Lovely cafe, and what a fab bookshop! Great selection, a real gem of an independent bookseller with a sense of personality and place.

Friendly staff, hearty, simple menu, great coffee. We stopped here after walking Crickhowell to Brecon via the Black Mountains. They weren’t bothered about muddy boots but we took off at door anyway. Toilets immaculate. Chef’s playlist that could be heard in the dining area - not a bad song on it for about an hour. Good on him!!

Spotlessly clean lovely caffi coffee was really good and excellent staff can definitely recommend this cafe. If you are visiting. Watch the big car park as it wasn't taking cash payment the day we were there only online

Mock timber frame manor house retaining much of its character and charm. No lifts. Breakfast was choose your own pre-packed cereals with a cooked option. Dinner was a mini-taster with delicious options which we watched cooked on TV cameras. The room was clean but dated with an en-suit crammed in. High windows restricted light and views of extensive gardens and river. The staff were friendly and willing but lacked service training. Guests our age do not wish to be called 'you guys'.

Lovely place, nice atmosphere, great staff. Only ruined by enormous TV screen constantly playing sports channels.

Stopped by here for a bite to eat and a coffee during a circular walk to the north of Llanidloes. What a lovely little find. We had jacket potatoes, chocolate cake and mince pies alongside a coffee. Delicious food and the cake is exceptional.

Family of six enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch; all three courses were brilliantly presented and tasty too! Beautifully presented table with linen table cloth and crackers. We all ordered different mains and they were plentiful in portion sizes. Fantastic value for money. Children were very well catered for. A wonderful meal after our traditional visit to see Father Christmas. Many thanks to all the team - a great day out.

The lovely waitress went out of her way to make us feel comfortable after we’d tried unsuccessfully to find lunch with a dog in Brecon. Despite being full in the doggy area we were offered a special table in the bookshop. My son was having a bit of a fussy day and the lovely staff amended the menu to make him something he liked. Even added squirty cream to the pudding! Think he rewrote their menu! Very attentive, knowledgable and friendly staff. Lovely soup, sandwiches, Welsh rarebit and banana loaf.

Fabulous ice cream, just so smooth , creamy and delicious. Great choice of flavours. We had triple scoops in lovely crisp waffle cones. The mint, Dubai chocolate with pistachio, coconut, rhubarb crumble and raspberry pavlova flavours were all eaten with gusto.

We booked DB&B at the Dolfor Inn purely out of convenience rather than design as a mid point for a catch up with friends. Little did we know that we would stumble across a little gem. Arriving in darkness, we didn’t appreciate until the morning what a beautiful part of Mid Wales we were in. We were shown to our room which was beautifully appointed and had the 2 most important elements. A great shower and a comfy bed. Dinner was served in the restaurant and we all chose something different. I went for Cullen skink and the pork loin, both so very tasty. What we all agreed on though was the dauphenoise potatoes. What an absolute treat they were!!! We then shared a dessert and another bottle of the reasonably priced Merlot and retired to the cosy bar where the fire was lit. It was so great to sit and relax in the welcoming surroundings. Chatting to George, Steve & Sue the hosts really highlighted what they are trying to create at the Dolfor Inn, and we think they’re going a great job. After a blissful nights sleep, we then devoured our breakfast which was the cherry on top of a first class experience. Again attention to detail, selection of continental and cooked options and service was spot on. However the sausages deserve their own mention!!! Thank you so much for a fantastic stay. We will be back.
