We stayed whilst visiting daughter who is at harper Adam’s university. Excellent value for money- £63 for one night. You stay in an annexe behind the pub. Room was cosy, warm, what was expected for the price. The bed was comfy, standard double so if you’re very tall might struggle. En suite bathroom was small but adequate; dated but perfectly fine for one night stay. The main light and fan in the bathroom weren’t working but for one night it was fine. Shower was hot and excellent. Tv in room, tea and coffee making facilities. Room was warm with a radiator. There was noise from the beer garden until approx 1am but we expected this when booking an annexe at a pub. All in all it was perfect for a one night stay, central to Newport, near pubs, bars and coffee shops.

Awsome pub for class beer, class craic and class people! Swan is the one for the best night out in Newport (Shropshire)❤️.

Value: 10/10 very reasonable prices for great quality food. Quality: The quality of this food was amazing and exceeded my expectations by far! Summary: This place is a little dark horse and its 100% worth trying out, After going there once I will be back 1000000%. Hope this advice is helpful for any food lovers out there. Peace out!

Used to LOVE Jones chipshop. Would make detour just for chicken and chips or fish and chips. Sadly today, awful. I think the chicken breast was the one in the warming display area, which was put back in the fryer to warm through. Absolutely inedible. Over cooked, dried up so much I really couldn't eat it. Mingy tiny portion of chips with it AND over charged by 20p too. Real shame as the gentlemen fryer is so lovely but I thought today really let it down. Sadly I will never return 😢

We were staying in Newport on a Friday night and tried out a few pubs. The Pheasant was easily the best value for money, the beer was good and the locals very friendly, even shuffling up to make room for us when we were looking for a seat. A top boozer!

My favourite pizza place and we are always made to feel welcome with our little one. Great atmosphere and always service with a smile. Pizzas are amazing, but whether you’re having breakfast or evening meal this is a solid choice for food in Newport.

We were staying in Newport for the evening and decided to try out a few of the local pubs. The Shakespeare was empty when we arrived and ordered 2 drinks. The barman asked if we had booked and we said no, we were after drinks only. My wife went to sit at one of the tables that didn't have a reserved sign on it whereupon a young lady raced across and put a reserved sign on that table as well. My wife then asked where we could sit and the lady said we could drink by the bar. The barman said we could use the table near to the emergency exit when the lady then piped up and said we could only sit there for 40 minutes. We drank our drinks and went next door to the Pheasant where a Guinness and IPA were £4 cheaper and the welcome much more friendly. Just out of interest, when we left the Pheasant I walked back to the Shakespeare to look through the window - still half empty and the table we were told we had to vacate in 40 mins was still unoccupied a full hour and half later. I can't comment on the food but if you're looking for a drink don't bother here - you are treated as an inconvenience even when there are more staff than customers!
