2nd visit with best friends and absolutely fantastic yet again. Pork cooked to perfection. Veg again cooked to our taste. Plates were full of meat before we put our veg on and the Yorkshire puddings are massive yet so light! The gravy is out of this world. Winner winner chicken dinner - 5*****

Booked for 4 and were shown to our table as soon as we walked in. Very friendly and efficient staff. Food was absolutely fantastic. From the beef to the pork and then lamb. All veg was cooked to perfection and the Yorkshire puddings are the best I've tasted ( apart from my own of course) . Well worth a visit whether it's for the Sunday Lunch or even a pie (which are outstanding as I've been here before and had the pie) Hats off to the chef and staff.

Arrived for an early supper to be told they had stopped serving food for that day after lunch. When I said it did not say that on the website the young lady said "oh someone else said that the other day." Might be an idea if they did say when they served food not just when the bar was open.

Was one of our favourite places to come weekly as all the staff are lovely, but after 9 of us coming for mothers day and one being a vegan had just a jacket potato with beans but we were charged £12.95 the same as everyone who had the sunday roast, we spoke to the landlady who was very rude, this has put us off ever coming again. I have emailed a couple if times before leaving this review but no response at all don’t think they care!

Visited Saturday lunch, outstanding menu, food was excellent, honestly can’t believe what good value for money it is with the offer of 2 courses for £10, the braised beef was amazing, liver and bacon the best I’ve ever had, staff more than helpful, friendly and attentive, our waiter a young man was polite and courteous and the bar lady lovely too, nothing was too much trouble. A pleasure to visit, spoke to a couple who visit from several miles away near Birmingham every weekend to sample the excellent pedigree, fabulous pies and a lovely welcome, will definitely visit soon

We've visited a few lunchtimes and the homecooked food is always lovely and the service friendly. The lunchtime 2 courses for £10 is really good value and the main prices are also reasonable. It's famous for its choice of pies but there are plenty of other choices. There is also a farm shop in the car park selling meat, pies, cakes, eggs etc and that is also good- I'm currently cooking some of their braising steak which is lovely. Try the pies and their bacon

Booked for a family birthday when arrived was just given the pie menu which was disappointing as last visit we had the full menu and was lovely There was a good selection of pies available we were later told the they only open on a Monday night and its just pies they open in the day for main menu There was no starters available and we wasnt offered desserts other than placing our order we were pretty much ignored I opted for the steak and tilton pie with bacon mash onion rngs and house gray which was lovely Would return if wanting a pie but was dissappointed

Don’t bother if you’re vegan We thought we’d try Sunday lunch here. After eventually getting the attention of the bar staff, we felt like an inconvenience, we asked if they had anything vegan on the menu, the surly woman replied, “Vegan??” as though we’d asked her something in a foreign language. The look of disgust on her face was followed by a curt, “No,” No apology or offer to ask the chef if he could accommodate us. Terrible customer service. Needless to say, we won’t be returning. Found a lovely vegan friendly pub in Hanbury instead.

I would like to thank everyone at the Swan for yet another lovely Sunday lunch, it’s so plentiful and tasty, the meat is quality and the gravy is delicious. I would usually choose beef for a Sunday out, but the pork here is so tender, has the right balance of fat and a generous amount of crispy salty crackling, that it’s now my go to choice. My only complaint is that I would appreciate the option of a smaller adult portion so I would have room for a dessert!

Popped in after a day in the peak district. Had noticed a sign advertising pies on the way past in the morning. We had our dog with us so weren't allowed in the restaurant, but food is served in the bar as well. Staff were friendly enough and the bar is pleasant. There were three in our party and we all opted for pies with chunky chips. It isn't cheap, but the pies are well worth it. Full to the top with tender meat, they were lovely. If I lived locally I would definitely be going back for more.

This pub has a rather odd ambiance- there is a seperate door for the "restaurant" -fine for a hotel of course. They seem to use young people as waiter for us- the food was great if you are a glutton - lots of it. They do not serve skinny fries and seemed unaware that anyone would even ask. The food..........OK but basic. The bill was another. We ordered two wines to begin with aand later a bottle of wine. I had asked for two new glasses and duly they came. However when at home I DISCOVED i HAD BEEN CHARGED FOR FOUR GLASSES OF WINE ........ rather than two and also the bottle of wine. £12 overcharge! It may well have been an error the girl was very young-not worth the hassle of trying to prove it! Not going back in a hurry.

What a place! Very surprised that this was so quiet on a Saturday afternoon. We called in after a long walk for some food and had the most amazing pies! I had a steak & Stilton & the other half had a chicken & mushroom. The choices of the sides were a fab little detail! These were some seriously good pies.I opted for the Steak and Kidney, as you don't find a decent one very often. My wife decided on the Chicjen, Ham and Leek. We both had the Sweet Potato mash and peas.Everything about this was quality; the meat, the pastry and the sides. I gave not had such a tasty steak and kidney pie for a long time. The meat was lean and tender and you could actually taste the kidney. The mash was well made and tasted wonderful and the pepper gravy just added that extra level to the whole thing.I had the Bread and Butter Pudding for dessert and loved it. There was one waitress who initially was taking drinks orders and pouring them. She was then having to take food orders, serve them and work in the kitchen. The steaks were delicious and hot but took a long time to arrive. We were also surprised that sauces to accompany steaks had been removed from the menu. The menu was varied but much changed. We tried to enjoy our food and the service was decent I guess until our night was ruined by a very aggressive "owner/manager". As we departed, we saw him shouting and screaming aggressivly and abusively to one of his staff members, and foaming and spitting in his face. This is completely unacceptable, especially in front of paying customers. We will never be returning to this place, and will be spreading the word to friends also to never step foot in this venue.

To our disappointment we were greeted by a rather anxious , noisy Alsatian in his cage....in the garden! I went to sit down and it continued to growl and bark. We visited here with my parents who were visiting the area and wanted something home made rather than the microwaved meals you get in most pubs these days. On arrival the outside beer garden was full of families and children. It was a lovely sunny day and there was a lovely sense of belonging/friendly country pub. As outsiders so to speak we felt very welcomed. We did note the dog that was previously mentioned but it was completely caged off from anyone and not a threat to anyone. Beautiful looking dog happily sitting in the sunshine. The polite and friendly waitress found us a table even though it was busy with families. We had the lasagne, beef medallions and lamb shank with extra chips. All the food was stunning. So much flavour! I wish I could make gravy like that. My daughter said it was the best lasagne she'd even had and she likes her lasagne lol. Although full as the portion sizes are huge and fantastic value for money we tried the cheese cake. Homemade and very yummy. Overall we found the pub to be lovely and clean, polite friendly and helpful staff and gorgeous real food. We will certainly be back. It was evident that the staff were busy but worked well together, were very attentive and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We ordered the Cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding, portions were massive, very indulgent and nicely presented. Many thanks to everyone front of house and in the kitchen on such a hot day. Rating system not working but 5 stars all round

I eat jacket potatoes regularly and this was by far the worst. Tasted like it was pre cooked and reheated in the microwave in which it was left far too long. The only saving grace was the filling of Tuna.

Went to the Swan for the first time on Saturday with my parents. It was nicely busy. Was very impressed with warm welcome, great food and prices. Dad and I had the Yorkshire pudding filled with sausages, onion gravy mash/chips and vegetables. Mum had liver with gravy, mash vegetables. Everything good quality and meat is locally produced. Didnt need anything else to eat that day as portions are generous! Wasn't quite nice enough a day to sit outside unfortunately but looking forward to my next visit already. No families there on Saturday but the garden is ideal with bouncy castle available all summer I believe. Next time to I plan stock up on some goodies from the farm shop that is also on site. Great job guys keep up the good work.

Stopped of with my friend and her 3 children. No friendly welcome or even an acknowledgement.we were ignored 5 times from passing waitresses and the landlord. The waitress was obviously new and just left on her own. Felt very unwelcome. Will not be going back

Visited for lunch today with my mother and upon arrival was quickly served a few drinks. We then chose of the two course set menu for the ham egg and chips. Upon mentioning this a female chef blurted across us to the man behibd the bar that they were out of ham, to which he replied this was not the case. The atmosphere was confused and awkward. We had not decided on desert but thought we would leave that decision till afterwards.

Can’t beat the swan for a good burger! And hand cut chips of course! Great beer especially the pedigree, never had a bad experience here.

After visiting Sudbury Hall we wanted a bite to eat locally and an internet search flagged up a short drive to The Swan Inn. A warm reception from smiling staff welcomed us as did a warm fire and a great, very reasonably priced, menu.

We visited Willows (previously Tutbury Tearooms) for lunch. There was a good selection of meals, snacks and drinks on the menu, although there didn’t seem to be a children’s menu. The cafe was comfortable and nicely decorated. The food was nice, but very expensive. £9.75 for a jacket potato with cheese (plus £1.50 for each additional topping) is far too much!!! My son had two potato waffles with grated cheese and baked beans, which cost £9.99!!! We left feeling negative due to this and are unlikely to return.

Went a few months back for some drinks after going to the cinema. We all sat outside because it was lovely weather, much like the service! So many drinks to choose from, we struggled to make up our minds we wanted to try so much. I had a fruity cider, and it was really nice. Chap on the bar was lovely, saw some girls working making sure everywhere was clean and tidy so they definitely care about making sure the place is in good shape. Definitely would go again

Being back in Burton for another pub crawl we thought we would look this place up again for probably the last time as it is due to close at the end of October in an act of complete vandalism by Molson Coors, showing a total lack of respect for brewing history by planning to redevelop the site for offices. Have these people no morals or respect? Clearly not. As for the tap room and restaurant itself, it’s a fairly sterile corporate affair but at least the hanging pub signs in the restaurant section does try and give it a bit of character. And in my experience the bar staff serving behind the bar have always given the impression that they are suffering for their profession and would rather be somewhere else. Although cannot comment on the food as we have never eaten here and again were only here for the tap bar bit, but can certainly pass judgement on the ale and in that respect the beer was very good, but then you would expect it to be as it is the official tap bar for the Heritage Brewery, embedded in the National Brewery Centre next door, and they don’t have to travel very far. The Tap bar has six hand pumps and for our visit these were dispensing the Heritage Brewery Masterpiece IPA, Heritage Gold, Charrington IPA and Oatmeal Stout as well as Draught Bass and Elgood black dog on as a guest. I went for the Oatmeal Stout. It is not one of the best tap rooms I have ever visited, but it is probably one of the most famous, so I will be very sad to see it go, if this act of vandalism is allowed to proceed by the local council and the local MP. If it is then the very soul of Burton on Trent will go with it.

Very poor meal, Ham salad looked like someone put a bag of lettuce from the supermarket and a bit of very cheap ham. Bread roll inedible. When I mentioned to server, got a blank look and “do you want another roll” No I wanted a decent ham salad. Clearly no qualified chef or staff with any responsibility. Don’t bother eating here. Waste of money.
