Fantastic food & service. We went camping in Annalong valley as a group of ten. The next morning we had breakfast the cafe in front of a roaring fire to dry us out. Just finished a 17km hike and called at the cafe after at 4.30pm. Girl gave us menus and said only coffee and tray bakes available, that's OK, that's all we want. Sat waiting outside for someone to take our order. Waited 30 minutes and left. They were too busy accommodating a large charity group.

A quaint crofters cottage in the Mourne Mountains converted to a restaurant/tearoom. This is certainly a must if you visit the Mourne Mountains. Since moving to Northern Ireland i have visited many times and always send my visitors there when they visit The Mourne Mountains. Just amazing, the inside of this little cottage is decorated in traditional style, if you are lucky enough to get a seat inside the actual cottage you will feel as if you are in a time warp! However the room they have built adjacent to it is very accommodating with windows all round and in the colder weather it had a lovely wood burning stove to welcome you. Food is of excellent quality and overseen by the owner. You also maybe lucky to see The Isle of Man on a good day. Don’t forget to take a photo of the rare breed animals as you leave.

A fabulous cafe. 5 of us had breakfast and we all had differing dietary requirements including one person was gluten AND dairy free and non meat eater. Customer service was first class - personable, efficient and accurate. Food was beautifully served and awesome to taste. A wonderful friendly cafe. Super views across the landscape. We will be back again next week. We all left very satisfied and full of praise for all aspects of service. First class. Thank you

Well what a beautiful setting and friendly staff. I had the crushed avocado with poached eggs, very good but the bread was just the run of the mill ordinary pan loaf. They should have used a sourdough which would have notched the rating even higher. I got a seat near the window which was just perfect for sampling the scenery as much as what is possible through an old stone cottage window. As I've already said that the staff were just great with a bit of banter from them. They don't take cards, cash only but I was able to pay with Revolute.....I will return.

A relative who lives down the road recommended we visit,we ended up going twice! What a spot,we went on a good day and the view around the coast was stunning, the second visit was misty and gave the view an ethereal look.Food was great,we had breakfasts both visits and the soda bread was lovely,my Daughter assured me her hot chocolate was gorgeous on a number of occasions. We ate inside and were sat by a wood burner which was lovely and intimate. We also ate outside and again had a woodburner to keep us warm. There are fields nearby with a lovely friendly cow and we were lucky enough to watch a sheepdog at work,so for Townies like us was great. The staff do a great job with the CV19 situation as it is very small inside and were attentive, even checking the fire was stoked up enough for us.I would highly recommend it.

Our family (with dog) were fortunate to get a nice table on a busy, sunny day in September. Our order was taken really quick but the food took ages to arrive (30min or more for a simple lunch) which would normally get a star taken off but the lady apologies proactively and the food also tasted great (having been to a number of similar type cafes, the food here is definitely much better but still as reasonably priced. Avocado on sour dough with poached egg is easy to get wrong (hard avocado / egg) but was cooked perfectly. View was lovely and lots of waiting staff around. In terms of some feedback for the owner, if you could speak to the Council about getting a bin in the car park - that would help (there isn't an outdoor bin anywhere near). There is a also a sign saying the toilet is closed but thankfully that isn't the case for customers - think that would be step too far and there are good hand washing facilities right next to the door to exit. Overall, a lovely lunch and visit.

We deliberately sought this cafe out after reading some good reviews and what a treat it was even on a very rainy, windy day. The soup and sandwich combo lunch followed by a traybake was delicious but what set this place apart was the welcome. The owner Rachael took the time to chat with us as if we were in her own kitchen. It was a lovely experience all round. Irish hospitality at it's best.

Stopped in here to have a drink, a cake & use the toilet before climbing up the trail up to the Blue Lough. Great little spot for fuelling up. There is plenty of seating outside with beautiful views out over the hills toward the sea. The prices aren’t too bad either. £1 for a glass of orange juice & £2 for a tray bake (oh yes they were good). You can pay on card too which is good. Just a heads up there is only one toilet so be prepared to wait your turn.

Found this wee gem on Facebook when I was searching for a pet friendly cafe on the way to Kilkeel. With 2 kids under 6 and a Jack Russell in tow, we got seated outside in the covered eating area, it was raining but we stayed dry and the log burner was on which kept us cosy. There was a good variety on the menu and toys to keep the kids entertained. We enjoyed it so much we came back 2 days later with friends. Amazing view too. Staff very friendly too. We had heard about this place from two different couples in the last week, so we thought we’d explore as lock-down is lifting, summer is running out (1 August already) and while I say summer it’s been autumn for a few weeks now, and if you don’t believe in climate change I’d have to disagree with you.So we knew that this place was half way up a mountain (in Irish terms, so not a very big mountain) very small inside and lots of seating outside. To use an expression - it’s in the middle of nowhere. So the sat nav took us through Warrenpoint, Rostrevor, Kilkeel then through Annalong then into the Mourne mountain range. I’d say we clocked up 30 miles in an endeavour to find it and we did and it was as described. So we were half way up a mountain and parked on a slope in a small crowded parking area and the place was packed with customers so it was inside seating only. It was a small old house. We sat just inside the door adjacent to the old fire place in what was likely the kitchen years ago - we have more room in our bathroom at home. We noted some of the outside tables were made from pallets so it’s a novel way to up or recycle. The food was really tasty. I opted for a bacon roll (£2.5) and for an extra quid I could change my bacon to Finneboro (see photo) as it has no nitrates and other muck that those who care more about profit than food use to ruin and cheapen it. As a bit of a foodie, just to have this choice delighted me. It’s rare to find this but give me the choice to get better quality food and i’ll take it every time thanks very much. I’ll pay the extra and smile. We both had cappuccino (£2.5) but it was a bit confusing as a menu said it was (£2.7) and a chalk board said £2.5. Either way it was Illy so it was darn good coffee. My wife had the large fry up with 2 sausages, 2 bacon, fried egg, beans, mushrooms, potato bread, soda bread and half a tomato (£5.95). Everything had great taste - far better that our local shelbourne cafe in our home city. It’s 5 star but as it was very busy and all the staff were lovely it was still annoying to find the coffees had gone quite cold before the cooked food arrived. Hope to return some day but it’s quite a trek.

I wouldn’t recommend the place to anyone. Nor would I return for a second chance. I was going there today with my sister and her fiancé. She had heard good reviews from her friends and we thought it’d be a good spot and a lovely view to go with our meal. However when we arrived we were given only 1 food menu and 2 beverages menus. Not ideal.Due to COVID-19 and the deck seating area being full we temporarily sat outside on the benches. A worker informed us that when a table freed up she’d move us over.15 mins had gone past and a table in the decking area freed up. No staff considered to inform us and we took it upon ourselves to relocate.By this stage no one had approached us for drinks never mind a food order. A worker comes over to clear our table but does not ask if we have had an order took. Finally a worker walks by from afar and says she’ll be with us shortly to take our order. She then proceeds to take an order from people that came in after us.That was the last straw and as we walked out there seemed to be no acknowledgement from the staff that they gave terrible customer service.

I am an keen hiker and rock climber and a massive supporter of local restaurants and refuges along mountain paths. However the experience I had here was inexplicably horrendous and unacceptable. I visited the cafe with my brother and fiancé on a beautiful sunny (rare!) day off. We were all so excited for a fun day in the sunshine. Unfortunately our experience was ruined by the older gentleman who made the decision to be completely and utterly rude to those coming near his land with a disgustingly bitter and elitist attitude towards us parking in his car park! (We had just been advised seconds earlier by a worker on that road to park there). We were so confused and responded politely apologising if we had got the parking location wrong but he continued yelling for no reason. I would highly recommend visiting elsewhere in the local area as treating anyone in this way is just not okay!
