Mock timber frame manor house retaining much of its character and charm. No lifts. Breakfast was choose your own pre-packed cereals with a cooked option. Dinner was a mini-taster with delicious options which we watched cooked on TV cameras. The room was clean but dated with an en-suit crammed in. High windows restricted light and views of extensive gardens and river. The staff were friendly and willing but lacked service training. Guests our age do not wish to be called 'you guys'.

We booked for a meal on Tuesday , oh my word wish i hadn't bothered , they sent out toasted bread and butter it was burnt , then they sent out what can only be likened to 'Gravey ' with sun flower seed on the top , the starter , soup was very thick and cold on a plate not in a bowl , the ' pate' wow it was mush , the main my husband ordered lamb , it came with one carrot and a piece of onion , i had the fish which came on top of peas and turnip chuncks covered in what tasted like curry sauce , for desert we ordered Cheescake , that was the never cheesecake i'm sorry but i will not be back the whole meal was very disappointing which is why i never finished any of the food served to me . The best part of the visit was the surroundings

Had such a great evening here with the 14 course tasting menu. The staff were great and each course explained, we had two meat options, one pescatarian option and one veggie option and nothing disappointed. The grounds and building itself very cosy , comfortable and stylish, the food was top notch and all made for a great night, We will return.

We stayed at the Caer Beris hotel on a Sunday night, when the only food on offer for an evening meal was a roast. This in itself was disappointing, but the meal itself was very poor. To make matters worse it was served in their function room, which is a souless room for dinner, with limited numbers dining. There is clearly an issue with the kitchen, and we know they are short of chefs, but previous reviews which describe the food as 'fantastic' and 'superb' are no longer applicable. The waiting staff were however great, but that doesn't make up for very poor food.

I booked this hotel for one night at the end of a break away in North Wales, but within minutes of checking into our room we were so impressed that we booked a second night there. We had the four poster room initially which was stunning and huge and had amazing views across the river. We had to move to a slightly smaller room for the second night which was also stunning. Breakfast was wonderful and the beautiful room we ate in added to the whole experience. The staff are so welcoming and couldn't be more helpful. They made sure our room move was quick and seamless. There is such a calm unhurried yet professional feeling in the Manor. The Manor and its grounds have the wow factor and we can't wait to go back.

We had a delightful evening at Caer Beris Manor to celebrate our wedding anniversary whilst visiting the local area. We were lucky enough to secure a table on the evening of their reopening after lockdown so were the first to experience the newly refurbished hotel and the revamped menu. The decor is wonderfully eccentric encompassing everything from William Morris prints, an ultra modern appero area overlooking the grounds and a montagnyard mural outside on the terrace. The staff were all delightful. We arrived early and were offered drinks in the conservatory. Omar went out of his way to make us feel welcome and even had a special anniversary dessert prepared for us which was a lovely gesture. The highlight was however the food. It was a concise menu full of locally sourced produce put together in some really interesting combinations. I had an eel en croute to start and a beef fillet with miso as a main course and both were excellent. The prices are high (particularly for the local area) but the quality justified the price. We couldn’t have asked for a better evening to emerge from lockdown!

Some of the best food I’ve had in a long time. The a la carte menu included roast duck and lamb that were cooked to perfection. The starters and sweets were beautifully presented and delicious. They have an Italian set menu on Thursdays. We had crab linguine and veal Milanese followed by lemoncello sorbet and tiramisu which were wonderfully cooked. Keep hold of this chef. He’s a real treasure. The dining room is atmospheric and comfortable.

Have ate here a few times and had a drink. The grounds are beautiful but the hotel started to look tired and the food ok but a bit overpriced however since being taken over by new owners a year or so ago they have really poured their heart into it. The decor is beautiful, elegant and yet cosy. This is in the restaurant and communal areas as we only eat here as stay at the cabins over the bridge. We went Wednesday evening and the food was so tasty and delicious. We also were lucky to get 20% off so very good value. This hotel has really upped its game and would definitely recommend

The home made bread rolls with lashings of butter has put afew pound on me. Love the fact their pastry chef is so very talented with all the bakery sides. I asked the waitress to explain the vegetarian options to me and she didn’t seem to know anything about them. I asked if the gnocchi was boiled or pan fried. I was informed it was pan fried. It wasn’t!My Husband said he had never had a fillet steak like it -this was not a compliment. The mushroom was soggy and for a fillet steak it was a strange shape not the usual round fat steak.

Spontanously popped in for a cup of tea after a walk along the river, and was tempted to try the lamb from the dinner menu. To be clear, the quality of the meat was great, and it was wonderfully cooked, served with seasonal vegetables. The taste was pure and fresh, as lamb should be. No taste was hidden, but rather highlighted by the rich juices in which it was prepared. The vegetables were a pleasant surprise, with perfectly steamed broccoli, cauliflower and squash. Unfortunately, the interior does not affect the experience in a positive way. One can see that effort has been put down, but the spaces seem somewhat tacky without actually doing justice to the amazing mansion the restaurant is set in. It was a clear autumn evening with a wondeful moon, yet all windows and glass ceilings in the restaurant/glasspavilion was covered by blinds. What an amazing experience it would have been to be able to see it. Another small detail; having been served such a wonderful meal, I regret the waiter not asking me whether I would like anything to drink but water (red wine would have done justice to the lamb). Having thought about it myself halfway through the meal was a bit too late. However, the staff were caring without disturbing. One of the more pricy areas around town, so a bit more relaxing music and care for the interior would make it much more worth the money.

I have travelled throughout the world and the very best welcome I have ever had was recently at The Caer Beris. Mr Frank Wilson, the new manager, is absolutely brilliant, so very thoughtful and incredibly professional. He truly customised our evening and graciously introduced our friends to the new owner, who has transformed the hotel into a first class destination. From the impressive front gates, down the majestic drive through the most breath-taking scenery and into the loveliest entrance - the whole experience of arrival is second to none! The personalised hospitality of the manager, with his delightful sense of humour, really impressed our friends! Mr Wilson had thoughtfully reserved the most beautiful table for us over looking the river. He even pointed out how the door could be opened to hear the river and enjoy the terrace. We were expertly guided through our fabulous dining experience and all the staff were so attentive. Matthew, a fantastic Michelin trained chef, created the most magnificent dishes! Seriously, we had the most incredible evening and will cherish such remarkable memories. I cannot praise the manager enough, along with the owner, for creating such a grande hotel in every sense. Main course of belly pork was delicious. Tender with a crispy outter accompanied with a mustard mash which really worked. Duck main was also very well executed with complementing flavours throughout the dish. Desserts of a stunning non chocolate tart was Michelin quality with perfect flavour combinations in the accompanying frozen chocolate shortbread which was so very delicious. This is a perfect place to go with a group of friends as the lounges provide space to sit and chat before and after the meal. The dining room was roomy for a fairly large group. We had chosen a limited 3 course menu with 3 options for each course. I enjoyed my soup, but found my fish rather dry and vegetables uninteresting. But it was my dessert that let the whole thing down. I was really looking forward to my Baileys Cheesecake so was shocked when presented with a plate of crumbs toped with a dollop of ice cream and a couple of squirts of what assume was cheesecake mixture. No Baileys as far as I could taste. I did protest to the waitress that this wasn’t a cheesecake, so I hope my comment got back to the chef. It was an enjoyable evening but more to do with the company and surroundings than the food.

Each course was expertly described and as delicious as it sounded. Breakfast the following morning met the same high standard (although the coffee could have been a tad stronger but just our personal taste).Having spent a day out exploring and being disappointed with Lunch we decided to dine in the brassiere. Again the food and service surpassed expectations. All in all one not to be missed. We will try and get back in the summer.

A delicious meal with fine wines. Followed by disco dancing which helped the dinner go down well! The menu was well-balanced with sorbets to prepare the palate for the most delicious duck main course.

The food at Caer Beris is simply brilliant. A very talented chef. It's not just the a la carte food but the Sunday roast and the breakfast too. In fact, the eggs benedict were the best I have ever had! It's backed up by Luke and the team knowing the menu and wine should there be any questions.

We stayed for a weekend and had the 7 course taster menu. We enjoyed the food so much we ate in the hotel the second night. Waiting staff excellent also.

Just had an extremely pleasant stay at this hotel for two nights. We thought that the food, service and general ambiance were absolutely outstanding. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive and the hotel has a refreshingly relaxed and informal but professional atmosphere. A very dog - friendly and personable place to stay in an extraordinarily beautiful building and setting.

Recently we stopped for a meal here as it looked grand and we anticipated some fine fare! Our welcome was pleasant enough and we were shown to a table. Service was quite quick and certainly friendly enough but there again it was quiet, we didn't really see many other folk around. Grounds are lovely and the hotel is full of character and history. Beyond that the food was decidedly uninspiring, taste was OK, portions and presentation were small and almost featureless respectively, as if the chef could not be bothered, to add insult to injury the two courses we consumed followed by a drink were very overpriced. My advice would be to avoid until they realise they must offer some value for money rather than go through the motions and overcharge!!

I have tried tasting menus before and to be honest I would prefer a well cooked 3 course meal. Some of the courses were excellent (starter and cheese board), some looked fabulous (pudding was stunning but I could not find much flavour) and some missed the goal entirely (apple sorbet was a great pallete cleanser but with sweet granola was more like a pud). We enjoyed ourselves and service was lovely but I would not do it again.

35 of us were staying at the hotel for the weekend. The dinners we had were beautifully cooked and even for our "gala dinner" we were not overfaced, but it was all delicious.

The potions were small and the vegetables very al dente. I would recommend you stick with chips. They did go out of their way to make me a special sorbet. Staff very attentive and charming.

The service is absolutely lovely and the surroundings beautiful but the food portions small, and not special enough to justify a reasonably high price point. We all left hungry. The chef needs to swallow his pride and serve a little more. £77 for one main course for 2 adults with kids eating off the kids' menu is poor value unless excellent. Which it wasn't at all.

We have been visiting The Drover's for around 25 years. As a full Family initially, now just the two of us. Peter and his Team never disappoint. The welcome is always friendly and we do enjoy a modest pre Lunch drink in the cosy snug out the back. The views of the river are spectacular. It was a bit chilly to be sitting outside on the balcony but one brave chap did take his coffee out there! The food, well, you can't call it 'just Sunday Lunch! It's a foodie treat! Plenty of beautifully cooked food. Always hot and tasty. The quality is certainly there as well. Cannot fault anything and the Sweets are to die for! The atmosphere is invariably pleasant. A good mixture of Walkers, Holiday makers and Locals. Thanks so much for everything over the years Peter. We're already in the process of booking next year's trip to Wales, so keep an eye out for an email soon!

Our first time here this morning. From the minute we walked in we was welcomed and seated. All staff were welcoming. Myself and fiancé ordered a full English, food was lovely not one fault and clear plates. I had a cappuccino which was tasty and perfect. We were approached and asked if everything was okay during our meal. We paid with cash and left a tip as we were very pleased. We will definitely be attending again on our next stay.

Great place to stay. A friend and I cycled to the area and stayed here overnight. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. The room is a generous size with all the facilities you would want, and you have access to an outside deck area with lounge chairs and table which is ideal on a sunny day. The breakfast was also lovely. The location was great as it’s a 5 min walk from 2 good pubs and a post office/shop

The Globe hosted a charity event for #bemorefrank (09.11.24) and were the most amazing hosts and venue. Mary, lead the organisation and was open to all of our ideas and accommodating to everything we wanted to achieve that evening. All the staff worked so hard on the night with the vast numbers that came through the door and made the event run as smoothly as can be. Having two floors really allows flexibility plus the outside area (weather allowing) created the best setting for our charity event. Five stars to The Globe!!.
