The Rostrevor Inn in Newry and Mourne

Just back from a night here, was a wonderful experience, the room was huge and I had the best night's sleep I've ever had in a new bed. The shower was powerful and the shower door didn't let any water escape to the floor, towels were fluffy. I paid for the breakfast and dinner option and both were excellent, the pork bites are divine, both our mains were great and my wife said her pancakes this morning wee the best she'd had in years. Crawfords bar is cosy and friendly, with a great singer there last night. All the staff were wonderful. The area itself is stunning, well worth seeing. Highly recommended.

We arrived in rostrevor Inn and they came up to me and my family to check with us if we had a booking but we didn't. The staff were friendly and told me and my family to take a seat. They brought us a menu to look at and then we ordered our food. We ordered the food and drinks. They were all friendly and nice. I would go to rostrevor Inn for a lovely meal again.

The food was delicious... it was steak night. The kids loved their food, too. The staff were friendly, patient, helpful, and efficient. The surroundings were cosy and pleasant. We had a really nice time as everything was great.

Rooms were lovely, clean n well serviced. Shame about the breakfast, really let the experience down. Explained to the waiter I was coeliac, he said I could have the pancakes, I asked him to check with the chef, who said I could have cooked fry for breakfast without the toast. I doubted the sausages were gluten free so didn't risk it. Servers n chef should have an understanding n knowledge of dietary requirements

Edit 2024 - back for another work dinner. Eighteen of us. Food was exceptional and staff welcoming and friendly. A very enjoyable evening. Highly recommend this restaurant. 2019 - We brought our staff for dinner last week - 19 of us. Unanimous five stars. Food absolutely fabulous, staff perfect - helpful, attentive and professional - and great atmosphere.

Derdrie, Marie Clare, Theresa and Christine make this place so warm and welcoming. Beautifully appointed rooms, wonderful food and great music and craic in the pub.

Just back from 3 nights over New Year's. Stayed in Room 2. Great huge bed. Toasty rooms and probably the best power shower ever had. Breakfast was tasty and filling. Fresh coffee, cooked breakfast. Loads of choice. Crawford's bar was cosy and music on both nights we went. Locals joining in the singing. Proper Guinness served. Poured halfway then allowed to settle. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Got parked right outside on all 3 nights. Definitely recommend.

Go here if you have a dog and order the hake. Perfectly cooked, creamy sauce and huge pile of mash. I gave 5 stars for rooms but only relating to the side bar and snug as we stayed elsewhere. The main restaurant looked really nice too. Staff lovely, big fire and steps away from Fairy Glen and Kilbroney Forest Park. Lovely part of the world.

Best food, great staff, great time, good atmosphere, music, best people.

Located in the very scenic coastal town, Rostrevor, this is a fantastic place to stay. The rooms are spotless, the restaurant meals are a treat and the bar is an old-fashioned Irish delight. Most of all though is the friendliness of the staff in making you feel welcome and sparing time for a chat. I've never encountered more friendly and welcoming staff in any hotel/B&B. Enjoy your stay.

We’re just back from a 2 day break at Rostrevor inn. It’s a fabulous place offering drinks ( local as well) in a cosy wee pub with a fire and live music. The dinner and breakfasts we had were all delicious too. Great location for exploring kilbroney and the mournes too😎

Very clean. Lovely room, but in the attic, so no view. Breakfast there was so gluten-free bread or options. The lady on reception couldn't have been nicer. Overall, it's a lovely place. Right next to a fantastic walk in the woods

The rooms are spotlessly clean, beds comfortable and a great shower. Also bottled water, tea and coffee making facilities added to the comfort of my stay. A freshly cooked breakfast is served in the restraunt downstairs. I also had dinner in the restraunt, which was very good. There was a lively atmosphere in the bar with live music which was very enjoyable. Last but not least, the Rostrevor Inn is situated in a great setting, where you can access the spectacular Fary Glen.

My husband and I called in yesterday evening,no booking.This was not a problem, brilliant service,food and great conversation with all the staff, particularly Christine. A hidden gem in Rostrevor,we will be back

Lovely wee two night stay with my partner, food delicious and staff friendly. Parking an issue as no facilities to park, but lovely place and would stay again.

Went for food as it was recommended unfortunately don't serve between 3 - 5 pm

Lovely place , real scenic setting in a lovely village , staff were great , we went on a weekday Monday /Tuesday and restaurant closed for evening meal unfortunately, will definitely go back on a weekend ..

Liaising with the Rostrevor Inn for the Dunn's Night dinner on 1st August was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Manager, Bart, expertly guided me through preparations for a meal involving up to 62 people. The food, presentation and service on the night was tip top! Looking forward to this becoming an annual event on the first Tuesday of August.

We phoned this afternoon for a table, and we're lucky to get one. We both had the Sunday lunch special - turkey and ham with steamed vegetables, roast, and Mash potatoes. It was agreed it was the best turkey and ham dinner we've had 👌 The staff were friendly and efficient on the phone and service. Great team work! We go here every time we're back home from Sydney. We highly recommend

Went for girls nt out recently and I was blown away by the food it was fantastic and v reasonably priced.. I highly recommend the hake and my friend had the sirloin steak which was fab…the atmosphere was terrific also🤩 Thanku Colin, Caolan, Sagis, MC, Sian, Christine, Eimear and especially Blaine for all his patience🤩 keep up the good work x

The food and service is excellent. The fish dishes are amazing.

Booked for an overnight stay. Check in was quick and professional. The room was small but had all we needed. It was clean and functional with a comfortable bed. The adjoining bar was very nice and well priced. The barman was friendly as were the patrons. It was at breakfast where my only complaint arose. Service was very slow and when my fry arrived it was overdone. The wait for the fry was that long that the tea I had poured was pretty cold when the food arrived. The reputation of this place is pretty good. Maybe we just caught them on a bad morning although at breakfast they were not that busy.

The pub group was very good. The seafood chowder was interesting and very well cooked. Overall the place makes a really good effort.

Amazing food and great atmosphere

Dreadful breakfast. One of worst I've ever had. Greasy over cooked. There's no excuse for making a bad breakfast. Bacon, eggs tomato, toast what's complicated about that. I'd love to know who is writing the great reviews for this place on TripAdvisor cause whoever runs TripAdvisor would need to go to some of these places to get more of an accurate rating.

Recently celebrated a dear friend's 60th birthday in Rostrevor with the central event hosted at the Rostrevor Inn ... the Mecca of the town if the atmosphere and vibes on Friday and Saturday night were anything to go on ... and I believe that's how it goes ... Delicious food including the finest fresh fish from the Lough, warm dynamic service and ably overseen by its owner Seth Linder and his team ... Highly recommend it. I stayed up the road in the lovely Sands B & B but I hear the rooms at the Rostrevor Inn are just gorgeous too ... it's the place to stay and eat and groove ... yeah, lovely music both nights too ...

I I booked the Rostrevor Inn to celebrate my birthday with a group (25) of family and friends. We made use of the accommodation, had a celebratory dinner and enjoyed the ‘craic’ in Crawford’s bar. The whole event was a real success. The accommodation was comfortable, the customer service excellent and last, but by no means least the food for our large group of hungry guests was absolutely delicious! Everything ran smoothly thanks to the efficiency of all the staff who gave us their full attention and genuine warmth. A big thank you to all the team! PS. I recommend the hake sourced locally:)

I had a wonderful time here. The food was a particular highlight. I had a meal with family and we were all delighted with how tasty the food was as well as the generous portions. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. I had a nice, comfortable bedroom - nothing fancy but had everything I needed.

The meal we had here was excellent, first class, and the staff couldn't have been any nicer. We had just settled down in the bar to listen to the traditional set, and a lady came in, stood on our dog twice, ( a golden retriever, not easily missed) and then proceeded to make us feel so uncomfortable about her phobia with dogs that we left. It's a real pity, we're down in Kilbroney often and Crawfords bar would always be our go to.

I went for the slow roasted pork belly. The dish had so much cream sauce that it looked more like a soup. The sauce was overpowering and couldn’t really taste any other flavours. Didn’t finish as I wasn’t enjoying it. Staff didn’t check back on table. Wouldn’t rush back.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and evening meal here.

This bar and restaurant is situated in a popular tourist spot and has a lovely, cozy atmosphere. The food is generally above average, and the service is excellent, making it a great choice for a spot off. While the prices are reasonable, I found the vegetable soup to be lacking in flavor and presentation. However, my wife's seafood chowder was a better choice and quite delicious. The location is perfect for grabbing a bite before heading to the nearby Cloughmore, aka 'Big Stone'

Just ate dinner so no idea of rooms but had gorgeous good with a great atmosphere. Highly recommend

Stayed a few years back but never left a review. Inn staff took us in last minute. Had a great meal and stay. Would love to return.

The location of the rostrevor inn is smashing. Great spot to base yourself for exploring carlingford Lough area and the mournes. The rooms where clean and tidy and nicely decorated and check in was simple and quick. We didn't The price we paid for 1 night stay was very reasonable including breakfast and dinner. Unfortunately we feel the food was not as good as we were expecting having read other reviews and information before our stay. We both had burgers for dinner and felt that they were just "ok" and upon waking up excited about our day of exploring ahead of us we were disappointed with an overall "overdone" full fry.

Die Gerichte waren alle frisch zubereitet und hatten einen unverwechselbaren Geschmack. Besonders die Fleischgerichte und die hausgemachten Saucen waren ein Genuss für den Gaumen. Auch die Atmosphäre im Rostrevor Inn war sehr angenehm. Das Interieur des Pubs war traditionell und gemütlich und das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Leider müssen wir sagen, dass die Live-Musik an unserem Besuchstag etwas lahm war und eher für ältere Menschen geeignet schien. Dennoch haben wir die Musik sehr genossen und es hat die Atmosphäre im Rostrevor Inn noch angenehmer gemacht. Insgesamt ist das Rostrevor Inn ein großartiger Ort, um Essen und Musik zu genießen. Obwohl die Live-Musik an unserem Besuchstag etwas schwach war, haben wir das Essen und die Atmosphäre sehr genossen. Wir empfehlen das Rostrevor Inn auf jeden Fall jedem, der auf der Suche nach einer gemütlichen Atmosphäre und gutem Essen ist.

Nestled at the foot of Kilbroney Park, close to the Fairy Glen in the beautiful village of Rostrevor, the Rostrevor Inn is steeped in history and charm. Food - we had dinner and breakfast - was wonderful, great choice including vegan options - freshly cooked, good portions, tasty and price was excellent. Highly recommend steak night! The staff were exceptional, friendly, efficient and the place was spotless.

Very comfortable, quiet room with a gigantic double bed…right in the middle of town. Much cheaper than the AirB&B that a friend rented down the road too. Charming staff everywhere and a FANTASTIC full Irish breakfast (see photo). 100% recommended if you’re in the Rostrevor area.

Gastropub food. Great little spot with good service and varied selection. Connected bar is great for drinks before or after the meal.

Great place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Sunday roast is always amazed and the décor really reminds u of an old time setting. The staff are friendly and helpful

Great dog friendly bar and restaurant, there are only 2 dog friendly tables at the end of the bar area as they aren't allowed in the restaurant which is understandable, and the allocated area is perfect as it's nice and quiet. Food was great, had the house burger and fish & chips.

Great food in beautiful surroundings.

We visited Sunday evening, were graciously greated by a lovely lady, she led us to our table which was situated in the middle of the restaurant which was great for having a nosey haha! Order was taken promptly and food presented first class. Thank you so much to the three ladies who looked after us all night and to finish it off we had a lovely drink in the bar with the wonderful bar man. Will definitely be back!!

Check the bill…! We went at this restaurant because of the good reviews, and because it was within walking distance from our B&B. We LOVE fish. The taste of the sea of fresh fish is sublime! Why covering it with strong flavor sauces?! It’s a waste… So we asked for our “Fillet of hake with tiger prawns” WITHOUT SAUCES. It came WITHOUT PRAWNS TOO… Ok, no worries, we didn’t want to bother about that. BUT, on our way back to the B&B, we realized that WE PAID FOR THE PRAWS THAT WE DIDN’T EAT!!! We had just arrived in Ireland from another country, and we were very tired from the trip, so not that much in the mood of coming back to discuss the matter… Anyway, we’re not stating that they did so in bad faith… but certainly there was a fault in sharing information between kitchen and cashier, and this should not happen in such a renowned (and high-priced) restaurant… Moreover, the wine was very very expensive! And food overpriced in relation the their quality. Yet, we’ll change our rating from 2 to 3, only because we too should have checked the bill…

Seafood in its finest! Super delicious friendly stuff

Just love this place. It's immaculate and the staff are so friendly. Beautiful food and wine and comfortable spotless rooms. Crawfords bar is lovely place to relax with a couple of drinks. During these times sanitizer is available in many areas and social distancing is observed. Will definitely be back.

Having visited the previous evening for a family meal which was very good we booked for breakfast the next morning. We arrived at 10am and the table was reserved for us. Our orders were taken promptly. Our tea and coffee arrived straight away. We then waited 45 minutes for our breakfast’s. All but one of us ordered the cooked breakfast. When they arrived they were so over cooked and dried up they were inedible. According to the menu it was fresh mushrooms, they were tinned. There were no tomatoes. The bacon was almost burnt. When we complained to the waitress she offered to cook us some more bacon. She then said she could make us something else. We decided not stay we paid for two breakfasts and left. We were told they were very busy. Looking around there were not many people in the restaurant. So disappointing compared to the evening meal.

Room very tiny, the room had limited wardrobe space only a tiny cupboard with 3 hangers so if your staying a week that wouldn't be enough space and only a tiny drawer, the room only contained a bed and two bedside lockers, it was meant...

Good room, good dinning, in a lovely town right next to a river and a park.

I have eaten my way through most of the lunchtime menu in the Rostrevor inn and have never been disappointed their cod and chips is superb and their range of burgers are second to none all very reasonably priced. I highly recommend a visit.

Spent a night here on one of the great family rooms. Very clean & comfortable & fine for us but quite a few stairs to climb. Lovely dinner in the restaurant & the choice at breakfast was excellent. Very pleasant & helpful staff as well.

Quaint little B&B, nice location with great bar and restaurant on either side. Room was nice, although bathroom was quite small. My only concern is that the toilet was not clean when we arrived, remnants from previous occupants remained which concerned mean a little about the thoroughness of cleaning.

Went there last week for family gathering. Service poor food poor., 2 of us had fish over cooked spent nearly 400.00 for 8 . staff more interested in money than service. very disappointed gone down hill since last visit 2 years ago believe the lost...

the new menu is so good, been here twice for dinner recently, first the vegetation pasta pesto with broccoli and peppers , and tonight we had the mexican chicken burgers, both 10/10 ✨ and the chilli + garlic fries are amaaazing

I booked this place as they have a dog friendly area beside the bar. I had a burger which was one of the best that I can remember. My partner had fish & chips and the fish was the freshest she can remember with nice crisp batter and chips served with mushy peas and homemade tartar sauce. Staff were pleasant and friendly and our dog was no problem at all. Will definitely be back again

Only had hot wings and had chips on the side for £7 which is very reasonable. The service was excellent and also had a lovely pint of Guinness. I was very impressed and intend to return.
