Morawelon Waterfront Cafe Bar & Restaurant in Pembrokeshire

A fantastic setting with a stunning sea view, lovely friendly staff & the tastiest fish & chips I have ever eaten. I went back later to try their gluten free apple & caramel pie and it was delicious.

I came from Japan. I had fish and chips and a vegetarian cake. It was amazing. The staff are so friendly and kind. The view from the window is magnificent!!

We went here for evening dinner time - fish and chips. Prices were solid, service was smashing and the food tasted scrumdiddlyumptious HIGHly recommended

Best fish and chips around! Consistently great, crispy light batter on fresh white fish with great chips. Be prepared to wait in high season as its all cooked to order but its worth it. Whenever we have friends to stay we get our take away F and C and sit by the sea relish the lovely Parrog views. We take our own drinks but they do serve draft larger to take away and also have reasonable bottles of white wine in there fridge for £6.99 should the fancy take you.

What a treat to be able to have excellent Gluten Free fish and chips! My husband had the ‘normal’ cod and chips and he said his was excellent too. Also had a slice of awesome GF lemon meringue pie. Lots of good variety on the menu. Would definitely recommend.

Not just a takeaway- a restaurant too. The battered cod was the best I’ve had… crispy and not at all greasy. As well as traditional fish shop chips they also do French fries. There’s a fairly extensive eat in & takeaway menu.

Stopped here for some fish & chips. The service food quality and portion sizes were great! We ordered two fish & chips, portion of onion rings (box of about 20), mushy peas and two tartar sauces & large teas - £36. Very large lightly battered cod, enough thick chips weren’t greasy at all, probably too many onion rings and thick home made tartar sauce. Large portion of mushy peas. One portion of Onion rings and mushy peas enough for two people to share both. Definitely recommend 😊

We had a birthday meal here, the staff where very helpful and the food was excellent. I had the fish and chips which were the best I’ve had for ages there was a party of 7 of us and the staff reserved a table and were very attentive we would certainly return there again.Nicki who we dealt with was very helpful and obliging.

Great location, on Y Parrog. Very nice fish and chips. Ice cream from machine was very bland though.

Sadly you can only get food served in cardboard these days. Gone are those delightful meals well served and eaten with real plates and cutlery. You can eat you food in, or take it away. Morawelon is in a delightful place by the Parrog, but the whole experience has changed. Food is not bad, plenty of it, but some things no longer available.

Lovely cafe, beautiful setting. The food is always freshly cooked, recommend the scampi and chips! Lovely pasties too. Very reasonably priced. Really lovely staff and owners who really go out of their way to help. Dog friendly, great wifi which is a bonus in an area with little phone signal. Spotlessly clean, Nicki works incredibly hard. Stayed on the campsite, which is also really lovely, great facilities and clean.

Stayed on the campsite amazing views from there.. Had fish and chips, scampi and chips and burger and chips and sat on the sea wall the food was amazing, freshly prepared with fabulous service. Definitely will be going back to stay

A perfectly located take away on Parrog in Newport. The fish and chips here are excellent and can recommend them to anyone.

Rude owner wouldn’t move her car blocking the road in front of cafe. She said it’s my road My camp site I will move my car on my property when I want I am the owner. We grabbed a takeaway from here and sat on the wall overlooking the beach what's not to love. The chips and curry sauce were some of the best I've had in ages.

This is a wonderful site, not just because of its extraordinary location and stunning views but also because of the warmth and kindness shown by the owners. It’s up there with the best of the best.

This establishment was reccomended to my wife and I whilst walking around Dinas headland by someone we met on the walk. Having sampled a local chip shop a several days earlier which I can only describe the food as appalling we felt it was worth a try. We were not disappointed. We can honestly say that they were the best fish and chips we have ever eaten. The chips were crisp, perfectly cooked and not at all greasy. The fish was served with a crispy batter and again not at all greasy. We took them back to Cwm-yr-eglwys to eat and they were still piping hot when we arrived at the cottage and a single portion was more than ample for the two of us to share.

Superb fish and chips (other options available!) staff on the ball, fantastic! Had to wait a bit so had a beer in the sun, out it came - fish crispy and chips doubled cooked or something as really crispy. Lovely!!!

Fantastic lunch stop - unbeatable location with gorgeous views / super clean / great staff / excellent food.... Seriously you couldn't ask for more - I'm sure someone will say it might be too windy or sunny to eat outside but then they should have stopped at a non-descript fast food restaurant without a fantastic view and not bothered those that appreciate a real gem...We had perfectly cooked battered fish & a cheese / potato pie with probably the best chips for miles around, washed down with great Welsh beer & cider. Headed in from the pouring rain for a tea and a pasty which was delicious. Owners were lovely too and gave us some local tips. Was also the only place for a brew around Newport open past 3pm - big win!

Can not fault it, the food they do is really nice, sandwiches, pasties, cakes etc all lovely. Operates on a take out service but you can eat in, outside or take back to your accommodation. Staff are all lovely and prices are very reasonable.

We took a walk to Morawelon cafe in its beautiful coastal location and ate excellent quality cod and chips in their garden overlooking the sea. Beautifully cooked food and friendly business owners.

The wife (no comments please !!) and I took her parents and brother for lunch whilst they were visiting. Both parents are wheelchair users so accessibility is key. On booking we made Morawelon aware of this and were told it was not a problem. On arrival we had direct access to our table and had lots of room for the two wheelchairs. Staff were all very friendly and attentive. The meu whilst not the biggest did give us a decent selection and everyone enjoyed their food. In addition they were also able to cater for special dietary needs which was superb. It was also really good to see accessible toilets. All in all we had a really nice lunch which our parents really enjoyed so thank you.

We enjoyed fish and chips here twice whilst staying in the area. We were all agreed that it was by far, the nicest fish and chips we'd ever had. Both the chips, and the fish were to die for. Can't fault at all. Even the cider was delicious!! Only fault is that we're not local to enjoy it again!!

Visited the cafe twice in last week family of six meals weren't all same some had pie ,scampy,fish and chips everyone was full as you could wish fish,whitebait all perfectly cooked staff were helpful and efficient recommend you visit.

I run the pasta takeaway by Newport boat club and always recommend morawelon to my customers. Great fish & chips, best enjoyed with a pint of cold Italian Larger! Simply wonderful!

Lovely peaceful spot for fish and chips and a lager on a sunny evening. Sturdy new picnic tables, beautiful hanging baskets, waterside location, friendly staff. Food average but less important in these surroundings. Lots of attention paid to COVID security.

Amazing food! Scampi and chips, homemade curry sauce to die for, mushy peas yum! Takeaway boxes really good and easy to eat out of and my husband had a few of the Welsh beers which he loved! Thank you for amazing fresh food!

The venue is a family friendly and family run. The food is excellent in particular the new take away menu, camping on site is always pleasant and quiet. The weather can be the only downside but not a lot can be done about that :)

Called in at the end of what was obviously a busy lunch for them, on a cold October half term afternoon as a family of four. Short wait to find a table - luckily with the sea view Enjoyed sandwiches, cakes and a pudding! Friendly busy service. Always good to drop in.

Lovely cafe positioned right on the sea front. Excellent food and superb service. The fish and chips was perfect and our friend who has faddy diet requirements was well taken care of. The staff were helpful friendly and efficient. Overall it was spot on and hard to fault.

Great position on the sea front; we've just been drinking coffee and eating apple pie while watching seals in the harbour. We are regular visitors for coffee and for lunch. We have brought a friend here who needs gluten- and dairy-free food and she was very happy to be able to talk about the menu with staff who knew what went into everything. They cook to order, so when it's very busy in high season you sometimes have to wait a bit, but the food and the coffee has always been great and the service is kind and friendly.

I've given a 5 as an overall impression and response. You could wish more of a campsite - a bigger toilet block, a little shop, a games room for children - but that's not my point.I loved it, and so did we all, my partner Sarah and I, grandchildren Lola (12) and Marlie (5) and Lola's 2 friends Melomi (12) and Elijah (11). It's a beautiful location so close to the water in the hamlet of Parrog. We'd come in a hired campervan with 5 bikes. I really enjoyed cycling up to the little town of Newport to get croissants in the morning, another time to get steak and wine. The children rode all over the campsite, particularly little Marlie, for whom it was very safe. Newport's pretty (and now fairly smart); the butcher was very good, the little supermarket is more than adequate, we had great service at the launderette, and the coffee bars are good. Delicious cooked breakfast at Blas one morning.Above all the site has feel. It's friendly and quirky. Nicky pressed a glass of wine on me more than once while we were sorting out business. There were families with children all around.We shall be going again :-)

Called in here for drinks and a snack on Sunday mid-afternoon, after a coastal walk. Good location on the Parrog. Cafe busy - plenty of people still eating their Sunday Roasts.Friendly service and great array of snacks and menu items, including lovely looking cakes and local dishes. Good selection of hot and cold drinks - including beer ‘specials’. Outdoor seating at front and back - we chose the front, overlooking the Parrog. I had a Welsh “Taffy Apple” cider and a warm cheese scone - definitely hit the spot!Would have gone back if time had allowed

The campsite is behind the cafe bar, we found the site over crowded with large groups of rowdy adults. Loud into the early hours.

It is always a great pleasure to revisit this special place annually. We have stayed on the campsite for almost 20 years. It really cannot be beaten for location. Three fields on a gently rising site that all look directly over Newport Bay and the Beach. Because the site is at the end of the road to the estuary, there is no traffic noise and on a sunny day, the views stretch all the way to the Horizon.
