Despite being frequent visitors to Newport we had never visited here before. I imagined it was a large canteen style place for some reason. We were looking for somewhere for lunch today and the smell coming from here welcomed us in. Inside it is a small, friendly and warm cafe with really lovely painting on the wall. I ordered meat balls and my partner the curry. Both were stunning, filling and I had lots of extra veg and salad with mine. Iām sad now itās taken me so long to discover and canāt wait to revisit next time we come to Newport. The prices are not low but you can tell the food is home made, tastes amazing and has the best quality ingredients which felt well worth paying for.

Visited the cellar bar this evening for drinks- wow!! We were served and looked after by Quinn, who was amazing. His knowledge of the cocktails (which were delicious) was superb, 10/10 charming, friendly service. He went above and beyond to make our evening very special. Beautiful cocktails and atmosphere, we enjoyed every second. Thank you Quinn, we will be back! From Jack, Ellie, Lucy and Mark

We were in Newport over Christmas and went in The Royal Oak a few times. On Christmas Day we were given a free drink for our first round even though we're not locals. The pub is well laid out with a super fish tank. The beer is good and there always seems a lively, though not too noisy, throng of customers. The Royal Oaks menu specializes in curry, although there are also many other dishes available. The curry is authentically made, the menu even carries a warning that they use proper spices. The food was excellent, plenty of it a value for money.

A Nandoās is a Nandoās so you get what it says on the tin. This experience was no different and delivered. Having said that, the restaurant was cold, the toilets were freezing (no soap in menās toilet) and the music was uncomfortably loud. Considering that it was nearly empty, the attention to detail was surprisingly poor.
