Nice enough wee place, the mains were a bit hit or miss. The seafood boxty was nice according to some members I'd went with but would definitely recommend avoiding the chicken boxty

seafood boxty was decent and i enjoyed it but felt like it could use a tad more flavour. that said, service was exceptional! so welcoming and so friendly. i wasn't feeling too hungry that day and the waiter was kind enough to let me just order a main rather than a two-course, even though they weren't priced individually. thank you

I took my partner to Holohans for her birthday. It is a busy place, which can only mean it is very popular! The food is great, and a Christmas menu is on offer. The service was excellent, and there was one young male server who was just so polite with everything he asked or had to tell us! We had a fantastic night, and I highly recommend it.

What an absolute gem or a restaurant! We were greeted with such warmth and hospitality and given a choice of tables, by the best staff you could hope for!! The food was delicious - we went for the two course set menu. Simple food made perfectly with love and attention to detail. I had the beef pie, my wife the veggie Christmas and we both said it was possibly the best food we’ve eaten. Pudding was amazing and a great choice of drinks. A perfect evening in a perfect restaurant. Thanks to all who made it so memorable.

We arrived at this restaurant by pure chance, but it was one of those surprises that brighten the day. From the beginning, the attention was exceptional. The owner, with genuine kindness, made us feel at home and was kind enough to recommend the most authentic dishes in the area, moving us away from the typical fish and chips that are usually the easy option. Thanks to their suggestions, we were able to enjoy unique and traditional flavors that we would hardly have discovered on our own. Additionally, he not only cared about our dining experience, but also gave us great recommendations for places to visit off the beaten path, which made our visit to the area even more special. The welcoming atmosphere and dedication to the customer make this place a place to which we will undoubtedly return. If you are looking for something authentic, delicious and with friendly service, this restaurant is a must-stop. Highly recommended!

The beef pie was excellent and so did the stew. The toffee cake is a little bit sweeter for us but it was still delicious. Servers there were very friendly and caring.

Delightful and authentic Irish cookery with astute and friendly service. I found the portion size for pie a bit small with only a mashed potato accompaniment, however, it was delicious so I’ll not fault it.

Visited Holohan's at the recommendation of our hotelier as it was close and offered a menu we were unlikely to find anywhere else (a modern take on Irish dishes). They had some vegetarian options (one having sold out as we were one of the last table sittings) but the remaining dish was VERY good. The owner and staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was very cozy which served well on the chilly October night we visited.

We visited this location on a Tuesday night. We were seated quickly and the dinner started off wonderfully. There were 3 servers working. I didn't get their names... But a guy who was at the bar, a lady with red hair and one with brown. We originally had the brown hair waitress, but all 3 were working the upstairs and downstairs. The food was adequate. The service from the guy and the red hair was wonderful. However, the brown hair waitress seemed extremely distracted. The issue came at the end of dinner when we requested our check. We asked the brown hair waitress (as she passed by our table). Because she never checked on us at all after she brought our starter. She had been having a lengthy conversation with another table. Needless to say she never brought the check, 29 minutes later, after routinely signaling her and saying excuse me and being completely ignored. While she had a conversation with the 2 people at the table this whole time, and the red hair waitress was dashing everywhere and the guy was bringing drinks from the bar. We asked the red haired waitress as she bustled by with arms fukknif food for our check. We had the bar tender guy bring our check and apologize for the delay. I honestly got up and left as my husband paid, and still the brown haired waitress was talking to the table... We'll over 30 minutes, while the 2 other people were dealing with the whole restaurant. When we'd been seated, there was a table near us discussing how they hadn't been able to get their check and we could tell they were agitated about it. If only we knew it was a foreshadowing. This made our whole experience very unfavorable... And the only reason I'm giving service anything over a 1 rating... Is because the other staff were busting their a33 to cover the whole restaurant and they deserve a positive rating!

Poor portion sizes (ordered beef boxty - £17.50). The staff couldn’t split a bill either at the till and I ended up paying way more for my food as I wasn’t drinking alcohol. Such a shame.

Went to Holohan's tonight for a pretheatre meal. The food was delicious and reasonably priced and the service from Janine and Abby was second to none. Attentive and friendly but not intrusive. Thank you for giving us a great experience. We will definitely be back

Worth a stop if you’re traveling through Belfast!! I had no expectations and was blown away. I was passing through Belfast while on a road trip, and decided to give this place a try and they could accommodate walk ins. I’m surprised this place is not more busy because the food is amazing! I tried the sweet cure bacon chop, and my partner tried the handmade pie of the day (chicken and leek). Highly highly recommend the bacon chop. It was tender with a slightly sweet crust, it paired very well with the sauce. The pie was also fantastic, but of the two dishes, the chop was the clear winner. My biggest disappointment was not having stayed in Belfast longer as I would have loved to explore their menu more

Lovely place for a traditional grub

Excellent friendly service and homely atmosphere. Food was good, Irish fair. I enjoyed the sea food bottle after reading various reviews on here. Just though pricing was a wee bit high. Otherwise it would have been 5 🌟

Went here when travelling solo. Had 3 courses and every course was fantastic. Couldn't fault anything. In particular though the Irish stew was phenomenonal

Lovely food and people but I did have a seat next to the kitchen door which was very loud and squeaky that I found infuriating and it interrupted my conversation multiple times. I did ask to move but sadly we couldn't. When the restaurant filled up it was a bit better but plleeaaasseee put some oil on the door so it doesn't ruin other people's experience.

We went on Sunday for lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary, my husband ordered roast of the day and I went for cod GL version, taste was lovely,good presentation, however, the size of the fish was unbelievable! I didn't get even 50gr of fish, 4 potatoes for 18£ that was all I had, very disappointed , not food value for money ( you can see on the photo how small was the fish).Service a bit slow, although we were ready to order, tried calling staff attention, it took 15min to someone takes our order. Again food was lovely but the amount of fish really upset me.

We had such a great time at Holohan’s Pantry! Special thanks to Calvin—he was so friendly and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed. The food was fantastic, with generous portion sizes and flavours that really stood out. The cocktails were perfectly crafted, and you could tell a lot of thought and care went into everything, which made the experience even better. The cosy, laid-back atmosphere added to the charm, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed evening out. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Holohans has a wonderful relaxed atmosphere, partly down to the music and decor, mostly down to the staff. The food itself was a highlight of my trip to Belfast, particularly the smoked chicken starter. This is food cooked perfectly and with care.

Wow!! This was my favorite meal in Belfast. Had the soup of the day (leek & potato) and the pie of the day (pork with sage) and it was delightful! I left my plates clean and with a full stomach because I loved the food so much. Sadly was too full for dessert but the menu looked delicious. Paired it with a glass of sauvignon blanc. The servers were so kind and attentive as well. Such a lovely restaurant with great food, I highly recommend!

Really wanted to like it more than I did but was ultimately disappointed. Fish boxty arrived suspiciously quickly. It was lukewarm and seemed like it had been sitting in the kitchen for quite some time. It didn't taste fresh. Also there are no beers on draught which added to the disappointment.

Ate here on a whim with a party of 8 on our visit from the US. Top notch family friendly service including a little potty in the bathroom for our toddler to use! We tried the boxties and loved them. Our waitress was outstanding and made us feel right at home with our two little kids. The Irish stew was the best I’ve ever had.

We came for a dinner without reservation, and place was full, but waiter helped us to find a table, thanks for that! Food was very delicious, especially main dish - stewed meat in Irish pancake, highly recommend! We also tried whisky marinaded salmon, looked fantastic, tasted more like regular salted salmon 😊 but still good!

Such a lovely place with a lovely service. Came in for lunch and immediately got a warm welcome, a table and bottle of water. The host was lovely and very helpful in choosing the dishes. I had the daily soup ( broccoli with fennel seeds ) that was hearty and tasty, served with one of those cake’y brown breads and butter. Delish. Then i got their seafood boxty. It is their irish version of a crepe ( made from potatoes ) with seafood filling that was basically a stewed chowder. The pancake was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the filling was good and balanced between heaviness of cream and fish to the lighter dill and lemon. Importantly, these were served with seasonal veg ( green beens cauliflower, carrot, kale ) that were lightly steamed and kept their crunch and texture. Really good. Finished with a coffee. What a lovely spot.

My wife and I both had our best meals in Ireland so far here. Meals, desserts and drinks were all excellent. No issues with food, staff or facilities. Highly recommend. We had reservations and they may be required not sure on that.

First time here. Lovely relaxing place. Food obviously cooked fresh so was a bit of a wait but well worth it. I had seafood boxty which was a delight and really filling. My son the roast and my wife short rib. Both said best meals for many years. Had to stop them booking for next week before we left. Great value.

Amazing food; in the city for a concert and wanted something special; these guys didn’t disappoint, great food and service….first class!! We’ll be back when next in town.

Great food and drink, we had the catch of the day and the seafood boxty. The boxty's are great but very filling, we had sticky toffee pudding afterwards and an irish coffee each, we had excellent soup to start. Jade was great who served us.

After arriving in Belfast and unpacking, I immediately stopped by for dinner at this local Irish restaurant that I had found in advance in Korea. I walked in, but luckily there was one seat left. My friend and I each ordered an appetizer and a main dish to share. I heard it was made at a brewery in Northern Ireland, so the beer I tried was a savory and clean lager. The appetizer wasn't very impressive, but the main dish really shined and I was very satisfied until the finish. It was a fun time with a generous amount of comfortable dishes and reasonable prices. BREAD BOARD Three types of bread are served along with oil and butter, and they say they make all the bread themselves. As the bread was ordered separately, it was not cold or dry and had a smoky flavor and a good texture on the outside. •EWINGS SMOKED SALMON Smoked salmon and Irish mashed potatoes were placed alternately, and dill sour cream was placed underneath. The taste was predictable for a combination that was so familiar, and the amount of salmon left something to be desired. SWEET CURED BACON CHOP Pork chops topped with mustard sauce, garnished with Savoy cabbage and mashed potatoes are provided. The lean texture of the pork chop is very soft, so it looks like wet-aged meat was grilled. The scaffolding and the meat are tightly attached and do not separate well, so you can feel the chewy and lean texture at the same time. In the case of pork chop, it gets greasy quickly when it cools, but the sauce covers it to prevent this. •HOLOHANS PAN BOXTY Boxty is almost similar to Irish potato pancakes and Korean potato pancakes. The style here is to put mushroom cream with chicken in the boxty and then fold it in half to give it a crepe feel. The potato pancake itself is light and simple, but it is full of mushroom cream, giving it a strong overall taste. It went well with beer, so I could eat it, but my friend, who doesn't drink beer, said it was greasy. •STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING It's like a date palm pudding or castella with a jujube scent, so I think it'll suit the tastes of the elderly. The caramel-like sauce underneath is very sticky and goes well with vanilla ice cream. •CHOCOLATE BROWNIE The chocolate brownie was not much different from the date pudding, but was a bit more dense and chewy. This isn't caramel, but melted chocolate, and it's incredibly sweet.

I was in Belfast about a week ago and the food was ok the chicken nuggets were a bit dry if you are in Belfast and wanting some where to eat I would recommend going to Holohans Pantry and the hotel I would recommend would be The Grand Central Hotel in Belfast holly molly ! What a hotel that it is a 5 star hotel

Unfortunately, I experienced food poisoning at this establishment so will not be returning. Ordered the chicken boxty and was very ill which unfortunately ruined my trip to Belfast visiting family.

When we arrived it was quite busy with a bustling, friendly atmosphere. The restaurant looks like a beautiful old house, with wood panellings and floors. After accompanying us to our table, Gene explained the menu and recommended us an amazing red Italian wine to go with our food. We ended up ordering Catch of the day and the Seafood Boxty. Both were generous portions and really really good. It was my friend's and my first time trying Irish food and we were quite impressed. Finished with a Sticky toffee pudding that absolutely hit the spot, not overly sweet. All in all an amazing dinner and lovely evening, with a special shout out for the great service
