Fantastic atmosphere tried my first Irish pint of Guinness and the rumours are true it does taste so much better live Irish music playing couldn’t ask for more for a traditional Irish experience staff and all patrons friendly had security on the door making sure everyone there was the right age no drama just a great experience lots of seating indoor and out door has a rain shelter for outside and toilets where clean couldn’t ask for more. Apparently the only food they sell is Irish stew but we had already eaten before arriving but everyone recommends it and says it tastes amazing.

One of my favourite pubs in Belfast. An historic building with a cosy, traditional interior. Live music, good food and a great atmosphere. The Gents toilets are tiny and a little unpleasant, but that’s mainly due to the constraints of the original building. Lots of outdoor seating for big groups, although the weather wasn’t great at the time of our visit so we were very happy to find a table inside.

We wanted an Irish stew and popped into this place. Very popular as there were a lot of patrons. We decided to sit inside and our order was taken at the bar. Irish Stew and some ciders to wash it down. The stew was delicious, looked small but it's filling. Served with a slice of bread. Service was brilliant and polite. Felt welcomed. There was music but didn't realise it was live, there was a wee band on the other side. Such a lovely atmosphere. We stayed a bit after eating to catch one of the performances. Such a cool place to come a d chill out and enjoy live music.

UPDATED: For a bar I loved visiting so much over the years, it pains me to say this. The bar was since sold and now staff changes. A friend and I both visited recently as the bar service was terrible. Other customers shared the same view with a couple of them leaving to go to another pub (it wasnt overly busy either). The bar was flooded with staff but half of them don't seem to have a notion on what good service is or manners to carry it. Staff do not seem to have the common courtesy to note who are waiting to be served and just walk past. Even when you make eye contact to suggest you want to order, you get ignored. Im tall, so not as if I was being hidden. Was standing 15/20 minutes or even longer and then a guy who just walked up beside me gets asked for his order. I joked with him asking him if he can see me on because I worry I was invisible. The couple who were sat in front of me shared same disbelief of how bad the service was. An ignorant woman walked right up to the bar entry way and pusjed in her order, to which the barman just ignored everyone else and served her. When I finally got served, I made it my only drink to avoid going through that pain again and left. I don't want to write this bar off just yet. I hope maybe this review would lead management to tell their staff to sort it out. Many other people I've spoken to have shared the same views and experiences...

If you're looking for the best traditional pub experience in Belfast, look no further than Kelly’s Cellars. Nestled in the heart of the city, this iconic pub is one of Belfast’s oldest and most beloved establishments. Steeped in history since 1720, Kelly’s Cellars offers visitors an unforgettable blend of character, atmosphere, and authentic Irish hospitality. From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by low ceilings, open fireplaces, and a warm, friendly crowd. Live traditional Irish music fills the air most nights, adding to the pub’s unique, timeless feel. Whether you’re a tourist exploring Belfast or a local out for a pint, Kelly’s makes everyone feel like family. The drinks selection is fantastic, with perfectly poured Guinness and a wide range of Irish whiskeys and craft beers. The staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, and always up for a chat, making the experience all the more personal. For anyone wanting to experience authentic Irish pub culture in Belfast, Kelly’s Cellars is an absolute must-visit. With its rich heritage, lively atmosphere, and friendly service, it’s no wonder this pub continues to be a local and tourist favourite. Make sure to stop in for a pint and some craic!

Historic pub running for a few centuries... Great staff, friendly, old decorum and very lovely and clean. Like stepping into the past with wifi support in house. Very crowded, so getting free chair is a challenge. It is a huge pub inside and outdoor seating but it has huge followers. Only one dish on menu, beef stew. I went to try it all the way from Dublin because a British YouTuber mentioned it's the best. I asked the bus driver for his input and he said, just average. I asked a local in Belfast who said the same. They mentioned, must be the best review from an Englishman who hasn't had enough Irish experience. They were right. The stew is good but not worth long travel.. Irish home made stew is far better. The stew was thick with loads of potatoes, a bit meat.. but flavorwise just ok. It does taste better with hp sauce surprisingly..

Real Irish pub atmosphere! Kelly’s Cellar is a quaint bar with a lot of charm and history – as a taller person you sometimes even have to stoop a little. I enjoyed a fresh Guinness there and listened to the live music - young musicians played traditional Irish folk music, really authentic. Cozy inside, there are also a few places to sit outside. A real Belfast highlight – not to be missed!

I’m really disappointed with my visit at Kelly’s cellars. I went there with my boyfriend and we asked for 2 Guiness 1 non alcoholic& 1 normal one as I’m pregnant. However at the end when we got our drinks they were both alcoholic. I’ve told the girl at the bar with pink& black hair and glasses and she started being very rude& she also came over to our table and started shouting& trying to prove us wrong. At the end my boyfriend went up to the bar to get Jameson& Coke and she give us jack&Daniel’s instead just to provoke us. Her attitude was very disgusting!!

Great all-around irish pub. Great pints, staff gotta be the best bar staff in Belfast. The only reason for the four stars is because of the toilet facilities, far too small for the customer base. Hopefully, it can be improved soon. I’m really disappointed with the experience my younger brother had at this pub. He was wearing spot patches on his face for acne, something he's insecure about, when one of the staff members—who had blonde hair in a ponytail and spoke fluent Irish—stared at his face for about 20 seconds before making comments that clearly had underlying insults. It was incredibly uncomfortable for him, and it’s unacceptable that a staff member thought it was okay to treat him that way. No one should feel judged or ridiculed for something so personal when they’re out trying to enjoy their time. I really hope the management takes this seriously and ensures staff are trained to be more respectful of customers in the future
