The best restaurants in South Eastern NI

After an Easter birthday meal in Belfast, this week it was back to our favourite restaurant in Newcastle and we weren't disappointed, as usual. The food was superb, up to the standards of our previous week's meal in Belfast and brilliant value for money, well below Belfast prices. Starters, mains, veg sides, drink, service all excellent.

Excellent Mediterranean food and reasonably priced. We stopped here for Sunday lunch and both got the barbecue steak and chicken filled wraps. Just excellent.

Family trip for Mother’s Day, food was excellent, atmosphere was great, very relaxed, staff were faultless in their service and attitude!

Great food, great service. I ordered via just eat for collection and food was ready when I got there. The fish was absolutely beautiful and batter stayed crispy even when I put vinegar on it, chips were also very good. Will be recommending and returning again!

Lovely gluten free cheese and ham toastie with a nice fresh salad and coleslaw. The lady who served me was very friendly and helpful.

Carthago is a gem. Food is fabulous. Fresh. Different. Beautifully cooked. Thoroughly recommended. Visit, you will not regret it.

Visited with my husband and daughter to celebrate the end of a levels. Interior is beautiful, cocktails amazing, staff so friendly and attentive. Really good menu available, with more to follow! Totally recommend - we will not be strangers!

The food was delivered to my home, it was 20 mins early which was great but the presentation and quality of the food was completely abysmal, the prawn chow mein I ordered had no vegetables at all, just greasy noodles and tasteless prawns. As you can see in the photo the chips were dark brown, completely over cooked but soggy from the amount of grease on them, I paid £18 for something only fit for the bin. Absolutely disgusting food I would never order from here again

My husband was gifted a cake from here, it was amazing, the attention to detail was excellent, we thought it would be style over substance but it also tasted delicious, although it seemed a shame to cut into it!

First visit today.. I know it's crazy but there's always been a que when I drive by and haven't had time to stop. So today I decided it was time to wait and I'm so glad I did. Friendly staff, fast service so I wasn't waiting long at all, fresh ingredients and amazing Christmas Sandwich to get into the festive spirit!!! Will defo be back.. Thanks guys 👌🏼

Came across here by chance and what a delight. There's a great selection of choices for gluten-free and veggie/vegan diners. The food was delicious and presented really nicely. The service was great and the atmosphere was lovely and relaxed. It's also worth nothing that the portions are very generous - we went for the 3 course Sunday lunch and didn't expect such a big feeding!
