What a great restaurant ! The staff are so friendly, the food was magnificent, and the place is not pretentious in the least. We would definitely recommend a visit to The Muddlers Club

Down a little alley, hidden away in Belfast Cathedral quarter is a gem of a restaurant you must try. We had the tasting menu (i believe that this is all they offer) but it’s worth every penny. I had a vegan menu and every course (6) was so delicious but the consume was off the scale. This is fine dining on another level.

Exceptional. As a solo diner, I was made to feel like I had company by the really attentive and friendly front of house, especially by Thomas who was my main waiter for the evening. Comfortable and unpretentious, familiar and hospitable. The food was excellent and the courses well paced. Wine pairings were great. The cheese course is a must! The value for money is great as this is definitely at the lower end of cost for Michelin star dining.

This is a Michelin star restaurant, the tasting menu is advertised at 90E's, so I'm not sure why people complain about the price. When we booked we let them know that we don't eat red meat and this was catered for. We started with an amuse bouche, excellent bread, butter & olive oil then two starters, one crab, one vegetarian, 2 fish courses for main and 2 desserts. Every plate was delicious and worth its Michelin star. Service was excellent from Isobel and Martha, they knew their wines and were just lovely, we ordered a bottle rather than take the wine pairing option. As the evening progressed the music from the kitchen got a little louder which we loved. It was interesting watching the kitchen team work tirelessly and seemingly effortlessly. Muddler's is a well oiled machine worthy of its Michelin rating.

The Muddlers Club is a Michelin star restaurant in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter in Belfast. We have been wanting to go here for so long and finally had a good excuse to visit! The wait was definitely worth it 😁 The Muddlers Club impressively have a full vegan tasting menu. This was a spread of multiple dishes, with each one being as delicious as the next. We spoke to the servers and found that all the ingredients are sourced locally from an organic farm in NI. This farm only supplies the high end restaurants in Belfast and having tasted the produce I can see why. Each dish was based heavily around local ingredients which was even more impressive as their chefs weren't hiding behind fake meats or protein sources like Tofu, Tempeh or Seitan. This really meant the vegetables could be the star of each dish and with the marinades and perfect preparation, they really did steal the show. The service was excellent, getting a perfect blend between professionalism but also adding a human touch. I will absolute come back here as soon as I possibly can. Well worth the money and an absolute must for foodies in Belfast 😋

Went here for a birthday celebration. The food was fantastic. Some of us don’t eat fish so we swapped out to the veg option when needed and that was no issue. Definitely worth a visit if looking a wee treat for yourself as it’s obviously pricey. Hubby had the meat/fish option, I opted for the vegan version. Every course was amazing. Staff brought out each course and were very knowledgeable of the ingredients. The place itself is a lot smaller than expected, which allows the staff to be attentive.

At long last, a visit to the Muddler’s Club and it was worth the wait. Starting with a seat at the bar, we began with a recommendation from the cocktail menu, delicious & expertly made. The meal was their tasting menu and was truly a journey from strength to strength….everything was delivered elegantly, deliberately, with intense flavour, inventive textures and superlative service. Highlights were the burrata starter with tomato flavours evocative of Provence, and the monkfish main with a prawn bisque worth its weight in gold. Every dish, from the pre meal snack to the final dessert, included perfectly arrayed and prepared ingredients…with accurate and sublime flavours, this menu was designed and prepared by a chef and brigade at the top of their game. A return to the Muddler’s Club is now a necessity…thank you especially to our server Thomas who helped to make the evening superb!

Don’t go if you’re in a rush: This place is an experience to be savored slowly, and they treat it as such. I was especially impressed by their flexibility in accommodating my allergy. They changed nearly every dish for me, were very solicitous, and everything was still delicious. Also, great cocktails and wines. If we had this place in Brooklyn, we’d go once a month.

We made a reservation for the first day we arrived in Belfast and went to this place, We encountered an excellent quality of service from the moment we entered the restaurant to the moment we left. We tried the tasting menu and encountered multiple factors to influence each course. We really had a very different tasting experience in terms of food. We felt the taste of the dessert we ate change in our mouth even as we ate it, and the way these two tastes went together was wonderful. We had equally great experiences with cocktails and were definitely not disappointed in almost anything we tried. It was a very nice experience in terms of service, each course that arrived was explained in detail and great attention was paid to each one, including special cutlery. Everyone showed incredible interest, especially Isabelle, who helped us have a really good time and increased the quality of our experience with the attention she showed us. Despite certain sensitivities and allergies we showed regarding the food, they adapted the menu accordingly and presented it to us. There was a really elite and retro atmosphere about the atmosphere, this interior design created a very sweet contrast with the light music coming from the background. It was a quality place that met the expectations expected from a Michelin star place. Even though the prices are high due to its quality, we definitely recommend it as a place to try when you come to Belfast.

Dined here solo On a Saturday night. There were all two other solo tables and with views of the kitchen, can be quite entertaining. Long room with little interior deco- industrial style With an open kitchen and low Lighting The noise levels can get quite high with the lack of soft furnishings Wood tables and wood chairs. Tables are generally low with bronze light lamp on the table Great cocktail- coconut margaritas were excellent as was the chilli caiparinia. Bread In two form: slides sour dough and a ball was Ok. The pork butter was interesting as was the good oil for dip The trio of amouse bouche was goods and the best was the like the sea trout tartlet The first starters: Torched scallops with broth and half peas with pea shoots- broth was too sweet made from the pure onion consommé. If it had an extra sugar would suggest reduction. Second starter: Creamed burrata with a pesto sweet sauce with nuts and crispy bread and heritage tomatoes, really worked well as it was creamy, sweet and sour from the tomatoes and a really delight of a dish. First main: Halibut with horse radish and beu blanc, fish wa dry Courgette buttons and asparagus heads Second mains: Salted beef about 30g with a leaf of wild garlic over , a new potato which was boiled and a stalk of asparagus and a small beet root. The beef looked pink but was overdone to be medium tare. The whole dish looked great but was a let down by taste as When all components came to gather it didn’t wow. Pre desert: Rhubarb with peppercorn and Curd With Drink of rhubarb juice and cream On the top was Excellent. Rhubarb was rather fibrous but sweetened. The desert of Coconut cracker , Chocolate cracker , Chocolate mud and Hazelnut cream was good was both a save dish and did not wow. Niall who provided the service was excellent. Best meal I had in Belfast.

Cannot fault anything about the service or food. Everything was top notch without being overbearing or pretentious and the ambience of the venue was fantastic. The food was wonderful with each course matched with a wonderful wine. My favourite course was the venison, it melted in the mouth and the desert wine, a Gewurztraminer, was unbelievably good as well. It is however a shame to single them out as the whole food experience was so good. The same can be said for the service, for such a young set of staff, all exuded knowledge of food and wine well beyond their years and their attention to detail and service was unrivalled without being overbearing. Worth visiting the wonderful city of Belfast just to dine here!

Food was outstanding , but some of the serving staff were rude and arrogant . We had the tasting menu with wine pairing . The dishes were almost thrown down with poor explanation. The sommelier clearly had an issue with our table of four . He was rhyming off the wines from a script and laker explanation. When asked to repeat because we hadn’t heard he was visibly annoyed . The glasses were plonked down in front of us . He clearly was not having a good night with us for whatever reason but it really ruined the atmosphere and the mood . Only My champagne glass was removed by him after the first course , with half a bottle left . He was rude lacked etiquette you would expect in this standard of restaurant. I didn’t get his name as he didn’t introduce himself but when we commented to Chris who had seated us that the staff were rude he did change the service and we very much appreciated that. A great meal which was tainted by poor service .

This place holds a special place to us so was excited to get back as it is a proper treat to get here. On arrival the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. This time round we didn’t do the wine pairing as we found before it was excessive as ended up just drinking the wine not necessarily matched with the dish so we just ordered two glasses of champagne and a bottle of wine , both beautiful. We got the snacks and again they were lovely. With regard to the tasting plates I personally thought some of them lacked the standard I would expect from a Michelin star restaurant, however the quality of meat and fish is still top quality. I personally wasn’t a fan of the chicken gravy with cod combination and did say to them that the ginger dessert lacked any flavour. On this occasion my overall experience for the price paid I thought it didn’t quite live up to its reputation.

We have been lucky enough to eat at several Michelin star restaurants and every one has felt special and lived up to expectations, feeling like it was worth the expense. The muddlers club is the first of these to let us down. We were told we would be looked after by Chris but then only saw him a couple more times. Descriptions were limited or delivered in bored monotone. No one enquired about the reason for our visit ( had put 30th anniversary on booking but no mention made). The food was good but nothing we had not tasted before, no wow factor. No little extra tasters that you usual get. The ambience felt squashed and just not special. As we left it was clear everyone was keen to get the night over with, we were not walked to the door. Overall really disappointing, felt like we had been taken for granted.

We flew from the Uk especially to visit this restaurant. After reading some of the mixed reviews I can definitely say we were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed by Barry who was interested to hear why we were visiting Belfast. We were served by a number of staff throughout our meal who were all friendly and chatty. The number of serving staff certainly did not detract from the experience, quite the opposite. We were made to feel special by everybody. The food … wow!! We were a party of two, one being vegetarian. I wasn’t served the usual plates of bland vegetables - quite the opposite. It was a culinary experience of vegetables which danced across my palate through the 6 course tasting menu. Was there one highlight? No - everything was a highlight and each course was simply stunning. The open kitchen was also another highlight. It was calmly and peacefully run by the Head Chef. Everything was executed to perfection. It’s not will we return, it’s when will we return. We will most definitely back to one of our favourite cities.

Nothing beats the Muddlers Club for fine dining in Belfast and nothing bad to say. Ever. And this Friday The atmosphere is buzzing, the service attentive but not intrusive, and the wine pairings are not just spot on, but given with multiple well informed options so you feel as though the sommeliers care for your palate and not just evidencing a capacity to remember. Dishes are of exceptional quality, seasonal, artisan, delicately assembled, all the buzz words, but with none of the pretentious smeary nonsense of the wannabe brigade. This is the real thing and so deserving of its Michelin status. This review can’t do justice to the thought care and creativity that Gareth and his exceptional team bring to a diverse and colourful tasting menu, to try and capture the complementary and complex flavours by listing ingredients is beyond me, and would sound like a shopping list. Suffice to say, eight years on, it continues to be my favourite and special place - and who knew that a heritage tomato consommé could reduce a noisy table of carnivores to silence!

Wedding Anniversary Disappointing Visit… Not going to lie we are Michelin Snobs we’ve eaten all over the country as we love this dining experience… We had 3 Michelin restaurants to choose from in Belfast…did we choose the wrong one? The Muddlers isn’t laid out like other M restaurants we’ve been too… It felt over crowded and it was very noisy and dark lighting…and a table that was quite small and felt like I was just in a pub. We opted for the wine pairing with the tasting menu but you don’t actually get a menu to look at No description of starters/mains/desserts… No history of where the produce had come from… We’ve never had that before. Served by various servers so the experience just didn’t seem as personal and professional as we’ve experienced before. Food was nice and accommodated myself being Gluten intolerant however we did have a long wait between a couple of courses which made me think it was because of how busy it was. No complimentary petit fours or even that nice touch of ‘Happy Anniversary’ Not worth the money for the experience and is certainly not the same culinary Michelin experience we were hoping for.

We had an early dinner on a warm September evening .The tasting menu was perfect all courses delicious. We particularly enjoyed the creamy burrata with flavourful tomato consommé and the main course of loin of rabbit was superb. The fish cookery was faultless including scallop with girolles and XO sauce and roasted monkfish with a classic red wine reduction. The puddings were excellent although I was full after the rabbit. The day was so hot we choose to drink water and beer but fellow diners enjoyed the wine pairings. The room was comfortable with a background of contented chat and familiar rock music. The service was professional with an edge of performance which added to a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Beyond expectations, the Muddlers Club continues to delight and amaze the moneyed classes of Belfast. The six course Tasting Menu costs £90 and is worth it. Starting with sourdough and sweet, warm tomato bread, the three "snacks" feature a tiny crispy layered potato with a little caviar on board. Chicken liver parfait with cherry is served on a delicate cracker, while a crisp pastry case encases mackerel and crunchy vegetables. So far so good. Next we get a beautifully cooked scallop with tiny enoki mushrooms and an XO sauce. This is the stuff of dreams, the scallop meltingly tender and the sauce hot and savoury. Tomato and burrata arrives with a dressing of highly flavoured tomato essence. The burrata is a heavenly cloud of soft mozzarella, perfectly paired with juicy chunks of tomatoes and served at room temperature. It's this kind of detail that takes The Muddlers Club to another level. Next is monkfish served on the bone with little gem, followed by rabbit boned and served with herb stuffing, and a carrot and baby potato. It's impossible to do justice here to the quality of cooking going on in the Muddlers Club. We just sat back and let the whole experience unfold. It was a special occasion and it'll be a while before we can save our pennies to return, but it was worth it. The staff are brilliant. The sommeliers are fantastic and talk through the wine pairings with real expertise. A true asset to the Northern Irish restaurant scene, Muddlers was a pleasure from start to finish.

We found the place to be quite noisy as the space was very echoey & the music was a bit loud, the staff were all pleasant. We enjoyed the food but it was nothing special, won't be back

We have been to The Muddlers Clib at least 4 times over the past few years and are constantly amazed by the food. The quality, attention to detail, and inventiveness of the dishes never cease to amaze us. The service by the whole team is also top quality and friendly, with each course being delivered expertly, with details of the dish explained before you experience them. Looking forward to being back in October/November. I can not recommend The Muddlers Club enough! Thank you for an awesome dining experience every time!

A Michelin Star brings with it expectations - of food that tastes sublime and lifts the soul and of a dining experience, atmosphere and service that is a cut above the rest. On that basis the Muddlers Club is a Curate's egg. Some of the...

It’s been a while since we ate at The Muddlers Club. And it looks like it has developed into standards down and prices up. Food was mostly good- with the outstanding course being the rabbit. The bread was also amazing. Some dishes though didn’t hit...

This is a one Micheline star restaurant, and is well deserving. We were able to get reservations through our friend who was very persistent in checking. Our reservation was for 6 pm which seemed it was good as we were ahead of the rush. The service was exceptional. It seemed the entire restaurant was taking care of us, even though we had a main server. The food came in seven courses and we were treated to two desserts!!! Each of the courses was accompanied with a nicely paired wine, and the portions were very decent and likely more than what one would get in similar situations in the states. My favorite plate was the first appetizer and the scallops, which had a flavor I have never tasted before. But in general all other courses were super elevated and flavor above average to anything one would get around. The one thing I would suggest is that for a high end experience, there should not be a time limit, or at least that time limit should not be 2 hours. Nonetheless, this is an amazing place and an experience that has opened my eyes to realize Belfast is a culinary center with amazing potential.

Our first michelin star dining experience. It was fabulous from when you first walk in to when you leave the restaurant. The food is amazing, my husband saying the beef was the best he'd ever had. We had the 6 course tasting menu. When we return to Belfast we will definitely be back 😊

Just overpriced food for food quality which seems to belong to a hospital canteen not a restaurant.
