We dropped in after a ten mile hike so we’re pretty hungry. The place looked busy but had lots of empty tables so we decided to give it a shot. Ordering at the bar took some time as only one girl taking orders and making drinks. She advised 25-30 mins wait for food but I took a gamble and ordered. The food came in about 15-20 mins so not too bad but could tell they had been caught out by the lovely sunny day/1st March. Helmsley was packed! Anyway food was okay just over priced for what you get. Tuna melt ciabatta with some skinny fries (not homemade) and a small salad £13.50. Also if you’re paying those kind of prices should get something amazing but it was just average. Not bad but nothing special.
No cutlery or napkins brought to tables and had to ask as none left in the little trays inside either. Sauce in hard to open sachets and loos were a bit untidy. Like I said think they were short staffed or caught out with weather.
I know I speak for many people, when I say that it is very sad to see the Victoria Cafe close, and never re-open.
It came as a sad surprise when we tried to visit during 2022, and saw the notice on the door.
A truly remarkable business, which was iconic to Scarborough.
Offering exceptional menu options, quality of service, and value for money which could not be matched anywhere.
It was a treat and privilege for me and my friend from the Scarborough Evening News to have dined there on our lunch break - for so many times ... and over so many years.
Great sandwiches and sausage rolls at a great price.
Chicken mayo sandwich packed full, could have done with a bit more chicken in though.
Sausage rolls warm and tasty.
Lovely .
We ordered afternoon tea. It was homemade and tasted delicious. It included a bespoke scotch egg, sausage roll, meat pie, cheese & ham wheel. Then there was a selection of desserts. The fruit crumble was excellent! Would definitely order again. Great value too.
Came for a quick coffee before work after seeing the appealing photos online. Very aesthetic interior, with large glass windows and muted colours, creating a bright and relaxing environment. Tasty coffee, excellent service and Covid measures in place. Will definitely be coming back!
I visited this place yesterday staff behind the counter was rude to my daughter when I asked to speak to the manager Vicky they said it won't make a difference because she is worst than us and laughed. Absolutely disgusting behaviour.

We went there with family this Sunday to have some takeaway, and it turned out that we could have seated.
A lovely atmosphere and delicious food. The Team was very friendly and professional. If You are planning to visit Greece this summer or just wanted to refresh last years memories, then this place would be definitely for You. This is a huge achievement for the owners , as they are neither from Greece nor from Italy.
We only ordered Gyros this time, but definitely come back to test some Italian goodies as well. Thank You for having us, and thank for being there to serve those fantastic foods on a daily basis.
Thornton Le Dale bowls club held their annual winter luncheon on the 7th February. Oscars hosted 18 members on one long table beautifully set out, with table cloths etc, overlooking the indoor rink. There was a good choice on the menu & food was served hot & was delicious and with a good selection of vegetables. Several people commented that it was just like mum used to make (good home cooking).
We will definitely eat there again.
