The Old Railway Line Garden Centre in Powys

If you've got an hour or more to kill, this can be a relaxing place to visit. Even the little one enjoy this time of year with both animatronic displays on reindeer and polar bears along with real donkeys, alpacas, and couple of goats to add to the festive atmosphere for all. The main restaurant has a good selection of homemade cakes and coffee to help you batter the cold away. Enjoy 😉

Wonderful choice of all types of plants, and pots, it's got a great restaurant and cafe with home cooked meals. It has a farm shop that is well stocked...(but never enough of the gorgeous large plain pork pies) And an extensive range of garden furniture and accessories. Great day out! Wow, ten out of ten for the Christmas display this year 2024 it was better than ever!

Without doubt the most festive place I've ever visited. We stopped in on a weekend break in the area, it was incredibly busy and the staff should be commended A. For keeping the car park and traffic flowing and B. Being such an incredibly lovely vibe. Special mention to chap giving cider samples and the wonderful elf giving out short bread in the que. Amazing place ❤️

We sat outside and had a glorious hot choc and a custard slice yummy. I went inside and discovered a very large restaurant lots of things to buy for Christmas and other days for the garden etc.. Only downfall I couldn't find my way out .

As a regular user my experience is normally very good, however my experience today of the main restaurant was extremely disappointing. I accept when busy one may have to queue but that gives you an opportunity to watch the service. Staff walking up and down doing nothing walking past tables that need clearing, but no clearly blinkered staff just ignoring them, at one point I counted 8 tables that needed clearing whilst people could have been seated and served. To be in the queue whilst staff stand talking to each other having a good laugh whilst customers are waiting to be allowed in does not reflect well. One member of staff in the hour we were there, never served anyone and just talked to other members of staff entering and leaving the kitchen empty handed. I was so close to challenging her as it was so annoying I could name her but consider that this is not the appropriate place to do so. It took 30 minutes to produce an ice cream sundae, appreciate waiting if it was hot food but come on. The final straw was when I cleared our table walked to the serving area with the tray of dirty crockery for 2 members of staff to ignore me and walk past me, I put the tray on the serving area and it took 10 minutes before anyone considered it should be taken into the kitchen. I could put further negative comments on this review. The staff should be given strong words of advice regarding customer care and someone should train them to carry out their duties far more efficiently. I know a lot of customers today were far from satisfied with the service today. I left very disgruntled. Hopefully my comments will be taken on board and taken that I'm trying to be constructive.

Popped in for lunch on Saturday. Absolutely packed. Played hunt the car park space and eventually found one. The garden centre and restaurant were full up so we abandoned our visit. Went back on Monday and it was very quiet. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch in the restaurant, highly recommend the Beacons Bake and the Curry. All the Christmas stuff was on display and looked very festive. In all, a well presented establishment with friendly staff. Well worth a visit and without doubt the best garden centre in the area in my humble opinion.

Good farm shop and a nice selection of pots. Mid November visit and it's 🎄Christmas on a stick!!! Yes, this place likes Christmas 🎄 numerous tableaus around the place (seals and polar bears, sleigh ride, horse drawn carriage and a big brown bear! All great fun) Great customer service. Lovely looking restaurant, quite busy, and a lovely coffee shop as well, where we enjoyed coffee and black forest gateau hot chocolate. 😊

The Christmas decorations did not disappoint!!!!!! Felt as though I was in the North Pole absolutely loved it, it has everything you could ever want. Will definitely be going again !!!!!!

Best we have been to, purchased various plant's and other items, joined their club, they keep you updated on what's going on and offers, great place for tea, coffee and food. They are about to undertake a refurbishment and they have decorated the store for Christmas, it is really good and some of items are brilliant, put two for ourselves, go and enjoy, we also had breakfast, which is served upto 11:30 am, which is really good and the restaurant is a very good size, go and try and see everything, you will not be disappointed ☝️👌👍🙏🤗

Good covid precautions in place. This place has memories for us as it was where the old Railway was and a close relative used to work here and also lived locally. A nice reasonably priced breakfast in the cafe. We also nanaged to get what we came for.

Garden Centre is a fantastic place to visit, especially during Halloween. They set up amazing decorations and have a haunted room that adds excitement and thrills for all visitors. The place itself is beautiful and well-maintained, offering a wide variety of plants to suit every taste, from common houseplants to rare species for gardening enthusiasts. Additionally, there’s a wonderful farm shop where you can buy fresh produce and local products. If you're looking for a spot to relax and get inspired, Garden Centre is definitely worth a visit!

Brilliant garden centre with lots to see and do. Had a breakfast at the restaurant which was delicious. Met the goats, donkeys and alpacas. Browsed in the farm and Christmas shops and bought lots of goodies. The Christmas village was absolutely fantastic, must have taken such a long time to put together. The site is quite large but well signposted. Staff are friendly and helpful. The site is dog friendly in many places so met some lovely pooches. New favourite!!

This is an outstanding Garden Centre that stocks high quality products, ok so some prices can be a little on the high side but you get what you pay for. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is clean and sells excellent food. We travel from Hereford to get there and I can tell you it's well worth the trip

Very overpriced £7.99 for a small bowl of cheesy chips, ciabatta was expensive and lacking. Waiting Staff need to be a bit more amiable, counter staff very pleasant. Otherwise garden centre is lovely.

I'd give this purely on Christmas decorations 😆 I've never seen such a large collection. A large well stocked garden centre, farm shop and gift shop. Dog friendly.

Great Sunday afternoon outing with the family. Very tidy place, staff very polite and helpful. Beautiful displays to get you in the festive spirit forChristmas, great Halloween themed section too. They have a tea room and a restaurant both were extremely packed. Toilets and disabled toilets were fully stocked and nice and clean. Huge selection of fresh food, frozen food, biscuits, sweets, jams, chutney, eggs, crackers etc. Nice area of clothing with weird fish, Braeburn, trespass etc. Loved the pet section especially Sammy the parrot! Good selection of food wet and dry , treats, toys, grooming and clothing for our fur babies. They also had an aquatic section beautifully laid out. Excellent plants , from trees, succulents , bedding plants, ferns, bulbs, banana plants etc. Water feature section is beautiful. So much to see , a must visit place. The Sunday roast is very popular we was told and taste like homemade cooking. My parents have been before and said the parsnip and apple soup is delicious. Sadly today it was pea and mint so mum bit disappointed. Has a fairly good size carpark but disabled was full, not many disabled spaces however there is an area where you can drop off disabled users as dad did for mum today. Definitely be visiting again, dogs are allowed on leads but not allowed to walk in carpet section area.( small dogs can carry ). Excellent place to visit .

Lovely place and good food. Excellent service and helpful staff We visit this place everytime we stay in Brecon just love it and there Christmas shop is out of this world. My hubby always has a job to get me out as so much to see. Next exciting show in there will be Halloween can't wait.

We visit the railway garden centre every two month or so from Swansea it’s a lovely drive it takes around 1hr 15 mins. We always enjoy the variety of goods and plants for sale. Lovely seasonal flower displays. Lunch in the restaurant is a delight all food we have tried has been excellent with great service. Fish and chips being our favourites. All plants we have purchased have thrived in our garden, and knowing all plants purchased are guaranteed will give you peace of mind as they can be expensive. Peter & Gill

Always a pleasure to visit here. The small tea room at the rear has been refurbished after a few years closed and is pleasant although 3.59 for a 330ml bottle of coke is a bit steep tbh. Quality plants and plenty of varied sections to look at.

We called in whilst on holiday.for a coffee. There were.only 2.or 3 tables taken and there was a rope across so we presumed the café was closed. However they have a.bizarre ritual whereby you are interrogated by a member of staff before being allowed to enter and allocated a table. You are also given a.number for the table even though you have to order and pay at the.counter. The coffee and cake were excellent but it is.not a.comfortable experience. Where we come from is one of the biggest garden centres in the country with a huge restaurant where they manage to cope with customers just walking in and deciding where they want to sit!

'Queen Victoria' ordered Sunday. Plant arrived Tuesday in first class condition. BIG shout out for fantastic customer care. Thank you. Can't wait to see the 'Queen' establish herself!!

Super cafe and farm shop but this place is massive and has so much for the garden at some of the best prices I have seen in a harden centre. The staff were all fantastic and really caring too.

Quality goods, decent food, a little bit expensive, but overall very good.

Alway a treat this time of the year. Restaurant busy but little coffee shop through pet shop was lovely. Yummy cake and hot coffee. Christmas decor really spectacular.

Somewhat disappointed with the breakfast, although well presented, the bacon and sausage were overcooked and cold. On hindsight I should have raised this issue and taken it back so that the matter could be resolved. However I was taken back at the price of two small bottles of coke which cost over £6.50.

Nice enough , didn't find much from any other garden center but all was really well looked after and set out beautifully. Inside is a bit twee and over visually merched and over stocked. If it hasn't sold in a year , it's taking up valuable retail space. Super lovely staff

Honestly, a fortune must have been spent on this place since it's inception. Too commercial for us now and the prices for everything seem astonishing to us. However, if you want a warm welcome and a plant in tip top condition, this is your venue. Be warned... One toasted sandwich (two slices of bread, a slice of cheese, one lettuce leaf and half a tomato) was £8.99. perhaps we should get out more!

Stopped off for lunch. Great award winning garden centre with a large cafe, smaller dog-friendly cafe and sandwich bar on the car park. Food is exceptional and the staff are organised, hard working and helpful. Wish I could visit more often instead of just passing through.

Visited this amazing restaurant today for afternoon tea, Unbelievably delicious, You get to chose what fresh sandwiches you want made plus pick your own cakes from the patisserie, Ample tea and coffee plus plenty of fresh fruit, One of the best afternoon tea ever.

I/ we, rarely leave reviews on websites but feel compelled to do so on this occasion. We happened to call into the garden centre at Bronllys whilst passing through on our return journey from holiday. The food and drink in the café is excellent 👌 with very friendly staff and there'sa great range of plants and all manner of other things available. However, the best part of our visit was meeting and talking to an EXTREMELY helpful and HIGHLY knowledgeable member of the garden team, whose name is Jay. His friendly and helpful approach made us feel completely at ease and totally comfortable in being able to ask for him for advice and guidance on plant selections and also how to propagate some of our existing plants at home. Jay is an amazing ambassador for Bronllys garden centre and no doubt a highly valued member of the team. Every garden centre and nursery in the UK should have a Jay working for them. Perhaps he could be propagated and cloned and then shared. A massive thank you Jay as we are now following you advice and guidance. N.B. Bronllys OWNERS/ management. This employee is an EXEMPLARY example of how anyone could and should be in their place of employment and indeed in life generally. You should be VERY proud and honoured to have him working alongside you. Many thanks for a great visit overall. We will return and we will hopefully get to speak to meet an speak to Jay again. Amazing service. Ordered a rambling rose which arrived in great condition ( beautifully packed by Don!) It's an excellent specimen and we are really pleased with the service.

Our 49th Anniversary cancelled due to major car engine failure..kind neighbours invited us join them on drive to ORL for breakfast. We usually lunch there, the lasagne is best for miles. The colours and displays were magnificent, the staff are friendliest and although sad we weren't eating in Tenby Harbour the ORL was a wonderful consolation surprise😂

Great brunch at a very reasonable price.

This is a super garden centre that deserves its many accolades. Set in various sections within the building itself, there is so much variety of plants and shrubs, an excellent restaurant, a large selection of garden equipment and furniture, an aquatic centre, a farm shop and a sprawling department type store. There is ample parking available. The best part of all is the outstandingly friendly and helpful staff. They are accessible and knowledgeable, and nothing is too much trouble for them, Everyone we met had a smile on their face, so it was a delight to shop there. Well done 👏👏👏

Always a beautiful place to visit, with very creative displays for every season. The cafe serves great meals and has a gorgeous array of scrumptious cakes. All the staff in both the garden centre and cafes are helpful and polite, and go out of their way to help.

A great place to find all you could ever want for home or garden.

Our beloved tortoiseshell cat, Emma, passed away on 1 June. We bury our cats at home. I then buy a cat figure that looks as close to each to put on the grave with a picture. I thought I would never find a tortoiseshell cat figure but I did, advertised by this company !! To be honest, I dreaded dealing with goods coming from China etc. It was just so refreshing to find a British company that sold British. And what matters equally, it wasn't cheap rubbish. It is superbly made and looks exactly like Emma. I had excellent communication from the company. I felt my needs were listened to and I, as a customer, was cared for . In this day and age of fast technology, lack of communication with each other any more, it was wonderful to deal with a family business who put work and people first. Thank you so much. I highly recommend this company.

Nice selection of plants at a reasonable price. Cream scone in the coffee shop is delicious and worth a visit on it's own

We had a full English breakfast and it was excellent 🤩 the café is on the 1st floor in the middle of a shop. Surrounded by linen offerings and clothing we had a nice time. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We can only recommend the café. 🤗
