Restaurant staff need desperately to be better trained, 1 girl serving- taking orders, cutting cake, making coffee and taking it to customers on her own. 5 or 6 other staff wandering around with one job, i.e. seating, probing food, clearing. No one jumped on a till when busy or cleared a plate after seating someone. Your customer service here needs a drastic re think.

I absolutely love visiting the Old Railway Line Garden Centre, even if I’m not planning to buy anything. The atmosphere is so cozy and beautiful, and the variety of plants is truly impressive. It’s a pleasure to just stroll around and enjoy the surroundings. The centre also has a lovely little farm shop where you can find organic produce, which is a great touch. And the café is perfect for enjoying a cup of aromatic coffee while taking in the peaceful environment. It’s a wonderful place to relax and unwind – highly recommended for nature and gardening enthusiasts!

Waited 10-15m to be seated which was ok, they were a little busy but been before at busier times and not waited that long. Ordered 2 lasagnas but was then told they didn't have any left so instead opted for a turkey burger from the special menu and a gardeners brunch from the normal menu. We then were made to wait over an hour and a quarter before the meals finally arrived! My companions gardeners brunch looked dried up, the potatoes looked as if they had been reheated 3 times already, the bacon was hard and dry and the black pudding like a piece of cardboard. The turkey burger i had came with chips that were cold, oinion rings that were thin as a piece of string and soaked in grease, the worst part was a small burger bap with what can only be described as a hockey puck burger in it, very hard, burnt on one edge, and cold in the middle with what must have been the thinnest slice of brie possible melted on top. We tried to get the attention of a waitress but they were occupied cleaning tables so instead of letting it go colder and as our hubger was so intense we started to eat our meals. Afterwards we decided to forgo dessert and instead asked for the manager, after watching a woman wandering around tables with receipts and seemingly giving free food, refunds, taking food back etc for around 20 minutes she eventually went to a table next to us and quite rudely said you got a problem to which they said no and the waitress said no and pointed to us, she had a go at the waitress saying somthing about table numbers then came to me and leaning down like we were naughty children at school again rudely said you got a problem. I politley explained about the meal and how we were unhappy and asked if anything could be done about the bill or maybe a free desert or somthing (which we had already seen her do or else we wouldn't have asked) to which she very condescendingly put her hands together and asked did we not think to complain before we ate the food as she would have sent it right back to the kitchen and had another one made to which we said we didn't want to wait another hour. She said it would have been done straight away to which we said we didn't know that and were just starving having been on the road 6 hours previously then waited over an hour here. She said well it's your fault then isn't it, she said she would mention our feedback to the chef and started to walk off, I asked to speak to the owner and she sneered over her shoulder to go to the welcome desk. On finally finding the welcome desk I explained it to a manager there to which she said there's not a lot she could do other than offer a free meal or some free coffee, upset we had wasted around £40 we accepted a voucher for one free hot meal and left. We didn't bother looking round the centre as planned as the experience had put us off, I have been multiple times in the past but it was my companions first time. Neither of us will ever visit the centre again and have instead given the free voucher away.

We had at the lunch with Santa. We booked under my mum's name, and there were 9 of us in total, and we unanimously agreed that the food was amazing. However, the staff at the event were even more so. My 3 year old nephew enjoyed every second. The staff were attentive, and he had some really brilliant interactions. From harmonica playing & Santa to magic tricks, he loved it, and the adults did by default. This was our second year doing one of your Christmas events with Santa, and it was brilliant. This garden centre is amazing ! The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable, the plants are definitely selected for the local climate, I have had no issues at all with anything I have purchased. Over priced Thought we'd give the restaurant another chance, maybe our last visit was a one off? Food is expensive, again £7.99 for a handful of chips and melted cheese, Childs ½ jacket potato with cheese and beans £6.99!!!!! RIP OFF!!!! I've been cooking in restaurants and pubs for 40 years+ and this is not value for money.

Hard to write this as the garden centre itself is lovely and deserves five stars without question! However, everything about the restaurant is wrong, from the waiting times to the confusion to the food. Came here last week, ordered three basic meals, was told the wait would be 20-30 minutes. However the actual wait was closer to 45 minutes and when the food arrived it was average to dreadful, rock hard and clearly some the produce had been left sitting. We only eat here once a year, just to see if it has got any better, however over the past four years it has certainly got progressively worse. Even the systems in place are bizarre with well intended staff rushing about but overlapping in tasks, why aren't there dedicated personnel to specific jobs, this would make much more sense and surely would avoid the current confusion?

Even the little one enjoy this time of year with both animatronic displays on reindeer and polar bears along with real donkeys, alpacas, and couple of goats to add to the festive atmosphere for all. The main restaurant has a good selection of homemade cakes and coffee to help you batter the cold away. Enjoy 😉

Not great to be honest. I came for lunch with my friend yesterday. We ordered at the same time (which was 11.15 for lunch - so ours was probably the first order so it's not like they were stacked with lunch orders. We told the till it was the same table number but we paid separately. My food came, my friends didn't. We asked the waitress after a while and then it took an age for my friends food to come - so I'd finished mine. No apology from the waitress. They couldn't care less as the attitude was just - 'there you go' and she walked off. They also have only 2 tills and it takes ages to get a coffee - so the queue can be almost half hour just to order - this is very frustrating if you just want another coffee to go with your meal. I wouldn't recommend this place any more. It's not worth it - the food is nice when it gets to you but last time we had Sunday Lunch there it was an hour wait from ordering - which isn't good enough. The wait is just too long, forgotten orders, staff who don't have the decency to interact courteously with their customers and it's very pricey compared to other places. Very poor.

As a regular user my experience is normally very good, however my experience today of the main restaurant was extremely disappointing. I accept when busy one may have to queue but that gives you an opportunity to watch the service. Staff walking up and down doing nothing walking past tables that need clearing, but no clearly blinkered staff just ignoring them, at one point I counted 8 tables that needed clearing whilst people could have been seated and served. To be in the queue whilst staff stand talking to each other having a good laugh whilst customers are waiting to be allowed in does not reflect well. One member of staff in the hour we were there, never served anyone and just talked to other members of staff entering and leaving the kitchen empty handed. I was so close to challenging her as it was so annoying I could name her but consider that this is not the appropriate place to do so. It took 30 minutes to produce an ice cream sundae, appreciate waiting if it was hot food but come on. The final straw was when I cleared our table walked to the serving area with the tray of dirty crockery for 2 members of staff to ignore me and walk past me, I put the tray on the serving area and it took 10 minutes before anyone considered it should be taken into the kitchen. I could put further negative comments on this review. The staff should be given strong words of advice regarding customer care and someone should train them to carry out their duties far more efficiently. I know a lot of customers today were far from satisfied with the service today. I left very disgruntled. Hopefully my comments will be taken on board and taken that I'm trying to be constructive.

Great Sunday afternoon outing with the family. Very tidy place, staff very polite and helpful. Beautiful displays to get you in the festive spirit forChristmas, great Halloween themed section too. They have a tea room and a restaurant both were extremely packed. Toilets and disabled toilets were fully stocked and nice and clean. Huge selection of fresh food, frozen food, biscuits, sweets, jams, chutney, eggs, crackers etc. Nice area of clothing with weird fish, Braeburn, trespass etc. Loved the pet section especially Sammy the parrot! Good selection of food wet and dry , treats, toys, grooming and clothing for our fur babies. They also had an aquatic section beautifully laid out. Excellent plants , from trees, succulents , bedding plants, ferns, bulbs, banana plants etc. Water feature section is beautiful. So much to see , a must visit place. The Sunday roast is very popular we was told and taste like homemade cooking. My parents have been before and said the parsnip and apple soup is delicious. Sadly today it was pea and mint so mum bit disappointed. Has a fairly good size carpark but disabled was full, not many disabled spaces however there is an area where you can drop off disabled users as dad did for mum today. Definitely be visiting again, dogs are allowed on leads but not allowed to walk in carpet section area.( small dogs can carry ). Excellent place to visit .

We called in whilst on holiday.for a coffee. There were.only 2.or 3 tables taken and there was a rope across so we presumed the café was closed. You are also given a.number for the table even though you have to order and pay at the.counter. The coffee and cake were excellent but it is.not a.comfortable experience. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the center's expansive and beautifully diverse array of plants, flowers, and shrubs. Along with genuine smiles from staff who had a genuine desire to make our visit as enjoyable as possible! Nestled amidst the lush greenery and vibrant blooms of the Garden Centre is a charming restaurant which it seems has quickly become a local favourite, it offered a delightful menu of specialty coffee, expertly-crafted cakes, and other irresistible treats. The farm shop has a lovely rustic-chic ambiance that makes it a joy to linger and browse. Cozy wooden shelves, chalkboard signage, and plentiful samples which created a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Lovely pub and nice people. Sadly we were disappointed with the food but, being British, didn’t say anything so didn’t give the place chance to rectify. Our fault. It wasn’t terrible and the portion sizes were huge but the meat wasn’t the best. Given the other reviews on here I’d like to think we just caught the chef on a bad day but it was a shame as we’d been waiting to eat there all week (we arrived earlier in the week to find the pub closed until Thursday).
