We had a delightful 4 night stay at The Greyhound Inn Staple Fitzpaine being an ideal base to visit Hestercombe Gardens, NT places Lytes Cary, Barrington, Montacute and Fleet Air Arm Museum all within an easy 30mins drive away with lots more in the area to explore if you have the time. We had a lovely quiet sleep in the converted old skittle alley with all mod cons with a great breakfast and dinner choice all cooked to perfection and to top it off the most friendly staff members you could wish to meet.

Outstanding service all round. Staff very attentive. Went there for a Sunday roast. 2 had roast nut and cashew loaf, 1 had chicken, and the other had roast beef. Lovely presentation when turned up. Very filling. Had dessert too which 1 had pannacotta, 1 had sticky toffee pudding, 1 had apple pie and the other ice cream. Followed by tea and coffee. Lovely food. Need to book a table before arriving. Would recommend.

Was so looking forward to eating here as had heard rave reviews. Sadly it was a disappointment. Menu was different to that online (changed ownership??), and a basic pub menu was on offer. No steak, run out. Chicken burger was incredibly dry and tasteless, mashed potato with lamb was a grey colour and the staff did not seem to understand gluten free. Highly unlikely to return.

Went in Sunday lunchtime for a drink. There were two people at the bar sniggering with the lady behind the bar. It was unclear if they were sniggering at us but i can't think why they would. Very uncomfortable 'welcome' We then tried to look at the menu and were sharply told it was the wrong menu because its a Sunday menu. We said we were just looking and the person snapped back ....well the menu changes all the time. We left!

A fellow grandparent standing in the rain as we dropped children off at the nearby scout centre suggested The Hatch Inn when I asked him where I could find somewhere to work and maybe eat nearby in the 1.5 hours until I collected my granddaughter. Well I'm hugely grateful to him, for The Hatch Inn was a find. The staff were lovely and very helpful, the atmosphere welcoming on a miserable early evening, I managed to get some work done - but the food was just sublime. I had a smoked salmon linguini. I don't often order things I cook myself, because you develop a taste for favourites, but this one was perfection. I prefer using soured cream to creme fraiche and I think they did the same as there was a subtle sharpness to the sauce. The pasta was cooked to perfection, the salmon was plentiful in a generous and filling portion. The meal cost £15 and was excellent value for money. Some men at a nearby table said they went there as it was famous for its pies and they raved about their meal when it came. I've asked the family to book my birthday meal here in October and my husband has already chosen his pie!

What a wonderful place to eat. My husband and I enjoyed a perfect breakfast here yesterday. My better half had a full English, cooked to perfection and demolished in record time whilst I devoured a delicious veggie breakfast. Although I'm not vegetarian, the sausages, as well as the other items, were spot on. Then, although I didn't really have room, I couldn't resist the children's sized pancakes. Greedy but gorgeous. I have visited the Fit Grill several times now and have never been disappointed with either the food or the friendly, helpful staff. Give them a go and make up your own minds. I would highly recommend the Fit Grill to family and friends. Brenda Slater
