Its probably one of the best Sunday lunches we have ever had (that's coming from someone who is very fussy when it comes to Sunday roasts) everything was great the place the food the wine & the staff!! So much choice & plenty of it....the chef even came out & checked we were happy & that we had enough.....soooo impressed we've booked a table of 8 for a couple of weeks time for my mum & dads wedding anniversary 💕

Went to the Horseshoe Inn for Sunday dinner and was not disappointed one bit. An outstanding, hearty, hot and delicious meal was served and although we all struggled to finish it, we all cleared our plates. From entering the pub, we were made very welcome and throughout the service, we were repeatedly asked how the meal was. Tom (owner and chef) spoke to us at the table and asked how the meal was and treat us like a local. Overall a very lovely Sunday dinner and overall experience at this lovely little village pub. Fantastic value for money and we will most definitely return in the future. Thank you to Tom and Angela

Rang last minute for a table for 4 adults on Sunday 1st December. The landlady had to move some tables / bookings around to fit us in for the time we wanted and I'm so glad she did. The Sunday lunch was quite simply the best I've ever eaten in a pub or restaurant (and I've eaten quite a few). A really nice touch was the chef popping out to see if everything was okay. We have recently moved into West Rounton, we’ve frequented the Horseshoe on several occasion as they serve an excellent choice of real ales! We’ve also had a meal there (which was also excellent!) but never had a Sunday lunch, until last Sunday. The place was busy as ever on Sunday so we had previously booked a table. Well, what can I say? We both had the beef and it absolutely melted in your mouth, fantastic Yorkshire’s and a good choice of vegetables. I’m not a great lover of Sunday lunches usually, I can take them or leave them to be honest, but Karen my better half considers herself as some what of a connoisseur, we both agreed after the meal, that this was the best Sunday lunch we have EVER had! And trust me, because of Karen’s love for Sunday lunch, we’ve had a few in our time! Angie and Tom who run the Horseshoe, can’t do enough for anyone and everyone that walks through there door. Well done and thanks for a great lunch. We seem to have struck gold with our village pub!

The reviews of almost all visitors give the Horseshoe a 5 star rating.I`m sure this is only because that`s the best you can give.We are a couple,no kids,so we tend to go out a lot for sunday lunch. If there is a finer one in the area i want to know where it is.I wont go into detail as we all know what a Sunday lunch is,but, for quality, quantity and service do yourselves a favour and go[.Perhaps i should really have given it a zero rating just to keep people away].Where else do you know where the chef is concerned enough to come round each table to ensure everything is ok?Iposted a review of a previous sunday lunch elseware and stated "don`t go if you`re hungry".Well here i`d say go if you are.Skip breakfast.

For anyone who appreciates good food then this is the place, pleasantly cosy with a warm, friendly and caring atmosphere, i have to say this was the best Sunday lunch i have ever had put in front of me, potion size was large and the food was hot, there was barely enough room for the food on the tables, with enough trimmings to feed an extra few bods with ease!! This is not the place for people who want a cheap Sunday lunch because they can't be bothered to cook, this is hearty food cooked with passion and every effort made to produce beautiful tasty food, everything was spot on, if i had any grumble it was simply that there was too much, i wanted to be rolled out, we had 3 courses but it killed me to leave some of the main course, as we HAD to leave some room for pudding OBVIOUSLY couldn't recommend this place enough and I'd happily pay the price again and again for this service and quality. Beautiful well done the owners ❤️❤️ the picture was without any trimmings, of which there was several all very delicious, unfortunately i didn't take a picture the one i added was my daughters Snapchat..

I booked under " Mandy " and the fabulous landlady remembered my name when asking if we needed anything, I thought that was wonderful and made me feel so welcome which we all were made to feel. Thank you for such a great Sunday. Mandy, trev and the old fella

Simply superb! The Horseshoe is the best place for Sunday lunch. The meat is fabulous along with the wonderful gravy. Seasonal veg cooked to perfection, still vibrant in colour and always plenty of everything. I love the fact Tom always comes round to check if you have sufficient and if you are enjoying the food.

We stayed in West Rounton this summer which is a wonderful, quiet and very friendly hamlet in North Yorkshire. We ate at the Horseshoe inn on 2 occasions after various recommendations from people and reading the reviews on trip advisor. Let's just say we were not disappointed. The first night we ate from the a la carte menu and to be honest we ended up sharing all our meals as they were all so delicious. We had chicken Kiev, steak burger and seafood linguine and whilst the Kiev and burger were superb, the linguine was the one we all wanted, just superb...On the second occasion we chose and ate from the Thursday £7 menu and again the quality of the food was exceptional. This time we had gammon steak, chicken curry and lasagne and couldn't choose which was the best...I'm salivating just writing this review.Tom and Angie are lovely people, welcoming and warm as are the locals and as I said, we wish we lived closer so we could visit more often. We wish you all the very best....

Having visited The Horseshoe Inn on a number of occasions for a fine Sunday lunch we recently visited to sample the new Thursday Evening Early Bird menu. Unfortunately the standard of our food was in no way comparable to the excellent Sunday lunches which this pub serves. My Steak and Ale pie was poor. The meat, although plentiful was very dry, indicative of perhaps being re-heated a number of times and literally welded to the pastry. The pastry it'self was really hard at the edges, again, perhaps a sign of re-heating. The chips where not to my liking, being made from "skins on" potatoes with a soft and greasy consistency. The included jug of gravy was of a very thick consistency which struggled to vacate the jug.My wife's Chicken Curry was very basic. Large pieces of Chicken Breast, although plentiful was very dry and lacked any sign of being marinated / cooked in the sauce. Our drinks where good, particularly my Hambleton Ale which was a first for me and a definate fpr the future.Serving staff where efficient and friendly as was the welcome on our arrival.

My husband and I came across The Horseshoe Inn during a drive in the countryside on Easter Sunday. Angie the landlady was able to squeeze us in to eat which was appreciated. It was by far the best Sunday lunch we had tasted and has saw us return every Sunday since! Booking is advisable as they have many repeat customer's like ourselves and only a small dining area. Tom the landlord and chef ensures you don't leave hungry with the portion sizes! Lovely owners, staff and establishment. Highly recommended.

Reviewed this place before but because it's consistently good we felt we had to make another. We rang early teatime to book us in for a last minute much needed meal Saturday evening , we were so lucky the horseshoe could squeeze us both in . We Chose from the menu , two fab Parmesans , crunchy breaded chicken in a creamy béchamel , it was hard to choose from the great choice of other tempting meals , but the parmos just satisfied our cravings, both served with homemade chunky chips and a fresh crunchy salad . Delicious !! Quick efficient friendly service , never disappointed on our visits , well worth a trip out , booking advised though due to the small dinning area and popularity of the place , we find the horseshoe excellent for Friday and Saturday evening dinning as well as superb Sunday lunches , we also heard the popular early bird menu on a Thursday evening is also making a comeback !!! £7 for a choice of seven meals , great midweek treat and you can maybe even eat outside on a warm summers evening . Keep up the good work !!! We will be back !

We ame following a review in my local paper, though a small country village pub this establishment won one of the top prizes in the Taste of Yorkshire Awards. The prize was very well deserved. If the judges were fed as we were today, then The Horseshoe should have Michelin stars hanging on the walls 3 deep.Sunday lunch is always a treat, but when it is this quality then you know you have found a gem.Our starters of crispy black pudding with a bacon chutney and a smoked haddock and salmon fish cake with citrus mayonnaise were both excellent. The black pudding is from Doreen's and is one of the best I have tasted. Our main courses 1 slow cooked silverside of beef and 1 loin of pork just stupendous. My pork was melt in the mouth tender and my wives beef (all 3 slices) you could have spread on a slice of bread it was so tender, served with good homemade Yorkshire puddings, roast and creamed potatoes, baton carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, mashed swede and fresh cabbage were spot on, and all fresh not frozen, fresh. We cleared our plates but could not face a sweet. We were both so full we did not look at the dessert menu. This was the best Sunday lunch I have had in a very long time. Next time I go, no breakfast, and hopefully I may get to dessert. If I could give 10 stars across the board I would it was glorious!

Sunday Lunch , starter was deep fried Bettys Black Pudding from a four choice listing with a lovely home made chutney, Bettys is as good as any black pud and a lovely starter, mains of beef and pork both generous portions of good quality tender meat supplied by nearby Roots Farm served with chefs speciality extra large homemade Yorkshire pudding good gravy and nice roasties, other accompaniments were mash, Swede, cheesy cabbage, carrots cauliflower and broccoli, to much really, seasonal veg and couple of new boiled would save chef some effort and in our opinion enhance lunch, we shared a pud , with our drinks and a warm welcome and good service the bill was not far over £40 All in all good value and worth the drive out into the country.

Visited this great place last month. I phoned up to book a table and told the guy I'd never eaten here before and he said "you won't be disappointed" and we weren't. The Sunday lunch food was excellent and the portions were extremely generous. Not one of our party could finish it, oh and the Yorkshire puddings are the best I've had (unless my Mam is reading this then yours are the best Mam) The couple who run the place are lovely and proper down to earth Northerners. Salt of the earth :)

We've been here before and had a great experience however this time surpassed the the last. A busy atmosphere yet service attentive. Food delightful yet again. Between 2 of us we had the specially ordered Fresh Mussels in Tomato chilli wine and garlic. Battered pate mushrooms too an absolute must.Mains were a fillet steak with a strong crumbled Blue cheese again we'd requested this and we also had the famous Parmo. Both meals passed our expectations and we passed our thanks To the chef when he came to ask about our experience. A nice touch. If your In the area this place is a must with a friendly landlady, amazing food and an over all great experience. We'll be back.

We booked at very short notice and luckily for us they were able to accommodate us which we chuffed with as there was four of us. As usual service was fab and the food as excellent as ever. Everything is cooked to order and freshly prepared on the premises by the fab owner and his wife and staff. The Yorkshire Puddings and the chips are the best ever and every dish we ordered was perfect as usual. The restaurant is small so I would recommend booking in advance as it gets very busy but thoroughly recommended if you love your food make the effort!

It is not often we are passing here so if we are we always try to call for Sunday lunch. Tom and Angie run this place and you feel as if you are stepping into your families sitting room when you arrive. It is so relaxed and them and their friendly young staff make you feel so at home. There was four of us on Sunday and two of us had the special of lamb shank, one had beef and pork and one pork. The food was amazing as always with lots of lovely veg including my favourite creamed leeks, roasties, mash, swede, carrots, broccoli and caulifower. Huge yorkshire puddings. We were fairly early so only a few tables arrived while we were there but it was clear that this place has its regulars. One lady spoke to all of the staff by name and she was delighted with her food and another couple who had only found this gem last week said they had told everyone and have been looking forward to it all week. Tom is chef here and he always makes the effort to come out and to speak to everyone checking all is ok as do the other staff. I can't eat more than a main in here but the starters and deserts always look great too. Well done and keep it up folks.

We called in this pub for Sunday lunch on our way back from Yarm. Usually you have to book but we were lucky.Oh my word were we lucky......The Yorkshire Puddings are beautiful and the meat was gorgeous between the 4 of us we tried all types. Now not your basic veg here oh no the veg selection was delightful it went from your traditional stuff like broccoli, cauliflower, carrots to creamy mash mmmmm, swede and the wow of the cabbage leek in creamy sauce it was delightful.Nothing was any trouble with the service either they got whatever you needed and sorted a couple of special requests.Great little pub, amazing food and very warm welcome - will definitely be visiting again.

Lovely cafe in the middle of a beautiful high street in Bedale. Lots of GF options. Very friendly and polite staff. Food is yummy and freshly baked. Helped to keep my lively daughter entertained and quiet with a children’s book.

Specials were excellent but pannini I usually get was poor. Bland cheese and not enough of it. Onion was not cooked and slices far too big for a sandwich. Salad dressing was excellent. Disappointing as I have previously rated it highly.😔

Delicious food, we got in just in time, and we're glad we did! Yorkshire rarebit and a proper ham and mustard sandwich, absolutely banging. The staff are lovely too. Would recommend!
