Can't speak highly enough of this place the food is priced well and you will not be hungry when you leave. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating and the place is very clean, would highly recommend

People here are so friendly and the food is fresh and delicious. A few minor tweaks, like the consistency of the poached eggs and toasting the bread the the BLT, otherwise perfect!

Mi primera vez aquí y la patata frita fue absolutamente genial, los huevos fueron cocinados a la perfección! El personal era muy amable y tiene un ambiente realmente acogedor. We walked by this little cafe after we had breakfast at our hotel. We decided to try it the following morning since our hotel experience was mediocre. So glad we did!! Food and service was fantastic. It is a fun, whimsical atmosphere.

We visited the Mad Hatter Cafe on Sunday morning 8th Sept 2024, it was fairly busy with alot of single people taking up seats of 4...we waited patiently for a table and was shown to a table of 4 even though there was only the 2 of us. Our order was taken although from the short wait we had, we could already see the staff were very disorganised, getting basic drinks orders mixed up and spilling milk over the floor. When it came to taking the order, the lady couldn't even find a pen that worked and flaffed about looking for a pen. We ordered Hatters Breakfast and a Pancake Breakfast and 2 milky coffees, the coffees were served first...they were luke warm... while we were waiting, 2 ladies came in, they were asked to sit at a table of 2 but they refused and took up a table of 4, they sat very close to us...while we sat waiting, a large group of 8 came in, WE were asked to move tables to accommodate this group! 40 minutes later we got our food, cold and greasy! Disappointed...we will not be back! Didn't even apologise for having to move tables...when i mentioned it when paying the bill, i was told, well you shouldn't of moved!

Called in here this morning for breakfast had the vegetarian breakfast and my other half ordered sausage and egg soda. Portions are huge and food was amazing the nicest breakfast I have had out eggs are so fresh. Will most definitely be back and trying lunch options some time definitely worth a visit staff are also very attentive and i must say know how to have good banter. 10 out of 10 for all.

I have traveled to more than 28 different countries and this was, by far, the best breakfast I have ever had. Great service and even opened their doors to my wife and I early. Highly recommend!

Couldn’t recommend highly enough, ate here 3 times over the weekend. Lovely, friendly staff, great quality food (Ulster fry and chicken toasty), and coffee top ups too. Really made us feel welcome.

Called in here early Sunday morning with my daughter. (a wee treat) We both had the Ulster fry. It was delicious.😋 Not a pick of grease in sight. We both had tea with our fry, and we were brought a large pot and two mugs, even the tea was lovely (I had 2 mugs). They obviously use the best products. I will definitely return here.😁

If looking for an Ulster Fry this must be one of the places to go. staff have always been friendly. Tables kept clean and cleared as soon as clients leave.

Visited recently for lunch. Wide variety of quality food available and good sized portions too. Friendly efficient staff make whole thing a very pleasurable experience. Check it out.

Have eaten here a few times and it has always been great. Shame about today's experience. It was very busy and took a while to be seated which was ok. We ordered our food and it took an age to come. A table beside us who arrived after we were seated were able to eat their starters and mains before we got our food. One of our orders was wrong but the guest did not wish to send it back as we had waited so long. We had asked for margarine instead of butter and we had to ask twice after receiving our food for it.

Sorry I have no photos I never thought. Anyhow this was a lovely restaurant with a great menu. The staff were lovely and they knew their regulars and what they usually ordered. I got the large fry and it was brilliant. There were sausages, bacon, bake beans, mushrooms, potato bread, tomato and other breads. It was a good big feed. I can't remember how many, I think 2 sausages and 2 slices of bacon. You also got tea or coffee or I'm sure another drink instead. They are open just before 8am. They are 2 parts to this restaurant, one side is the one I have spoken on and the other side makes sandwiches etc. Prices seemed reasonable and I enjoyed going to it.

Delicious food! Scrambled eggs and ham with tomato and toast prepared properly, hot, and nicely presented on the plate. Our server was a gracious, interesting conversationalist.

Had an Ulster fry a few times upon our stay in Belfast the food sizing was small the milkshake say made with ice cream but you can taste only syrup apart from that staff is great

Lovely breakfast, a good welcome, quick service, plenty of choice on the menu I had a healthy breakfast and they were happy to change the bacon to sausages. KV had a big Hatters breakfast. Empty plates and satisfied people. Well worth a visit.

i agree with the previous reviews great food breakfast etc, but over the past month the fries have been vile , cold plates, cold large and small fried breakfasts, they were constantly told this , food was returned to staff response after the high price of £13,50p, was when they asked how was the food , was as stated , oh we will let the coo know,?? it never improved after another 3 visits , they dont want to know ,, owners need to get to grips with the good food now total crap ,, where can you get a good fry in belfast

Very nice little off the beaten track. Nice location with some outdoor seating weather permitting. Service good but maybe a little prompt. Some time to read the menu in a new location is always welcome. The menu is good and varied plenty of vegetarian and even vegan options. Coffee and tea nice and all food and drink very well presented. Thoughtful clearing of tables too.

Great staff. Great food. Great prices. Had the Ulster Fry which was generous & not at all greasy. Co-eater had the potato stack which was a special consisting of potato bread, bacon, sausage & an egg - great value!

Unfortunately since Joanne has sold the business the fry has gone down hill. Uncooked potato bread soggy and uncooked soggy soda bread. This is a fry! The food is supposed to be fried not grilled and grilled badly. I used to finish a fry and had to leave so much on the plate. Very disappointing and until rectified I wouldn’t be returning for that.

Been a few times before but after today I won't be back sat and waited 20 minutes as other customers who came in after us there orders were taking and we were ignored would not have minded if they were busy but there was 8 people there

My partner and I came to Belfast for the first time, and found this lovely café for breakfast. On Saturday (18th) - the food and staff were lovely. I can’t fault them for anything, there was a queue and it was worth the wait. However, on Sunday (19th) - the food was average and the staff dismissive. The café was barely busy, but the waiter managed to forget our order, our cutlery, napkins and was no where to be seen. I understand in hospitality it can get busy, but this was a quiet morning and we were ignored by him multiple times. The food was average despite ordering the same thing - there was a long black hair on my plate which I had to tell a member of staff about (it happens - I didn’t want to cause a scene). My eggs were raw on top but I just ate around it on the new plate, as there was no one to report the issue to anyway. Upon paying, there was no apology issued for the lack of service and the member of staff at the till was rushing us out of the door (not due to business of the café, but more like ‘we don’t want to deal with you anymore’) We would’ve returned on our final day in Belfast (Monday) and in the future, but due to how horrible Sunday was we will never return again. It’s a shame because the Saturday service was impeccable. If you do visit this café, come on the Saturday and not Sunday - and if the young boy is your waiter, then good luck.

We ate at the Mad Hatters after reading the positive reviews and weren’t disappointed. There was a great breakfast menu. Staff were friendly and efficient. The cafe had a nice atmosphere and great breakfast menu. I had the healthy breakfast which contained 2 perfect poached eggs! Very reasonably priced. Would definitely return.

We’d flown in from Australia, our luggage stuck at Heathrow 😫 Our hotel ( up the road) fire alarm went off at 4am and then we had no hot water😩- we felt miserable on that first day in Belfast. But your hospitality shown to me and my husband that first morning was so beautiful and so needed. Thank you for a fabulous Ulster Fry and for even offering to look after us until our luggage arrived 💛💛 You’d be pleased to know the rest of our holiday was fab from that point on 💛

Visited the Mad Hatter on Monday to meet my friend for lunch whom I hadn't seen since before Covid. Was my first time at the mad hatter cafe and I was very impressed. They also provided meals for a private function for me back in August and it was really second to none. I'd have no hesitation in recommending this hidden gem.

Great place for breakfast and helpful staff. Very pleased with gluten free options. Would highly recommend. Hope to visit again soon.
