Myself and friends had a beautiful Christmas lunch today but my friends were disapointed at the price of a small bottle of wine costing £5.70 each. The only reason a complaint wasn't made is because some of the proceeds go to the charity. It's a bit extortionate for a small bottle so please be aware of this.

Love this place, we have been here a few times now and it certainly doesn't disappoint. One of our favourite go-to restaurants. They've got friendly staff, good food, a great atmosphere and a warm welcoming vibe. Whenever anyone asks me about this place, I always give a good word and recommend to everyone I know!! In love!

We were staying in a cottage close to St Asaph so get a taxi over to the pub to escape storm Bert on the Saturday afternoon. It was my 1st try of Lees beer and in the end I tried 3 or 4 of them. The regulars are friendly and the young lady behind the bar offered me a taste of some of the local beer to see if I liked it before trying pints.

So, we thought it would be nice to have our Christmas day spent with someone else doing all the cooking. We were booked in for 15:15pm so we arrived earlier just to make sure we could relax and enjoy the atmosphere. We spent over £72.99 each, plus we added a few extras (pigs in blankets/cauliflower with cheese so you could say more like £80 each, which is expensive when all adds up but we thought it was fine as the pressure would not be on us getting it all prepared. As we arrived there was a queue at the door which wasn't too long and we were taken to our table nearly straight away which was a pleasant surprise. We ordered our drinks as the bar area looked very busy but we had to wait about 35 minutes (way too long) and then a few minutes after that our starters came out which they were really lovely. For some unknown reason they then brought out our desserts (which we told the server that we had only just had our starters) that again after waiting for our mains course which had taken around 45 minutes to come out again which again was lovely. We understand they were very busy but they where so very disorganised and nearly every table around us was all having similar problems which wasn't a good look for Marstons (again the food was lovely, but the service was absolutely terrible). So after a lovely main meal, again even more waiting time for our desserts that we started to notice people in the restaurant had given up hope and weren't even waiting for their desserts but wanted that taken off their bill so that they could go home. So, if you don't mind terrible service but lovely food this is for u. They didn't provide the best service and one of the staff members said to people leaving was "I can only apologise" which wasn't what you wanted to hear after paying that sort of money!

Unfortunately second visit in the past few weeks and I was disappointed again! First visit had to return a vegetarian burger which was rock solid. But to be fair was swiftly and politely resolved with a lovely fresh burger. Today , Sunday had two Sunday pork roast dinner which was supposedly served with crackling, we didn't see any crackling, and no apple sauce. What left the meal down as well is that it was cold. Cold food and plates! Two roast dinner, single gin and tonic and a pint of fruity cider £42.75. Our plates where quickly cleared without asking if everything was ok.

Sausage roll was warm as expected. Not bad value. Chicken bake was disappointingly cold, therefore poor value and I was looking forward to a November’s day hot slice whilst on the road. I will give this place a miss next time, and I pass frequently.
