The Greyhound at Bagby in Hambleton

1st visit to The Greyhound at Bagby but certainly won’t be our last. Absolutely fantastic Sunday dinner, normally only have two courses but had to try the desserts too. Food was superb, excellent value for money, and all staff very friendly. Highly recommend !

Excellent as always, fabulous food brilliant hosts, warm welcome couldn't wish for a better local, we are very lucky to have Laz and Feta , highly recommend.

Exceptional food, interesting Turkish options, lovely attentive well trained staff. This was a great choice for a special family meal, thanks to all.

As a family we enjoy eating out and there are a number quality restaurants in the areas but none better than the Greyhound. The Turkish food is amazing, portions ample and it has a wonderful friendly atmosphere and my children are always made to feel very welcome. Where else can you get Turkish Delight ice cream. A must visit if you are in the area.

Had dinner here and opted for the Turkish meze.... Very disappointed everything was deep fried the homous had no taste and came with no pitta bread just an ordinary bread roll that had been sliced definitely wasn't worth the money

Been here loads of times usually very busy need to book early in the week when this evening 10 / 08 / 2024 the place was practically empty 3 tables the place nearly empty first time I've never seen it like this before though did notice quite a price hike and smaller portions which maybe has something to do with it . That said food excellent and good staff again there seems to have been a reduction in staff as well , expensive compared to other places in the area. Would give 5* for food 3* for atmosphere

Visited the Greyhound on 30th Nov . The food was delicious nicely cooked and presented. The staff very attentive and friendly and owner / manager also waited on. The Greyhound is very well appointed and ,tables well spaced not on top of each other spacious is the word. Been here a few times and can wholeheartedly recommend, though gets busy I prefer early doors . Revisited 10 /08 / 2024 oh dear the place was nearly empty only 3 tables plus mine, been a price hike a reduction in portion maybe something to do with it ,you would normally need to book Monday for a Saturday/ Sunday table ,also reduced staff food still good I would now rate 3*

Took a drive to the white horse at Kilburn and stopped at the Greyhound at Bagby. Had we been 30 mins earlier we would not have got a table as they get booked up on a Sunday. The pub is tastefully decorated and cosy, the food was well presented, high quality and very tasty! We had the deep fried brie to start and roast dinners (one pork one beef) the service was friendly and attentive. They care a lot about their customers which gets my vote! we'll definitely be calling in again on our next visit to Kilburn to scale the white horse - worth doing if your fit enough, otherwise drive to the airfield at the top and walk across to the head of the horse! Stunning views of God's County

We have moved to the area and was recommended to come to The Greyhound and it definitely doesn't disappoint! Fabulous food and absolutely amazing hospitality! Thank you so much we definitely think you are going to be our local! 🥂🍻😁

If you want proper authentic Turkish food this is the place to come. Everything we had was delicious and well cooked. Friendly staff. Can absolutely recommend. We're telling all our friends about this place.

What a great village asset, lovely pub and even better restaurant run by a nice team. Good selection of beers and wines and a fantastic menu of Turkish and English dishes cooked to perfection. Has beef starter course and beef main course -really enjoyed both.

We stumbled on this place after a day out in York. We searched Trip-advisor reviews and this sounded perfect. The place is gorgeous/ spotless even the mens toilets scored a 10. The owner served us and helped us choose the our meals based on our likes and dislikes. The food was exceptional which was agreed by all 4 of us in our party. We’ll definitely be returning when we next visit Yorkshire. I would recommend booking as the place got busy later on and it was only a Wednesday. 10/10 thank you!

Lovely Sunday lunch. Thought the grilled feta starter was a real treat. Really enjoyed the mains too. Only negative came from my niece who thought the beef was a bit stringy. But the fudge cake had the thumbs up from the 10 Yr old, sufficient to say she'll come back ( the ultimate compliment at her age.). Had a lovely time thank you

The restaurant was recommended to us by a lady at Ampleforth Abbey so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. We both had Turkish dishes which were superb and the baklava desserts were lovely. We would definitely recommend and in fact will be going back next week.

We are from Suffolk & visit our friends in Thirsk, we always try & book a meal at The Greyhound. The food, the service & the staff are excellent. We had a meal last night & it was as good as always. The food is always exceptional, so fresh & so so tasty. Roll on our next visit!

Simply superb! Wonderful food, carefully made and presented well. Proper country pub food and the Turkish selection was equally good! We dropped in after reading the reviews whilst on holiday locally for a few days and were not disappointed. Service was just right, and the building itself is immaculately presented. We will be back!

We visited The Greyhound today for a family birthday. We were absolutely delighted with the pub, the staff and the service . And the food was outstanding the best meal I’ve ever had in a very long time. Highly recommended and we will most certainly be going back.

Liked it service and food where good but I think the management need to be careful on there pricing it is rather expensive

The food was first class the atmosphere is what you make and we all had a great time service no faults at all will be recommending to all our friends and family

I visited the Greyhound with friends for Sunday Lunch. A fabulous experience - lovely friendly staff, super menu with lots of good choices and specials and good value too.

Excellent food and excellent service in a lovely country pub/restaurant. Been here twice now and would highly recommend this place for fabulous food and fantastic customer service.

Service was slow 30 mins wait but to be fair was amazing the surroundings was on point too

Hi just been for lunch today having heard a lot of good reports about this place and I must say was very impressed with the truly amazing menu and the quality of the food and great customer service will be calling again soon.

What a fabulous find! Loved the mezze and chat with the landlord. 100% recommended.

Very nice decor with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. Menu is quite extensive with a strong bias towards Turkish dishes (nothing wrong with that as Turkish cuisine is good). We both chose chicken dishes which were very nice but my wife's dish came with vegetables only. We ordered extra chips (£3.95) but they were of the frozen type which didn't seem to go with the rest of the food. Portions weren't overly generous hence the rating and the title of the review.

Arrived for an early dinner for 5 people in the dog friendly area which is in the front bar. At this time it was very quiet and a little cold but the menu looked good and we were not disappointed. We all chose Turkish dishes which were well worth the slightly long wait as they were all delicious. Baklava for dessert was divine as a special treat. Desserts seem expensive these days. Enjoyed having a meal with a difference in a pub.

What an absolute gem ! Beautifully presented, spotlessly clean village pub with a Turkish twist ! Warmly welcomed on arrival by very friendly host. Well stocked bar with good choice of ales and spirits and a very varied wine list. The menu was amazing ! Great choice of predominately Turkish food to suit all tastes and budgets with a few English classics for good measure. Excellent for vegetarians/vegans. Specials board in bar area. Can highly recommend Doreen's Black Pudding Triangles , the baked aubergine stuffed with chicken and the baklava with turkish delight ice cream - foodie heaven !! Enjoyed it so much we booked a table for our next visit before we left !

Huge choice of Turkish and other dishes, all those I've tried have been excellent. Good to have something different available!

10/10- a perfect three course meal- every course was beautifully presented, lots of gluten free options ( four out of six of us were gluten free) Love the fact that the vegetables come in separate portions for each person - hot delicious food. My brother in law even got deep fried Brie gluten free- a special batter was made for this, no request was too much trouble Tomato and basil Soup to start - 10/10 Roast beef and gluten free Yorkshire pudding with lots of fresh vegetables - very tasty 10/10 Berry cheesecake - totally calorifically worth every mouthful 😋. We will be back very soon ( and hopefully getting booked in for Xmas Day 2024- if we’re lucky enough to get in) Lovely professional, friendly and attentive staff Thank you to all - Merry Christmas 🎄

A really nice country village pub. Beautiful inside with a lovely atmosphere. Wide selection of Turkish meals along with English pub favourites. Prices slightly higher than an average pub but this is no average pub. The food quality was very high, cooked to perfection and with attentive and helpful service. Spotlessly clean. No loud annoying music. Just a very pleasant place to be and to eat. Highly recommended.

My partner and I visited The Greyhound at Bagby whilst visiting the area. The pub is really lovely, it has a warm and inviting bar area and a very nicely furnished dining room . We were there for Sunday lunch . I chose the Salmon and my partner the roast pork they both came with lots of vegetables and both meals were excellent . All the staff that we saw were really friendly and helpful . I would definitely recommend The Greyhound and hope we will be back soon .

Stunning pub that we stumbled across after our walk so were probably not dressed appropriately (sorry!) The staff are so friendly in here and I don't think I've ever been in a cleaner pub. Decorated beautifully, I would love to come here more often, it's just a bit of a distance! Would definitely recommend this to others, the owner should be very proud of their pub and the team 😊😊

We had a fabulous meal here last week. Every dish we had was delicious! Food comes piping hot and good portions too. A great mix of Turkish and British choices plus a specials board too. The restaurant and pub are both beautiful and immaculate! Staff are incredibly welcoming and attentive. Fantastic service. We will certainly be returning! Many thanks x

We were staying over local to this pub and found it on Google maps and saw that it did english/turkish food so it was always worth a try so phoned up at 4pm to see about a table and they said they were fully booked but then he double checked and got us in at 5.30 and I'm glad he did cause the pub and the food was beautiful and all the waitresses all had a big smile and could not do enough for us 100% worth a visit and will definitely call again when up that way

We had a lovely meal there in June 2023. Very friendly staff and owner made a huge fuss over our 13 year old Cavalier King Charles. We’ll definitely revisit again as the food matched the quality of the service. All high quality.

Newly refurbished pub. Stylish and spacious. Englisch and Turkish food both well executed. Makes for interesting meal out. Good choice of wines. Pleasant girls serving. Can fully recommend and I am a chef.

Haven't dined here so won't comment. This is a village local that is trying extra hard to go the extra mile. The beer is great but the atmosphere seems a bit sub-quorate, probably due to the odd layout of the venue ( dog bone, drinkers at the front, eating at the back). The staff are all fantastic. Please support.

Celebrated our anniversary here. Food was fantastic with a mix of British and Turkish dishes. Service was very good with the owner and staff really helpful in meeting our requests. Definitely recommend.

Excellent lunch but would have like crackling with my Pork. The Baklava was nice but overpriced. Overall a lovely meal and venue.

Shiny Bright clean Pub and Restaurant with great food and hospitality. Dogs are welcome in the Bar (which gets busy nightime at the weekends). The food is fabulous - English or Turkish dishes but the Turkish are unique in this location. Best to eat - Mixed Turkish Starters and Baklava and Turkish Delight Ice cream (both made on site). Tipping is optional - great night out to chill and enjoy the food and experience.

Found this pub mainly by accident and decided to stay for lunch. The 3 of us were very pleasantly surprised at the very varied selection and went for the Turkish mixed starter and 2 fish pies. The food was superb. Best fish pies we have ever tasted and the mixed platter challenged us all to finish - but we did! The choice of beers was extensive. We settled on the Black Sheep blonde which was excellent. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Shame 2 of us are not locals but we will definitely call back again when we are in the area.

Lovely meal tonight, decent size servings and really well made food. Staff very welcoming and attentive, couldn't ask for more!

Wonderful service and food, tonight was one of the best Lamb Shanks I have ever eaten, and I have eaten a few in my time. I can also say that the Hummus was the best I have tasted too.

Lovely mezze platter for lunch when passing through from Manchester to Whitby. No reservation but still warmly welcomed with excellent service and everything extremely tasty.

Very friendly staff & quality food at reasonable prices

This is our food pub of choice in an area not short of places to eat well. Cuisine is a mixture of the standard and the more exotic: the chef is Turkish, and a number of his specialities are vegetarian/vegan, which helps us as our son is vegan. Plenty of choice though, whichever way you swing. Portion sizes are sensible, the food always cooked just right, with lovely sauces to bring out the flavours. Service is courteous and usually quick, even at busy times; prices won't break the bank. Cannot fault the place, we will be back. Frequently.

Arranged to meet up with family here for the first time. All of us drove from different directions of more than an hour away. Pulled in to the car park on a very wet cold day and burst car tyre. Owner /landlord very accommodating. Really pleasant and reassuring. Had coffees while the men sorted the tyre. 7 of us then had a lovely lunch. Food great. Service excellent. Very friendly staff. Will definitely return!

The food is amazing.The main courses are tasty and well seasoned. Have the Berry cheesecake with Turkish delight icecream for sweet I've never tasted better.

Lovely Sunday lunch. One of the best meals we have had recently and will be back. A twist on traditional Sunday lunch. Best creme brulee I've ever tasted with Turkish delight ice cream. Only small complaint was that it was too hot inside as all radiators were on full and a really noisy party of about 20 were in who were oblivious to anyone else around them. All in all though, would definitely recommend.

The Greyhound is quite out of our way from where we live but we were in the area for a star gazing event at Sutton bank. We are so pleased we decided to give it a go. Atmosphere was brilliant, food delicious and staff accommodating and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Second time at The Greyhound and the food was just as good if not better than the last time (also outrageously delicious). I have a wheat allergy and they were able to cater a Sunday lunch for me, which was so tasty. The staff are friendly and attentive and the owners lovely. Will definitely continue to return.

What a find. Stopped here on our trip south, as recommend by others. Unfortunately we were only looking for a light lunch because the main menu looked very interesting. Its a mixture of good old English pub classics but with an extensive Turkish selection as well. We decided to share 4 Turkish starters and forego a main as we were eating later. They were all excellent 👌 Great, friendly service and good value. Highly recommended.

We all had a starter and a main, which were amazing. I couldn’t resist a dessert. I had theme crème brûlée with Turkish delight ice-cream. OMG! best dessert I’ve ever had. I am not exaggerating. Staff and owner were lovely. It’s a modern, light and airy restaurant and bar with dogs welcome. Please try this place. You won’t regret it 😊

Menu was great for us with a mix of Turkish and traditional English food. We enjoyed what we had- chicken breast and a Turkish lamb dish. Desserts also good but I think baklava did not really go well with Turkish delight ice-cream. The service was friendly and attentive.

A lovely refurbished pub with a bar at the front and restaurant behind. Good food with a string Turkish influence. I can recommend the Mezze sharing platter as a filling starter. The Greyhound chicken special I found too sweet for my palate but my companions reported that their lamb based dish was very tasty. More expensive than "pub" grub but delightful nevertheless.

Amazing food and a warm welcome from lovely attentive staff. First time here and would like to transport it almost 200 miles north.

Didn't get chance to eat here, Sunday evenings the only time the kitchen is closed. A lovely point of Tetley's draught, landlord very friendly, his Turkish inspired menu looked really interesting so I'm hoping to get back soon.
