We stayed for 2 nights in April, as we arrived the 1st thing we liked was the beautiful location very quiet with a large lawn with benches at the side. Parked the car and looked for the entrance, was a bit baffled as the door which we realised must be the way in could have had a welcome or entrance sign above it as it wasn't very inviting. The reception desk is also the bar dinning area, which as our stay unfolded we thought could be planned out a bit different ,people checking in or out as you where eating your meal, strange ,and as it's got rooms either side, could be a better set up, The 2 meals we had were both lovely, fish was beautiful, and the chicken curry perfect for my taste. The room. Was very clean. Shower came hot eventually and was a bit in and out ,hot then warm then hot again . Bathroom clean . Good size double room. Tea,coffee biscuits. The owner was very hands on and the staff all nice.Nice stop off on our jny further north.

We recently dinner at Ernespie House Hotel as the restaurant is open to non-residents. We had called ahead, but it was a quiet midweek evening in Feb and they welcome walk-ins too. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. The Mussaman curry was a standout dish, with perfectly cooked rice. The unedited modern country music wasn't quite to our taste, the occasional expletive in the songs was a bit jarring to the atmosphere, but we still enjoyed our meals. The hotel itself seems lovely, and it's clear they take pride in their food. We'd definitely return for another meal, we'll probably go and try their afternoon tea next.

From the minute I booked my room at the Ernespie House Hotel, I knew I was in good hands. I received a welcome email from the owners (something I've never experienced before). My room was clean and comfortable with a hospitality tray, dinner (home made curry) was absolutely delicious, the breakfasts were wonderful and the staff were extremely friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. I needed a taxi from the hotel to Dumfries station and this was organised for me. I spent the hour or so before I departed working in the comfy entrance lounge and every single member of staff I met was uniformly friendly and helpful. I cannot recommend this lovely hotel highly enough.

Enjoyed our stay, and the staff were very welcoming, with excellent service throughout. The hotel is an older building and full of charm, set in secluded scenic grounds away from the town. The menu and food were good quality with plenty of choice.

Great location, easy walk to town. Lovely building and reception, bar, dining areas. Facilities are being upgraded, new staff, but very comfortable and lacking nothing. Staff are very friendly and helpful - couldn't fault them. We will definitely stay again.

We’ve never been to this area looking for a hotel before and so glad we did. Ernespie House is a wonderful find. Welcoming staff, beautiful rooms with all you would need and the breakfast was cooked when ordered so there’s waiting time but the wait is so worth it. We’ll be back in this area again next year and we will definitely be returning. Really lovely staff who enjoy what they do which is very evident when talking to them. Thank you to all staff who were working on the Scottish Rally weekend

The hotel is in a beautiful location with stunning views across the countryside. We were there for one night and had a junior suite. The room was nicely furnished, although more detail was required with the housekeeping. There were areas of the room that hadn't been vacuumed or dusted. The food in the restaurant was excellent with a good variety of dishes available. The currys were excellent. There was an outside seating area, which was a bit haphazard. The hotel itself required a fair bit of investment. I would certainly recommend for a meal.

My husband I had a lovely overnight stay at Ernespie. The owners and staff couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful going over and beyond what we would normally expect. Their lovely son even gave us a tour of the gardens and boy was he knowledgeable! Such a lovely young man. Food was great. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals (thai fish cake / chicken pakora starters and chicken curry for mains). We’ve been touring round Scotland and, although hotels advertise themselves as dog friendly, I’ve never been anywhere that really enjoys having our 4 legged friends until Ernespie. Alfie enjoyed off lead play in the garden and had a great time. We enjoyed our stay so much we’ve booked again for our wedding anniversary in October. Our only regret is not being able to stay on Saturday for the Indian street food festival . Looking forward to seeing you all again soon). Big thanks Phil, Denise & Alfie) xx

Delightful small and quaint hotel set in the stunning Scottish countryside. Feels so remote yet it’s just a short walk into town. Have a wonderful restaurant onsite for fabulous meals morning and evening. For dinner try the haggis appetizer. Highlight of my superb dinner. For breakfast, try the full Scottish breakfast. I liked it so much. I never tried any of the other breakfasts on the menu during my stay. Service excellent across the board. Recommend a visit. Wonderful.

I went to collect a takeaway on Sunday after 4pm. The restaurant was not busy and it was just me in there when I went to collect. I ordered chicken tikka masala, chips and a naan bread. The container was half filled with what looked like watered down sauce. I could count 6 pieces of tiny chicken and I could count the chips because the portion was so tiny. The naan bread was soggy and seemed like it had been microwaved. By the way the photo was everything on the plate bar the naan bread, and no I haven't half eaten it. I'm sorry but how is that good value for £13.75?

Went for the Sunday buffet, service area quite crammed and staff pushing in and out when helping children is quite unprofessional, our kids are over 12 years so paid adult price which is fine but definitely need to look at juice prices being the same as an alcoholic drink

Having heard that the restaurant was taken over sometime last year, I went to try it out and it was absolutely lovely. Food hot and plentiful, and so tasty. The staff were friendly, too. Restaurant could be doing with upgrading, but won’t put me off going back! Looking forward to our next visit.
