Left standing at counter with wife and daughter for about 5 minutes without being acknowledged by 3 staff members. Finally had to ask "how can I order?" . Which elicited a response....was then served by a highly unfriendly young staff member who gave filthy looks. Order then took about 20 minutes and was wrong - and drinks and pastries were really poor.

Cafe was not busy at the time we ordered. Our order of coffee and scones took more than 20 minutes - the coffee (brought first) was nearly cold by the time the scones arrived - without jam despite having been ordered. One pat of butter hardly covered one half of scone and as the scones were dry you needed both butter jam and drink! Staff more interested in chatting than meeting customer needs. Would not recommend.

Expensive and unfriendly. Cafe staff need training in food handling and customer relations. Handling food and money without washing hands

On our first visit to the site, having wandered around the Tweedmill store and found plenty to interest us, we decided to stop for refreshments in the Tower Coffee Shop, which is on the first floor, directly above the entrance. First impressions: Walking into the café, there are very unwelcoming signs on almost every spare bit of wall space demanding no unpurchased items be brought into the area, and equally unfriendly signs in large red capitals ordering that you must be allocated a table at the counter. On arrival, there were fairly few customers at tables, yet most of the empty tables had uncollected crockery on them. After around 5 minutes of standing waiting at the counter (as in, there was no-one else waiting but us), we were served by a friendly young lady. We ordered two lattes, a slice of carrot cake, a shortbread and a fruit shoot for our son. We were allocated a table. The table was covered in crumbs, so I politely asked the one other member of staff working at the time who brought our order to us (a less friendly middle aged lady) if she would clean the table for us. She looked inconvenienced and proceeded to wipe most of the crumbs into my lap. However, the coffees were lovely and were nice and hot, with a milk pattern on top. The carrot cake was moist and delicious and our son devoured the shortbread. All in all, really good produce let down by one unfriendly staff member and some seriously unwelcoming signage.

After spending an hour or so trying, but failing, to find a bargain in the Tweedmill Shopping Outlet we decided to have a coffee and cake in the coffee shop. Now I know it was busy(ish) but things did not get off to a good start with many tables covered in used crockery. Having self-cleared a table I sat and waited, and waited, whilst my wife queued to be served. She eventually returned with two cakes but no coffee. Apparently, the two staff behind the counter were having a few problems. After about 10 minutes the coffees arrived. Both were far too hot to the point where the coffee had lost its taste. Another couple who had waited a similar time were served their coffees without saucers as there weren't any clean ones. The staff were apologetic but having paid almost £13 for two coffees and two small cakes, one should expect better.

After sampling the vast choice of merchandise in the Tweedmill, it was great to relax with an excellent coffee in a relatively quiet corner of this huge complex. There was a disappointing choice of mediocre sandwiches, but an good selection of really nice looking cakes. If you wish for more than cake, be advised to visit the main cafe on the ground floor which is accessed through the food hall

If you don't want a full meal whilst in Tweedmill then upstairs is the place to go. Lovely fresh cakes to choose from. The coffee is good - so my husband says. I enjoyed my cup of tea. And the cakes again are delicious. Nice place to just sit and chat before, or after, browsing through the fashions, kitchen, bedroom ware etc. Coach parties always seem to be stopping here en-route to their destination or returning home.

Visited today, cafe was very cold inside. 2small coffees, 1tea,2 yogurts and a bacon roll £24. Bacon roll was microwaved, uncooked and fatty. Both female toilets had no toilet paper even though only 4 people in the cafe. Staff were both on their phones. Very disappointing

Came to visit with my grandchildren after been recommended quite a few times. Whole experience from start to finish was awful. No booking system so you just turn up wait for a table to become free pay for an hour. No communication from staff or noticed advising this. What made it worse a man came along with family of 5 said I work here and was let in right past everyone that had been in the queue. Accept there may be perks for being a staff member but shouldn’t be allowed to jump the queue especially as they did not pay. Noticed the said family eating and drinking their own food bought in when clear notices against this. Young lady said have cleared your table it ready. We ended up wiping it ourselves with baby wipes along with the chairs before we could sit down. Bits of disguarded food all over the dirty floors clearly a slip hazard. Older children playing in the toddlers area wasn’t safe for my granddaughter. Waited 15 mins to be served 2 coffees with no one in front of me. Young staff gave no idea what they are doing. Just stand and stare at you blankly. No management around to delegate duties. We ended up coming out after 35 minutes and won’t be returning !!!
