Had a chicken breast, curry sauce and a portion of chips. The curry sauce was very tasty and spicy. The chicken breast was average and small in size. I have to say the chips were absolutely awful. Greasy and soggy. I ate about six of them. Some of the worst chips I have had from a chip shop. Totally devoid of fluffiness and crispiness. On a family holiday thankfully and not my local chip shop. The order for a family of six cost £68.

I’m sorry but this was the worst fish and chips . Greasy and soggy old chips and the fish didn’t even taste like fish …over fried and awful. Can’t believe that you would serve this type of food to the public.

In Pembroke overnight en route to Ferry to ROI, stopped at Rowlies to buy takeaway F & C but on seeing the place chose to eat in. Pleasant & spotless surroundings, superb food, excellent service from friendly staff, very reasonable prices. What's not to like !!

My family and I ordered fish and chips from this place and it was oily greasy expensive and tasted horrible. Everyone felt sick some of us threw up. Wouldn’t recommend!

This is a fabulous place to eat if you just worked up an appetite after walking round Pembroke castle. Food was fabulous, very large portions, so make sure you're hungry. And staff were amazing.

Great fish and chips. Good sized, well cooked cod, and a large portion of excellent chips. They have mushy peas, which as a northerner, is a great thing. They have an extensive menu, as well as alcoholic drinks, if that's what you want. Loved our food. Service was quick and friendly. What's not to like?

Excellent chippy shop in the center of Pembroke, parking could be an issue despite there are paid parking lots nearby.

Rowlies is a staple of Pembroke Main Street, sitting right on the corner of the busy junction and in the heart of Pembroke. I remember visiting Rowlies years ago when I was a kid and I have fond memories of ordering a large chips and eating them down by the Mill Pond. 20 years on and Rowlies is still such a favourite of mine. The portions are generous, the prices fair and the staff are ever so kind and quick. There is a good amount of seating inside and if not, the many scenic spots around Pembroke make for a beautiful view to accompany your fish and chips. What else is there to say? A classic fish and chips shop in a beautiful town. Perhaps just as iconic as the castle itself. Google seems to think it's a hotel but as far I know Rowlies is just a fish and chip shop.

The food was okay but the fish was more batter than fish. The children's meal was a good size. Friendly service.

Visited here several times when on holiday over the last few years. It has always been a great experience and usually eat in as opposed to take away. The restaurant area is nice and is dog friendly with a good food and drinks menu. Prices are good and the food is great, I highly rated the chips. Service has also been spot on. I would recommend this place to anyone....almost as good as my own local 😊.

Rowlies is always amazing for takeout fish and chips. It’s our annual ’go to’ destination when camping at Kingsmill Camping in Pembrokeshire after erecting the tents. Superb portions, good value and great food for adults and kids. All the usual condiment's available: mushy peas, curry sauce, geeking and pickled eggs.

Hands down the best fish and chips I've ever had!! Not sure why Google thinks this is a hotel, but had to come on and say just amazing fish and chips. We ate in the restaurant and was served immediately. There was always a line of people waiting out of the door for the takeaway side, as everyone knows what good food they do here. 10/10

Tasty battered sausage. Best ever! Tasty cod, but dry. Chips were very disappointing. Not the standard we’ve had here previously.. Dry, bland, and couldn’t taste the salt and vinegar. Staff polite as always!

Stopped for lunch fab food lovely fish and chips

Visited based on the positive reviews seen on this site. Dined in and the restaurant section was clean and spacious. The food was great and one of the best fish and chips I have ever had. The batter was very light and not greasy. The chips were great and the portion size offered value for money. Whilst only visiting the area, I’d recommend and go back if I had the chance.

Fish was cooked to perfection, chips were great and from Manchester so know my chips. Lovely service and the seating area was modern, clean with plenty of room.

The battered sausage was really nice, even the batter was tasty. On first looks, the curry sauce didn’t look up to par, but it was surprisingly nice. The chips, however, let it down, as you can see some are undercooked and at the bottom they were soggy.

We always treat ourselves to Rowlies Fish and Chips when holidaying in Pembrokeshire and are never disappointed. The portions are generous and the cod and chips really tasty. The restaurant looks clean and orderly and staff are always professional. We’ll be back.

Lunch was amazing, one of the best fish and chips I ever had. Both chips and fish were mot oily at all. Nice atmosphere too.

Medium cod & chips was tasty, though I did feel the amount of batter gave the impression the cod was larger than it actually was, also would have been better to have choice of not only white bread but brown too. There was a small amount of salad served with it which had a strange tasting dressing, probably just something I wasn't used to, though my friend wasn't keen on it either tbh. Warm, clean restraunt.

We're locals but had never been to Rowlies before tonight, always loved driving past and seeing all the Christmas decor so we decided to give it a go and it has absolutely become our new go-to for a chippy tea! Chips were perfectly cooked and flavourful, curry sauce was my favourite, gravy, pie and beans all lush 10/10 would recommend. We sat in to eat and the restaurant was gorgeous, food came out so quickly and all the staff were so lovely! We'll definitely be back again! ❤️

I gave a polite review previously although highly accurate. As I cannot respond to your answer any other way here it is. The food was absolutely disgusting, the grease fat and salt over powered everything. I have been leaving reviews on trip advisor for over 10 years, I do not have to put a profile on for anyone!! Your food is awful!! Rapeseed does not taste of salt!!! We had already gone away from the town by the time we had the food, we were not going to return. It was disgusting full stop. If you can't take criticism seriously then you will not last much longer. Especially given your hygiene rating of 2..sort yourself and your business out, your attitude is like your food!! Terrible!!!!

Truly excellent food. The missus couldn't quite finish her chips so we got a tray to take the rest away, they're far too good to waste! Staff are super nice too 😊.

Honestly growing up as a spud boy picking potatoes the smell of the earth when there turned over making chips is an art but Rowleys chef the boy who cooks the chips is a master at it no word of a lie banging chips crispy on the outside soft and fluffy in the middle honestly great chef serious contender for Pembrokeshire 5 stars all the way I noticed that one woman Donna wetter complained about the food I'm a chef have been 30 years worked all over Britain and Europe and I buy chips often from this amazing establishment and not a chance in hell do they hand over bad food honestly stunning fish and chips and always very clean oil nasty dig that very unfair

Hadn’t been here for since last year as the last couple of times food was very dry and well under par . Went last night on way home from work at 7.30, we had been looking forward to our favourite place - Mr Chips - all day, but for some reason it had closed early. I thought maybe Rowlies had improved so would give it another go but Nope - it was awful, actually felt sick after eating it. Fish was slimy, grey, tasteless and undercooked, batter was soggy and way too much, chips tasted like they had been repeatedly cooked . Will certainly not be returning, especially after the last time I rang them to let them know how poor it was and the girl who answered just said ‘Ok, thankyou’ . I would rather go without .

Really good restaurant. We had regular fish and chips plus mushy peas and coleslaw to share. And two Welsh lagers £35.60. Can't fault it. It came with a small sidesalad. Ketchup and sauces are from sachets. Nice staff, clean place. Great value.

Wanted a quick decent lunch before visiting Pembroke Castle and were so fortunate to find this place. All the staff were friendly and polite, the waiter who served us couldn’t have been better, the restaurant was spotless and looks new. We had the scampi and chips and small cod and chips which were cooked to perfection and served with a nice salad garnish with a lovely dressing, mushy peas were great too. I have to say the chips were fantastic, nice and crispy and very moreish, would definitely recommend.

Tasty chips, the chicken breast on the bone my husband loved. Especially as there isn't may places that do it now.

There was more salt on the food than there is in the sea, it was greasy and even more unhealthy than a Chippy should be. I would think I had my allowance of salt for the week on one sausage. I was looking forward to that, but to put it politely it was not a pleasant experience.

Take away fish and chips while holidaying in Pembrokeshire. Among the best we have ever had, so nice we went for a second night later in the week which is a first 😄. No haddock but the cod was delicious and the chips amazing. There was a large queue when we arrived unsurprising due to the quality but extremely well managed so we only waited 15 minutes. Highly recommend 😊

Just like to say I visited Rowlies,I'm an asian man with my family. And the staff were staring at us and watching us like they've never seen coloured people before. They weren't welcoming at all, I ordered the food and when we were eating it the fish was soaking in oil and horrible, and the chips were bad aswell. So I don't think we will be coming back here again.

We stopped off here for a quick bite. I got fish and chips and my wife got sausage chips and curry sauce. Two drinks. It’s the biggest fish we have been served in a chippy before! I recommend this place if you’re nearby.

Visited twice (first time was that good). Both times the food was incredible, very well priced and tasted more like home cooking than a chippy. Staff were friendly, attentive and couldn't do enough.

Excellent fish and chips (although haddock doesn't seem to be available in this part of the country). The order was freshly prepared and ready in a few minutes. It's worth mentioning the chips in particular, which maintained their light crispness right to the end of the meal. We had a take out meal which we enjoyed on the bank of the estuary opposite, along with a take out beer from The Royal George.

Came across this chippy whilst staying in Pembroke, you can sit in or takeaway..we sat in..Omg!..hubby & I had fish & chips, so delicious 😋 staff were very friendly too. Its obviously popular because it was very busy but we didn't struggle getting to get a seat. Definitely recommend 👌

A must visit when In Pembroke ! Some of the best Fish and Chips I have had ( coming from someone whose family have owned two fish and chip shops for over 15 years ) great service and lovely ambiance inside as well. Very Reasonably priced too given location the rising costs of energy and potatoes. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and I cannot overstate what a lovely shop this is!

After a wet and windy morning this fish and chip shop saved the day! Excellent value and big portions, kids menu with a good selection - it was quick and everyone enjoyed their meal. It was clean with plenty of seating and had a good toilet facility. The staff were so friendly, smiling and helpful which was a relief after the rudeness we encountered at the Royal George down the road. We would recommend Rowlies if you’re in Pembroke!

Very generous portions of great fish and chips and really friendly staff too. I’m not a cider drinker normally but really recommend it here.

Been here a few times and has been generally good. We went this evening and the fish and chips were absolutely dreadful. Can't believe how horrible they were. Really shocked because the place appeared very popular. Won't be going here again in a hurry.

We were in the area for a few hours and needed a quick lunch. Not knowing the town very well, we walked around and eventually opted for Rowlies, and it was a good choice. The place was clean, very welcoming, and was popular with a whole cross section of people, from a group of young mums with babies, large family groups, tourists and older people eating alone. I chose the mini cod and chips, which was still a generous portion. My husband went for the regular version which almost defeated him. Both meals were delicious, with crisp batter, moist fish, great chips (not greasy at all), and a serving of dressed leaves and lemon wedges. All washed down with mugs of hot tea, and served with a smile. I'd happily recommend Rowlies!

Ended up here as there's not many places to eat. The shop looks very clean but the sausage and chips my son and I had was very greasy.

Food had way to much vinegar on it they give you a sausage separate with your chips asked for no vinegar and gave me vinegar.
