Went to this venue for a bikers weekend festival. The Staff could not be more helpful. Spotlessly clean and fantastic venue. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. My only suggestion, would be a golf buggy shuttle to the bus stop at the end of the drive, but that's cos I'm idle lol.

Together with a large number of bikers we camped for a long weekend. However, the camp site was like a bog, mud everywhere. Generally the service was good except bar staff picking up full glasses at the rim of the glass, obviously either the landlord/landlady doesn't know the basic rules, or doesn't care??? To lighten you, you and your staff hold the bottom of the glass and the customer has the top. Having said this, we all enjoyed the place.

Two of us went for afternoon tea recently and it was lovely! A variety of tastysandwiches, sausage rolls with a bowl of salad and one of crisps, and then assorted cakes and scones with jam and cream. All served on a pretty mix of china crockery. The service was friendly and efficient, nothing seemed too much trouble. Plenty of tea in lovely teapots, I think the refills could have been endless! Personally, I prefer a pot of hot water too as tea soon becomes strong but I'm sure, if I'd asked, this would not have been a problem. Lumb Farm is in a great position with smashing views and plenty of car parking. I'd certainly recommend the afternoon tea at Lumb Farm, it's great value and the staff are brilliant. Also, we felt very safe, having our temperatures taken on arrival, plenty of hand sanitisers around and staff wearing masks and following social distancing measures.

Had a lovely meal here tonight. Had sausage, mash in a large Yorkshire with veg. It was delicious. The mash was the best I’ve ever tasted and extra gravy was brought out. The sausages were also really nice and not the cheap style some places serve. For pudding I had a warm choc fudge cake with ice cream, again beautiful. I saw other people’s meals being brought out and they all looked good! The staff have gone to gold standard levels regarding Covid. When places first started opening I expected restaurants to constantly sanitise, change their aprons and I haven’t seen it until tonight. It was very clean/ hygienic and they checked my temp before we went in, which I was impressed with. I felt very reassured that with their understanding of food hygiene and their professional approach that the food prepared would have been done so in immaculate conditions. The staff were so lovely and were working really hard as they were implementing all the hygiene and cross contamination protocols. Really enjoyed it, thank you. We will be back!

called in for evening meal on tuesday, the restaraunt was quite busy, the food and service were excellent, however.. only 1 member of staff covering the whole of the front of house, serving food, pouring drinks, seating people, and getting them booked in, taking orders, clearing and cleaning tables and trying to sort guests bills at the same time. the poor woman was totally rushed off her feet to the point she was sweating buckets( and who wouldnt be,) how she managed to get all diners accomodated and all orders served correctly, politely, professionaly and on time, while still taking time to ask all guests if everything was ok and /or needed is a credit to the owners, poor management on behalf of staffing ??and i have never seen bar staff have to leave a bar to serve meals anywhere i have previously dined and not a good idea cross contamination wise especially in todays climate, although the covid measures were spot on, temp and details taken upon entry, masks worn when serving ,clearing food and the staff member constantly sanitised her hands. The dinning area is very clean and friendly and excellent quality food. bar area a little grubby and outdated, but service was a marvel from the lone member of staff. well done she!!. i will return in the future if not to see if the poor woman is still alive.

First time visiting here, after reading reviews it sounded promising for a nice evening dinner, the location is also lovely and was very hopeful! however although the staff were lovely and quite attentive the food and atmosphere did let it down. The music is so loud whilst your eating it’s almost annoying and you can’t hear properly to have a conversation it wasn’t particularly cheerful music either. We had scampi which it said so on the menu which was meant to come with chips garden peas and tarter sauce, what actually came out was battered prawns in some kinda of weird spicy coating with mushy peas and no tarter sauce, the only positive was the nice chips! We had to ask for the sauce which just came in a sachet and wasn’t particularly enjoyable. My mum had lamb shank which she enjoyed and the meat was succulent but was crammed in a small bowl with mash and a small separate bowl of veg which was very overcooked would have been better on a plate with more room! We went whilst it was 50% off which was a bonus because we definitely wouldn’t have paid the full price. I hate to be negative but did expect more and better quality.

Our first visit to Lumb Farm and we weren’t disappointed :) Starters and desserts were nice (soup and chicken goujons) but the mains were by far the best. I had the roast beef with seasonal veg - the beef was so tender! And it came with the tastiest mash potatoes I’ve ever had in a restaurant :) My partner had the veggie Wellington again with seasonal veg. It was nice to see the veggie came with its own pot of veggie gravy. We were happy to find the veggie menu at Lumb Farm has 7/8 options which is by far one of the best we have seen in the local pubs/restaurants. We normally struggle finding a good veggie offering but Lumb Farm have great options! Even a few vegan ones too :) I will definitely be back for a roast dinner!

Lumb Farm was a very handy place for us to stay overnight on a holiday trip to Yorkshire. The room (No 4) was fine apart from one thing, which was the smell from the drain in the bathroom/wet room. Several guests have mentioned this in the past, and so it really needs sorting. The breakfast was good, and the staff very friendly and helpful. All in all, it was a pleasant over-nighter at reasonable cost. I would be happy to stay here again - especially if/when the drain in Room 4 is cleaned out!.

I checked the website with my son on 2 Feb 2018, and looked at the restaurant menu. We saw various options which we liked the look of, and phoned up to see if we needed to book. Third attempt, somebody answered, and I was told we need not book. Arrived about 6.45pm or 7.00pm. Place was totally empty. Eventually a staff member appeared, served a very poor pint of beer and a soft drink and gave us the menu. It was an even more basic menu than the website version. There was no specials board, as advertised. None of the options we wanted on the website were on the menu. It was cold inside, the staff member (I think she was the bar maid/receptionist/cook) had disappeared. It felt like the Marie Celeste. We left and dined elsewhere.

A great little B&B; it is advertised as a country club, which is probably overly ambitious, but that's the closest I came to a negative. I picked it rather than the chain hotel because it offered a proper breakfast and was only about £15 more expensive. Arrived mid afternoon and staff where really friendly. Lots of parking is always a plus. Rooms are decently sized and clean. Wasn't a massive issue for me, as the bar was practically empty on the night I stayed, but the rooms are near to the main bar area. If there's a reception on or busy night in the bar, you'll know it because any noise in the car park seems to go right through the rooms. The food in the restaurant/ bar is good and reasonably priced. Staff again happy to go out of their way for customers. I had an early meeting and staff agreed for me to have breakfast early (07:15, rather than 07:30 which is normally the earliest they do). Breakfast in the morning was decent, so all in all very positive. I'd stay there again if back in the area.

Wished I had another visit to look forward to.

Just been to lumb farm for Sunday lunch had a great lunch the staff were friendly and professional and helpful as always. They where really busy with a full restaurant and a large party in function room. We were looked after from start to finish. Over the last years we've been there several time and always had a great meal and such a warm welcome both from staff and owner . Really shocked at the really bad negative review must have gone to lumb farm in a parallel world ! Would like to thank all the staff for a lovely meal out. Patrick Joanne and family.

We have just spent a night here for a wedding reception, on arrival we were greeted at the reception & swiftly booked in & taken to our room. The staff are very efficient & friendly. The room was very spacious with a comfortable bed & plenty of storage space & also a good quality flat screen television. The bathroom had a good shower & nice clean fresh fluffy towels & shower mat towels. Hairdryer provided & also tea & coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast we chose the full English breakfast which included fruit juice, tea coffee, cereals & toast. Excellent service, breakfast was cooked to perfection & we really enjoyed it. We found Lumb Farm Country Club to be very clean & well presented, our room was excellent as were all the facilities & we would highly recommend this place. Will we return for another visit, yes definitely in the not too distant future. Thank you for a lovely visit, Bev & Theresa, Nottinghamshire.

I hate to criticise this place as it really is a great place to stay and the staff are lovely but the food wasn't good on this occasion. The starter was a shared platter for 2 between 4 of us. Very plentiful and even the 4 of us couldn't eat it all but that was because it was all fried. Fried chicken, fried mushrooms, fried onion rings, wedges plus breads in bread sticks and cheese garlic bread. The steak deal is good - two for $25 but all our steaks were tough and again it included a bed of fried onion rings and mushrooms with chips. They were also catering for a 21st on the day and warned us we may have a wait as there was only one chef on but that wasn't a problem. We didn't wait too long and the staff kept us entertained. In short brilliant staff but shame about the food. Maybe next time will be different?

I live local to lumb farm and hadn't been for years, to be honest I didn't even know it did food... After a couple of recommendations we tried it for Sunday lunch and wow !!Don't be out of by £15 X 3 courses, we just had a main course and it was £7.95 an absolute bargain, lots of meat, to many vegetables - it was gorgeousWe sat in the bistro which is way nicer than the restaurant, it's not the best venue as it is dark inside, but the staff and food make up for this !!Great service and good prices ..Lovely setting with donkeys and car park has been resurfaced so much better than it wasHave some cute bedrooms , more bb style than a hotelHighly recommended - get some local advertising done and a decent website , and market 1 course Sunday lunch rather than the full 3 courses and more locals will come

Having recently moved into the area we decided to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday at Lumb Farm and were by no means disappointed! Firstly, booking. This was easy and pressure free. Our entourage of 2 x 2 year olds needing high chairs, a child of 9, 2 x foody-fuss pots, an aunt who can only eat child's portions, an elderly gentleman with health issues and his wife, with similar issues were no difficulty to the team at this restaurant. The Dog at Pentrich was our alternative option and their anti-child attitude rang alarm bells immediately. They won't be getting our custom in a hurry. Anyway, back to Lumb Farm. We took our own cake, no problem to them; we were greeted by a lovely team of staff who were skilled and attentive all evening. A set menu at £15 was varied and fantastic value. The quality of cooking is very high and the portions incredible! The choice of vegetables overwhelming (in a good way).. It was a shame to have to leave any of it! A brilliant evening all round for us and a recommendation from us as high as we can credit. We shall be returning without a doubt.

We stayed for 2 nights while my Mother was in hospital in Derby. We needed a quiet, calming location with good access to the main route into Derby. Lumb Farm was ideal. The room had a level access shower with disability features and what appeared to be new carpets and furniture. The room was spacious and the bed and armchair comfortable.Nothing was too much trouble and we had lovely fresh fruit salad followed by a rather large full English breakfast on our first morning. The following day we requested a smaller breakfast and some yogurt to accompany the fruit. This is preordered the evening before and works well as both breakfasts were lovely. We had one evening meal and can vouch that the home made steak and ale pie was delicious. We were made very comfortable and welcome, the staff all very attentive and the rest of the guests so quiet many left before we awoke.

Lovely hot food, very friendly staff, lovely spacious rooms.Only two things about rooms - pull curtains over blinds so light does not come in early, and with the bathroom door, a little door stop would be brilliant as every time the bathroom door opens it swings back and bangs on the wall or the person sitting at the dressing table, apart from this we had a lovely stay.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Clean, fresh spacious room. The large wetroom was lovely and the shower was great.Just a couple of thing realy let the place down. The door to the bathroom/wetroom would not close properly and the window in the door let in so much light in the morning we barely slept past 6 am, so take an eyemask with you! The duvet cover had weird ruffly things on which was quite uncomfortable to sleep on! The reception/bar seemed to be quite disorganised. The breakfast was very nice, with a good selection to choose from.Staff very very helpful and pleasant, but with a bit more organisation and a coule of tweaks to the accommodation it could have a fab stay.

Not much to say apart from only come here if you want a lot (and I mean A LOT) of food for your money. The Sunday set menu is average with every sort of potato served and over cooked vegetables. Yes the cauliflower cheese was nice.Personally I think the amount of food served is a disgrace and the management need to realise that every dish of food sent back is their money being through in the bin. When we told the waiting staff there was too much food said they get that all the time and laughed. Also, am not a fan on being sat on the same tables for Sunday lunch that the wedding party the night before had been (with paper table clothes and tiny napkins). So in summary, poor service (caused by terrible management and lack of understanding of basic food service), average food and poor surroundings. Badly needs new management and an overhaul.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Our visit for Sunday lunch was certainly an experience, unfortunately for all the wrong reasons. The calamity of errors started when we ordered drinks at the bar. The girl serving tried to fit a small bottle of rose wine into an even smaller glass. Needless to say the glass could not even be picked up, something that did not occur to the bar staff who offered no solution. We took it upon ourselves to go to our table, collect another wine glass and pour some of the overflowing wine into it.We made our way to our table. Five/ten minutes later, none of the staff had been over so we had to go and ask for the menus. We ordered very soon after and then waited in excess of thirty minutes for our starters to arrive. The garlic mushrooms had clearly been deep fried from frozen and the rustic bread roll served with the soup was far from rustic! We were barely able to take a breathe before our mains were served. To say we had enough food to feed a small village in Africa would be an understatement. Plates came piled high, followed by six huge bowls of vegetables, potatoes four ways and cauliflower cheese. I asked for the chicken pie with potatoes instead of chips. I got chicken pie with chips and enough roast potatoes for four people. The frozen peas arrived.....frozen! The potatoes looked like they had been served to at least two tables before us. The roast lamb and beef were nice but the amount of food on the table was so overwhelming (we even had to use a nearby windowsill to house some of the dishes).Once we'd all finished (barely scratching the surface of the food served), we waited half an hour for any of the staff to come to our table. Having been sat at the table for almost two hours at this point, none of us were in the mood for having pudding or tea and coffee (mainly because we wanted to get home before it was dark!)We asked for the bill and were appalled that only 50p per person would be taken off the £15 set menu if we didn't have the pudding. In the end, we took our puddings home in polystyrene boxes. The main problem with this restaurant is that there was clearly no one in charge or anyone who cared enough to take control. The young staff were doing what they thought they should be doing and nothing more. Tables around us were left uncleared and customers were left to their own devices for far too long. We gave feedback to the 'manager' on the portion sizes as we were leaving but she seemed to be very blinkered and it was clear that nothing would change. Her response of "we don't want anyone to go hungry" confirmed this. I would challenge anyone to leave Lumb Farm feeling hungry! It would be so much better and more profitable(!) to half the vegetable and potato serving sizes and serve more on request.Yes, it was busy. But it could be twice as busy if someone took control and improved the customer experience. Overall, a disappointing lunch and we will not be visiting again.

Joined a birthday celebration and were given the private dining area overlooking the fields which was lovely. Most of us ordered the sunday roast which was absolutely gorgeous. Lots of vegetables with very generous portions and delicious cauliflower cheese. A nice selection of tasty puddings too and can recommend the apple pie. If you are looking for a venue for a group of people it is perfect and very well priced for the high quality of food.

Where to start ??I really can't believe the amount of food we were presented with - unfortunately we are small eaters so were somewhat startled by the number and variety of accompaniments which arrived with our equally surprisingly large main choices. The peppered beef and minted lamb were absolutely perfectly cooked and delicious. I do hope the kitchen staff weren't disappointed by the amount of food returned when we had eaten our fill. We did manage to leave a small space for dessert (it would have been rude not to!) - the sherry trifle was light and delicious and the maple pecan pie was a joy. Thank you to all the staff who welcomed us so well and served us with style. Definitely a place to go for great food, great atmosphere and a warm welcome.

Avoid, avoid avoid, the most unprofessional place iv ever eaten,we booked lumb farm for our family's Christmas dinner (13 of us) what a disappointment , the starter was a plate of tomato ketchup, 3 chicken strips and a side salad, there was so much ketchup on the plate it was all over the salad disgusting the chicken strips definitely the frozen type, the main meal was dry and the vegetables hard, deserts were not much better, my biggest complaint is with the management, a few people in our party had to cancel due to illness, they called lumb farm 24hr before Christmas day and was told it would not be a problem to cancel they would just lose their deposit paid, this was agreed with 2 x different members of staff but on the day they charged us the full amount for the people who did not attend, we was then left arguing with staff for over 1 hour on Christmas day to get the money returned, they eventually returned some of the money but insisted on keeping the deposits and additional money on top of that, please please think again about eating here and never never pay them in advance for anything because should there be an issue of any kind you will have a massive problem getting any if your money back, the management and owners did not care that we had spent £1000.00 with them, they did not care that they were upsetting family members on christmas day they had received our money so they couldn't care less about customers service or consumer rights, there are better places in ripley to eat, my advice is go elsewhere, would definitely never go back or would never recommend

We needed a room for the night whilst visiting friends in the area. Never heard of this place before but found it through a booking site. To be honest only chose it for the close location to where we wanted to be. Pleasantly surprised. The rooms were obviously recently completed and furnished to a good standard ,bed was comfortable and all the usual requirements were available e.g.fluffy towels, tea/coffee facilities etc. Breakfast was good but perhaps not a wide choice available. Staff were courteous at check in, and also good service at breakfast. If in the area again and needed a room then would certainly stay here.

You won't be disappointed with any part of the Sunday Lunch at Lumb Farm - everything is beautifully home cooked and you get a huge portions. Your meat and yorkshire pudding is served separate to the veg which is brought out in dishes. I just can't say enough about it. You won't have room for pudding but if you do there is a lovely choice of traditional sponge and custard and other tasty options. Everything is well presented by friendly helpful staff. There will be left overs but don't worry nothing gets wasted as its fed to the adorable donkeys that are kept on the farm. Once you have been here you will defiantly want to return.
