Had the homemade lamb faggots and they were delicious. When I heard it was lamb week again couldn't wait to have one. Originally tried last September but my review didn't save. Dan's expertise in the kitchen is excellent. Going back for rack of lamb for my other half - I may have to have the faggots again.

Booked a table for Sunday lunch after the rush hours around 14.00 pm. This wasn't our first time here as we moved to the area 2 years ago and it's been recommended a lot. The food is great and always fresh and great portions, however our experience is always the same and every visit gives us a bittersweet taste when leaving. The service. When you brave enough to leave the house with small children or you try to treat some friends/ family members who visit, you expect just a slight amount of care from the staff members. This place should seriously look into their customer service. -Food was thrown in front of us without asking if we need anything else. -They serve the drinks at your arrival and you good to navigate to your table with your glass and multiple children in your hand -Never ask the guest about the food or if they need anything- better of avoiding eye contact - Extreme waiting times between meals / clearing of the table ( we never attended in peak times) - 15 min waiting time after they provided the dessert menu then my 5 year old had enough and asked to served, no-one showed up so we finally gave up and left without dessert and coffee ( second time) while 2 staff members was seating at a corner table chatting. - Finally we paid at the bar and never receive a receipt unless asking. Sorry but this is so disrespectful with your paying customers. When I am planning to spend 120-150£ for a lunch I would expect some sort of service. I don't think we ever return after numerous try which is a shame for the management.

Stopped here for lunch Bank Holiday Monday, sat in the spacious garden with the dogs and ate some good quality food. Pub food has become so expensive last few years that what was once a regular activity has become a treat. So great when you do get good food and lovely staff.

Staff welcoming. Portions sizes are good. Main courses were tasty. Dessert was a disappointment for me the Gooseberry crumble was burnt and inedible. Prices differ from the menu, the receipt and online. Check this before paying. Floors are very greasy and ladies toilet flush broken. However we still had a pleasant evening and came away full and reasonably happy.
