Not local to me but had to post something at the post office... and they are in the same place. A portion of Portavogie scampi for just £2.29 yes that is what I paid! Delicious and great value. No brainer really.
Dropped into 2nd Avenue Café today while waiting for my car to be fixed nearby, and I’m so glad I did! The staff were incredibly friendly, and the café had a warm, welcoming vibe that made it feel like a real community cafe.
I went for the all-day breakfast, and it was just what I needed—really tasty and filling. The cappuccino was spot on too. I couldn’t leave without grabbing a rocky road for 'the road', and it was delicious!
If you’re ever in the area, I’d recommend stopping by.

The restaurant name is now PACHA. The staff are nice and friendly 5*, there is a single shared toilet which is clean though needs check from time to time as water pooling on the floor maybe from costumers drying hand 4*. The place is clean, nice view from window and close to Donard free carpark. I like the way you choose where you want to sit 5*. We dont wait too long for our food and all taste really good and steak cooked to doneness we ordered them. Chips and pepper sauce also taste good. 5*. Price of the food is not too expensive but not average either if you think of the taste, good service and and the location. We can recommend this and we will come back again.
A bijou ice cream and coffee cafe along Kilkeel Main Street. Its really cosy with comfy seating. The folks serving are delightful.
Kilkeel is a small village in the Mourne mountains on the Co Down coast with a fishing fleet. It has two fish producer organisations on the small harbour but I don't know why one isn't enough and I suppose I don't much care, I just noticed it.
The cafe sells delicious Mauds ice cream and it's simply better than any other ice cream I've ever had - so there - ya can keep yer Häagan Dazs and Gerry & Ben. Clarke's too and as for Baskin Robbins - well no thank you very much.
Mauds has been in the Ice Cream age now for over 40 years. I've been eating delicious Pooh Bear (honeycomb & vanilla) and my wife mint choc chip all that time. One medium Pooh one small (which isn't small) mint both cones £4.35.
What's their secret, as well as taking for granted top notch premium ingredients is the one ingredient never ever on any label Overrun. Mauds doesn't have it.
See what you can find from your ice provider of choice as most large scale manufactured ice cream is made up of 30% - 50% air content on average, so you may not have noticed that you are being ripped off.
As well as paying for air, the cheap ice - cream makers also treat you to nonfat milk solids, corn syrup solids, mono and diglycerides, cellulose gum, guar gum, carrageenan, artificial colour, and artificial flavour. All to inflate their profit margins. Yum yum?
Its not often that you get someone who actually does care about the food he puts out... Mr D really does. Its his own business so its not some employee that couldnt care less. I do highly recommend the burgers but to be quite honest everything is good.
This is one of our all time favourite spots to go to for breakfast, brunch, lunch or coffee and buns.
The entire menu (we've sampled it all 🤣) is delicious and every so often there'll be a new addition to keep things interesting - hash browns with avocado, feta cheese and hot honey were a big hit with me. You can really tell time and effort has gone into creating a menu that has something for everyone.
The quality of the food is so good and everything is obviously cooked fresh and such care is taken in presentation. Proper thick cut bacon that isn't full of salt, thick meaty sausages, the freshest eggs and salads, really well filled sandwiches and the nicest skinny garlic fries. Oh, and if you happen to be there around Christmas, the festive loaded fries are the best around. For the standard and the amount of food you get, the prices are VERY reasonable - if you go for lunch you definitely won't need to make a dinner that evening.
Lastly, the staff are lovely. Nothing is ever too much trouble and you always get a friendly welcome and a chat. They'll even remember the kinds of things you usually like and give recommendations.
Highly recommended.
Great restaurant. Homemade dishes, and they're excellent! The boxty, a typical pancake, is super good. Children's menu, with a wide selection. And the waitress is smiling, friendly, and super nice.
