Overall disappointing as a beautiful building, but it stops there, i arrived in the evening, bed room was very cold as heating was off, took ages for room to warm up after turing on the rad., breakfast was lovely but staff seated people based on profiling..good tables went to well dressed people or people with titles..the rest were directed towards the side tables

We went for Pizzas as they just reopened their special pizza oven. Sadly it seems their staff don't particularly understand how to use it all that well. The crust of the pizza came completely burnt to a crisp and I had to send it back. The replacement came very undercooked where the cheese had not melted properly. The base of the pizza was so soggy that as soon as you pick up a slice, the sauce, cheese and toppings all just fall straight off. These 10 inch pizzas were £16!!! I felt like I had been robbed when I paid for it, the only reason I stayed to finish was my family were also eating and I did not want to make any further issues. We used to come here every year for Pizzas for the last several years, and there was a noticeable drop in quality every year since 2020. This place used to be sublime, but now it is just another pub, cosplaying as a posh restaurant.

What a wonderful little find. We were stopping in some pods not far from Northallerton and had a little search for somewhere to have a little breakfast/brunch that was a little off the beaten track (in reality it wasn’t we just wanted somewhere that wasn’t in ‘town’). There’s a little series of buildings with a butchers shop, gift shop etc, along with this great cafe. I had poached eggs on sourdough with bacon, Anne-Marie had mushrooms on sourdough with bacon and Ellie had a bacon sandwich. All of it was first class. Very tasty, and well presented. The staff were lovely and friendly. Alongside a couple of Americanos and a glass of OJ we paid £33 and it was well worth it. We sat inside although there’s a lovely little covered area outside too. A few bits and pieces from the farm shop for tonight’s BBQ made it a nice and easy one-stop shop. Definitely one to remember next time we’re down this way.

Just can't fault this place: - Superb food. I had a beef and potato curry with bhaji topped with yoghurt while my daughter opted for the wagyu burger. Plenty of choice of substantial mains @ £16-17 or lighter dishes. - Swift service. We had to wait a few minutes to be seated which made me wonder if the food would be ages but it was served within 15 mins. There was a queue all the time we were there (midweek lunch in February!) but no-one seemed to wait long. - Pleasant ambience. Staff wearing logo-ed brown aprons sums up the classy vibe. - Excellent adjoining shop from which you can buy your tea or meal for the next day. Could call by on a journey home on the A19 (a stone's throw away) for a quick eat when you get back. All in all, a definite contender for meal of the year. Tip: get there early if you don't want to wait at all. Also note that unusually the kitchen is closed on Sunday.
