Wendy's is such a delightful place! We parked in the car park and met old friends for coffee here. A delightful walk along the canal to Little Bedwyn, round through Chisbury, and back to Wendy's for a delicious lunch. The menu is extensive, the food's delicious, and the staff very friendly and welcoming despite being so busy. We managed to resist Wendy's fresh-baked cakes, but they looked sublime. We couldn't have asked for more. Great Bedwyn is fortunate indeed!

We ate in the restaurant for lunch for a table of six. The booking was made and be replaced by the fire for warm and cosy environment. We ordered drinks and meals for all six of us. Four vegetarian roasts dinners and one cheeseburger and two parsnip soups to start with. The food took quite a long time to arrive and when it did we were slightly underwhelmed with its presentation for the cost. We all shared the same personal areas of improvement. The roast potatoes will dry and undercooked. The squash and beetroot Wellington was slightly sweet for our taste in a roast but very well presented and well seasoned, (would recommend.) The gravy was too thin and lacked flavour. The positive points were equally well recieved, They accommodated two children's roast dinners. The coffee was well made and a good selection of ales, The cheeseburger and chips was also very well. The entire menu also read really well and we would recommend visiting for but personally (from the 6 of us) perhaps not on a Sunday for the roast.

Visited for Sunday lunch on a wet September day, sitting inside the table was great, room light and airy. We all had the Sirloin roast which was super, thick cut with a tasty gravy made from the black treacle used to baste the joint, delish!! Fresh vegetables perfectly cooked. Portion sizes were good but not so much you can’t see what is on the plate! All 3 desserts went down well too. Would certainly go back. We didn’t take our dog but there was one in the corner table so we might next time.

I genuinely don’t know why the owners here bother…well, they’re not! The bar was completely soul-less at 2.30 on a Saturday. The drinks offering pretty poor, the owner sitting in a corner on her laptop watching some live sport. The fire was roaring even though it was a warm day, but only in the front bar; the back bar didn’t have the fire lit but had a calor gas heater plonked in the middle of the room blasting heat out. It was all very tired inside, slightly grubby and uncared for. Staff were pretty vacant and unfriendly and unwelcoming. Sat in the garden which is overgrown and uncared for. Ordered dirty fries from a dirty and ripped menu, and they were completely inedible. Microwaved fries, cold in the middle, pulled pork absolutely nothing special. Left pretty quickly and won’t be returning. Such a shame for what could be, and used to be, a great pub. It’s really not hard to do things well.
