Ginger Bistro in Belfast

It takes something very special for me to write a review, but I just could not keep this place a secret! Have dined here several times in the past and it has always been excellent but this was the first in a long time and I had forgotten just how good it is! We were a party of 7 and we all agreed the food was outstanding and certainly up there with the best we have ever had anywhere. Definitely the best in Belfast if not NI! Staff and service excellent also.

Then staff were very welcoming and accommodating and the food was superb. No complaints whatsoever !

Truly sublime. Choice of dishes excellent. Taste and presentation of meals mouthwatering and hot, the way I like it. Service was quick and efficient. Staff happy at work making the experience all the more enjoyable. Can see how this restaurant has maintained its position as one of the best in Belfast.

I had been to this restaurant maybe ten years ago and it was good then. I’m pleased to say that it was just as good when I visited this week. The food was maybe the best food we had had in this trip to Belfast. I had a chicken salad starter. Followed by sea bass, then a sticky toffee pudding. There were lots of things on the menu I would like to try. Staff were friendly and relaxed. Definitely visit again.

Have had the pleasure of eating here on many occasions since our first visit nine years ago. Food is consistently excellent, and staff are very attentive and friendly. One concern is that we feel that the menu has not evolved / changed in the past year to 18 months - a minor point but may deter us from visiting as often unless things change.

I recently ate at The Ginger Bistro and really enjoyed our meal. The food was great and reasonably priced for the quality. We also had a nice cocktail and a lovely bottle of Albarino as recommended by our wonderful waiter Ronan. Ronan was really good fun, knowledgeable and made our evening even better. I would recommend The Ginger Bistro highly.

Was our first time in Ginger last nite & it definitely wont be our last. The food was delicious.. such a lovely happy relaxed vibe , staff so helpful. Top notch all round! Great drinks menu too, cocktails are beaut & its really good value for money all round! Cant wait to go back :)

We just celebrated my Wife’s 40th birthday in Ginger on Sat evening with a small group of friends. They were very helpful with all of the arrangements. The service was great and we enjoyed the staff’s good sense of humour. The food was excellent.

Highly recommend this for the warm Irish welcome, great food, good wine and great atmosphere

Maybe I chose the wrong thing, but I wasn't impressed by the slow cooked beef. The sauce was too thin and a bit sharp for my taste. It was my first visit and I expected a lot, given the prices. Cocktail was nice, as was dessert. I won't rush back, but perhaps I will try again in the future and order something different

Landed in Belfast last night and we walked past The Ginger Bistro the menu and warm decor lured us in. Boy were we glad we did! From start to finish the guys made us feel welcome and we had some great chats. The food was absolutely amazing and they were playing some absolute classics from the bar. Can't recommend The Ginger Bistro highly enough.

Las únicas sugerencias de mejoras que haría serían sillas más cómodas (¡son de madera y una de nuestra fiesta tiene un mal respaldo! ) y quizás una mejor ventilación de la cocina ya que notamos que nuestra ropa olía a cocina mucho después de salir!

Absolutely wonderful experience. Food, atmosphere and the staff were excellent. A big shout out to Matt and Kali who looked after us so very well. My partner is recovering from an operation and Matt and Kali went above and beyond to help her and make her feel comfortable. Fantastic experience and highly recommended. Thank you guys 🙏

My husband and I spent a long time choosing this restaurant. We like their food very much because we can feel that they put great care into making it. I really like the olives with bread, they are very appetizing, delicious and special. The beef was cooked well and the cheesy mashed potatoes were creamy. The price is not expensive and it is worth it.

Great menu choice & we had a fabulous meal. Staff looked really happy and it was a lovely relaxing atmosphere. Our server Lucy was so pleasant and friendly. Hoping to get back again soon.

Only wish we didn’t get so full from all the amazing food and cocktails and had room for desert. Excellent selections and delicious dishes. The fresh and tasty ingredients made our time at Ginger Bistro delightful. We had Espresso Martinis, the ginger squid, cauliflower, French onion soup, risotto, and more.

An incredible meal! The sea bass especially was exceptional. The vedge was perfectly cooked, the sauce was light and balanced, and the fish was beautiful.

Food is amazing everytime we go, the Squid is just insane 🤩 The creme brulee also is fantastically made very much enjoyed it. This place never lets me and my family down, however it is always noisy af 😂 but by no means that bad, can also forget about you (not that long but still) its happened only a few times versus every other time we’ve been.

Ginger bistro has a great menu and the food was superb. Very friendly and welcoming staff and the vibe was lovely.

Yummy cuisine, fabulous, cocktails, fun staff, but super noisy environment. i’d go back in a heartbeat! I wanted to try everything on the menu.

Whole new level of friendly and fun staff! The menu is great and the food fabulous. There were four of us all ordering different items. Everything came out perfectly. I only wish we had another night in Belfast to dine there again!

Beautiful food (the salmon and crab starter and the goats cheese risotto I can highly recommend) and truly excellent service. Looking forward to going back.

We had a group of 6 and the service was first class, very attentive and for a change when arriving with the meals didn’t ask who ordered what just put them in the right place 👍🏻 The tiger prawn starter was beautiful I could have ate loads The mains everyone enjoyed theirs a lot Only minor complaint was the fat chips were soggy, craft beer was excellent

Nice outlay, should be as higher end restaurant for Belfast. Cocktails very good, small measures but tasty. Non alcoholic cocktails are fantastic, again small measures. Service was great from waitress, overhead a call regarding turning tables, which isn’t the nicest thing to hear when you’re sitting down to eat…. Squid which apparently is a “ always available “ was rubbery, and the steak also from the premium menu came well over cooked Overall nice staff; good starters and good drinks. Special menu left a lot to be desired however, and @ £130 for 2 at before 5pm, lot better value eating/experience in Belfast Flagged the steak mentioned I take to the dog , still charged it…. Dog was happy! Wouldn’t rush back, starters and staff added extra scores Update. Had to cut steak for the dog 🤣🤣

The place was just too noisy to enjoy a meal. Food was great, but my tummy was upset right after that 🤕 sore head and upset tummy! I will not recommend this place.

First time to Belfast and reserved here after looking at the menu and reading reviews. It was all good I have to say. I had the cod - large, meaty and the skin crispy as it should be. The feather blade cut was well received as was the gravy accompanying it. I loved my sticky toffee pudding, portion was just right and the sauce not sickeningly sweet. The creme brulee was creamy indeed when a lovely crack to the top. The choc mousse just needed something different to the texture to lift it, like a tuille or shortbread maybe. Service was attentive and spot on. Loved the art work up for sale too. The meal deal value is an excellent way to access the menu. We had a mix of starter and dessert and mains and dessert. A great concept indeed!

Food and service were excellent. Even as a non fish lover I can say that their squid starter was delicious. All staff were friendly and interactive, I will definitely be back. Value for money, good quality and service top notch.

Myself and partner went here for dinner and they did not disappoint. I opted for the Risotto which was packed with flavour even when it was vegetable based , I thought the rocket on it didn't go well but that was easily removed off the top and personal preference ! My partner got the featherbed of beef which was delicious couldn't fault at all it fell apart , the desserts we got sticky toffee pudding and the chocolate mouse , again it was top notch , highly recommend going. Environment was very loud was the only thing but that was due to large numbers around us

My wife & I visited here on our wedding anniversary when we ‘popped’ across to Belfast for the day. I had read the reviews which were very good so booked a table for 4.30 pm so we could then fly honey later. Very welcoming staff from the start and a busy bustling place which got busier as time moved on. Staff were lovely and attentive, ordering the delicious food from the extensive menu with a few stable mains/starters always available. The french onion soup was incredibly moreish as was the squid starter my wife enjoyed. Our steak and beef feather-blade mains were wonderful followed by deserts which completed a wonderful meal/day! We would recommend Ginger Bistro to all. Keenly priced with really good quality food etc.

We really enjoy our occasional long, long (slightly liquid) lunches here. Hence the higher price pp. Back again July '24! Food and drink great... craic even better! A grand spot.

Terrible and over priced the portions were so small I was still starving when I was finished Not alone did I pay a fortune I had to go to the chip shop on the way home

Visited here on Saturday night during a four night stay in Belfast. Returning visit after we enjoyed it so much last year! Did not disappoint. Friendly relaxed staff, great atmosphere and great choice of food. You can eat as much or little as you like with their flexible menu catering for all tastes. Everything we had was delicious and perfectly cooked.

We've had quite a few meals here and it never disappoints. My friend from Wales loves Ginger so we always make a point of going when she's over, she's vegetarian and there's plenty of choice. The food is amazing, incredibly tasty and great value for money, the staff are friendly and chatty, and the service is exceptional. We can't wait to come back again.

A great place to eat, the food was delicious and the staff very friendly and welcoming. Daisy made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Would thoroughly recommend a visit here. Also loved the simple pricing options

Although there were some good points about this restaurant we were very disappointed with our experience having dinner there. One of us ordered loin of pork from the menu - when it arrived it was overcooked gammon. When we pointed this out to the staff member he was rude, talked over us and was totally dismissive of the point we were trying to make. Therefore, we have two suggestions for this restaurant: 1. Treat your customers with respect and listen to any concerns that they have. 2. Make it clear on the menu that "loin of pork" is actually gammon!

Great service and even better food!

Right before our flight, we finally had an excellent food experience at The Ginger Bistro. Food is fresh and recipes are creative and tasy, vegan options included! Perfect spot between the Crown pub and the Ulster Museum. The design is contemporary and cozy and waiters are extremely kind and welcoming. 5/5! ❤️🇮🇹

Fantastic staff throughout. The food was excellent. Its menu is simple in that there’s a deal for starter / main / desert in all those combos with various pricing. The severs are attentive and helpful. 100% would recommend . I had featherblade beef which was exceptional , my wife had the chicken with dauphinois potatoes. Both amazing.

Serving quality food in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, Ginger Bistro, located just a short walk from the Grand Opera House, is an excellent city centre pre-theatre venue. We called in for a long overdue visit, and had a fabulous meal. With its long-standing relationship with local suppliers, Ginger Bistro uses top quality ingredients to create a seasonal menu whilst retaining lots of its customer favourites. To start, we had some terrific “Fancy Drinks”; a zingy Ginger Martini, and classics are also available-the Negroni was top notch! To start, we had a dish of succulent Fried Tiger Prawns on a Carrot & Fennel Salad, with Pineapple Salsa and a Soy & Pickled Ginger Dressing, and a tangy Pear, Walnut & Young Buck Blue Cheese Tart with Celeriac Remoulade, Watercress & Apple. Our main courses were also superb; a Roast Fillet of Cod, with Peas and Leeks in a White Wine Cream, packed with Orzo, Prawns, and sprinkled with Gremolata, and Fillet of Seabass with Broccoli on a Red Pepper & Tomato Salsa with hints of Basil, Almonds, and some Baby Roast Potatoes. And the accompanying Cauliflower Fritters with Truffle Oil Mayo were a golden, crunchy delight. With delicious food complemented by a bottle of Cuatro Rayas Verdejo which paired perfectly with the seafood dishes, this was a brilliant meal in this popular, well established city centre gem.

We came here for lunch. The food was great! We had the pork belly which came with fried rice, sea bass, battered cauliflower (these are dense), and Cesar salad. We were full and could not try dessert. Recommend

Very centrally located Restaurant on great Victoria street which is really two parts which is the more basic bar area dining and then further in the restaurant dining with two rooms and a much nicer interior. The bar dining area is rather sterile. There is a selection of 2/3 course priced meals for dinner. Food is very good. The tempura prawns with a salad will be a bit too much garlic and ginger in it,was good. Had an Asian twist to it. Mains of cod was excellent again with orzo pasta and small of prawns. When was good priced wine and warm and attentive service.

We had a last minute dinner here are were super impressed. I had the feather blade steak, friend had sea bass and wife had an amazing French onion soup that was better than ones we had in Bordeaux recently. Super friendly and prompt service - just overall a great experience.

My family and I visited on a Saturday night in March and ordered a combination of starters, mains and deserts. All six of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal, which was delicious from start to finish. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ginger Bistro to friends and family, and would certainly return when visiting Belfast in future.

Called in on the off-chance after reading reviews on a visit to Belfast for my wife's triple 20th birthday. Managed to get a table for 5, so glad we did, amazing food, fine dining without the price tag. Simply superb...

Absolutely loved this place. Nice laid back atmosphere and amazing food. The portions are just right, not stupidly large, which meant we could manage 3 courses which is a definite bonus when the food is this good. Nice place, bit pricey. Squid starter is good but they bulk it up with lettuce so not worth £12. Steak was okay but nothing special.

Had the most lovely dinner here. The staff are all lovely and the food is wonderful. Would highly recommend and so pleased we booked for our short stay in Belfast. Every course was spot on.

Was worth every penny. Fine dining at a reasonable price. Service was friendly with a side of funny. And the dessert has left us with no more wants in this world. Only downside was not many ginger employees which we were looking forward to.

Fab food and drinks, the place never fails

Lovely restaurant which is actually much bigger than it looks from the outside. A varied menu with something for everyone. The beef blade with mash was beautiful it just melted in your mouth. Maybe a little more veg wouldn’t have gone a miss. My cheese tart starter was tasty and a great portion size. Lovely atmosphere would recommend you give it a try. There is a fixed price menu 3 courses for around £45 each, a 10% tip is automatically added to your bill. Wine list was varied and reasonably priced.

All the reviews are right about this place. We visited during our city break and couldn’t fault the food, everything we ate was delicious and the service was great too. One of the waiters who brought our mains was a little rude when we couldn’t hear the meals he was saying which made us a little uncomfortable but the other servers were brilliant and it didn’t change our thoughts about this place, it’s great!
