A bijou ice cream and coffee cafe along Kilkeel Main Street. Its really cosy with comfy seating. The folks serving are delightful. Kilkeel is a small village in the Mourne mountains on the Co Down coast with a fishing fleet. It has two fish producer organisations on the small harbour but I don't know why one isn't enough and I suppose I don't much care, I just noticed it. The cafe sells delicious Mauds ice cream and it's simply better than any other ice cream I've ever had - so there - ya can keep yer Häagan Dazs and Gerry & Ben. Clarke's too and as for Baskin Robbins - well no thank you very much. Mauds has been in the Ice Cream age now for over 40 years. I've been eating delicious Pooh Bear (honeycomb & vanilla) and my wife mint choc chip all that time. One medium Pooh one small (which isn't small) mint both cones £4.35. What's their secret, as well as taking for granted top notch premium ingredients is the one ingredient never ever on any label Overrun. Mauds doesn't have it. See what you can find from your ice provider of choice as most large scale manufactured ice cream is made up of 30% - 50% air content on average, so you may not have noticed that you are being ripped off. As well as paying for air, the cheap ice - cream makers also treat you to nonfat milk solids, corn syrup solids, mono and diglycerides, cellulose gum, guar gum, carrageenan, artificial colour, and artificial flavour. All to inflate their profit margins. Yum yum?

I always try to find (online at first) a "Mauds" whenever on holiday. Mauds in Kilkeel is easily found, being on a main street - and within ten minutes walk of my hotel. Service was personable and excellent. Only two (distancing) customers allowed in at one time. Hygiene was very good. My mint ice-cream cone, with a flake, was nicely presented and tasted wonderful. (Mauds' ice-cream is consistently good). Recommended.

Called in for breakfast after having this place recommended by friends. Really friendly staff and a wide range of choices. We both really enjoyed it, good quantities and good quality. We will both be back.

During our drive from Ireland to N-Ireland this small village was our first stop after coming overseas into pound country! (actually overcoming took only 15 min by ferry). So GBP were valid to pay in this small, family owned coffee & tea shop / bar, which offered many kind of delicious ice-creams (my favorite). Beside the main road (but enough far away from street) it was funny to watch & follow how every kind of vehicles must pass by through the only road. And so narrow are those irish / british roads that I was wondering that price of land must be very expensive in island? Service was good both inside / outdoor tables.

Always visit Mauds several times when in Newcastle. Never disappointed, with quality and value. Like their Chewing Gum flavour, and honeycomb ice creams.

For two weeks, we started most mornings in Kilkeel with big, welcoming smiles and delicious, reasonably priced breakfasts from Janet and her staff at Neptune's Larder Cafe. Highly recommend this cafe for breakfast and lunch. David and Marian

Leafy Green's and Tony are a National Treasure. This man is an Artist, his cuisine is his Art. Best vegan food in Ireland. The best value side dish is Tony's humour served with a healthy dose of country banter. 😁🥰
