Came here last week during half term . The restaurant was near lydstep beach where we staying and thought we would book a meal here. The restaurant was only half full when we arrived at 7pm and we was met by a very pleasant young lady. Unfortunately from sitting down to being offered a drink this took 20. Minutes . The young lady did apologise saying it was only herself and a colleague serving on that particular evening.another 15 minutes later I had to stop the waitress to ask if we could order. The food took 45 minutes and it came lukewarm. To be honest the whole evening was awkward and poor . Real shame because if it was good it would be a goldmine.

Used to eat here often and was great but has been going downhill for some time, won’t be going back. 40 minute wait for food when we were the only people there. Food not worth the wait. Pizza somehow burned and undercooked as well as the base being almost entirely semolina. Kids food awful. £4 for a tiny serving of microwaved peas…absolute joke. Desserts were terrible, microwaved to inedible, my sons cookie sandwich completely burned. Save yourself petrol money and go literally anywhere else. Eat out regularly and can honestly say that was the worst meal I’ve ever had.

The restaurant is in an attractive situation with stunning views of the sea and coast. The staff were very friendly and obliging but overall this was a disappointing experience and we don't plan to return. Pizzas were off the menu supposedly because they'd not had a delivery and for an Italian- themed restaurant, this was very poor. Service was fairly slow. The food was acceptable but very heavy in carbs with little or no salad or vegetables. I don't consider baked beans as a vegetable. The children didn't enjoy their macaroni cheese. Overall this was an underwhelming culinary experience unfortunately.

We booked a family meal at the Waves restaurant but after being seated, there was very little interest in taking our order so after calling a member of staff, our food order was taken at around 8:30pm. We noticed that the table behind us had been served their main meal & desert in the time we waited so we called a member of staff again to ask why our order was taking so long but she went off to the kitchen & never returned so after waiting 45 minutes, I asked to speak to the manager who said our order was on its way. After our food was delivered, the staff started to clean the restaurant down as we were by now the only customers left which left us feeling frustrated & when our main meal was finished at 9:45pm, we were asked if we wanted desert as the chef was about to leave! This service was diabolical, over an hour from sitting down to receiving our basic order of steak & chips then to have tables being cleared while we were eating is beyond anything I’ve ever experienced before & will most certainly never return.

Unfortunately the 'Italian Influence' was a concept rather than a reality! The pasta was overcooked & bland, no parmesan cheese available and all Pizzas were off. We were looking forward to a nice meal at the Celtic Haven Luxury resort but were very disappointed. Granted it was their first night open after 6-7 months lockdown closure but the Front of House staff were badly let down by the kitchen who had not made the effort get to right for re-opening!

We stayed in the Celtic Haven cottages on the adjoining site and used the restaurant three times during our stay. We had intended to eat out elsewhere more often however found restaurants in the area very hit and miss (see my other reviews!) So we were glad of the waves restaurant who managed to fit us in when we booked on the day despite them obviously being very popular. Menu was relatively simple with Italian style dishes and English classics but food was good, well presented and they catered to our toddler very well. The staff were lovely and took everything in their stride. We wanted to eat on Wednesday but discovered this is a day they are closed so be sure to check the website! We always booked ahead although usually it was on the same day. There is a carpark with a good playpark next door. The view from the restaurant is across the gold course to the cliffs of Lystep Haven and glimpses of the sea across to the islands. See my photos for menu, inside and food.

Was called on the day of our booking by Betty the Operations Manager to be told very rudely and abruptly that our reservation was cancelled. With far reaching views of Lydstep Haven and Caldey Island, this lovely little restaurant has great possibilities. The chef was eating a huge roll in the kitchen when we walked in to an empty restaurant. Not a great sight, but he was also waiting on us and to be fair, he was quite pleasant. We ordered toasted Brie and bacon ciabatta with hot chocolate and a desert. The sandwich was flattened with barely any cheese and no sight of any relish in it. I was quite pleased we ordered one to share and not two! The desert had no flavour whatsoever and just tasted of whipped cream and sadly, the hot choccie didn’t have enough chocolate. Chefs need to taste their food and have senior members of staff check it too! It’s great to employ youngsters, but their tastes may not be as refined as they could be! Such a shame....please improve!!

We had a marvellous lunch at Waves last Friday. We were a party of 9 including my niece who is coeliac. The chef was more than happy to chat with her about the options which were suitable for her and the choice available for her was very good indeed. The menu is excellent with plenty of choice and the lasagne, which was recommended by our parents who are regulars, was indeed exceptional. Coupled with a very good value wine list and absolutely top-notch service, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would have no hesitation in returning. Thoroughly recommended - thank you all very much.

What a find! The Waves restaurant at Celtic Haven certainly lived up to its fantastic reputation as we enjoyed a fabulous valentine’s supper on Saturday night. Fish was our choice for mains... the brill certainly was (brill) and the sea bass was equally nice, especially its delicious sauce. What’s not to love about pudding and we were spoiled for choice. My partner opted for the creme brûlée and I the rum & raisin panna cotta... WOW! It was magnificent! Fabulous 5 star service from Lin & her team... sensational food.. and then a very short walk back to our holiday cottage. Bravo Celtic Haven... we will most definitely be back!

26 of us from Penally Bridge club met at the Waves Restaurant for our annual Christmas lunch. The starters were superb, the Turkey was very poor,it was very fatty with lots of sinews. The veg was served piping hot, shame the sprouts, Swede and carrots and potatoes were all served together in one dish which was not ideal for people who do not like all of them. There was plenty of gravy which was a plus. The salmon, for those who ordered it looked really good, with a very generous serving. The cheesecake was really good.Shame about the Turkey.Staff very friendly ,but had a bit of a job to get to everyone as there was very little room for them to move between the customers.Maybe a little thought in booking so many people at one sitting would help.

We stayed close to the restaurant with another family in a lovely location in Lydstep, Pembrokeshire. The waves restaurant was close by and very convenient for us to go for a meal and seeing some of the positive reviews on tripadvisor we thought we would give it a shot. The restaurant itself is located in the village of Lydstep and is part of the Celtic Haven resort. We booked a table for 7pm and with 3 kids under the age of 7 admittedly we arrived a little late at 715pm. The restaurant wasn’t full but our table wasn’t ready yet so we waited till 740pm to be shown to our table. We did manage to order beforehand though whilst waiting. Our Food finally arrived at 8.10pm, with not a second to spare with 3 hungry children! We ordered 2 pizzas and 2 plates of pasta for the adults. I do like pizzas and have had authentic pizzas from Naples but also do enjoy the occasional pizza from chains like papa johns. The Pizzas we were served weren’t very good at all. I should have stayed in and ordered a delivery from papa johns! The base was thick and we could tell they were cooked from frozen. The pasta dishes were on the specials menu and was supposed to be a linguini with seafood cooked with tarragon and white wine. I had a couple of mouthfuls from my wife’s plate and it was pretty tasteless. I could have cooked better myself to be honest. On the plus side the portions were large I guess but this wasn’t a redeeming quality. We paid up and fed back to the waitress what we thought. Won’t be back again. Hope the restaurant takes on board the feedback and improves especially on food quality.

Visited with family for my birthday and it wasn’t a huge success firstly I must mention the very nice mature waitress who was very good and attentive but the other service was slow despite the restaurant apparently quiet we were not offered dessert had to ask for dessert menu and the only one I wanted was off the menu , why leave it on the tray? We all declined, the meal itself was satisfactory except with an incident with a starter containing a moving extra! In all fairness was not charged and given a complimentary white wine spritzer which really was the very least they could do but it had spoiled my night, have eaten there before and found it very good but the standards appeared to have slipped so waves reading some of your other reviews you need to buck up a bit, it will be interesting to see if this review is replied to as I notice only the favourable reviews have warranted comments

Its clear looking at the recent reviews that this place is in decline. Went this evening and the restaurant was less than half full so was surprised to be waiting an hour and fifteen minutes for anything to arrive. Started with a kids meal served on a red hot plate placed straight in front of a toddler, near miss but we had not even tasted anything at this stage. From three adult meals nothing was worth the wait or the price. 1. Pizza I was tempted to ask if I could look in the kitchen because I'm sure this was an over stacked creation straight from a well known supermarket chain just heated up Nothing like the pictures and definitely not done in a pizza oven or freshly baked. 2. Steak. Not cooked as requested. asked for medium and arrived well cremated. 3. Linguine. totally tasteless. Its a shame really because older reviews seem favourable and the venue is nice. Buyer beware

I called in here for a coffee and a snack whilst waiting for the bus back to Tenby. Although the restaurant isn't officially dog-friendly, I appreciated the manager using his discretion to allow mine in as it was a little chilly outside. The staff were friendly and attentive, the coffee was excellent, and the bacon & brie panini which I ordered was generous and came with coleslaw and salad. The restaurant itself has a clean, fresh decor - see photo - and the view over Lydstep bay is spectacular. I had a look at the dinner menu which, though perhaps limited in options, tempted me to return for a more substantial meal, Some mealy-mouthed reviewers on this site have complained about the smell of chlorine from the nearby swimming pool. I have to say that there was absolutely no sign of this when I visited

After an amazing freezing walk it was time for lunch. The two spots we had planned on were both closed. Well it is that time of the year. The only options was this spot and going back to Tenby and trying to find something on the high street. Well a restaurant at a holiday park illicited some unpleasant memories of dried out sausage rolls in the warmer and sour faces. This was the exact opposite and we were very, very glad we popped in to check it out. My 8 year olds rating was delicious and scrumptious. The restaurant is part of a spa complex, beautifully and tastefully decorated with views to forever. The food was tasty, well thought out and hiker portion sizes and although we all drew in a big breath when the plates arrived as we’re all small eater, we did a good job of getting through it. I can’t fault anything. The lasagna was perfectly balanced between cheese, pasta, meat and other goodness. The special steak and ale pie pastry top, was light, fluffy and buttery. The pie meat was tender, rich and perfect amount of gravy. The bowl was cleaned. The side of veg were crisp and fresh, the rough mash went perfectly with the pie. My daughters chicken nuggets were real chicken and we all stole from her plate. We rounded it off with hot choc and really good coffee. All served by a friendly, professional and nothing was too much Julie. The menu is small but with options in each class and one of the better kids menus I’ve seen. Recommended!

Fantastic sea views but unable to cater for coeliac diners despite what is written on their menu and assurances given when booking and during the meal. The pasta was ghastly, the sauce like cheap ketchup........ Our meal of arancini starter and then goats cheese salad was O.K. Our poor friend was very sick afterwards. This is a very dangerous situation and they should not be employing staff who do not understand basic dietary requirements.

Once drinks arrived took at least 20 mins before food order was taken and we had to ask. We had ordered a second round of drinks but they never came. This is a popular place so it's best to book in advance. Fortunately we landed before service got busy, so we were accommodated with no fuss with an hour's window. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient, and my request for a certain dish was equally received with good grace. That's the way to treat a customer and their flexibility made the whole dining experience absolutely top-notch!

We regularly visit Lydstep for breaks but didn't realise that non-guests of Celtic Haven could dine at Waves. This holiday we have had two lovely evening meals at Waves - very much enjoyed the setting and the food was wonderful. The staff we met are a credit to the restaurant, namely Chris and Anita. Our son has learning disability/Autism and Anita was absolutely wonderfully kind to him. Thank you AnitaWe all recommend and shall definitely return next time we are in Pembrokeshire. Many thanks

Visited for a family birthday . The two older ladies were great, seated us, took orders really friendly. The younger staff were pretty awful (?lack of training/ experience). Food was ok but the same sauce seemed to be on everything - the mussels , the fish . I just expected better for the price. If I went again I think I'd rather go for lunch and sit outside with the nice view .

My wife and I visited on Saturday for the second year running, unfortunately the restaurant is only available to us on our hols, and yet again we were not disappointed. You are warmly greeted by Chris who runs through the specials board and that's as good as the main menu itself. I had the moules mariniere to start and the Sirloin steak to follow. Absolutely beautiful, every part of the meal was soooo tasty.I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough, you really won't be disappointed a must if you are in the Tenby/ Lydstep area, we will certainly be returning when we next visit the area.

L, Phil Sis and I ate here twice last week and had take out pizza another evening. The restaurant is onsite for where were were staying and so very convenient. Sunday lunch....we'd booked for 2pm and following cooked breakfast in our cottage and a long walk on the headland and beach, we made it into the restaurant. Sis and I had the chicken in a creamy peppercorn sauce. Phil and L had the beef. All meals were very good indeed. The portion sizes were great and the food very well prepared. I especially liked the fresh vegetables which were cooked beautifully and plentiful. On Tuesday night there was some live music so we booked again. This time L and I had the crevette to start which was good. I had a burger that was obviously homemade and was juicy and full of flavour. Phil had the welsh lamb and L had the pasta - chorizo ravioli. On Friday, although they were fully booked, Gemma arranged for us to collect pizza's that we'd pre-ordered. Chris (front of house) was very welcoming while we waited and told us some of the history of the site. The pizza's were very good also. Now to the trifle. Phil Sis and I had these on both occasions when we ate in and when we had take out pizza, Chris/Gemma arranged for us to also have take out trifle. These are made each morning and were the best I can remember ever having....so good we had them three times last week!!!! Lots of sherry, lots of custard and plenty of cream. Brill. I've eaten in a couple of times over the years and reviewed the restaurant on Tripadvisor previously. The food this time was much better and made our holiday. Thanks Waves, thanks Chris and your team.

Visited on a Friday evening with friends.Booked ahead and requested a window seat - I think they have 3 window tables and you do get a glimpse of the sea. We parked outside the restaurant, not a huge car park but during busy times there is further parking down the road with a short walk to the premises. We arrived to a warm, friendly greeting. Gentleman behind the bar was very helpful as was the lady who showed us to our seats. Quite a big, bright, airy room with checked tablecloths, lovely ambience.A varied menu, offering mostly Italian based meals. We all had the soup to start, which was delicious. Then for main, one party member had the steak, another had a chicken dish and two of us had the risotto, which all of us enjoyed. The waitress was extremely helpful and as one of us had a dairy intolerance and the other was gluten free - as you can imagine, we had lots of questions. She liaised with the chef and they were more than happy to adapt the meals to suit our requirements, which was very much appreciated. The meals were very generous and we couldn't manage the desserts on offer. They bring them to the table for you to see - which is a lovely touch. And they all looked so good. We live locally and this was our first visit but it definitely will not be our last. They do special lunch menus as well as takeaways ...... try it - you will not be disappointed.

An extremely accessible restaurant. There was plenty room to access the tables which had lovely red ginham tablecloths, good quality glassware and cutlery. A slight negative was the paper napkins. The room is airy and tastefully decorated, you can't help but comment that 'This is nice.'As we arrived we were greeted by a very pleasant maitre d'otel who went through the specials board. The food was really tasty and well presented. The chef accomodates food allergies which is very thoughful. This is the rare find. I got to have a dessert here! They amended a dessert to enable me to have it.tThe staff were helpful and accomodating and he service was outstanding. If the weather had been fine we would have had a lovely sea view!Parking is a bit of a trek and you have to access the bathroom facilities in Celtic Haven which, if your in a wheelchair means that you have to leave the restaurant and go in through a separate entrance, if you walking you can walk along a small corridor up one step. Definitely we will go again.

We received a courteous and personal welcome. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere and decor and service for a drinks order was swift and efficient. The menu offered a wide range of lunch dishes and our choices arrived promptly and were most enjoyable. We were asked twice if everything was all right and the staff were very attentive. It was a good choice for a casual and relaxed lunch with my husband and a friend. We noticed families, a ladies' group, a 40th birthday party and several couples, all enjoying this venue. It is attached to a spa, so ladies in towelling robes also made an appearance!

We escaped a downpour here, we weren't planning on lunch, but ordered a sausage sandwich to share and it was great. The place was packed and very busy, but we'll run. The buildings are interesting, a maze of properties joined together, with the brewery downstairs. There's also a shop and coffee shop part of Harbwr. There are many places to eat and drink in Tenby and this one should not be missed
