfortunately the cooking did not match this. We ordered Duck pancakes & prawn cocktail for starters. The Duck pancakes were all stuck together, so we requested new ones which came out & were cold and bland. The sauce tasted very synthetic, and the spring onions had the Brown crispy outer skin left on. The Prawn cocktail was served with a Salmon mousse, there wasn’t any cocktail sauce at-all, big chunky unseasoned quarter Tomatoes chucked on the plate with the Lettuce, Toast over cooked & no butter to accompany the Toast. The dish in general was just thrown together, no care and attention in the presentation & the taste was non existent. By this point we were very unhappy, but we decided to be optimistic about the main courses, how wrong we were. I ordered Duck breast, with potatoes, Green vegetables & Red jus sauce. I can honestly say, I have never had such a badly cooked Duck breast. It was an unappealing Grey colour all the way through, the fat was not rendered down and had no crisp or colour to it. The meat tasted so dry & an almost pasty/chalky taste/texture to it. Any good Chef would know always serve Duck breast Pink and tender unless given orders from the customer not to do so. My partner had Turkey pie, with mash Potatoes & Vegetables. Same again, poor presentation, all chucked together like something you’d see at a Toby Carvery self service. Not what we were after at-all. As you can imagine we decided to leave after a few mouthfuls of the main courses. We will not be returning, unless big improvements are made. We decided to head up the road to our old faithful (The Horseshoes on Long Lane) We got a great meal in the end. Many thanks Callum

Unfortunately the evenjng I went to the Bluebell was snowing and very cold. The restaurant was in an atrium with no heatjng. The service lacked finesse the food and cutlery was almost thrown onto the table. Very disappointing.

Unfortunately a disaster. I used to love bluebell until this experience. Went there as a group of 6 for a dinner. Two of us ordered grilled chicken which was completely brittle and tasteless and my steak was served as in the photo. Mentioned about the situation and been offered 2 free desserts which was not the case as we already paid £200+. It was a special occasion for our parents but from now on will avoid 👎🏻

Went for a family meal on a weekday afternoon. A little bit of a wait for the food after ordering but it was worth it. I had the vegan garlic mushroom and spinach pasta and it was delicious. (The dish was meant to have pine nuts but didn't though unfortunately.) Everyone else enjoyed their food, one in particular said 'best meal I've had in a long time'. Had the vegan chocolate brownie for pudding - I would say it seemed a little overpriced for the size but it was lovely. The waiter was friendly and efficient and drinks options were very good. Will definitely be returning for another meal.

Only stopped for a drink around lunchtime yesterday as we were passing through the arwa, but just wanted to add a review as the chap behind the bar was such a friendly awesome guy. Really made the place have a great atmosphere. We would have eaten but unfortunately didn't have time, have to say the food looked grea though.

I’ve driven past here many times and still meaning to go we finally went yesterday and the food did not disappoint. The flavours and taste was very nice. Was really impressed with starters and mains. Children menu was also very nice soup was a little on the peppery side for kids but was nice. The espresso martini was nice and the outdoor seating which we didn’t get to use was quite unique and a nice touch will try it out next time. Will definitely be visiting again as it’s so close and location was great.

Great food, fairly expensive but very good overall

We came here for the first time for my mum’s 60th birthday after searching the area for somewhere with good veggie options. We were not dissapointed! Lots of veggie options for my mum to choose from and for me, a delicious and tender beef bourguignon which came recommended from the waiter. Lovely staff, lovely atmosphere and great, quality food. We will be back!

A very pleasant evening meal with my family. Great service and food in a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. I would definitely recommend a visit ! SADLY OUR SECOND VISIT ON THE OCCASION OF OUR SONS BIRTHDAY WAS NOT SO GOOD. TWO MINUTES AFTER DECIDING THAT WE DIDN'T REQUIRE A DESERT WE WERE ASKED TO VACATE OUR TABLE. THIS WAS AT 17:25 AND WE HAD PRE-BOOKED THE TABLE UNTIL AT LEAST 18:00. OTHER TABLES AROUND US WERE EMPTY. ON LEAVING I QUERIED THIS WITH THE MANAGERESS WHO SAID THAT THINGS GET CHANGED AROUND BUT IN FACT WE COULD HAVE HAD THE TABLE UNTIL 18:30. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE OBVIOUS MISMANAGEMENT OF OUR VISIT AND ON A SPECIAL OCCASION TOO !

Amazing family visit. Staff are welcoming and accommodating, large well laid out parking area. Interior is welcoming and spacious. We arrived between 3-5pm when only Pizza is available. We decided to hold out until after 5 and booked a Pod in the beer garden. They are ideal for groups (they have various sizes up to 14 persons) they're heated and with a service call button. Service was incredible, food good, Ales were limited but well kept and presented. The pods are ideal so the young children in the group didn't disturb anyone else and could have their space. We will definitely be back.

We once again had a wonderful visit to the Bluebell Inn. We always book a garden room as one of our family is immunocompromised, and we feel much safer. We were very well looked after by the serving staff and the food was excellent as always. Looking forward to our next visit.

Just beautiful! Absolutely loved it! The food, the ambience and the service. A great place for a catch up, going for a meal or just enjoying a drink. The venue has a few different rooms creating a different vibe in each one. We were placed in the orangery. Great in the summer but can get quite cool in the autumn/winter months. We were enjoying a meal for a staff member leaving. I specifically asked for an area near the pizza oven but unfortunately this was not granted. However the meal was lovely. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and had a great evening. I’ve been here twice and both times it’s been a great experience. Thank you. 💫

First time and definitely will be back. Visited with my husband and had 3 courses each and loved each course (belly pork and the beef stroganoff were cooked to perfection) Food was amazing and a great menu to pick from. Lovely waitress serviced us and nothing was too much trouble. Cant wait to visit again.

This public house is simply excellent. All staff and I mean ALL STAFF have a smile and make you welcome every time we visit. The beer and lager are very well kept and a very good price The food is excellent especially the pizzas. Best pub within 20 miles of my house. Highly recommend a visit and very doggie friendly.

Visited twice while on a holiday break nearby. Both occasions we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Good food from a varied menu, proper pizzas made on the premises, or good wholesome pub meals, definitely recommend the pie. Friendly staff, good service and good value for money

A beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere. We were served by waitress Lizzie who was amazing. She was super calm and in control and could not have been more friendly and helpful. Drinks were good and served promptly. The food was however a bit disappointing. We had chicken skewers which were tasty with a good salad and sauce but the tomato and chilli pasta dish needs to be removed from the menu - extremely expensive for overcooked pasta and sauce that tastes as if it's from a jar. Pasta drowning in sauce makes it impossible to eat too. This place is pricey but nice for a special occasion or nice date night. I would recommend meat dishes or pizzas as that seems to be their best offering. Thank you to Lizzie for helping us have a great evening regardless.

Had a visit to the Bluebell on Friday early evening for food. Nice place with friendly staff. Two of us had minted lamb pie and veg, one had tomato & chilli pasta. Pasta was tasty and a good portion. Pies were less than average, with tough lamb inside. Mentioned our disappointment to waiting staff when asked, and was thanked for my honesty. Probably wouldn't return.

We were delayed in traffic and were late for our reservation. When I rang to explain the young man I spoke to could not have been more helpful arranging a different table so we did not have to rush our Sunday lunch. This was a good omen for a wonderful meal with friendly efficient service.

Been previously, this was our fourth visit, first time in one of the garden pods, to celebrate three family birthdays, was perfect for our large family 😊

We’ve been to this pub a number of times & have been so impressed but today it was really disappointing. I ordered a veggie meal & not only was my gravy beef, but half way through my meal I found metal, packaging, fish & bones in my dinner. There weren’t many staff around to mention it to which was also disappointing as I wouldn’t necessarily or normally complain, I just wanted to highlight to them as it completely put me off my dinner & for someone more strict, this could be more detrimental. It’s not a nice experience finding things you don’t like or could be dangerous eating

Had one of the best meals/experiences here last weekend. The best southern fried chicken burger I've ever had hands down! The servers were really attentive and made us feel well looked after. Will definitely be coming back here in future!

Great Sunday lunch. Quick service and polite staff. We picked the Orangery and it was nice and clean but more Conservatory in appearance. That said I would recommend it, a very pleasant visit.

Usually book a garden pod for special events. Food excellent although a little expensive. Service friendly. Outside area pleasant to sit near garden. Inside restaurant has beautiful blue/gold decor. Bar area indoors great for drinks/pizza. An excellent makeover for the once small Kirk Langley village pub.

Great visit, sat in a garden pod and had pizzas. Service is slower outside but there are call buttons in the pod to alert staff. Food was amazing- expensive but worth it!! Extra effort made with the dessert as it was the evening before my wedding

Lunch We normally go to one of their other pubs nearby but that was taken over by a big concern. Since they took over the pub it has had extensive renovations including a beautiful outside beer garden and a lovely Orangery dining room. The menu has a diverse range of casual pub favourites with seasonal menu updates. For starters we chose King Prawn Cocktail - £10 Smoked Salmon Mousse, Toasted Sourdough. Not the usual way of serving as it was all served on a plate. BBQ Cajun Pork Belly Bites £9 Pineapple & Chilli Salsa. What made this dish was the delious sauce on the pork belly. Both dishes were topped with the dreaded pea shoots. Which adds nothing to the taste and is just decoration. Main courses were Steak Frites - £17 6oz Top Rump with Fries & Peppercorn Sauce. A pub classic which was very nice. Oh and topped off with pea shoots🤣 Can't remember ordering salad? Baked Salmon Fillet - £20.90 On a bed of creamy spinach & Smoked Salmon Spaghetti, Fresh dill. Oh,you guessed it pea shoots. The salmon was cooked perfect and the sauce with the pasta was delicious. The food was pleasant enough but nothing to write home about and yet here we are.🤣 With such a large menu for the kitchen to cater for it has been said by others,can be a bit hit and miss on occasion. But our visit on a quiet lunchtime was pretty good. The pub is a lovely place to visit if you fancy a drink and maybe something to eat. They do fresh pizzas to order in a proper pizza oven. You can even dine in their outside garden rooms when the weather is fine. The staff were friendly and very accomodating.

We had a beautiful mothers day meal today. A warm welcome, perfect service, attentive and thoughtful. Fantastic food, the best quality and perfectly cooked, from the slow-cooked beef that just melted in the mouth to the freshest veg. Ample portions, fair prices and pretty surroundings, but it's the impeccable service that means I'll definitely book again.

Mothers day had meat pie with Stilton, it looked like a chip shop pie couldn't taste Stilton waste of money

Group of 8 adults enjoyed a great meal at The Bluebell Inn whilst staying at a local barn conversion holiday let. It was lovely in the Orangery but would ideally book the garden rooms next time. Some of our group and the beef or Lamb dinners and others had pizza or fish. All food was presented beautifully and very tasty - would definitely book again 🤗

The garden room was perfect for our family celebration. The food was excellent as was the service. The room was warm but for those sitting near the door it was a little draughty when the food was delivered. However, that didn't detract from a really enjoyable time. Lovely touch was a plate delivered with two pieces of cake, ice cream and strawberries and Happy Anniversary piped in chocolate. Thank you for making our celebration special.

This hotel is nice enough but a one hour wait for a beef stew for lunch is totally unacceptable. Guest should be warned of such a wait.

As a regular customer, we knew beforehand that the food would be great, which it was, but the service was unfortunately abysmal. The waitress/front of house who served us on the day was pushy when taking orders, rude throughout the afternoon and abrupt when asking us to vacate the table ‘within 2 minutes’ as she had other people waiting. Bearing in mind the food took almost an hour to arrive and we had several rounds of drinks and desserts we found this attitude disgusting and won’t be going again. I did email the Bluebell after the visit to give them a chance to respond but they didn’t bother, hence this review.

Our friends booked a pod for the four of us. It was 2 degrees- so apprehensive. But need not have worried. Pod was warm. Good food and drink and service was great. All the staff seemed happy and smiled. Great evening was had by the 4 of us

Alex met us with a warm welcome. Speedily served us drinks mine an excellent decaf oatmilk cappuccino. He was extremely diligent about my dietary issues and double checked everything I was considering with the chef.Nothing was too much trouble.The service was attentive professional and friendly. The food was very good and arrived quite quickly. We were early!! The surroundings in the orangery are light airy and attractive and comfortable. How lucky we are to have a place like this nearby that still opens on Mondays and Tuesdays!

First time here. Found the staff friendly and helpful, the food was excellent. Whilst I didn't have my dog with me it was lovely to see how dog friendly it was.

This is a hidden Gem of a country pub and restaurant, every dish we have ordered has been wonderful, good beer great food great service. You may need to book at weekends and peak season it's that good. Go on treat yourself and visit soon! It's even got its own huge Pizza oven!
