Initially we did have to hunt out someone to serve us , once served food came quickly and hubbys was fine, he had Scampi & big fat chips I had Caesar chicken on flat bread .
The chicken was a bit sparce but bacon was lovely and crispy, lettuce was on its way out lump and uninteresting and hardly visible.
It also came with 3 big chunks of very strong Parmesan so that made up for lack of chicken.
I meant to order without flatbread but hubby enjoyed my flatbread with his chips ( he made a new style of chip butty )
Coffee was nice as always and all in all
Not that bad at all hubby enjoyed his however I won't be ordering my choice again anytime soon. It is all Trial & error as we have had quite a few breakfasts & lunches in this Tesco cafe and usually all good . Today just wasn’t my day but hubby happy so that’s a👍
First time visit from recommendations, as a place to visit on our trip round the Lowlands. Can’t fault the food & service we received at the table; top notch indeed! I rated this review on the low side as we’d only been in the restaurant for 5 mins where we witnessed some very unprofessional behaviour from the staff member behind the till (sadly didn’t see name badge) to the lovely lady who took us to our seat (named Maria); she like us, we’re taken aback by her manner. Definitely not what you would expect to see or hear in front of customers. If Caulders do any Customer Service training then perhaps this member of should attend! The other staff we had contact with were professional & provided great service. Overall a pleasant visit but no rush to return.
Partner and I were staying at Sunnyside Lodges, Sanquhar (06.01.2025) and ordered x2 meals for "home delivery" from here. No complaints - food arrived quickly and was fresh an hot. Totally enjoyed the meals we chose.
We stayed for 2 nights in April, as we arrived the 1st thing we liked was the beautiful location very quiet with a large lawn with benches at the side.
Parked the car and looked for the entrance, was a bit baffled as the door which we realised must be the way in could have had a welcome or entrance sign above it as it wasn't very inviting.
The reception desk is also the bar dinning area, which as our stay unfolded we thought could be planned out a bit different ,people checking in or out as you where eating your meal, strange ,and as it's got rooms either side, could be a better set up,
The 2 meals we had were both lovely, fish was beautiful, and the chicken curry perfect for my taste.
The room. Was very clean.
Shower came hot eventually and was a bit in and out ,hot then warm then hot again . Bathroom clean .
Good size double room. Tea,coffee biscuits.
The owner was very hands on and the staff all nice.Nice stop off on our jny further north.
We visited The Steamboat for the 1st time on 3rd May 2025, what a lovely place to visit with stunning views over the solway firth. The service and food was fantastic.
Thoroughly enjoyed fish and chips and burger and chips with a beer and a glass on wine. Very friendly and helpful staff. Ate outside overlooking the harbour on the sunniest evening of the year so far, fabulous!

This is where Google's rating system falls down. 4 stars= like, 5 stars = love. I more than liked it, not quite loved it, so 4½ stars for "enjoyed"?
Anyway, service was excellent. Everyone very friendly and helpful. It was busy too which is always a good sign.
I had the chicken liver paté which was smooth and delicious served with a little too much onion chutney and a combination of oat cakes and soft fresh bread, which was a little unusual but good.
Main course was a bold combination of scallops, haggis, creamy smoked haddock and pressed new potatoes. It was delicious but the haggis was very strong and peppery so if you weren't careful the delicate flavour of the beautifully prepared scallops could have been lost.
I also suspect they could save a small fortune by using at least half the pea shoots for garnish than they do.
That all sounds very critical but I honestly enjoyed it very much. Even the house red was very nice, rich and smooth.
Thank you
We stopped here for an afternoon cup of tea and cake , both of which were extremely nice . The staff here were friendly, and we were made to feel very welcome.

The food was great best I’ve tasted in a while. Not recommended for people with disabilities. Very difficult to get to restaurant and toilet facilities not good. View from restaurant fantastic. Service was top class
