Quite possibly the best Indian meal I've ever had. We were a party of 8, and everybody raved about their food, the wonderful unique Punjabi flavours and beautifull presentation. The menu offered loads of choice and the drinks selection was also good. Great friendly, efficient service, even though the restaurant was full. Can't wait to return, thank you for a great evening. 😋

Visited on a weekend stay in Newport to meet old friends. I was a bit apprehensive when I booked as I had never heard the term Desi or Desi menu, despite having lived in a variety of places in the Uk. All doubts were quickly dispelled on entering and we had a great meal and nice experience. First impression was a nice bar ambience at the front & cosy smallish restaurant behind. We ordered 3 mains including the Special Karahi kebab. The food, drinks and service were all great and it made a nice change. Our food arrived after a perfect amount of time to enjoy our drinks and we were asked if we needed more drinks etc. What I especially liked was that the food was different, really tasty and seemed healthier / less oily than some Indian food can be, at least where I live. The restaurant had a nice upbeat buzz to it. I hope to book again, next time I visit Newport.

Dropped in unexpectedly and had a really good meal. The food was quick, and good quality. The two staff we dealt with were really pleasant and added to the experience. As an interior, this isn’t anything special, but with good pleasant service and excellent food, I’d definitely come back.

Gorgeous food as always and brilliant service! Don’t have a bad word to say, highly recommend, best curry around!

Went for my birthday celebration. Friendly service. Knowable staff. Good choice of lagers and beers. Good choice on menu and delicious when the food arrived. Great evening

Disappointed again, last week when we went, rge food was excellent with Korahi special , but the service was sloppy and slow, went again yesterday, service was brilliant, "however" I ordered main course Chicken Jalfrezi, the sauce was runny and had only THREE small pieces of chicken,very poor, I don't know if they're too busy or what? Next time we are out I think we'll try Basmati over the road, been several times now, much more consistent

Quite expensive and small portions, curry’s are lovely though. I had a mixed grill and the chicken was poor quality and like rubber, I told the waitress this on paying the bill and she just shrugged and said she would tell the chef. If you are willing to travel a bit there are cheaper desi pubs with better quality and bigger portion sizes.

A bloke in a pub said this was the place for the best Indian in Newport! So we went to find out. First asked if we'd booked, well we hadn't, but on the proviso we could be finished by 7, (it was 5:45), they got us in. To be honest I was dubious, pub doing Indian? I was expecting ping and fling pre-prepared fare. Couldn't have been more wrong. Food was obviously freshly cooked, delicious with just the right blend of spice and heat. Watching what went to other tables it all looked equally appetising. Menu was extensive. Service was good. Nothing not to like. Slightly more expensive than some of the others in town, but definitely worth it overall. Will go back for sure.

When we arrived - we were advised they had no Rose Wine plus low on Red Wine - we was informed they would pop to the shop to get some!! A bit taken aback as when they went to shop of course they then charged there in house prices….perhaps not admit it in future…

Really good Desi pub in Newport. Good food, very good service! Generally order a takeaway, but eating in is very good too!! Decent beer on tap too!

The best food and atmosphere in Newport. Went here with my family and every last detail from the vibe to the food was spot on. Hot, flavoursome and fresh food served by great staff. What more could you want? 10/10 would recommend!

Not impressed, won't go again. Table wasn't ready on time so had to stand and wait. Food was expensive, not very big portions, and just ok - nothing special. Service not good either - they got my order wrong and forgot my daughter's meal. Dissapointed

Got our meals as a take away and it was lovely. Really good flavour and tender chicken! Cheese and garlic naan was full of cheese which is really good as other places the cheese seems non existent! Would highly recommend the cheese and garlic naan and the butter chicken! Definitely go back again!

What can I say .This is the total package great service amazing food ,who would of thought of tikka rice mmmm . Me and my wife can definitely recommend the Shakespeare.

Lovely food and very friendly staff. We enjoyed it so much we have booked for our family to go again for a birthday meal next weekend. We had meals off the lunch menu and I had the masala fish and my Mum had chicken tikka in pita bread with salad and rice. The lady who served us was lovely and bought over a high chair and recommended some food options for my one year old daughter. It’s dog friendly and very nice atmosphere inside. Decorated very sympathetically for the beautiful building it is and very clean and tidy. Look Forward to having another meal here next weekend

Not visited for a while but just finished a meal of Shakespeare boneless sizzler which is filled with chicken , lamb, prawns, kebab all on a sizzling skillet of fried onions, with a special curry of the pub . All red hot (temperature) and very tasty.Thservice is first class and the setting is great.

Excellent service, food and drinks. We had a party of 20 for my 60th birthday and we had a great time, everyone was thoroughly impressed. Also a mention to Stella a member of the bar team who on her way home recognised a couple from our party who the young lady way very ill. She stayed with them and assisted until they a lift arrived for them to get them home. Stella is a credit to the Shakespeare. We will definitely be going back.

Great food, great atmosphere, friendly. Couldn't ask for more. The one pub you know your gonna have a good night. My kids, my wife love the experience. Hands down the best in the town. Always recommend the Shake.

We visited as a family on a Saturday afternoon, the staff were friendly and the food was exceptionally good and very well priced, we will definitely be frequenting again.

Visited over Xmas whist visiting relatives. Phenomenal staff who were polite and helpful. Mixed grill was on point and also try their curries if visiting.

We do events across the UK and stop at The Shakespeare Inn frequently, atleast once a month. We know we are guaranteed great food/drink and amazing hospitality every visit no matter how big or small our group.

Had a good meal at the pub and staff very accommodating.Just don't think £6 for a pint of bitter is acceptable....that's London prices....in Newport Shrophsire!!! Total rip off and overpriced.

Word of mouth was that the Shakespeare does a good curry. It does. A very competently executed prawn pakora, followed by very tasty chicken jalfrezi, keema naan and lemon rice. Cheerful efficient service and a pleasant environment. What more do you need.

The Shakespeare is a pub that serves Indian food and I ate there last night with a bunch of friends. The quality of the food, portion size, price and service was excellent. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

From the minute we arrived the friendly staff were attentive despite being full. The food was promptly delivered and was gorgeous. I can safely say it was the best Indian food we have eaten in a long time and will definitely be returning.

Having been walking we look for a convenient place to eat lunch on the way home. We both had Apna Chicken Burger with Masala flavoured chips. Very tasty and great value for money. Really good service and friendly staff. I look forward to eating here...

We ate there as a table for 2 and enjoyed the evening. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good and arrived without too long a wait. The cost was reasonable.
