Has a separate vegan section on the menu, with well planned dishes. The vegan cottage pie is beautiful, served with veggies. Chocolate & orange tart for dessert was also yummy. I liked the fact some thought had been put onto the vegan options…. It wasn’t just falafel which a lot of non vegan places resort to (I hate falafel now 😂) Friendly service and my dog was welcome

Called in for a coffee after looking at the Fauld crater. I only wish I lived in the village as I would use this pub regularly. The landlord and his staff were a delight to chat with. The pub is beautiful with lots of information about the crater. The views are stunning. Summer or winter, this is definitely a pub to visit.

Used to be my go to Indian restaurant. We were told it's busy you will have to wait twenty minutes, about 30 -40 minutes later we were seated. there were only a table of 8 and maybe another table of 6. Hardly what I would call busy. The food was pretty average. Mine was ok but the other 2 curries we had barely tasted of much probably the blandest currys I've tasted. The samosas were tiny as well and 2 seemed a very small starter. It felt like the guy waiting on was doing almost everything and I wouldn't be surprised if he was helping cook in the kitchen. So disappointed because this used to be such a great curry house and I definitely wouldn't visit again

Having worked at Hoar cross hall for the last three months and visiting the Lancaster cafe every day cannot recommend this hidden gem any more than the 5 stars it has. Tina Janet and Trouble! Have looked after us no end and will help with anything on the menu. The specials are always cracking too. Enjoy. Many thanks Ian and the gang

First visit and def not our last. Basically how a pub should be. Not sport in any way. Lovely atmosphere lovely staff and above everything else lovely food. Even though busy not a particularly long wait. Appreciate a Saturday night so other nights may not have the same atmosphere but I will be trying another night soon.

Family of 10. Where to begin. Mixed up veg and non veg samosas and my vegetarian wife ended up eating meat. Half hearted apologies, blaming each other - they didn’t really have a clue. We waited 1 hour for starters even through the restaurant was super quiet. Food was not great. Fish Amritsar slimy and bland. Chana Puri bland. Nan breads flat. Chilli paneer and paneer shashlik were identical. Tandoori chicken and aloo tiki were ok. No drinks menu. Left after Starters. Place is a joke.

Located on the main Lichfield to Ashbourne road, the main bar at the Swan remains a traditional, largely unspoilt place to come and enjoy a convivial drink. Lovers of real unspoilt pubs will, no doubt, enjoy this space. The back section of the pub is somewhat more modernised and is focused mainly on food sales. The food here is very good, and reasonably priced too. There is an extensive menu, nothing over-ambitious, but the house speciality is the homemade pies - and excellent they are too. These are 'proper pies' - by that I mean they are fully encased in pastry (not just in a dish with a pastry lid), and there is a good selection available ranging from traditional pies such as Steak & Kidney to some more unusual choices. I opted for the aforementioned Steak & Kidney, a personal favourite, once the staple of all pub food menus but now becoming increasingly rare - and an excellent choice it proved to be. Pies come with mash or chips, a selection of fresh vegetables plus a jug of gravy. The one small negative about this pub is the selection of ales - Bass or Tribute at the time of our visit. I would like to have seen at least one ale from a small independent Local brewery on the bar. There is a small farm shop, mainly selling meat and meat products, adjacent to the pub.
