Disappointing Experience at Applebee’s – Not Worth the Hype We booked a table at Applebee’s Fish in Borough Market to celebrate a close friend’s 50th birthday, expecting a memorable evening. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to the occasion. To start, we waited an unusually long time for our starters, only for the wrong dishes to arrive—scallop ceviche instead of the grilled scallops we had ordered. We flagged the error, and although the staff did correct it and eventually brought the grilled version, the dish itself was underwhelming. The texture was grainy and lacked the finesse we were hoping for. Thankfully, the main courses were a step up—well-cooked and genuinely tasty—but the initial mishap had already set the tone. Adding to the discomfort, the table beside us sent their main course back not once, but twice. One of the diners ended up not eating at all, which didn’t exactly instill confidence. We had mentioned in our booking that we were celebrating a 50th birthday, and while that detail was acknowledged when we arrived, there was no effort made to make it feel special. No candle, no complimentary treat with dessert—not even a small gesture. For the price point, and considering the occasion, it left us feeling quite let down. All in all, Applebee’s felt more like a polished tourist trap than the vibrant seafood spot it’s made out to be. With so many fantastic places to eat in Borough Market, I don’t think we will return.

Ray our waiter was amazing. Very friendly, attentive and funny. Ray made the birthday meal that bit more special. It was so nice to have someone with a big personality, he really made our night. So if you are eating her ask for Ray on a Friday & Saturday! Thanks Ray

Loved it, I did the Blanco Diablo challenge and succeeded! The food was immense, and the staff were lovely and attentive. The atmosphere is really cool in there, too. Oh, my shirt size is XL, by the way 😁

Great chain good veggie options and the service is always good

Its an Excellent restaurant in Bristol city . Yesterday I had a breakfast there with my friend's. We are really delighted for delicious food and quality service. Especially thanks to Sabina for her friendly service with smiley face. She was so helpful and polite.we will come again Thank you so much.

Food was mediocre. I was really disappointed with the burger at almost £16 for a burger, not including sides. I was expecting a real mince patty and not a factory pressed one. The smokey burger came with the smoke which smelt of kerosene. Not good.

Absolutely fabulous bottomless munch here today. Food, drink and service excellent. Thanks to Joe for coming in on his day off and Bankie for attentive service. Will be back again for sure.

I like this pub, it sells good food, has a nice atmosphere and lovely staff. Only been in early evening, but I can imagine it being a proper pub at night. Few and far between these days. Love it.

What have they done to the buns ! The new are like eating cotton wool . Been going to Sams for 40years and this is by far the worse change . Not sure going back

I recently took my mum here for mothers day. I know it's expensive but food/service is well worth the price, However we weren't expecting to pay £3 charge for a splash of lemonade! Ridiculous price and for that reason we as a family won't be returning! 😕
