The Cock Inn in East Staffordshire

Called in for a coffee after looking at the Fauld crater. I only wish I lived in the village as I would use this pub regularly. The landlord and his staff were a delight to chat with. The pub is beautiful with lots of information about the crater. The views are stunning. Summer or winter, this is definitely a pub to visit.

Fabulous food in lovely surroundings and a cosy log burner on the go, friendly attentive service .we went on a quiet weds evening but we will definitely return one weekend when busier.couldnt wish for a better pub 🍻 and tasty food ,great portions too . fabulous 😍

Was recommended to try the Sunday lunch but really not impressed I don't like leaving bad reviews but this was not a good experience We waited over an hour for our mains... which we had to ask for....this prompted the staff to remember to bring it out 🤯... I guess it had been sitting around waiting to be served 🤯 and was not very warm...hardly any meat, spuds were rock hard like left overs and veg looked like a car crash... the best bit were the pigs in blankets that were an extra £4 and were not properly cooked (see image) Sorry but can't recommend after this visit... really not worth the bothering with

We’ve been before and it’s always been very good, we had the sharing Atlantic seafood starter which was really very good. My partner ordered cannaloni so we expected pasta tubes, we got a dish that was more like lasagna being layered pasta sheets. Very nice but not what we were expecting, I ordered the sausage and onion pie which was burnt I don’t mean slightly overcooked but burnt. I mentioned this to the waitress who apologised but that was as far as that went. On top of that there was so much salt in the cabbage it wasn’t edible . We were charged £67 for our meal and 2 drinks, I mentioned the cabbage and burnt pie when we paid and they said they would make sure the kitchen were told. Not really the point we were charged full price for the main meals that should never have left the kitchen. I know sometimes things get away from you in the kitchen but if it’s not right don’t send it out.

Only had one drink after a walk round the crator, they opened half an hour early as we were all wet through.

Amazing food!! Seasonal menu with fresh country cooked food! Beautiful pub with lovely views into the countryside! Food was very much value for money and we enjoyed all of it, mains and desserts!

Lovely pub with amazing views. Met up for food, had the seafood platter which was beautiful (could have done with some bread for the prawns though!) The staff were lovely, very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. Glad we got there early as the car park does fill up. Definitely recommend a visit.

Good pub food and nice sized beer garden. Staff were pleasant.

Lovely restaurant, stunning views. Luckily we were seated in the bay window so got the full benefit of the sunset. The food was great, had seabass and prawn tagliatelle, everything the kids had was made fresh (not out of a box) and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Staff were friendly and professional.

You won’t find a better Sunday lunch. Fantastic!

Had fish goujons on toasted ciabatta with fries. All very nice. Staff were all friendly and welcoming I would have given 5 stars for service except they weren't busy and it took over half an hour to bring it to the table.

This classic British pub is everything you want and need. A firm favourite with family and/or friends. We've dined at Christmas, mother's day and spring time; each and every time they have delivered outstanding food. Also, please note - the meat quality is fantastic - always juicy and tender. Also, huge shout out to the staff for always being friendly and accommodating. Cocktails & mocktails are superb and brilliantly priced too. The lunch time deal is roughly £16 for 3 courses, even on a saturday!! Keep it up and we'll 100% be back. Garden looks fab for the summer too!

We came from Gloucester and had Great fresh hot food at very reasonable prices. Allowed all 3 dogs in bar.(sorry about the noisy one ) Thanks guys. We will be back for sure

What a lovely village pub and restaurant. Food is high quality along with excellent friendly staff. One of use was gluten free and was catered for very well. Will be visiting again soon.

The best in the area! Another excellent lunch. Well done chef. Nicely cooked & presented with great portion sizes. Excellent service & prices with the bonus of lovely views towards the dales. A small outdoor play area for the kids when the weather improves. Good parking.

Ordered off the set meal, didn't have the soup we asked for, so had the salmon pate, I ate it as I was hungry and someone else was paying for it who I didn't want to upset , it was one of the most disgusting things I've ever eaten too much salt. Hardly any salad just wilted lettuce. The main meal wasn't much better, I ended up having burn bits in my mouth, I went to this pub years ago and the food was really good haven't a clue what has gone wrong. The waitress asked me if it was OK and I told her it was too salty but didn't get any response. I will definitely Not be going again. O and to make matters worse when I got back home I had the worse stomach ache ever. Reaction from the food.

Loved it! Went for a birthday meal and the only complaint was that the children's pasta was too spicy for my daughter. But there was plenty to eat as we had the 3 courses and we all left full and happy.

Darmowy parking. Podział na część restauracyjną i pub. Miła obsługa ale wnętrze i widok z okien restauracji jest wart przyjazdu tutaj. Jedzenie gorące, smaczne, porcje duże i ładnie podane. Dyskretna muzyka ( brawo za to !!! ) w tle, nie przeszkadzała. Polecam.

Good food lacks atmosphere very quiet

Everything was very good, beer, service and mains the only let down was the desert which was supposed to be home made tiramisu served in a plastic container with squirty cream on top, home made? Would definitely recommend everything else.

Lovely place and very good dishes !

Went for their steak night on Wednesday and had an amazing experience. Service was quick and friendly. We mentioned having a dog when we booked, and a bowl of water was there waiting for our thirsty boy after his walk around the crater. We ordered a sirloin steak and a fillet steak at a very reasonable price. Steaks were cooked perfectly and came with a delicious selection of sauces. French fries and chunky chips were both delightful, and were accompanied with crunchy onion rings, a mushroom pot pie, vine tomatoes and a pineapple and smoked cheese topper which was an optional extra. Atmosphere was warm and cosy. Would highly recommend for a wonderful dining experience.

Lovely inn set on the edge of the village with far reaching views - beers are in top condition - meals and service are second to none- we shall be returning when visiting the area

First time eating here tonight and everything about the evening has been amazing. The food was delicious and plenty of it, the service was spot on, not rushed or too slow the beer is great too. On top of all of this the views out of the rest of the restaurant are stunning. Thank you all for a great evening.

Recently visited with family and its still a nice relaxed place to spend time. Good memories of when I was younger coming here, and the staff are nice also.

Lovely public bar used by the locals. The pub has a lovely dining area with wonderful views of countryside as it is on top of a hill. It has history being in close proximity to the largest ever explosion in mainland Great Britain (google Fauld explosives disaster). Very nice sunday lunches, nice choice of beer, lager and cider. Locals really nice. Lovely place.

Amazing food we both had the salmon stir fry, tiramisu & knickerbocker desserts. Excellent attentive friendly service..

I think we were the first people in the new restaurant and new menu. Absolutely wonderful. We sat in one of the bay windows with the most amazing view. Food was beautifully cooked and large helpings.

Awful experience would never go back most of dishes were off the menu waited 2 1/2 hours for our main which was the worst course I have ever been presented with there website showed completely different views off what we received unfortunately all off our meals had to be returned after showing them to the bar manager he agreed with ourselves and apologised as they have had no restaurant manager for a while.

Booked a table in the restaurant and was seated outside the ladies toilet. Not good but couldn't complain about the food.

I've just eaten parma ham wrapped hake with nicoise salad and tomato salsa dressing. Not the cheapest item on the menu but a huge plateful and absolutely delicious. We sat in the window close to the log fire, watching the sheep in the adjacent field.

Food was ok. Nothing special. Over priced for what it was.

Booked for a late Saturday afternoon lunch, menu was good, order the burger and skinny fries, wow, best burger for ages, and it was hot, too many of pubs that do food have it coming out warm or cold, this was hot and it was fab, service was good and friendly too, try to get a table with the views, I'm sure in the summer it's good, well worth the visit and would go again

Food and atmosphere were brilliant, although the service was a little slow, they were very busy, thoroughly recommend, very nice 👍 we'll be going again. 😀

Visited Saturday evening with a dog. Staff very accommodating, sat in the lounge which had a nice atmosphere. The food was tasty and promptly served when we had ordered. The service was however disappointingly slow and especially considering the number of staff vs people in my opinion. Had to seek out people throughout. To pay we gave up waiting and stood at the bar/restaurant entrance waiting 5 mins to see any staff. Easy to fix hopefully and will be back in the future.

Excellent meal first time will definitely be back
