The best restaurants in Newport Pembrokeshire West Wales

Could not find any pine nuts in the Goats cheese pizza. Otherwise a really amazing pizza.

Had cramped table wedged up next to a family who had a dog which had its head on my lap at one time. My husband had to sit with his chair partially across room entrance as I could not get to my seat otherwise. Did not expect pets to be in the restaurant in the evening? Love dogs but not when I’m eating an expensive meal. Service poor the girl who served us did not interact with us at all, explain any of the dishes as they came out or make any effort to welcome us. My husband wanted to leave a tip as food was good but girl swiftly put it in her pocket without even a thank you. Contacted manager the following week only to be told I was on her list but she was busy with bank holiday and her birthday she would get back to me- still waiting sadly will not be returning.

Fantastic lunch here today. Warm welcome and tasty food. You can tell everything is fresh and home made. Well recommend a visit

Visit Newport/Dinas every year and have been coming for over 40’years.. Golden Lion is great for dinner and lunches.. this time we had a brilliant lunch, great food and beers. Quality kids menu also.. Highly recommend..

Had a wonderful lunch for my brother's 60th. We were really looked after. Lovely food and attentive service. From fish boards through to vegan delights, would certainly visit again.

Excellent fish and chips. Great to be able to get one gluten free fish and chips - even took care to ask if coeliac so gave confidence. Also great cakes!

The room price is too high for the facilities. Dirty carpets, otherwise clean. The breakfast is meager. No fruits. Welsh breakfast quite dry.

Visited the cellar bar this evening for drinks- wow!! We were served and looked after by Quinn, who was amazing. His knowledge of the cocktails (which were delicious) was superb, 10/10 charming, friendly service. He went above and beyond to make our evening very special. Well, first of all, none of the staff had a smile on their face. They all look like they’ve been forced to work. Then, when asked simple questions, they couldn’t even give simple answers or any answers . So much so that a manager had to come over and answer a question about the sauces and spices. The service is severely left wanting. Considering the last time I went to Nando’s was over 10 years ago it will probably be another 10 years before I go again if that !!!!
