We had a beautiful mothers day meal today. A warm welcome, perfect service, attentive and thoughtful. Fantastic food, the best quality and perfectly cooked, from the slow-cooked beef that just melted in the mouth to the freshest veg. Ample portions, fair prices and pretty surroundings, but it's the impeccable service that means I'll definitely book again.

Really lovely food and a great atmosphere. The staff were attentive and friendly. We were there for my father in law's 85th birthday and had a lovely time. Will definitely come back and highly recommend the pizza!

Group of 8 adults enjoyed a great meal at The Bluebell Inn whilst staying at a local barn conversion holiday let. It was lovely in the Orangery but would ideally book the garden rooms next time. Some of our group and the beef or Lamb dinners and others had pizza or fish. All food was presented beautifully and very tasty - would definitely book again 🤗

The garden room was perfect for our family celebration. The food was excellent as was the service. The room was warm but for those sitting near the door it was a little draughty when the food was delivered. However, that didn't detract from a really enjoyable time. Lovely touch was a plate delivered with two pieces of cake, ice cream and strawberries and Happy Anniversary piped in chocolate. Thank you for making our celebration special.

This hotel is nice enough but a one hour wait for a beef stew for lunch is totally unacceptable. Guest should be warned of such a wait.

As a regular customer, we knew beforehand that the food would be great, which it was, but the service was unfortunately abysmal. The waitress/front of house who served us on the day was pushy when taking orders, rude throughout the afternoon and abrupt when asking us to vacate the table ‘within 2 minutes’ as she had other people waiting. Bearing in mind the food took almost an hour to arrive and we had several rounds of drinks and desserts we found this attitude disgusting and won’t be going again. I did email the Bluebell after the visit to give them a chance to respond but they didn’t bother, hence this review.

Our friends booked a pod for the four of us. It was 2 degrees- so apprehensive. But need not have worried. Pod was warm. Good food and drink and service was great. All the staff seemed happy and smiled. Great evening was had by the 4 of us

First visit for two of us after saying we would try a good few times! Went early evening on a Saturday. Excellent, varied menu which suited all tastes. Seated in nice area, food was absolutely fabulous as was the service! Drinks very nice too! Excellent all round, could not fault anything! Will be back!

Excellent food and service. The best pie and chips! This has become our go-to place in the area. Outdoor pod was heated and comfortable despite winter weather.

Alex met us with a warm welcome. Speedily served us drinks mine an excellent decaf oatmilk cappuccino. He was extremely diligent about my dietary issues and double checked everything I was considering with the chef.Nothing was too much trouble.The service was attentive professional and friendly. The food was very good and arrived quite quickly. We were early!! The surroundings in the orangery are light airy and attractive and comfortable. How lucky we are to have a place like this nearby that still opens on Mondays and Tuesdays!

First time here. Found the staff friendly and helpful, the food was excellent. Whilst I didn't have my dog with me it was lovely to see how dog friendly it was.

This is a hidden Gem of a country pub and restaurant, every dish we have ordered has been wonderful, good beer great food great service. You may need to book at weekends and peak season it's that good. Go on treat yourself and visit soon! It's even got its own huge Pizza oven!

Food was beautiful, well worth the money. The service was slow but we did go at 6pm on a Sunday so they may have been recovering from a busy day, however, our server was great other than that, so friendly and I mentioned to him that it was my partners birthday which he remembered and made and effort to give us a birthday desert which was nice. Really nice on the inside as well and we were impressed, however, probably not the best place to be on a Sunday if you don’t like kids and lots of noise! We will definitely be back in the future, just on a different day!

Dropped in as we originally entered another establishment and found their hygiene rating was 1, the Bluebell accepted us and our dog, we had mushrooms and veg soup to start followed by fish and chips and turkey roulade. The service was superb by a young lady who is currently a student at Liverpool uni, our home town. She was so polite and friendly and the food was piping hot and gorgeous. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely pay the Bluebell Inn again

We dropped in after visiting another nearby eatery but found their hygiene rating score of 1 put us off. The Bluebell inn accommodated two adults and our dog. We had starters of mushrooms and veg soup then main of turkey roulade and fish and chips, they even cooked a sausage for our dog. The young lady serving us was polite and friendly and we found out was studying at Liverpool uni, our home town. The food was plentiful and piping hot. Will definitely visit again if we are in the area.

Popped in on a very quiet Thursday around 12pm. Asked if there was a table for 2. Front entrance and restaurant were completely empty and was almost silent. We asked a lady if there was chance of a table. She went to look at her laptop and then a man (probably a manager) greeted us and then went to look with her. She came back and said there’s “absolutely no tables available” we couldn’t believe it as it was literally empty and we were only two! Then the man joined in “there’s no way we can fit you in, we don’t have the capacity”. We asked if we could sit in the bar, “not today, there’s no room”. Very rude and dismissive two members of staff. As we left, we then overheard the manager say “we have no tables left and absolutely no room for festivities today”. He peered at the door and realised we were still stood there. Very awkward. As someone who used to work for this company, I couldn’t believe the poor service and lack of curtesy.

Just had a brief visit for coffee and beer, but the Bluebell looks fantastic, had a walk to see the outdoor space & restaurant, can't wait to go back very soon.

Last minute decision and very impressed. Called after an appointment at Derby Royal. Very attentive staff, a warm welcome and what appeared to be just one waitress resulted in an enjoyable lunch. Food was excellent and service too. My son had a pizza, which was larger than expected and he said it was good. Myself the duck pancakes, which is actually a starter but if you aren’t hungry was the perfect size as a main. Only thing that would have improved it was more cucumber & spring onion. No complaints to the amount of duck. Plus a teaspoon to serve hoisin sauce would be good. I used my knife but noticed other diners pouring from the receptacle and got in a bit of a mess. No pressure to leave or order sweets etc, which was nice to experience. We enjoyed very much and hope to return again.

Would of preferred the fish a bit more cooked and with the salmon the opposite Tucked in and it was ok. Nothing special. You can tell the food is fresh. Had a few undercooked chips. Tbh I should’ve gone for the masala salmon as well Looked better than mine When your paying £20 for fish and chips I think I was just expecting a-bit more attention to detail Service was good tho and place was clean. Loved the tables. Seemed like marble and weren’t sticky. I hate sticky tables.

This is a long, detailed but honest review. The young people looking after us were great, very good and very apologetic when issues arose. Made the best of what they'd got, a credit to you. Lovely place, returned in a part of group of 6 after a successful visit some time ago. We booked a pod on a Friday evening for 8, having been advised to wear warm clothing as it was a particularly cold evening, this we did, layering up & keeping our coats on! Pathways were ice but unsalted/gritted. Pods are lovely, overhead heater, comfortable seating & table but although trousers & boots on was cold & draughty on legs/feet, would bring a blanket next time! Initial Drinks 40 min wait, ran out of wine glasses too, supplied when finished with by others, meal came very late too after lots of confusion as to what was unavailable. Pie not available, smear of tartare for fish as ran out, food was good although a bit cold, maybe a cover from kitchen to pod would be best. Normally we would have had dessert and coffee but it became too late so we didn't bother this time. We did still have a lovely night, being in great company, catching up as a group.1st Friday night on December at 8 is a very popular time, when we arrived, the car park was very busy, which we took as a great sign of popularity, but this time we were a little disappointed, expecting the Bluebell to come up trumps. There appeared to be enough staff etc so unsure what the problem was. Would love to try again with better luck next time with our experience as good food & lovely surroundings.

Was pleasantly surprised how busy this place was on a Monday evening. Nonetheless, this place had been on the list for a while and didn’t disappoint. We both had the charcuterie board to start, followed by the beef pie; the wife had the braised beef. Both cooked perfectly and served promptly. Didn’t visit the bar area but after walking past it, I’m a fan of the blend of keeping the old pub decor as a separate section, along with a modern and chic new dining area. Couldn’t fault the service. Menu left me desiring a visit in the future.

The food here is superb. Cooked to perfection. Good strong flavours and decent portions. Yorkshire puds were crispy and soft in all the right places. The meat was tender and tasty. We had one slow cooked beef Sunday lunch, and one slow cooked pork Sunday lunch, with a side of cauliflower cheese. For dessert we had Creme Brulee. Just the one between us because the portions for the main were that good. It's a very attractive modern venue with a indoor and outdoor eating. A cosy traditional area and a conservatory which was full of natural light. The furnishings were smart and tasteful. Lively atmosphere. Was obviously a place to be. Popular. This venue really deserves full marks as a pub venue but for two small details. The plates on the marble tables, in the conservatory, kept slipping about. A little but funny to start but I wasn't certain my dinner wouldn't go flying. The other detail was the staff. They worked hard and were attentive but I barely saw a smile. Maybe it was a hard day.

Just to confirm a year after my last review the food and service here is still impeccable. Had the lunch menu and the pork belly was perfect - the lamb shawarma is lovely but my new fave is the vietnamese beef and noodles. Everything here...

Unfortunately the filet steak £33, was as tough as old boots, stringy and not cooked properly. I couldn’t even cut through it properly with a steak knife. I visited a few months ago and the same happened. So my advise is, do not order steak.

Food very nice far to much for me but that's just me service good nice pub 4 meet up.

Spent the evening in an outside pod, actually a thatched pogola that could seat 8 maybe a couple more. Nice warm heater for the evening chill and a relatively quick bell service. The staff were polite and chatty and helpful in choosing food, for sizes of dishes mainly. I gave them 4 stars for food, but that was because they are a pub, not a cordon bleu or Michelin star restaurant, that aside the food was cooked well, very tasty and well presented for good pub food with a decent range of choices on the menu. We as a group have been to this pub before and based on that booked this time, and based on this experience with go again in the future. For a relaxed, comfortable, good meal out with friends or family, it's a good choice.

Wonderful experience. We booked an outdoor cabin in the garden, which was ideal with a little one. The food was wonderful, great menu, quality & value. Staff were friendly & helpful. Service was hindered by strong winds, which was the downside of a garden cabin. Otherwise a wonderful Sunday dinner experience.

We visited with family visiting from Australia. Wonderful experience with great food and drink. We chose one of the garden pods and though it was raining the staff remained attentive and we didn't have to wait for anything.

Really fantastic food. Went for Sunday lunch. Meal service was a tad slow due to the numbers of people, but the staff were super accommodating and food was well worth the wait. Honestly one of the best Sunday roasts I’ve had in years. Maybe it was the gravy, or the beef, or the veg. Really really good and thoroughly recommend.

I’ve been to the blue bell a few times, though today was unacceptably bad. The food is always pretty good, not phenomenal, but never too disappointing, hence why we revisit. The service is always a bit lapse but today seemed all over the place. Had to wait over an hour for our food, and whilst I could see they were busy, and wouldn’t have minded, we were never told at any point there would be a long wait. The staff were disinterested, and also completely missed our second drink order, but still tried to charge us for it. Unfortunately after todays experience it would be hard to recommend the blue bell and I doubt we’ll be back again.

Great food, especially the stone baked pizzas. Outdoor pods are great in summer for larger groups and mean you can have conversations within your party much easier. Had to chase a few drinks orders but it was busy when we were there.

Popped back for a birthday tea. The bluebell generously offer a £10 discount on your birthday just because you signed in to the WiFi. Not that we needed such an incentive to return. Food etc brilliant. Will be back.
